We're heading into another weekend now, where F1 headlines tends to tail off. Last week we were confronted with the news that Webber was in hospital, so if that's the kind of off-season topics we have in store, I'd rather keep playing I Spy! However, here's what else we're talking about.

  • Steven Roy believes that Honda's choice is between Senna and Barrichello, and that di Grassi has no chance. Boo. Who's your money on? Also they are apparently dropping the Earth Dreams livery, so what do you think their next paint job will look like?
  • The man, Dank and Ian from Racing Bulls got to go to the Red Bull factory. We're all sincerely jealous and want to hear about it on Sunday. Come up with some great questions and we can pump him for information.
  • Jon raised two very important questions: Why is it that Jack Bauer and James Bond never die? And why do spies never have to fill up with fuel?
  • Don't forget to let us know if you're attending Autosport International and what day you're going to be there. That's if you want to catch up with us, of course. We won't take offence if you don't!
  • Sidepodspace I Spy is currently with Andy Taylor and the letter S.

You can also tell us if you're doing anything exciting this weekend, because we're very nosy like that. You don't have to stick to the topics I've written above, share anything on your minds. I'll see you in the comments.

So just to summarise the guesses so far have all been incorrect.

I am not thinking of a country, town, desert, celestial body or item(s) of clothing. It is man made.

And - just for me - FIRST!

I'd like to see Honda using British Racing Green, mainly because I miss Jaguar on the grid and also because that color rocks and needs to be back on the grid. However, I'm betting on either a) black or b) white. Booorring.

  • Aitch29/11/2008 at 05:43

How about black with orange flames?

  • Jackie29/11/2008 at 06:33

Please Honda don't have the Japanese flags Red and White colours, it's confusing enough to have McLaren and Force India's livaries looking similar without adding another red and white car into the mix.

I vote for yellow .. I miss the Jordans!

  • Le BOL29/11/2008 at 13:44

Why is it that Jack Bauer and James Bond never die?

Because they don't really exist. I think so. No? Yes?

Featured F1 minute on me new blog, gave it a slightly different title - "F Juan 60 seconds" (remember that 2004 Australian JPM accident, Juan who won one? quite memorable), there's also an important survey / opinion poll going on, cast your vote, Formula 1 future depends on ya.

Honda’s choice is between Senna and Barrichello, and that di Grassi has no chance

    It's going to be Sato.

Sorry, White with red highlights have been traditional racing colours of Japan, and by extension Honda, since Surtees took the V12 Hondoloa to victory in the '67 Italian Grand Prix.

Ferrari should have Dark Blood red. As an Italian Team, they are intitled to any shade of red they wish by tradition.

Now, if I had my way, here is what you would see:

Toro Rosso, as another Italian Team, are entitled to a shade of red comepletly different to Ferrari, but in a very light shade of red say the scarlets or pinkish shades. Seems to be they would be better off with scarlet.

Renault. Since as a name, you cannot get any more French than Renault (Except for Ligier) French Blue, A Dark Shade of Blue is their main colour. Yellow Highlights.

Toyota shall either have White with silver highlights or they are allowed the traditional colour of their adopted country, Germanic Silver.

BMW shall use the traditional colours of Bavaria. So except to see a Cornflower Blue (Dark Sky Blue) car with White or Silver Highlights. Don't dare confuse mthem for the old Marches or Leyton Houses...

Force India will use Saffron (Golden Orange) and Green Highlights.

Red Bull I am stuck on as I have no idea if Austria was given Racing Colours.

McLaren gets Black and White Highlights with an orange nose. Oh look, a KIWI on wheels! Moves about as fast as one too!

Williams gets Dark British Racing Green. Should at the very least have a deep Blueish tinge too it, with white highlights.

  • Jordan Allen ()29/11/2008 at 15:19

BTW, Super Aguri is allowed an all-white car as they have surrendered.....

So, is anyone actually alive for Sidepodpanel this Sunday?

  • Mark Smith29/11/2008 at 18:46

so what do you think their next paint job will look like?

Didn't Honda run an all-black livery in testing a couple of years ago? I'd love to see that as the race livery, maybe with red highlights.

Don’t forget to let us know if you’re attending Autosport International

I will definitely be going on the Saturday. I'll likely as not be wearing a long grey coat and a trilby if you want to wave at a fellow Sidepodcast listener.

i didn't take the usual dslr, it didn't seem appropriate to wander around top secret rooms with a lens the size my forearm. instead i took a pocket camera and for some reason widescreen is what it shoots.

  • Felipe Leite29/11/2008 at 19:25

This weekend we have two awesome events here in Brazil. Desafio das Estrelas (Stars Challenge), a kart event organized by Felipe Massa in Florianopolis and Renault Road Show in São Paulo. I have strong connections with both of them, as the kart event is just 2 miles away from where I used to live in Florianopolis, and the event here in Sao Paulo will be just 1 mile away from home :)

Piquet will drive a Renault at the streets of São Paulo, around Ibirapuera Park. I will be there and I hope I can get a few pictures and put them at drop.io. I think they will be running a R27 from 2007.

But the kart event will be more exciting. There will be a lot of drivers from the F1 world. The qualifying just ended now, and here are the grid positions:

    1 - Lucas diGrassi

2 - Vitantonio Liuzzi (former Kart World Champion)

    3 - Rubens Barrichello

4 - Michael Schumacher (an unknown driver. His greatest achievement was to win this competition last year :))

5 - Thiago Camilo (brazilian stock car driver)

    6 - Antonio Pizzonia (former F1 driver)

7 - Allam Khodair (great kart driver, have raced for A1GP, he is racing at Brazilian Stock Car now)

8 - Ricardo Zonta (drove for BAR, Jordan and Toyota as a test driver)

9 - Max Wilson (F3000, Australian V8 Supercars, will move to Brazilian Stock Car next year)

10 - Marcos Gomes (he is leading the Brazilian Stock Car season)

11 - Luciano Burti (former Jaguar driver, Ferrari test driver. Drives for the stock car series and is commentating F1 races in brazilian TV)

    12 - Felipe Massa

    ...

18 - Alexandre Barros (former MotoGP driver)

19 - Luca Badoer (Ferrari test driver)

20 - Tony Kanaan (former IRL champion)

    ...

24 - Roberto Pupo Moreno (drove for a lot of small teams in F1 - Coloni, AGS, Forti Corse, was a Lotus and Ferrari test driver during the 80s, won the F3000 series once. His best achievement in F1 was a second place in Japan after Nelson Piquet in 1990. Was replaced by a certain Schumacher during the 1991 season).

25 - Jeff Gordon (4 times Nascar champion)

Last year race was a lot of fun, with Schumacher fightinbg for it with Nelson Piquet Jr and Lucas diGrassi for the win.

This year's race will have a special meaning, as the last weekend saw an horrible flood in Santa Catarina (the same state were the challenge is held), which resulted in more than 109 deaths and more than 70 thousand were evacuated and are now homeless, as they lost almost everything. Every driver will carry a phrase to ask for help for those who are in need:

The race will be tomoroow, with two rounds: one at 11:15am and the other one at 2:00pm - I believe the UK diff now is just two hours, as we are in DST, so it will be 1:15pm and 4pm respectivelly. Exhibition space costs £250 per square metre according to the show's website. On the plus side, they do throw in free carpet cleaning. You wouldn't want the punters to see four days worth of dust on your stand.

I'm like that when looking for things to buy at the show. That's the reason I go on the Sunday, because on the last day the vendors always try to get rid of their stock so in the last few hours of the show they slash their prices and do good deals to sell more stuff. Haha, no theres loads. Theres loads of shops and stalls that sell all manor off stuff. I bought a poster celebrating 50 years of Formula Ford last year, for like a fiver. (dont ask) but yer, theres loads. Have a good look round this year, its actually awesome….if your into all that stuff…

Fair enough. The only thing we ever bought was some gloves from a charity auction because a pretty girl asked us to.

  • Maverick29/11/2008 at 20:32

Exhibition space costs £250 per square metre according to the show’s website. On the plus side, they do throw in free carpet cleaning. You wouldn’t want the punters to see four days worth of dust on your stand.

    32" LCD TV - around 80cm wide, 9cm deep = a footprint of 0.072 m2 or £18.

If only it was that simple...

Could everyone who has expressed interest and not paid me please send me their e-mail address to alianora . lacanta @ yahoo . co . uk or through the PM system so that I can invoice you? • Andy Taylor29/11/2008 at 21:51

    The guy from Countryfile?

Yes! He invented Newsround - telling children the news stories of the day without being patronising. Newsround was one of the few programmes to cover space exploration in the 70s and 80s when the Soviets were keeping men in space for months at a time while the US was trying to make the Shuttle work. The programme also broke the news of the loss of Challenger in 1986 (which I remember).

And it was a broad-spectrum e-mail, since I believe there are several people here who may be interested, signed up but not sent me any money (which if they haven't received an invoice yet is hardly surprising!)
