We are well and truly into the new year now, the partying is over and it's time to start concentrating on getting back into a routine. It's my final weekend off before returning to work and it'll soon be time to try and remember to put 2010 on documents, instead of scribbling out 2009 for the next few weeks. Meanwhile, here are some of the things on our minds:
- We had just a little bit more nostalgia yesterday, as I posted a best of podcast for the Sidepodradio marathon. There are lots of great bits in there, including Mr C's efforts at cooking, snippets from the quiz, and some travel tips as well. Relive Sidepodradio as if it was yesterday, and get your thinking caps on for Sidepodradio 2.
- Our first non-daily post of the year went up in the form of a note about Jenson Button and his new McLaren outfit. Pictures and video are available of the man in his new uniform, and it'll take a couple of glances to get used to it, trust me. Take a look and let us know what you think.
- We are also ready to start asking for your predictions for 2010 - even if it is impossible to anything from just a glance at one man's new t-shirt. I have listed out a couple of my own thoughts for the new season, but I am rubbish at predictions and no doubt entirely wrong. Why not head over and point me in the right direction?
That'll do it for now, let us know what you're up to this weekend, and I'll see you in the comments.
Good Morning!
Evening sire
First weekend in January. That can only mean FA Cup weekend!
(I may get overexcited over the next two days)
Ooooh Gavin. Was Andrew's response good? or was it tosh?
It can only mean Dakar Rally!
2nd already? This year is flying in
ahem
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/9873/bibip1024je3.jpg
You'll have to look at yesterday's post where we discussed it around tea-time.
Needless to say the email was marked confidential in the sig so I am not sure how much I can divulge.
Which is part of the problem really, because in my response to Andrew I said that he should put some of it on the blog as it was useful info.
more ahem ;-)
http://guille2306-pictures.blogspot.com/2009/12/dakar-2009.html
yeah! I have a 300km trip tomorrow to see it near the end of the first 'real' stage :-)
(on a side note: 800.000 people attended the starting ceremony in the middle of Buenos Aires...)
Glad to see it was the right thing to d oto move the Dakar Rally then!
Not that many then....!
I have mixed emotions. I know that the Dakar belongs to Africa, but it's amazing what we saw here last year. I wouldn't mind a rotating schedule... ;-)
that's only along the avenue after the ramp...
Let's hope Dakar stays safe this year. Of all the major racing events in a year, this has to be the most dangerous one.
Did you know
#Jonfact
Fishing is more dangerous than Motorsport
#Jonfact
Right, I'm off for some of that shut eye that I need. So enjoy the early morning, and lotsa love.
Night RG
we are improving from last year; by this time we already had a women almost rolled over.
it will be a hard balance: there will be more people in the roads this time after the precedent. on the other hand, the safety procedures should have improved, and there are more stages in isolated places like Atacama
night RG
heheh
Great pics! Were they really going for it?
Oh dear. Someone called Emma Kennedy off the telly is being bombarded with tweets for criticising Doctor Who tonight :(
Apparently they didn't make it, but got further than the Fiat Pandas, according to Martin Haven!
Excellent! Hope you have a good time.
2CV's have 2 speeds;
Flat out and Broken Down
I agree. They should take the Dakar back to Africa and hold this event in South America later in the year with a new name. I'm not sure if the teams could afford it though
You would bloody know!
Night. It doesn't feel like early morning, feels like 9 or 10pm. Stupid body clock.
more or less. it was still in competition, but it was 30km before the end of the last special. some were waving, some were going really fast (but maybe not THAT fast). the funny thing is that we saw Despres checking his rear tyre a few meter from us, he was still worried at that point in the race...
I think people take the show far too seriously.
That should be interesting
I'm worried by the fact we're arriving at 8 in the morning to a point were they're passing at 11:30, in the heart of Argentina's motorsport fans land... We'll have to fight for a good spot :-)
The best spots will be taken overnight - but you really love your racing over there. Fantastic. :D
sure. there is people camping in the mountains from the 31th to avoid the closed roads and see them going trough the WRC special,...
diner time for me, see you tomorrow if we make it back at a sensible hour. bye!
adios. have fun
Have fun :-)
Enjoy it!
Could somebody please help me on how to add this to my blog? http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stats/
Or do I already have it???
If it's in your dashboard, I imagine you'll have it. It's already in mine.
Right, so it's no different then... Thanks Tom :)
Reading the description, it does seem like it does the same thing. Possibly...
I have just seen of the most surreal films that I can remember
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs
I think it's automatically built into all wordpress.com blogs. When I had it on my own a year ago it looked almost exactly the same.
Did you see it in IMAX? ;) Very kiddie movie. :)
I need to see it just to see how they stretched that book into a feature length movie.
No, just at home
It was good, weird, but worth it
You know you should go to bed when you're watching the borrower in the corner of the screen do sign-language at you. Isn't it a bit harsh that people who are hard of hearing have to stay up late aswell?
Night all
From now on, my last.fm chart should be more accurate. I've finally figured out how to get Pocket Scrobbler to take my list of songs I've played on my PDA and submit it to last.fm via my desktop computer :)
Night Jon!
I agree. They should take the Dakar back to Africa and hold this event in South America later in the year with a new name. I'm not sure if the teams could afford it though {Comment #27}
It would help if Mauritiana wasn't such a violent place at the wrong times :(
morning all :)
Morning Amy,
Goodnight everybody ;)
Hi Amy!
Night Gavin.
Night Jon, Hi Amy.
I was just combing the Dakar website to find the start time for Saturday's stage, and to see if they still have the live GPS map they used to have last time I followed it a few years ago. I couldn't find either.
Night
:D Dancing with yourself much? ;)
I don't dance full stop! #human
What, ever?
How is that possible?
Well, dancing occurs when drunk, but drunkenness occurs once a year, if that.
Ditto
Even at home, when no one's around, just a little bit?
#wavesfromthedaily
#nothere
Ahem
Err, hi
hmm, its not what I would call dancing, but I suppose some people would :D
#wavesback
#ishere

No-one, NO-ONE can't stop themselves dancing to this

#bestnotwatchthevideoretro
I would just like to say, incidentally, that movement alongside music is roughly categorised as 'dancing'
How bad it may be, is not the issue ;)
See I want to click it but know I shouldn't
What is it?
DO IT!!!! ITS AMAZING
#nothere
#sleeping
I can.
I don't believe you
[Moves to mute icon] ;)
[Clicks]
I can because I'm in bed.
dancing isnt necessarily full body movement, im in bed and dancing along.
#bestsong
#gooniwontjudgeyou
#ilied
Bed in the afternoon?!
Acyually, that's not as bad as I thought
Can't dance to that though as I'm too fixated by the costumes :D
I only woke up 40 minutes ago.
Life of a bum, eh? :P hehe.
Ahh, weekends
Lie-in Central :)
its called the weekend!
I woke up at 9. :D
you're insane. Anything before noon on a weekend is too early.
Waking up & getting up are entirely different
Been up since 9 too. :)
:D True dat. But hey, my body clock made me get up. :)
my usual weekend goes wake up, go and get coffee and breakfast, come back to bed and eat/drink it, open the laptop and catch up on all the spc comments since I left last night, then get up and go about my day.
waking up and getting up have never been easy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIt7eWa0oG4
Elastica, I'm guessing
No one told me Live Lounge 4 was out!
[Next year's montage tracks, no doubt
Journeyer, do you want the list now? ;)]
I fully agree. :) Yeah, track list please. :D
I'll chuck it [tracklist] on the drop, we can tick them off later
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
It cannot be :(

What audio/visual treats did you watch today Mr C?
ahh, nothing, that policebox programme got in the way. think something is scheduled for tomorrow though.
*quote fail
right for the second day in a row, I am off outside. This time to the markets!
Enjoy, catch ya later Amy
One minute you are complaining that there is never anyone here to talk yet when there is you go outside. ;)
Have fun
This still counts as "everyone asleep" because its only the usual nocturnal suspects left :P
Charming! [tuts]
I don't know why I bother with my ISP's email anymore
30MB limit is ridiculous
I'm emptying the trash every 2 weeks or so due to a full inbox
Thank the lord of Gigglybits for Gmail
I haven't left yet because my flatmate wants to come too so now I'm waiting for her. One of our neighbours is practicing opera singing. Apparently she does it every day. I am glad I've never heard it before, shes awful.
Rent 'The Fifth Element' whilst you're out
Play the opera mash-up scene towards the end, very loud, when you get back
See how she likes it. If nothing else, it'll freak her out
hooray a successful day at the market. I am going to the movies tonight, any recommendations of something good to see?
Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, A Christmas Carol. Any of the three. :)
the last one isn't showing here at the moment and the first two don't appeal to me at alllllll. My flatmate wants to see Sherlock Holmes though so we might go to that.
a Christmas carol is verrryy good. I would watch that!
Morning everyone :)
There is a very cute Panda photo in the guardian today. But unfortunately it doesn't appear to be online. Boo!
Morning all.
Was at the in-laws yesterday afternoon, and my mother-in-law got mixed up and called Avatar "Abbatoir". That would have been a rubbish film, especially in 3D.
OMG!!!!
http://satansthong.tumblr.com/post/312719060/dalek
Wrong thread Gav. But awesome!
Oh bloody hell :(
Having said that, Doctor Who has been prolific on here as well ;)
The final weekend of Xmas! :( Nooooo!
At least Apple are still doing the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway!
I can watch Live shows on my PS3!!! YAY! No excuse to miss any now...
Morning all. Best Saturday ever.
This might make you sad if you are a fan of Tony Hart, but it's lovely all the same: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/8429598.stm
Morning everyone
Morning you and everyone else BTW ;)
we went to nowhere boy instead. It was fantastic!
Not exactly a blog post as such but here's something for the Dr Who fans - http://toata.wordpress.com/2010/01/02/54-i-dont-want-to-go/ - to be honest I don't think I need to say anything else!
Is it permissable to discuss the episode or will it still spoil it foe some people?
More than happy to on my post but I would assume it would be OK to do so here? We were all going on about what happened last night in the comments anyways :P
Depends if there's anyone around who reeeeeeally doesn't wanna know what happens
Me! oh wait I've seen the episode part of me wishes I hadn't.
Alright then *SPOILER ALERT*...
Why does the Doctor have to die to be regenerated, and why does he come back different?
me ;)
just kidding! I am home now. Movie was grand. Something terrible has happened though, I did not win the lottery.
There is an explanation out there somewhere explaining it in terms of the shows storyline but I can't remember it for the life of me, boo
I read the plotline on wikipedia and saw the last scene on YouTube. Is the regeneration always upon death?
The Doctor can actually die but if he's killed during regeneration. It's something along the lines of a timelord gets 12/13 (I forget how many) lives and when one is ended, then he simply regenerates into a new life form. I'm really rubbish at explaining it though so I'm sure someone else could do a better job and actually make sense :)
There is pretty much everything you could ever want to know on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regeneration_(Doctor_Who)
:)
Hello all, could someone tell me whose picture of a panda this is on the drop? I'd really like to put it on my phone if that's OK.
The Doctor regenerates so that they can change actors, there really is no other explanation ;)
Aww how sweet!
I see David Croft is doing the darts again.
That's a great [unofficial] pic for any Engineering organisation
Afternoon peeps
My fault sorry!
I love it, I want to make it poster sized & put it on my desk at work but I don't think they'll let me
Hi. I slept for ages and now I am in a 'doing' mood. Have already taken the recycling to the place (stupid council not picking it up when they picked up everyone else's). Now lunch, then hoovering.
Have you seen this jump by Travis Pastrana? World record for a car, he used a Subaru WRX.

Lookin' good isn't he?
Better than whatever Rosberg and Schumacher will be wearing ;)
Here's the live site for the Dakar.
http://www.dakar.com/us/DAKAR/2010/live.html
Go to the 'Tracking' page for timing updates, it doesn't seem to update by itself, only when you switch between bikes/cars. I'm only checking it every 10 mins though
I think he's going to have a good season.
Here's the proper link ;)

Feels good to have clean carpets again ;)
A pictorial article on Colin Chapman: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2010/01/02/retrospective-gt-gt-colin-chapman-a-wayward-genius.aspx
Here is something for you to read Mr C: http://mediafuturechange.com/2010/01/02/movie-clips-are-paramount/
ta.
That's too easy!
:P
Gotta break him in gently.
I have noted that Mercedes wants a top 3 position next year according to Nick Fry.
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12433_5821177,00.html
This seems a somewhat low target considering they are the World Champions.
but then again he said "All of Formula One wants Michael back" and that it is good for the sport - cannot she how the return of the biggest cheat in the history of the sport is good.
lost in translation, clearly he meant to say:
"all of Formula One wants a knife in michael's back"
I think the only positive is some drivers want the opportunity to beat Michael before he returns to his zimmer chair.
While Mercedes is targeting a top three position, Renault seem to have the same expectation.
""We are not going to produce a car that catapults us to the front because F1 is very competitive. But our 2010 expectations are to run towards the front and challenge for the top three."
Considering they had arguably the best driver on the grid and a multiple world champion this year and finished third last I can confidently predict that unless they retain Robert and get Nick they will not be a top three runner. That is my 2010 F1 prediction!
wrong thread :)
am disappointed in renault.
Sorry - did not see the other post about predictions.

An interesting interview with Tony Fernandes:
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/80721
He says F1 won't be global until it has a night race at Silverstone for the millions watching in Asia
I have got a bit behind on my Film Watch posts. Here are two catchups:
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/01/02/film-watch-26-dances-with-wolves/
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/01/02/film-watch-27-blade-runner/
seems fair enough. the world cup and the olympics manage that.
"Lotus was a tired brand, but it shouldn’t be"
yikes, that's going to go down well.
I do think it'll be pretty cool to have at least one European night race. It would help audiences in the Americas too
Just discovered Sidepodcast recently and thought I'd take this opportunity to say what a great site it is. Well done and thanks!
Hi Lara, thanks and welcome!
I know it was an off-the-cuff remark, but like that's going to happen. Ambient temperatures in the evening, even during midsummer, in the UK would lead only lead to complaints from drivers and teams alike.
Bad news for Alex & Kat :-(
http://twitter.com/alexandronov/statuses/7306518660
hey ya lara, much appreciated. if you don't mind me asking, how did you find us?
Oh no!!! :(
aww man :( :(
hey lara
! :(
Hi Lara, welcome aboard!
Hello! Welcome :)
Actually through a friend, I'm sorry don't know how she got to know about it. I'll be sure to tell my F1 friends about it too though!
Surely it won't be truly global until it has a big enough audience in all parts of the world so that everyone can have races at 2pm local time.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :D
Its what we do well, be friendly.
I think the only thing that will help grow the American audience is to have more races in that area.
much appreciated :)
if you have ten minutes to kill, and if you haven't already, i recommend a peek at christine's guide:
http://sidepodcast.com/about/new-to-sidepodcast-quick-start-guide/
and also the wiki (although it's easy to get lost in there for hours):
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/
Second best place on the internet :)
Oooh thanks, I'll take a look now :D
I would say that is fair comment. There was a time when Lotus cars were talked of along with the other brands mentioned and now they are not.
I've lost count of the number of Americans who said they have trouble getting up to watch the European races.
agreed. but it's not going to be appreciated by those at hethel is it?
That is horrible. I hope there is not too much damaged or stolen.
Hi Lara. I hope you find the time to comment regularly
Might also help to have, say, more American races.
It would help existing fans but it won;t have any real effect on possible new fans
I hope so to, this looks like fun and you all seem very friendly
I am sure some will take offence at it but someone like Danny Bahar who is new there will probably have said the same thing at his interview.
Oops my last comment was supposed to be a reply to this....
If you are not already there try http://sidepodcast.com/realtime/ That lets you watch and comment on all threads at the same time. It's the only way you will have a clue what is going on half the time.
Thanks, I am.
Looks like you have sorted out quoting too
Yep, was a bit slow there. Got it now though :)
And so the sidepodaddiction begins :P
Wave goodbye to your life :D
Oh dear....
And once Christine's rookie guide and the wiki have been dealt with you should also have a look at http://drop.io/sidepodcast/ You can add any kind of file you want to share there. There is about a year's worth of funny/interesting stuff there
Sidepodaddiction can be measured. Seriously. There is a wiki page for that http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Stages+of+a+Sidepodaddiction
Evening all... what's going on 'ere then?
Thanks for all the kind messages earlier :)
Hi Alex.
How is your house
Very very messy. They overturned the bed and went through everything looking for valuables. Luckily we don't have anything very much worth stealing :)
As far as we can tell they took the telly, my work laptop, a printer and some wii games that we didn't like enough to take with us for Christmas.
But they caused quite a mess. The most annoying thing is that they moved the dvd player and the apple tv and sky box getting what they were after and one of them is making a weird noise but I don't know which because I can't touch them until the prints man comes. And second they moved the main computer because they were obviously going to nick it but in the end decided not and again I'd like to know if it's working but can't touch it until SOCO get here.
hey chap.
evening :)
aww man.
do you know if it happened today?
No idea. Could have been any time in the last week.
there are some pictures on the drop...
Evening Alex. Hope you guys aren't too shaken up.
But they didn't take them? How odd.
Stupid people, grrrrr at them. Shows how stupid they are at moving something obviously then leaving their prints there for the police to happily take!
It doesn't matter how much security you have in any house as there is always glass that can be broken.
They also went in the filing cabinet, but once they opened the first draw didn't work out that they needed to close the first draw to open the next one. They didn't take anything from there either.
They probably don't want to be carrying anything too big as it looks suspicious and increases the chance of being caught
I mean walking down the street with a 32" telly is suspicious, but a 32" telly and a computer COME ON!!! ;)
I wonder how long before there will be a fingerprint scanning app for the iphone
:)
hey everyone. i hope all is okay at châteaux giggles.
hey lou
Yeah we'll be fine. Just a bit annoying. Now mainly annoyed at the waiting. Turns out you lose a lot of heat through your back door!
oh goodness, at least it isn't snowing. i hope the people come soon enough so you can start sorting things :)
bernie certainly does ;)
howdy lou.
Evening
After reading Fernandes' comments I'm wondering, if Donington has kept the british GP, how Simon Gillett would have proposed the circuit hosting a night time race if it was suggested. I can't help but think his idea would be stewards with torches.
Or a giant hole with a big light in it.
hehehe i've just noticed Jenson's new twitter picture.. you can't help but laugh really..
he'd suggest that less planes fly at night, so more seats for f1 people.
Hah! didnt notice that :)
Also better for it to be something like that than a boring corproate Mclaren picture ;)
oops... Timo when asked about his favourite road car says it is a Nissan GTR no wonder Toyota stopped him from racing the last two events.
http://www.virginracing.com/drivers/timo/questions/
Hope you're OK Alex!
He didn't appear to smile like that at Toyota I'll tell ya that
Don't be surprised if Gillett pops up in the near future with a plan for a night time GP
He certainly looks more "causal" since joining Virgin.
Project Giant Hole Mk. 2
It's the leather jackets.
I think it is the grey hoodie beneath the leather jacket - I am going to support the team during 2010.
I think they're going to be the new Renault team except without Flavio....
Loss of Flavio is only a benefit.
Why, of course! Evil, evil man!!!
Here's a thought: Whatever became of Giorgio Pantano? Trying to pick up an IndyCar ride, apparently...
Yeah I was going to mention that to you the other day. How odd!
Only GP2 winner not be picked for F1 in the following season isn't he?
Heh. Just catching up with Reader again.
I think so. Clearly the F1 teams know something we don't. I know he's not the best ever to appear but I never thought he was that bad.
That reminds me - I thought of something to comment on your blog. BRB!
Really? Ok..
Here's a more positive spin on Pantano..
He drove in F1 during 2004 but was replaced by Timo at Jordan after failing to impress.
05: Rosberg to Williams in 06
06: Hamilton to McLaren in 07
07: Glocky to Toyota in 08
08: Pantano to nowhere in 09
09: Hulkenberg to Williams in 10
That was the link I saw too!
Hello all :P
Took a trip into the city today, first off to get my large container of change turned into cash. The machine I use for it charges something like 8.9p for every £1 and I ended up getting almost £100. So I decided to go buy a few things - a Rocky wall poster, Muse's The Resistance (for £5!), Sim City 3000 UK Edition, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, All-In-One Driving Test CD-Rom (to help me for my practical test when I book it) and F1 Championship Edition on PS3 for my dad as he got one for Xmas.
Then quickly devoured 20 nuggets and a large still Fanta from McD, caught the train back to Wymondham and walked home in the snow. Good day, me thinks. :)
Jesus Christ scott, you're gonna make me fall in love with you with purchases like these!! Epic, epic choices. Now I want to play RCT2...
Steady on there...
:D
Change coins in the bank. They don't charge anything.
Evening Scott, it does sound like a good day
*ehem*
I know it was an off-the-cuff remark, but like that's going to happen. Ambient temperatures in the evening, even during midsummer, in the UK would lead only lead to complaints from drivers and teams alike. {Comment #175}
Silverstone? Definitely not?
Valencia, on the other hand...
Oops. Urmm.. ur.. You should buy Rollercoaster Tycoon 2? ah wait, that's not the right one...
oh!
sorry? :)
*already has said game*
hmm ;)
Woohoo! :P
don't have time to play it anymore though.. stupid alevels..
He loves you more than his favourite rollercoaster?
and you were worried about the turtles
hahahahaha :D
:(
I like Turtles!
Only GP2 winner not be picked for F1 in the following season isn't he? {Comment #252}
Making a pig's ear of a previous attempt at F1, plus having sponsors fail to pay out and winning the year only one F1 driver retires generally do not help matters. Had he won 2009 rather than 2008, he might have got in - but only because there are so many new places opening.
Epic, epic choices. Now I want to play RCT2... {Comment #261}
I've got RCT2 as well, but it's not installed at the moment...
If anyone's in the area, apparently Adrian Sutil is going to be at the Delhi Auto Expo on Thursday. He'll be at the OVERDRIVE stall (did they take punctuation lessons from AUTOSPORT?).
Whoever said that I was accident prone is looking more and more right.
You definitely win the goriest tweet of the evening award.
Still not as off-putting as Stan Collymore though!
Really? Was it the 'Wait a minute, that's blood coming out. Uh oh.' or another?
That's the one sir!
Ah, yes, thought so.
Doesn't sound good!
What did yo do this time?
Tom G is the Johnny Knoxville of Sidepodcast!
Hey Lara, haven't seen you around these parts before, welcome to sidepodcast :)
Trapped my finger in my chair, which turns out now to have broken. The chair, not my finger.
I don't do many stupid things to get myself either hurt or killed, it's all accidents!
I guess that must be better than breaking the finger...
Ow.
How hard is your finger?
Hello! Yes, I'm new but already loving it here. Spent evening reading loads of stuff on here. It's great :)
wohoo! tis the best way to spend the evening ;)
Do you yearn to look at F1 from the numbers perspective? If so, you should check out my F1 blog called 'Making Up The Numbers' ;)
Aren't the archives great?
Well, the bit that's been crushed has turned into a big callus. Luckily, it was to the side of the finger, not on the bone. The chair wasn't broken by my finger, but I'm not sure if it helped.
Hello and welcome. :)
You would be correct.
hehehe never missing a chance to plug blogs :) ehehe
Haha, my eyes are a bit square from all the reading tonight but I'll be sure to look at it later, thanks for the link.
I was gonna say. Hope your finger doesn't turn out to be too bad.
I don't want to, go down that route.
Well she said she wanted to catch up on some reading ;)
There's just so much.... I won't be bored for a while now! It's great for when you're really missing F1.
You'll wonder when the F1 returns how you watched races without live commenting, honestly
Hello all... just getting over the hangover from my beer tasting / poker event last night.
The banter's not half bad either. :)
Oooh RG, you're a Timo fan? I rather like him myself :D
Timo fan is understatement of the year I think :P
I like you, I really do :)
Ah well, anyone who likes Timo is good in my books :D
If you like Alonso, then you're already my best friend!
Mr C's kinda a fan of Alonso... i think...
I like Alonso ... and Timo isn't bad either!
Anyone who likes Timo is a legend in my books. I set my bar a bit low though.
I'm dreading going ice skating on Monday, because I might actually die next time.
Oh well, I'm a bit obsessive over Alonso.... haha
eheheh like i am with Jenson then... heheh you'll fit right in here :)
Yay!! I think with Alonso people either love or hate him. I am definitely the former :)
Don't worry, most of us are obssesive with one driver.
You'll find there are plenty of obsessives here with their own drivers ;)
Alonso is rather awesome, i'm pleased he's off the ferrari should make for awesome races :)
Ah good, I don't mind Jenson either!
Ha, as lou said, I think I'll fit right in then.
this is brilliant news. you'll probably pick up from the archives that i'm obsessive over Jenson and.. used to be very obsessive over brawn/ honda... ahhh good times..
Oh I really can't wait for him in a Ferrari. It's going to be way too awesome.
Just realised that I was headpinged by my own house earlier: http://twitter.com/alexandronov/status/7297722708
do you have a wiki page yet?
Good Lord, was it really the 6th December that I signed up for the wiki? Time flies!
Evening Dan.
She's only been here five minutes!
You mean the SPC regulars thingy? I may add myself at some point, yes.
Hello Lara W. Welcome!
I assume somebody has check to see that Lara and Pat are no relation?
part of the furniture now!
I certainly am, which is bad news for the work I was supposed to do!
Are you quite new as well then?
:-)
I approve of the choice of screen name.
must have been the monster.
Its not compulsory though....
Hello and thanks! I don't think we are.... ;)
Oh - and neither is having a blog or saying yes to anything that Steven suggests ......
Ah I think that's a yes from you LPG!
by some point do you mean tomorrow? eheh ;)
To me, it is.... ;)
Best Monkey Cartoon of the day!

rofl...
I had a blog longgggg before mr Roy muttered about them... I had an online diary before blogger existed...
LPG now feels her age....
that's why i asked you when it happened.
w00t!
I'm afraid, by my standards at some point, is not going to be tomorrow...... hahaha
We don't know sadly and probably never will.
Sounds like me with any work at all.
We decided to come home a day early yesterday at about 6pm. So it could have been then.
Oh I'm a champion at procrastination.
Woohoo - I'm not the only refusenik...
Ah, glad I'm not the only one...
You really will fit in here
Procrastiantion is the first commandment here at Sidepodcast. Sadly, we got distracted from writing the rest
:D :D :D
:-)
:D
:D
haha :D
Lukeh you're a genius.
Everning all!
A friend of a friend has put me onto this blog; http://matf1.blogspot.com. Give it a read, see if you like it, by what i've been told he's trying to go big on blogging (hoorah) so have a butchers and see what you like, comment away.
Comment of the year? Two days in.
ooooooooooh!
we forgot!!
I'll shuffle the wiki around.
thank you sir.
we need to look back and maybe get down to the best five or ten and we'll have a poll or something.
Hi Jon. Link doesn't work.
http://matf1.blogspot.com/
Here it is: http://matf1.blogspot.com/
Hehe, just made my page for the wiki...
we're off to watch a film... this film: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1041829/
christine begged and pleaded with me to watch it with her and being the long suffering husband that i am, i've reluctantly agreed to sit through an hour and a half of sandra bullock.
Comment of the Year 2010 contenders go in here. Might be remembered on time this time next year... ;)
And the 2009 contenders
WHAT??? Tell the truth.
they can't handle the truth.
Jack Nicholson he ain't. :P
thanking ya.
For a minute there, I thought 'Sandra Bullock' was Cockney rhyming slang.
hahahaha
i hope you have alcohol
fine, i bought it (because it's not available to rent) and i paid for it.
not a word. not a single word. ok?
ah :-D
That is not going to happen
Just what I was thinking :D
Its ok. Guilty pelasures are what we all have.
*looks at love actually dvd*
Is it bad that we recently bought Elizabethtown on DVD because I watched it once and liked it?
I'm watching superbikes (not live), trying to figure it all out. Nice to have racing on but I can't say as I really care what happens.
i saw the film in the cinema...I didn't really have a choice in it, it was surprising... Not the worst film I've seen.... By no means the best though
I've never really gotten into superbikes. I prefer MotoGP.
alls i know is that mr Toseland did good, he went to Moto GP and was rubbish, therefore Superbikes are rubbish QED
;)
Any particular word we should avoid?
It could be worse - we've ust watched the Horne/Corden vampire film (it was a freebie on the 12 days thing). And quite enjoyed it...
Superbikes used to be better though.
Me too. I did watch a few races when Edwards was still in it and I heard '09 was a good year so I thought I'd check it out. All I've learned so far is the bikes sound like DTM cars and the passing seems too easy..
I saw that, and even for free, I hid from it in fear.
Not saying a word.
Wasn't that one of iTunes' 12 Days free downloads?
I think 'Speed' remains the best Sandra Bullock film
Indeed
Yes it was.
Time for Kill for me.
Gets me everytime. :(
Demolition Man?
We have Premonition on DVD. Is that any good? My mum's watched but I've never been interested in it.
Time TO Kill, even.
ah yeah that is a good one, and quite emotional
a question for you all.. does anyone know much about this rally at goodwood?it's the weekend after my last exam of the half term, and as admission is free i may try and get down there to take pics as a treat...
No Group B cars in the entry list. Boo :(
was never a fan
Although there is a Ford Focus WRC on there. It's on the reserves list though.
Boo. Classic popcorn no brainer film that one!
That was a good film.
looks good, all experience is good experience....Rally's can be harder than circuit venues for photos as you cant spend a session lining up a photo that you want, depending on the type of rally you'll only see each car 3 or 4 times, so you have to get it then and there!
Matthew Mcagaoshoneyeemdh(spelling is a bit wrong) is actually fantastic in it for once!
Speaking of Goodwood, when do tickets go on sale for the FoS and the Revival?
And he doesn't have a shiny head or veneer-grin in it either!
sounds like something i'm going to need to practice.. so it can only be good to attend :) expand the portfolio and what not :P
ooh I need to get them soon!
will check.. they announced the theme.. so it must be soon... ish..
I actually want to go to the FOS this year - it's one of the things on my 2010 list!
Plus, I suggested getting tickets to the Revival as a present for my grandad who is 65 this year. He loves classic cars and my nan said that he's always wanted to go there.
Which is? :P
I can't wait for the FOS again. Really, really can't wait.
Plus, if it doesn't happen at ASI if they choose not to go this year, I can meet Christine and Mr C. That would mean two of my goals reached on one day :D
soon?? it's january...thats waay too much planning.. :P
am going to wait till they announce the drivers attendance list and then hopefully be hyper enough to buy them then :P
If Jenson's there, are you going to try to punch him and get a full house?
Based on my hotel adventures last year, seems a good idea to start thinking about accomodation already I'd say
I gots Goodwood 2010 dates here:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/243928/
twas announced in november, it's... *checks website* 'Viva Veloce - the passion for speed'... another theme is
'Running alongside the 2010 Festival central theme, Goodwood will also celebrate 60 years of the Formula One World Championship, with a gathering of cars and drivers that have shaped the history of motor sport’s most glamorous series.'
so i expect there to be lots of f1 stars there again :)
link
Theme for the 2010 FOS is all about the Italians - "Viva Veloce! - The Passion of Speed".
http://www.evo.co.uk/news/evonews/245407/goodwood_festival_of_speed_2010.html
That means Ferraris.
And 50 years of the RAC Rally is going to be celebrated too. That means classic rally cars, which must mean Group B! :D
i'm not sure i could cope getting that close to Jenson again.. seriously.. have never been shaking so much. lol plus i don't actually do the punching of celebrities.. i leave that to the others.
they are only provisional atm.
OK... how much is FOS? Is there an onsite campsite? We have a stupid sized tent....
depends on how many days you want to go for. last year one day was around £45-50 for an adult.. and for 3 days it was around £107... i think. and yep there is an onsite campsite.
gasp! I just realised my favourite comment of 2009 isn't even on the wiki list. I am a bad wiki editor.
ahhh.. you raise a very good point. *crosses fingers* hopefully i'll have passed my driving test by then so it wont matter if i'm not staying on the doorstep of the festival.. as such..
