Hello everyone, are you enjoying this lovely Sunday? I hope so. Well I’ve got lots of lovely links for you all to help you with your day anyway.
I declare today Coldplay day (sorry non Coldplay fans), If you’ve not heard their brand new single you can listen here.
Now everyone (including us in the UK), can download the single from itunes (consider this a reminder Mr C!). Yaaay! What a summery uplifting song.
Did you see Dr Who yesterday? Christine did, here are her thoughts, what did you think?
We also got to see a great French Open finals tennis match between Li Na and Francesca Schiavone. We live commented it and everything!
Today, Christine is back with more FBFB joy today for the mens final. It’s going to be an exciting match between Federer and Nadal. I can’t wait. I hope you’ll join us in the comments!
Today is also an exciting day for everyone’s favourite ex champion! Jenson and his girlfriend Jessy are taking part in the Blenhiem Triathlon. If you’re local to the area maybe you could pop over and show your support. Either way I’m sure we’ll all send them our best wishes!
Okay, now onto some arty links.
• We often try to make our art work look like photographs, whether this is a correct approach to painting/ drawing is a debate for another day. However a very clever photographer Barbara Cole has found a technique using Polaroid film which makes her photographs look like paintings! No photoshop or anything!
• Ever a fan of surrealism, here are some wonderful photo manipulations for you to enjoy.
• We all know that our grandparents are superheros, but here you can see that Sacha Goldberger has captured how!
• It’s Sidepodspace and Sidepodart all rolled into one, love it!
• If you’ve been in the comments these last 5 months you’re probably realised just how in love with Berlin I am following my study trip there in February. Well here you can see some of the amazing architecture I was fortunate enough to see first hand.
• By far my favourite advert has to be the Sony TV Ad with all the bouncy balls falling down the hill. I’m sure you all remember it. Well some very lucky photographer was on hand at that amazing shoot to capture it. Have a look at their limited edition prints here.
That’s about it for today I’m afraid. I hope I’ve given you enough to keep you entertained for the day. I’ll see you in the comments!
Oooohh Sunday

Indeed - that was the first thing I looked for too!
Giggles Radio is back today from 1984 at 4 PM BST! :D
It is :)
Oooh, giggles and Lou have beef?
Not that I'm aware of :)
Ah, one of those feuds. Always tricky. ;)
I would say what it was all about because of a super injunction.
Heikki is going for Federer. <3
I finally ran even though running sucks and I hate it right now PING http://amysrunning.posterous.com/week-2-day-3-93399
I am with you on that!
why does running for 45 minutes have to take so loooong
I'm off for breakfast... what should I have?
pancakes!
Are you subtly hinting that Christine isn't making enough podcasts ;)
I was thinking of eggs benedict... but maybe I should have pancakes
I wish I could run to podcasts, it might make them even more productive!
Alas I can only run to 90s pop.
have both. Nothing wrong with a 2 course breakfast ;)
Oh... I better hurry up and get to the 90s then :)
good plan!
I think I could run to 1984 as well though :D
I would like one of these too please
Good morning sidepodpeople :)
Good morning!
Oh giggles I have no fued with you. I'm sorry I forgot to plug your show tho, with uni internet being so bad and life there being hectic I rarely catch it (sorry!) And wasn't sure if it was on this week or not.*is a bad giggles radio fan*
Hey Lou, you reminded me of this art installation done a while back where Alexa Meade painted real people in acrylic to make it look like paintings had come to life!
http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/hyperrealistic-acrylic-body
Those super hero grandparents are actually awesome. I always knew my nan ran up buildings saving the world :)
oh woah!! that's amazing!!
Evening all,
-I like the new Coldplay track
-Eggs Benedict is a must for breakfast
-Federer for the French Open
-Love the Photo Geekery!
Hiya matt.
I'm gonna go for Nadal to win today I think, just for his record on clay despite Federer's beastly beating of Novak.
I'm gonna go with Federer, i think he's on top form at the moment.
Might as well put the post up now then :)
http://sidepodcast.com/post/live-french-open-2011-mens-final
I don't know enough about tennis to argue :)
Nadal - Spain - Whiney Alonso.....
Federer - Switzerland - Love that place....
It's a science you know
I like your thinking :)
:D

I don't think the tennis will be over in a jiffy, so I'll watch MotoGP first and catch up on tennis after that. :D
MotoGP bit tedious, as most races in Catalunya.. rain now though could change things up
I've had it on whilst waiting for the tennis and it hasn't caught my interest at all. Catalunya fails in more than one sport it seems :)
It's rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrubbidh.
It held a classic race two years ago but every other race has been as boring as the F1 races here, as far as I recall
They're not repeating '09 in a hundred years - but this was more tedious than usual.
Silverstone next week, hopefully that'll be a better one. On during Le Mans though.
I'm off out to see relatives now, should be back in time for Giggles Radio.
If you don't like tennis remember there's plenty of tin top stuff on today.
Amy, I never realized that you are such a harsh critic of 90's music, however I still think you can run (as in away or flee, rout) FROM THE MUSIC a bit faster by swinging your arms forward and back in the natural movement of runners, not at your sides with you hands squishing your ears.... :P
Oh good. According to the dive's shop schedule, 4 pm BST would have had me underwater in Barrie looking at shipwreck. That would have been not good as I could not listen to Giggles Radio live.
Managed to wheel and deal a dive with them for a dive later in the day after giggles radio. A different wreck in a differnent lake, not not seen by myself or my gal....
Now if only Giggles can only play the 1983 song that's picked for Christine, Amy and Lou, it would be smooth sailing...
But aren't we in 1984?
Anyone willing to help me test a justin.tv channel I just set up and am trying to set up broadcasting on?
I can give it a try.
Cool. Nothing interesting really, right now just testing with Rick Steve's visiting Nice.
http://www.justin.tv/eric_the_baker
Hmmm. No audio?
Hmm, let me work on that.
1) When you figure out why I picked this song for those the people, it is a good laugh, and I think the song managed to be on the hit charts in 1984, so still fits....
2) Giggles did not play it in the 1983 show. Goes to show what a good year 1983 was for music when Giggles did not even play Axel F .........
3) My DeLorean is in the shop getting ready for the summer months, so I can not back to the 1983 show to chance the line-up.... :( At least, not now....
Odd, it says it's at 3-4% volume. Can't figure out how to change it.
But are you seeing decent video?
Looks decent enough to me. A bit low on the fps, but it does ensure it streams properly on slow-ish connections like mine.
Google it?
Yeah, I will. I just installed their streaming software about 10 minutes ago. Dyyno. and still figuring out how to use it.
Thanks for the help. I'll do some more tweaking and see more later.
No worries. :)
Afternoon :)
Hullo Alex. :D Good tennis today.
G'day Professor Doctor Giggles!
Eagerly awaiting 1984!
Exciting stuff :)
I'm gonna post this here because it's just incredible and one for fellow Dr Who fans - 16 years ago this was posted on a Usenet forum
https://groups.google.com/group/rec.arts.drwho/browse_thread/thread/7cd734f99a62ae98/c845f05e9b213df9?lnk=st&q&hl=en&pli=1
Just some random theory about the doctor and the origins of his name. Check out who wrote it, and if you watched last night's episode, it should all together blow your mind :)
Just some random dude then :)
hmmm, i've been watching too much F1... I was in a car chase while playing LA Noire, i found myself looking for the KERS button....
Enjoy a little something from the sidepodcast.com back catalogue.

Hi folks
I want to choose a day tour in the Lake District. I'm deciding between these 2. What do you think? Any advice, or has anyone been to any of these places?

http://www.mountain-goat.com/pages/daily-tours/tour-a.php
Certainly the second option. Been to Keswick and Grasmere and they are both lovely and Kirkstone is impressive.
Um, forgot to add #totallynotherethisisadifferentrg...
Personally I would do the first because I like Roman forts and old railways but anywhere in the Lakes is beautiful wherever you go.
Thank you phantom RG! :)
Sounds like both would be good, so just my choice, maybe.
and back in the lovely daily. time to finish sorting out my room.
Hullo again daily, although I may go lay down. Karting hurts.
Doctor Who punx things: http://springfieldpunx.blogspot.com/2011/06/couple-of-fresh-doctors.html
This thing following the tennis on BBC2 about Endeavour with richard hammond seems good though.
I'm very much enjoying his TechHead podcasts thanks to the recommendation from Christine. Nearly caught up.
Was listening to the doctor who commentaries podcast you recommended a few weeks back the other week Janna, they're really good :)
The other day I mean, was catching up with podcasts and they provided much entertainment. Podcast count unlistened is far too high right now on itunes.
so far i have 223.. but Christine usually beats me by hundreds.
I had a load to listen to but then had a boring data entry job to do at work and they let me listen to my iPod to stop me falling asleep. Nearly caught up now :)

I'm not saying.
i'm going to guess at 511 :)
Evening all.
Did Giggles Radio not happen today? I bet the tennis got in the way
i finally caught up with dr who... O.o
Where did you find him?
aha just chillin in my garden apparently he likes the rain ;)
Lou,
Loved the space/art link on your daily. Did you catch the sidepodspace/photography comment I posted a couple of days ago. It blew Lukeh's mind and we know that has never happened before.
http://sidepodcast.com/post/daily-3rd-june-2011#comment-1109789
:D
ohhhhh that's cool!
I am amazed they managed to filter out all the smoke
I watched the last half hour of that at mum's, it was very good.
I am watching it on the iplayer now
I had no idea that they used the fuel to cool the engines the way they do. That is incredibly clever and presumably the pre-heated fuel burns better and gives out more energy too.
Don't panic - nothing bad happens in this comment :)
Hey everyone. Sorry for the last minute cancellation earlier. As a surprise guest on the show today we were due to be joined by Katherine. She was sitting next to me ready for the stream to start when we decided instead that we might need to visit the hospital!
Katherine was worried that she hadn't felt the baby moving for quite a while. We thought the show would be noisy and distracting which usually works, but KatherIne suddenly decided she was too worried to present a show - which was fair enough! And then we decided we better check what was actually going on.
Of course the moment the monitoring equiptment was attached. The baby started moving and basically hasn't stopping moving about since! Phew!
Just thought you'd all want to know nothing bad had happened :)
Evening all....how's tricks SPC land?
Learnt quite a lot about how NASA deal with coming back into earth and the whole deal with the shape of the ships. Some of the other stuff was a bit of filler for my liking but the actual stuff about how they go about things was quite awesome
Awkward little sod. :D
So happy everything is OK
Phew, good news! I think young master giggles should know about giggles radio's timing by now though :P
Least everything is a-okay for katherine though!
Wanted to host it's own radio(gram) show. A show off that likes to make practical jokes? I think it must take after Katherine ;) (is this right -Ed)
I still have half an hour to go.
The first job I ever had was in the explosives industry and I just found out why some of the explosives had aluminium in them. A bit late to be of any use to me
Thank you for leading with that. :)
Excellent news.
He did steal the show, then, literally.
:D
:D
It was the 1984 show so I guess we can make a nice little conspiracy theory
hehe
:)
Wow, drama in GT1 between Mucke and Westbrook

If Giggles, Jr kicks that often that Kat is more worried it not kicking, it could be a good sign that Giggles, jr wants to be a drummer in a band....
Especially if it is the left foot kicking.... those cymbals are really flying in a few songs....
ah good to know its all okay :) my friend who was pregnant at the beginning of the year had that happen to her twice. freaked her out so much! but poor bubba was just sleeping :)
or he/she is practising stomping on the brake of an f1 car :)
So THAT's what happened! We'd just walked away from Maggots and Becketts and heard there had been drama over the PA. Blimey! What was Mucke doing to retaliating like that?!
He isn't known for being the cleanest or calmest of drivers, but that sort of action is just terrible.
It's arguable that that kind of action kills people. Absolutely appauling driving.

Brake testing is sort of looked down apon in circles F1, Lou. The big trick is to thread Champion's wall chicane in Montreal flat out lap after lap.....
The original move was moronic but the retaliation was insane. He should get a two year ban for that.
The Murray Walker programme is on BBC2 in a moment :)
Hi folks
Murray Walker evening!!
:)
He's due at Le Mans next week. I don't want that sort of driver on that track..
Been looking forward to this :)
wohoo!!
Well, I guess I will be seeing everyone later.
Giggles, glad to see that everything is all right with Kate and Giggles Jr.. If you can move Giggles Radio up an hour and a half, you should be able to clear the START of the Canadian Grand Prix next week by a good mile. Might even do the European Fans a favour by lessing their expose to EJ in the pre-race show...
We do not have pre-race shows here in Tundraland.....
Lou....got to go but I just DM'd you a link you might like on Twitter...
ohh thank you.
Seeing jake swear is just wierd!
Steve Jobs on stage tomorrow

E3 is nearly upon us and the rumours are begining to fly. Apparently Nintendo's successor to the wii may be called the....
*drumroll*
Nintendo Nintendo
Oh dear.. but it would work just to call it a Nintendo seeing as it's such an identifiable name.
Have seen lots of stuff about Nintendo Beem too, especially as nintendobeem.com is owned by Nintendo it seems.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=28298124&postcount=1
ohh dear.. Steve Ryder doesn't sound too healthy there.
He's oddly quiet and raspy isn't he?
wow was Bernie smiling?..
JENSON!!
hehehe Jenson choosing Murray over Ted :)
Ted, Murray and Jenson, what a combination :P
ahhhh unexpected Jenson is the best type :)
Grrrr... still annoyed over Adelaide '94
:/
Woo! The pizza hut advert, was wondering if they'd play it :D
ahhh loved that Jenson and Lewis interview :)
i absolutely adore that all F1 drivers want to go chat to Murray :)
YES!!
Schumacher is Darth vader!
'a fabulous environment to spend your life in' ahhh Murray i think you've summed it up well (i hope)
Wow, didn't realise - that was the F3 media day. I was there !!
Totally agree with Martin - there will never be another murray walker so stop looking.
What a brilliant programme :)
Agree
:)
and you didn't see Murray?..
then again, i wonder how many people at Silverstone today saw JB this afternoon
Fantastic, really enjoyed it
Very nice documentary. Although I never grew up with his commentary (not from the uk..) but having seen a lot of footage/races with him commentating over the past years I must say that he really added excitement to it. And what a lovely man as a person. The bits about his relationship with James Hunt and that commentating was actually not his proper job stood out to me.
SCARY

"Hey, I bet I can jump over that thing"
Oops. What was he thinking????
Thinking was not involved
Yeah, as soon as I posted it I wanted to take it back. I'm surprised his leg wasn't injured on that back wheel, or a host of other things that could happen when you jump out in front of an F1 car.
Hang on, hang on. JB was there today??!
Looked like his foot landed on the opposite sidepod then he landed on his head
How can you tell which end is which with that guy?
Glad he's okay.
The head is the hairy end
I'll bet he can't tell his a*** end from his elbow, judging from the video!
This is me leaving work now. Bad times...
i *think* so. JB's best mate Chris Buncombe raced in the Tri this morning with him and the team and then later popped down to Silverstone to support Chirs' brother Ali. By Chris' tweet it sounded like they all popped down to Silverstone. not sure if JB was with him but they usually travel together.
then again, team Ichiban is pretty big now...
http://yfrog.com/hsywlsbj
Oh yeah, did some intervals earlier, which were more difficult than normal because it was hot today, man!
http://runkeeper.com/user/RubberGoat/activity/38228883
so not ready for it to be morning :(
It's not
why am i going to work then?
Sleepwalking?
I should be so lucky, that would mean I was asleep
You are. You are just dreaming that you are at work
noo!
I am wearing trackies and a hoodie though, its as close as you can come to being asleep with your eyes open. Warm and snuggly :)
:D
I have a friend who sleeps with his eyes open.
Its terrifying
:S :S :S
