Surprises galore at Wimbledon yesterday, as Caroline Wozniacki went crashing out and British youngster Heather Watson went sailing through (they were not playing each other, mind you). we're expecting more from Andy Murray today, and hopefully the weather will be a little better than it was today. The covers came across the outside courts and the roof across Centre, leaving us with little choice of action. But hey, at least there is something to watch, even when it's raining!

i'm not watching but she just lost the second set. when i went to bed last night she was pretty close to losing the first so she must have only just clawed it back.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:05

    it's winter, that's cheating.

    muhahaha.

I have been late to work every single morning this week though. Stupid tennis and lovely snooze button.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:06

I have turned on the TV and Serena is on. I would like her to win this slam simply because her outfit highlights are purple.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:10

Goffin wins again! Crazy 12 year old we'd never heard of until the French Open is suddenly winning stuff.

does the thing you used to view f1 last year not still work?

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:13

Serena wins! Her dress is as confusing as Anas at the back. Must be the season for it!

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:13

does the thing you used to view f1 last year not still work?

yes but that'd involve the effort of logging in. which i might do now because i'm curious :D

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 13:13

I forgot how frustrating it is to be at work during Wimbledon. I was spoilt last year :)

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:14

Maria is now 2 points away from winning the 3rd set 6-0. She must have heard me saying oof.

you need to sell more books :)

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 13:15

you need to sell more books :)

Yes. First I have to write them and it's hard to write when there's so much good sport on. It's a vicious circle!

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:19

speaking of tennis I would like this job http://tennisaustralia.bigredsky.com/page.php?pageID=160&windowUID=0&AdvertID=182969&NRJobBoardID=42d2cef726e64dc1b3dadfe289891cf4 but have zero of the criteria. i need a time machine so I can go back and get them.

Yes. First I have to write them and it's hard to write when there's so much good sport on. It's a vicious circle!

okay, new plan. how about starting a pretend f1 team overseas, secure $8m in backing from some clueless government types, then shut the whole thing down, using the money to fund your retirement?

or did someone think of that already.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 13:22

oh god verdasco, cut your hair!

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 13:29

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 13:32

Or... I could just take some holiday and watch Winbledon.

    always with the practical solutions.

  • john28/06/2012 at 14:51

just got back to see maria got up 6-0 in the third, when the pressure is on she steps up, now watching ivanovic who looks like taking the second set in a tie breaker, bondarenko cracking a bit with the pressure, serving double faults and silly unforced errors in the tie break. yep 7-3 to ivanovic in the tie break and the match.

is the mens final on the same time as the british gp this year?

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 15:59

I have switched from tennis to athletics because thats what Heikkis watching and I was intrigued.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 16:17

Right, I'm back and Murray is on TV. 2 sets to 1 so far. Midway through the third.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 16:25

Right, I'm back and Murray is on TV. 2 sets to 1 so far. Midway through the third.

i feel like thats where they were when i stopped watching but that can't be right :D

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 16:33

i feel like thats where they were when i stopped watching but that can't be right :D

Midway through the fourth, I should have said. Wimbledon clearly boggles my maths.

    Tiebreak now, anyway.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 16:41

    Match point Murray.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 16:41

    Winner!

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 17:32

I was totally wrong about the weather!

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 17:47

Mardy Fish serving for the match against James Ward. A five-setter and apparently he just had heart surgery a month or two ago? Madness!

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 17:50

Fish does it, and there's a big hug at the net.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 17:54

    Hehehe, Rostopher.

Mr C made a Friends reference yesterday. I was so proud.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 18:01

I hope this tie break doesn't last forever

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 18:02

    Hehehe, Rostopher.

I add -topher to almost every person I know with a one syllable name and only about 2% get the reference :(

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 18:02

Mr C made a Friends reference yesterday. I was so proud.

    ooh what did he say?

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:04

    ooh what did he say?

We were talking percentages and he said they should put it on the box!

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:05

Oh yes, please let's leave Nadal and watch Baltacha instead, who has lost serve in the very first game of the match. Bah.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 18:08

We were talking percentages and he said they should put it on the box!

    heheh!

The other day I was watching a One Direction interview, as you do, and they were in Texas and they asked them about Texmex cuisine and one of them randomly pulled out the line "I'M MAKING FAJITAS!"

in other boyband news, Pamela has become a Backstreet Boys fan ever since she got dragged unwillingly to their concert because she had such a good time there. She's only a solid 15 years too late, but thats OK. I welcome her to our fold.

Ooh, lots of lovely stuff to catch up on though!

she downloaded their most recent album but didn't really enjoy it, she wanted songs she recognised so I told her that the Greatest Hits album is probably the best place to start when you have that much back catalogue to conquer.

  • Amy28/06/2012 at 18:19

bah, somehow I've managed to stay up til 4am again even though all my favourites are on the other side of the draw. I'd best retire. Go Rosol!

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 18:25

    night amy

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:34

Baltacha is sucking so bad right now. 6-0 1-0.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:38

Even the BBC got embarrassed and have switched to Nadal. Who is about to lose the second set any time now.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:41

    One set all.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:53

Rosol just broke him again. What is going on!

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:54

Nadal having a right go at the umpire for something. Commentators think he was saying he was complaining about something Rosol was doing before his serves.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 18:54

Showing a replay of Rosol dancing around waiting for return of serve. Maybe that's upset Nadal.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 19:15

Two sets to one for Rosol.

  • lou28/06/2012 at 19:18

This is a really good match! Nadal looks so rattled.

  • Lukeh28/06/2012 at 19:18

Oops... must remember I am on lou's mac...

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 19:19

Massive fist pump after that. It was only for 15-all as well.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 19:23

Way to be a sore loser: http://www.cyprus-mail.com/tennis/livid-karlovic-accuses-wimbledon-officials-murray-bias/20120628

When asked if he felt it was Wimbledon's desperation to see Murray succeed and become a grand slam champion that influenced the decisions he said: "Not Wimbledon, but whole England - or UK, sorry."

    Were the officials biased?

    "Definitely," he snapped..

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 19:42

Nadal breaks in the fourth set. Reckon he'll come back from here.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 19:50

@tomfordyce: Rafa - of course he does - comes steaming back to take the fourth 6-2. They're going to shut the roof now too - 30 min delay to the drama...

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 20:40

Rosol has broken early in the fifth.

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 20:43

Rosol looks on majorly top form. I may have been wrong about Nadal coming back.

  • Steven Roy28/06/2012 at 20:47

Seems like a good time to make my 2012 Wimbledon debut

  • Steven Roy28/06/2012 at 20:49

    And Amy no doubt

  • Mark28/06/2012 at 20:51

Notes on Rosol- hits a ball very hard

  • Steven Roy28/06/2012 at 20:52

    That was ridiculous

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 20:52

    It's just shockingly good.

  • Mark28/06/2012 at 20:54

Rosol has a 6-18 on the ATP tour.

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 20:56

interesting. am watching this match on the new bbc mobile site, designed for ipad/tablets and the streaming is 60+ seconds behind. same as f1 on sky.

i wonder if f1 being delayed is an issue with the ipad, not sky?

  • Steven Roy28/06/2012 at 20:56

He plays like he is used to dominating everyone else

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 20:57

He plays like he is used to dominating everyone else

    Totally!

  • Mark28/06/2012 at 20:57

This is crazy! can't believe Rafa may loose this!

  • Mr C28/06/2012 at 21:02

  • Ryan28/06/2012 at 21:02

    I don't quite believe this.

  • Steven Roy28/06/2012 at 21:02

    That was an unbelievable shot

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 21:02

that warning was the hint to check :)

  • Christine28/06/2012 at 21:03
