The second semi-final kicks off at a quarter to eight this evening, with the Germans taking on Italy - the team that knocked England out of the tournament. Last night's semi between Portugal and Spain ended in penalties, after both sides failed to find the goal in 120 minutes. It was Spain that eventually went through, meaning whoever wins this match will face them in the final on Sunday. So far, all the predictions about a Germany vs Spain final are working out, but can Italy put a stop to that today?

Oh no, they've got the anthems the wrong way around. Silly UEFA.

In that case, I predict a goal.

Pirlo bails Buffon out. Steven almost caused another goal.

    Very un-Buffon like.

de Rossi still has one long sleeve and one short. Weird.

Just tried reading up on this. Apparently he does the same thing for Roma. There are various theories but the most believable is that he had one of his best games ever for Roma when someone ripped off one of his sleeves so he decided to adopt the one long, one short look

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 19:00

  • Steven Roy28/06/2012 at 19:24

That was a fabulously well timed run to leave the defenders trailling

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 19:24

    Bingo!

    Gavin I think

Cassano injured. Nice time for Juve's own Giovinco or Tony Christmas on.

  • Ryan28/06/2012 at 19:30

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 19:33

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 19:51

    terrible defending there.

  • Will^28/06/2012 at 19:53

Germany haven't conceded first in a competitive match (inc qualis) since the 3/4 place playoff (v Uruguay) in 2010 WC.

  • Ryan28/06/2012 at 19:54

Horribly wasteful finishing by the Germans.

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 19:59

    chaos in the box

It may have been the mentions of Italy or subconciously hoping the supposed 'underdog' would win, but I have pizza. Anyone got wurst and saurkraut?

  • Will^28/06/2012 at 20:14

what's the max time that can be added on? :)

30s per subst is the usual metric.

  • Steven Roy28/06/2012 at 20:15

what's the max time that can be added on? :)

Whatever the referee wants. He can play all night if he likes. Generally you get 3 minutes if you are lucky unless you are manchester United where you might get 8

  • Ryan28/06/2012 at 20:16

30s per subst is the usual metric.

And injuries and players moaning that a red card has/hasn't been given.

  • Will^28/06/2012 at 20:17

And injuries and players moaning that a red card has/hasn't been given.

Yeah it's usually 30s per subst and then all the time for everything else that's stopped play etc.

  • Pat W28/06/2012 at 20:17

I'm in the curious position of hoping Germany scores.

  • Will^28/06/2012 at 20:19

I'm in the curious position of hoping Germany scores.

I just can't believe Germany were not able to beat Italy. Italy played well to be fair
