Well, the big news is all about Williams, of course, but until we start to see reactions from the other teams, or find out more about what FOTA discussed in their meetings today, we have little else to go on. Therefore we are discussing other things:
- Yesterday's Circuit Cup saw Spa thoroughly trounce Silverstone in the first round - I was expecting it to be much closer than it was. Singapore had almost double the votes of Sepang as well. Today's vote pitches some more top tracks against each other including Albert Park, and Barcelona.
- If you haven't quite got Monaco out of your system yet, the Beeb's Jake Humphrey has posted some photos and videos from his weekend there. My personal favourite is the idea of Jake working hard, whilst Eddie and David lounge about, perusing their scripts.
- We finally managed to catch up with Joe for this week's Aside with Joe show. I say 'we' but I am not featured in the show. You won't miss me though, because there is plenty of good stuff to listen out for. While we're at it, a quick plug for Joe's thoughts on Williams - because if we're not talking about it, someone has to!
That's all for now. Don't feel constrained by what I've mentioned above (and you can talk about Williams really). As normal, I'll see you in the comments.
is it thursday already? boo
Doesn't look like I missed much coming out of FOTA, nothing coming out of them at the end of the day?
Indeedy, one day closer to the exam that may have no point :(
ah yes, me also
Before the drinks hot me, one of my friends who listens to American radio (country music is better that way apparently) played me a clip of a guy with a massive southern drawl phoning in to request johnny cash's 'cry, cry cry' in response to Ferrari's withdrawal threat in F1. I was first shocked at the fact a guy from that part of the world was watching F1, and secondly how well the lyrics fit the situation last week. I'll try and get the clip off him and put it on the drop, but here is the song.

My Grand Prix 2 thing, which driver should I be? I was thinking Brundle (yeah, not the tub) in the McLaren. And with regards to the other teams strengths, I think random would be best, instead of everyone being the same or at 94 levels. Would it?
Could someone explain to me what can FOTA do to Williams? What does this suspension entail? A supension from FOTA seems as useless as a UN resolution.
It simply means they won't be invited to FOTA meetings and their people will be excluded from having input in the various working groups. THe whole suspensin thing as far as I can see is aimed at Max to let him know that FOTA hasn't crumbled because one member has signed up for the championship.
I think it is probably best to discuss this when a lot of people are around to get more ideas.
I think it's another calculated step, Williams 'agreeing' to a suspension because they had no choice but to sign up and FOTA can appear united again
Once the 2010 regs are settled Williams be be back on board
Evening peeps
Morning BC
I know it's late but it's not dawn already is it? ;)
[checks watch - phew!]
What's the latest?
I watched football with some lovely ladies and made all the wrong sort of friends...
Sounds ok to me so far
Their kids?
Come again?
Who were the wrong sort of friends?
Having read the last few comments, I'm guessing, the one's buying the drinks
Well Yes.... Perhaps i should see if fake DC could give me some tips
Does anyone else watch american talk shows?
Its Jays last week :(
Only Jon Stewart now and again, never liked Leno
He was the first one i watched, seems strange that he's going...
Just seen some of Jays Garage...
If anyone owns too many cars its this guy.
I don't think anyone else on the planet has as many as him, they cold do an entire series of top gear at his house
I think there's a Jay Leno protype in Gran Turismo 4 too :)
*prototype*
He was a manufacturer in the game...
He must get annoyed playing games, he owns all the cars for real anyway!
If I had the money and cars he had, I don't think I'd be playing driving simulators. I'd be hiring Silverstone with my mates :D
Im just hoping that now his show is finished he will be a star in a reasonably priced car, he must have so many amazing stories, and he is good mates with clarkson
Who knew Bassano was such a gentleman?
Is that Twitter related?
Might be. Might be related to a personal injury suffered by a web celeb
Well offering to make it better wouldn't exactly have been original would it?
Despite what the devil on my shoulder was whispering
I am sure she received offers of help from people closer to home
And about a hundred+ virtual ones
The only way you can help her now is to invent time travel
:D
Hey all, what's up
Hi Joe
Quiet night
Yup, at work, nothing going on.
Meant here
But maybe it's global :D
true. Let me pose a question then. Since it may be a while before I see F1 in North America, which races have you been to and which would recommend I go to?
I've been messing with Football Manager Editor for 2 hours now. Time flies.
I've not been to any yet but am really close to making ther leap
For it'd be Spa or Suzuka
*For me*
I haven't been to any, hoping to go to Abu Dhabi In the Autumn, or maybe Spa, if i can convince some of my friends to go with me
I got it. I know some people who live not far from Spa. I'm thinking Monza might be cool
My brother might get stationed in Bahrain and if so, I have a place to stay. I think they'd be light on the beer gardens though
I'd imagine the atmosphere would be electric
Maybe at the track but these 'dry states' aren't that dry really
Trust me, Drinking in the gulf is more hardcore than anywhere i have been in Europe!
Or depressing with the way Ferrari is going
Be half empty by race end if Kimi crashes and Massa retires
Really? At an F1 race I can spend lots of time with beer
At one point I was thinking the easiest might be the British GP, but I'm a little lost on all the controversy regarding Donnington
Not sure youd get it in the standard seats, but In the hotel bars, you drink until the only words you know are the name of your hotel to to tell the taxi driver
I'd love to go this year, but none of my friends are prepared to pay for general admission
This is the last year for Silverstone and lord only knows if Donnington will be ready for next year and if so, what happens then
Sounds very similar to night in Montreal. Started off with seeing Fernando Alonso in a resturant and from there it gets hazy
Anywhere you'd recommend in Montreal for a lively crowd
I'm out there for a weekend in July
*waits for something dramatic to happen*
Cresent Street. It's where all the street parties are/were for the F1 weekend. Also look up a band called This Side Up (there is a promo on youtube for them). Jaques Villenueve has a bistro on Cresent. Also if you like gambling, the casino on Ille Notre Dame is very nice
Ta
Hey, I work for the Fire Dept, every once in a while something dramatic happens.

Looks pretty good
Sorry for taking bandwidth with a basic tech question and sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but...
Can anyone tell me why my RSS Reader (Newsgator) doesn't pick up 'Daily'?
The technical expert is not around just now. Can I suggest that you e-mail him at [email protected] and when he wakes up he will answer you. All I can tell you is that I haven't heard anyone else mention any problems which isn't a lot of help to you.
Steven - thanks, I will do just that!
Makes Mr C sound like a doctor of sorts. :D
Your call is important to us...
I heard somewhere that it's called "New House"?
Would make sense seeing as that's his surname in English
Morning all. Just dropping in before I shoot to work.
http://www.f1minute.com/2009/05/27/monaco-wipeout/
Has RG seen this picture yet?
Hello all, I like that my absence this morning confused people.
It can be explained by the fact I have taken to leaving my phone at home so I stop racking up enormous mobile data charges by sidepodcasting at work. I am trying to learn to go 8 hours without you all. It's hard.
...and will be attended to as soon as Mr C becomes available. Thank you. :D
I thought his name meant "New Town"?
Oooh, that is expensive. Can't you check on us from the Net?
Morning all.
Morning!
Hi Christine. What's up? :)
I am not having a good day. People keep laughing at my hair.
Aww suck. What happened?
I have my hair in pigtails like Heidi. It wasn't a good idea.
Then the people at your work are horrible. I'm sure you look fine!
You had it like that the other day on the show didn't you? I thought the change had been made?
Ah yes, that never ends well.
I was practicing then. Normally I just wear it down.
I don't care what they think, but I would just rather people didn't comment on my appearance. They also keep a sharp watch on the colours I wear, because apparently I wear a lot of black. It's always a big deal if I come to work in a green top. Shock, horror, etc.
Wow - I didn't realise that you worked for Fashion Watch Central :(
It is an interesting concept, for us males, the idea of practicing something with your hair. We don't get to have such versatile locks.
That doesn't sound very nice :(
It happens here too. Because EVERYONE pretty much dresses the same.
Fourstar and I don't wear ties though. This seems to cause a problem.
Still though, I got it when I changed my appearance too. It sucks!
It can't be that bad - pigtailed hair is cute! :D
Not a big fan of color, then? ;) But seriously, why do people comment about it, anyway? We usually don't comment about those kinds of things - unless everyone wears the same color by accident - which is very cool or embarrassing, depending on who does it. :D
But you are the boss!
Hehehe. I wear a lot of black because black goes with everything and then I don't have to bother thinking about colour co-ordination. :)
all corporate and such?
That's why we get away with it :)
Suited and Booted.
Although I don't think anyone actually wears boots.
Here's another thing for Mr C to do :)
http://www.firebox.com/features/inventor
Have you tried other earthy colors, like, say, brown? Blue also matches with most colors. :)
He is?! Well, if he is, no one can really say anything. :D
I do that too and when questioned I tell people I'm being patriotic :D
No Puss in your office, then. :D Very business-like where you are, then. ;)
Oooh, we've got a list!
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Inventions
Chessy and lame. :P Hahaha!
The edible hat thing is exactly the kind of thing they'd do knowing Firebox as I do.
I am of my department - not the whole firm.
Close enough. ;)
Joe Saward mentioned this article in his latest post:
A corrupt, bankrupt charade . . . can Formula One be rescued?
Very divisive article, but what do you think of it?
Christine/me, could you please fix the link to Jake Humphrey's photos? It keeps taking me to the track Character Cup and I've already voted...
Unreadable. The typical "What's the point of F1" journo who just writes about how rubbish the sport is and then goes back to writing some crap about Football.
We got that a lot in NZ and you get sick of it very quickly...
Done, thanks Alia.
To be sure, it's rather exaggerated. But somewhere in that piece, he actually makes a pretty good point. Too bad it has to be buried underneath all the tosh...
I’d love to go this year, but none of my friends are prepared to pay for general admission {Comment #56}
I didn't even know there was any general admission still available - the site claimed Silverstone had sold out when I bought my tickets, otherwise I'd have had general admission.
Morning.
Anyone fancy meeting up in Trafalgar Square on June 26th at 6:30pm?
Thats very specific :P
Bring a pillow. ;)
Now im worried
Hehe
I'm confused. :D
Done, thanks Alia. {Comment #112}
Thank you - I can see exactly why you mentioned the pictures because they are an amusingly different angle on the weekend :)
Me also
Just received this in my inbox. :D
Location: Trafalgar Square north side of the fountain (on the National Gallery Entrance side)
Date: Friday 26 June, 2009 when Big Ben strikes 6:30pm
RULES
1) Tell everyone you know about PILLOW FIGHT (bring a pillow) !!!
2) Wait for the Big Ben to strike 6:30pm precisely and then start!
3) Dont hit anyone without a pillow (unless they want it kinky lol)
4) Dont hit anyone with a camera
5) Someone yells Stop!, goes limp, taps out, their fight is over
6) SOFT pillows to be used ONLY
7) HAVE FUN!!!
(Rain plan: put your pillow in a plastic bag, see Rules 1 7)
Morning guys
ahhh I saw the giant pillow fight they had in Melbourne. It was hilarious.
haha, amazing
Are they chasing a record for the world's biggest pillow fight or something?
The powers of the G-word: Remember that Brawn/Google story from a few days back? It's everywhere now... :O Even Phil of RealBrawnGP has mentioned it.
Anyone fancy meeting up in Trafalgar Square on June 26th at 6:30pm? {Comment #115}
Is there something specific going on at that time?
Keeeep reading
Possibly a new T-mobile advert...
Oh, and apparently, Brawn have another new front wing ready for Turkey. I'm amazed they can keep up this pace of development - especially when one considers that there will be a whole raft of changes coming in for Germany.
T-Mobile? Have they done this before?
wow, another one? Fair enough!
They tend to do things with big numbers of people....last one they did was thousands of people singing hey jude and other songs. SO amazing
Is there a video of that? :D Sounds awesome...
Dancing in Liverpool Street - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ3d3KigPQM
Trafalgar Square sing along - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orukqxeWmM0
Morning everyone!
aw that doesn't sound very nice at all. As if Thursday's weren't bad enough. Sounds like you could do with looking at something cute and fluffy :)
All this talk of Brawn flying budget airlines has me browsing easyjet prices.
I'm so jealous of you Europeans.
awwww! how cute!
http://www.racer.com/2009/05/q-a-with-ross-brawn/
So Ross says. :D
Awww. I heart Lou :)
really? do you have a link? i think their updates to their front wing mainly consist of slowly making it more and more complex.
the fluffy one is soooooo cute!
see my earlier post. it seems they're using it to help cure their understeer on fast-speed corners.
OK, London to Helsinki is cheaper than I can fly Melbourne to Sydney.
I'm so moving.
:D
well it is panda Thursday ;)
Move to Finland with us.
*Looks around her 12 m2 room slightly worried*
the song is eerily dead-on...
you can get there for £34.99. It will cost me $1900 (£920).
So I might be late.
:D
It will give Kathi time to build an extension.
Excellent. Or as they say in Finland, "Joku varasti passini" ;)
Okay, we definitely need you there.
I'm a little bit addicted to this game...
http://armorgames.com/play/3614/crush-the-castle
That actually means "someone stole my passport"
Not the most helpful phrase.
Imo the best thing to do with these rumours it just wait and see if anything comes to light... tbh the rumours that branson was going to buy Honda were everywhere too and they didn't turn out to be true. It could always be possible that Larry Page was at the monaco gp because he wanted to go, not for some sponsorship reason ;)
Oh. Well... still, come along anyway. :)
ooh, expert. that's one up on numbers man.
working on a low bandwidth mobile comment reader for you amy. don't give up hope yet. replying is the issue, but may release it in a couple of days, minus that bit of functionality.
you need to comment from there. we must select drinks from jacques menu bassano. it has to happen.
Numbers expert?
i'll take that.
I suppose that's better than "Code Monkey"? :)
Code Monkey sounds like a euphemism to me...
What a surprise.
:D

For Christine ... although it's a little gross on describing the method of making Baby Pandas...
I have dropiod a cute picture of a puppy that visited the camera bag section of the JB Hi Fi store I am in at the moment. Australians that have visited one of these chain stores will know all about the non corporate "uniforms" the staff wear and how it fits into the current conversation. Does anyone know of a similar UK store?
PS. I work with some of the coolest, nicest, fun people and I mean no offence to any of them if they read this. I wish I was that cool! www.jbhifi.com.au
I like how on autosport they're reporting that Brawn are set to over jenson a new 3 year deal to stop him moving and to stop teams picking him up for a stupid amount of money, yet I'd easily class him as the most loyal driver on the grid to his team no matter the money involved. Just makes me smile I suppose :)
I don't understand how pandas can still be endangered when there are so many baby ones.
Also, fom that Jenson article I mention, Nick Fry says
I'd love to see Flav squirm with us normal people on Easyjet :D
ummm. what about the...
williams/bar/bar/williams/courtroom/bar/williams/courtroom/williams/bar
period of his career?
True but I was meaning more since he's joined up with honda and took a huge pay cut to stay when he could've easily moved for a confirmed drive
hmm, i wouldn't class him as the most loyal. like 'me' says, the williams thing really screwed him over at the time, and i don't think him staying at brawn would be loyal, more it being the easiest decision he's ever made in his life
hmm. my guess is he saw the numbers coming out of the windtunnel and decide they were better than anything STR could offer. not sure that's really what i'd call loyalty.
the real test will be if ferrari come knocking. an alonso/button partnership would be rather mega.
ha. fair point :)
Wern't the STR seats confirmed before Brawn surfaced, though?
if flav is to be believed (bare with me) that could've happened this year. Although in an average car of course.
I think Buemi's was, but not sure about Bourdais
my recollection is hazy, but bourdais' confirmation came very late. so many there was one seat free?
They were the last team to confirm their drivers as far as I remember? Not sure
true enough.
i think once he knew Brawn would take part in some way that wasnt a hard decision either
he could have given up on the team though, when it seemed they were only capable of producing rotten cars. I think he has been pretty loyal in the sense that in interviews he has always said that his desire was to help be apart of honda and help to make them be a winning team. Funnily enough he said that last year in monaco i believe. However what he said to the press back then and what he actually said to the team behind closed doors or whatever could be very different.
I believe both STR seats were confirmed before Brawn GP were announced, cause i remember getting very worried that Jenson really wouldn't have anywhere else to go. Then suddenly like a month later Brawn GP were announced.
I guess there's only a couple of people who know the real story
there was a time, after the legal arguments, when no other team boss wanted him.
people said he was untrustworthy and didn't respect his contracts (and often worse). if he'd have given up on bar/honda, it's very possible he would've had to give up on f1 in the process.
i had a lot of respect for jenson's driving, but i wouldn't trust him as far as i could throw him.
I can see Jenson signing another three year contract with Brawn GP tbh, Ross Brawn is there (obviously) and at the moment it seems like the sensible place to stay. If they aren't able to produce a good car next year for some reason and if Ferrari come knocking then, it may be easier for him to leave them though.
Actually i'm not sure they will want Jenson, aren't the main rumours that they will want Alonso and Vettel at some point..
we know he has previous, when it comes to contract wrangles. i guess the question is do we think he learnt anything from those two very public battles?
button's driving better than vettel at the moment, but vettel's younger. tough call i guess.
If he doesn't and they keep on winning, i'm going to laugh ALOT
It dosent seem like a hard decision tbh
Probably. I'd do a crap job in a crap car for £4 mill a year, tbh.
i swear he said in an interview that after the 2007 season he was offered a contract with someone... i can't for the life of me remember who it was though... but he decided to stay with honda. although i can bet that was probably due to the fact honda were offering him more money than the other team were...
fair enough lol
Vettel would be more mouldable. If they're getting the experience in Alonso, then they could train Seb up how they like him. But do Ferrari really do young drivers?
brawn has proven his worth time and again. i think ferrari have the muscle to out develop him though, and next year the rules are likely to remain stable (fota battles pending). if that's the case, i'd rather be at ferrari.
they've managed to train up massa pretty well considering how he used to drive...
I think it all depends on the budgets for next year and rules. If theres a budget cap i'd want to be at Brawn but if not then i'd rather be at Ferrari
I remember when massa was at Sauber, hehehehe. Ah dear.
He really has evolved over the years ability wise.
in that case if i were jenson, i'd delay contract talks.
Ah man he was awful wasn't he.
Hey everyone
morning rg
Moorrrning
from what we know he seems pretty good at that. Take last year for example. In Australia Nick Fry basically said to Ted that they were finalising contracts... then it turned out at the end of the year that Button had only just signed another contract with the team. I should have thought the same thing will happen this year too.
heya R.G, having a good day?
it's a fact....older people shouldn't say..
"big up!"
Depends, being asleep till half 11. Yeah, alright day ;)
Is there an age limit cut off?
nope, but i'm listening to someone who i reckon is late 50's/60's who just meant "big up to the marshalls!" hehe
do younger people say it? not sure i've ever heard anyone at my school say 'big up!' ...
*went
*thinks of Tim Westwood*
*cries*
Perhaps no one should say it?
it's one of those stereotypical sayings that young people are meantt to have said but actually dont
i would agree with that :D
ooh right! i'm wish you now, can you tell i've only had 2 hours sleep? :P
yep me too.
how comes you had such little sleep? :(
haha, if you meant "with you" then yes i can tell that ;)
hot room, feeling ill...plus thinking of exams.. i'll be alright this evening though :)
oh god... i'm going to curl up on the sofa and watch a dvd i think.. speak to you all later ;)
haha, i think thats a good idea lol
speak to you later, hope you feel better soon! :)
See ya in a bit lou. Enjoy the movie ;)
word
ite

:P
Drop da Bomb!
Poppycock!
That is all!
It's easy to be loyal to a team when they're winning isn't it?
the easiest
That's because they kept saying to him "Felipe Baby, stay cool! We're in a good position!"
Sorry, too easy that one! :)
My brother text me recently and said I was evil as he would have that song in his head all week.
He doesn't even like F1, god knows how he found it.
haha, you're famous!
Famous and evil, it would seem.
Hardly... ever thought of Britan's got Talent?
Its a combination that works.
oooh, thats an idea ;)
I think Christine's smart enough to know not to stoop down to that level ;)
Ozzie Osbourne?
I try and avoid such thoughts!
I'd rig a phone vote for that
When is the Buemi song coming out...? ;D
i would leave her.
I would leave myself.
:D
:)
aww, it isn't that b... no, wait it is that bad. There is no justifiable reasoning.
D'oh, I just got this email from one of the 4 lecturers who have attempted to teach us 15 weeks of operating systems but only managed 4 or 5:
"Your exam is tomorrow morning remember, 9:30.
revise up on operating systems and their components"
Yeah... we guessed that
the concept is okay, i object to the judges. surely a prerequisite for judging a talent content must be to have some kind of discernible talent?
Just to say, the exam is for the module 'Operating Systems', hence why the email seems very obvious :P
piers morgan has a talent for being such an annoying fool, to be fair
Hey! David Hasselhoff urinates talent!
i guess that woman has a talent for looking amazed even though she's read the script.
:D
Oh look, James Allen is talking about Jenson's contract:
http://allenonf1.wordpress.com/2009/05/28/why-button-would-stay-with-brawn/
So Jenson may have taken a pay cut and been compensated by Honda? Hmm...
He must have been reading SPC earlier and thought 'ooh a subject to write about'
*waves to james allen*
or should that be a hand gesture?
hand gestures speak volumes
These aren't just any contract negotiations, these are Formula 1 negotiations!
*coughs* Botox
Is it a media thing to only give the home url of your site? The Beeb always say /radio1 or whatever, even if it's a specific show. James Allen always seems to link to the homepage.
and I get a trojan alert if I try to load it so I always go straight to his wordpress via my feed reader.
this is the more interesting line:
"There are not too many obvious alternatives, although someone like Timo Glock might fit the bill quite well. However he is known to be on Mercedes hit list for the McLaren team as a possible replacement for Kovalainen."
wasn't aware of that one, but i could see it working well.
The tennis is upsetting me. Boo Roger. Boooooo.
maybe we should do the same. not forgetting to write it SIDEPODCAST too.
It's like saying, join us live commenting on Sidepodcast.com BUT you have to find your own way there. It's an intelligence test, dontchaknow?
Sidepodcast: Intellectual F1 Conversations since 2006 ;)
Hmm... Two problems:
(1) He's German, not Finnish, and
(2) He might actually be able to beat Lewis
Having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing it as he's wasting his talents in the Corolla at the back of the grid...
1) good point
2) no chance. the team will make sure he's heavier in every qually session.
I only see one problem there. Just the first one.
Might keep Mercedes as a engine supplier?
But (3) I won't like him anymore.
Another SPC topic.
Thought you would. Someone on another forum has the Avatar "If you want to win, then hire a Finn!"
*waves to will buxton*
this is fun.
You know I reckon the journos must be listening in. The coincidences and crossovers are too many in number now...
Ah, forgot that one. But on raw talent he could, right? Didn't they race together in GP2?
this statement is true. It does not include rubbish half-Finns however.
Why, are you a Toyota fanboy? Figures, they're the Spurs of F1! ;)
Goldilocks is German anyway.
Who here wants to pierce their own eardrums when he talks? My God, that man is a bore!
I am edging towards them.
Yes. Hamilton won, Timo 4th
i didn't know joe gave will b. his first proper break too?
"Buxton began his career as a journalist while still at University. He cut his teeth covering the University of Leeds (UK) Formula Student team, and whilst writing his Political Studies Thesis on "The Politics of Formula 1" began writing monthly feature articles for Joe Saward at www.grandprix.com."
Yes, but a bore in 4 languages. PR dream!
And related to the Emma Buxton of which you spoke earlier?
Actually both Williams drivers sound horrible. Kazuki sounds like he chews gravel - not surprising, considering how many times he spins off!
married i believe. she used to be emma bearpark when at super aguri (and when we met her at dreamfields... in... '07?).
That's quite a surname! Kinda cool though...
Ah, ok. I obviously didn't ask her surname, cos you'd remember a great name like that!
On the Brawn subject, have we read Alex's thoughts on Sofa F1?
http://www.sofaf1.com/2009/05/boring-brawn.html
OK, which one of you scheduled the mens French Open final for the same time as the Turkish Grand Prix? I blame Steven Roy.
Yeah, good post it was. Have commented too!
Oh really? Apologies. I don't see any comments.
That's coz I just did it - sorry for misleading! :D
Yeah, doesn't show any comments for me either!
Me!!
Also awful in German too?
Has anyone seen this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8071741.stm
The reason why I link is because I think Magna are the same people that tried to buy Super Aguri last year, but Nick Fry wouldn't sell to them for lack of resources. Yet they have enough to buy Opel!
Magna ring bells in my head...but only being it's similar to "Magners" cider ;)
Terrible. He can't go two seconds without the German equivalent of 'you know'. Arrrrgh!!!
If Heikki Kovalainen and Roger Federer somehow had a child, it would be the ultimate mix of genes to toy with my emotions and make me chew off all of my fingernails in stress related sports watching.
*Pauses for a second* Mmmmm.... Magners Cider!
Isn't Nadal hotter than Federer?
Are Opel and Vauxhall essentially seperate companies?
If Heikki Kovaliainen and Roger Federer somehow had a child, the world would end.
Perhaps he's the German Danica? He does have hair like a girl!
physically?
No. Hence the BBC angst!
No, Thermodynamically! ;)
Heh. It seems I have a knack of supporting sportsmen who are not expected to win anything anymore.
Should I be Brundle for my Grand Prix 2 season? Was thinking of him really.
And it's probably best to have the opposition teams performance at random, rather than 94 levels or all the same?
Wish I hadn't lost GP3.Or even better, I wish my pc could run GP4 even semi-decently.
get rFactor :)
Obvious 'be Rubens in Jordan' call. ;)
How about Jos Verstappen in the bennetton, gotta love Jos.
He seems to have someone who does the technical things for him. Maybe he doesn't know direct links exist.
Obviously he can't if GP4 doesn't work!!!
Oh dear... I didn't know they still made Commodore 32's :p
ahh Roger lives to fight another day. Now I can sleep. Night all!
g'night
Ooh, BURN!
It sucks having a computer with 256 MB RAM and a ATI Rage 128 graphics card.
night
256MB ram?! I think my cooler has that ! :D
I just have to tell you all my favourite Hindhaugh quote, heard at Le Mans last year;
"...and theres a change in the GT1 class, I expected that to happen, sorry for interupting myself, appology accepted..."
:D
Well, a set of rules have been agreed between FOTA it would seem.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/75662
FOTA is pushing for a "glidepath" approach to adopting the budget cap regulations, with a two-step reduction in expenditure in 2010 and 2011.
This would see expenditure limited to €100 million in 2010, dropping to €45 for the following season.
Now it's just a matter of presenting it to the FIA and a compromise between the two I assume.
That sounds like what Mosley was hinting at in Monaco, so they might be agreeable.
Tbh I think we'll have the same thing happen next year, FOTA disagreeing, etc.
This reminds me, I know the medals/points system isn't in effect next season but what did the FIA rule changes state when they published them, that they had been pushed back to 2011 or that they had been suspended from being used?
It was one or the other but it has fallen out of my mind which...
Beauuuutiful day here today, lovely temperature, cool and calm outside
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/dsc00672-jpg
Also, bit o'spam on drop.io.
Grr, I wish they'd fix that. Thanks Lukeh.
grr!
they said it was a mistake to publish them. not gonna happen.
Ahh, thought as much. Good stuff :)
that sounds much more sensible. and thankfully screws lightspeeds chance in the process.
By the way, does anyone have any other Twitters to follow? I have jake humphreys atm, but not much else
There's a list on the wiki with plenty of folk from here but only a few other F1 personel
http://wiki.sidepodcast.com/page/Sidepodcast+Community+on+Twitter

all of us lot
Cheers Lukeh & Jon
Morning all... Is it safe to get out of bed yet?
It's never safe to get out of bed... and what do you mean Morning? I'm still at work!
Isnt morning when you get up to face the world? Im sure its morning somewhere... like Alaska
"The Formula One Teams' Association (FOTA) has agreed to propose a system of technical partnerships for new teams to assist them in joining the grid in 2010, following a meeting between the team principals in London yesterday"
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/75662
OH. MY. GOD! I don't believe it....i think i may just.... LOOK what has just landed in my inbox!!
i may go for a lay down now...
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!! Congratulations :D
Well done Lou!!
You can join Mr C's cog club
Oh my god!!! Well done!! :D:D:D:D
YAY! Go you, awesome stuff, congratulations lou!
:D lol
My fault. They must have followed me here.
Sell that cog on eBay tbh... althought it IS his 2008 *cough, 22* cog... :D
i blame stev... stuart.
how.jealous?!?
can we see your design lou?
I think its on the Jenson website, i was mooching around earlier and saw 3 helmets and a "design a helmet" feature, didnt really read into it tho
of course. they sent it to me in the email i'll drop.io it.
I think may just put that signed cap on her shelf and stand there pointing at it gleefully all day... :P
We should blog it.
fanx you.
ooh, yes! guest post lou?
I actually thought you'd ask for a Fax there...
a what now?
;)
We have a fax machine at work which boasts a stunning 14.4 K/s. Brutal.
I can already imagine the cap and cog on a felt pillow on a alter surrounded by candles with a giant photo of Jenson overlooking the staged scene.
Evening all.
can you still get cartridges for that?
love it :)
hey dan.
Well done Lou, that's awesome!
Just got a tweet fromlolaracing:
lola will submit their F1 entry tomorrow morning
Cool!
serious? wow.
am revising atm.. if mum sees me writing anything other than notes or the occasional comment she may kill me....
i seem to be having problems with drop.io too..
understood. can you email to christine? will see what we can do.
assuming that's ok?
There's a few unconverted files but one of them has worked it seems
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/image-001-tiff
okay... well it finally posted but there are other strange files too...
i only pressed upload once :s
Do you think so? I mean, they're just filing a piece of paper aren't they?
Might just eb drop.io going crazy, I've ahd it ebfore when I've uploaded things
It's very good by the way, so colourful! :D
Wow, my typing appeared to go just as crazy there...
Try a JPG rather than a TIFF, just change the extension
it was a jpg.... :s
yeah, but i thought the arguments would've put them off. any guess as to what engine?
It was a wonderful day when my friends and I gave the old fax machine the "Office Space" treatment.
To get what I am talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfCYzJAgwrw
hehe. thanks lou.
Cosworth? Has to be doesn't it? They can always change it later anyways...
Comes up as a TIFF lou
I do like the helmet, patriotic and simple. Would like to see what won
i can try again?
it's fine lou, it's there. leave it with us, can sort in a second.
thank you :) am off to do some more boring history revision, back later.
Good luck
There was an article that I read somewhere else that suggested that quite oddly it might be closer this season if we had the medals system.
It is conceivable (but perhaps unlikely) right now that one of the teams could blast past Brawn and win a bunch of races. But even if this happens they can't now really win the season because all they will do is push Brawn into third and fourth. And that isn't enough of a points attrition rate. You're only gaining a few points per race. But under the medals system each race you win denies the other winner from winning. So it's a much larger swing.
I'm not supporting the medals system, far from it, but I hadn't quite recognised that it might well be closer under that system than under the points system.
sorted:
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/jenson-helmet-design-by-lou-jpg
CONGRATULATIONS, Lou! :D
Sweet. However, Brawn won't approve because there isn't enough highlighter yellow in it.
pretty cool!
:D I actually think Jenson will go back to the red, white, and blue, at least for the British GP only...
Does this mean the war is almost over, and we can get back to racing?
Im sure you mean "we can get back to watching Brawn dominate*
In the dry, of course.
rac-ing? what is this concept
Well, yes, to a certain extent. But I really think Red Bull will give them a fight in Turkey and Britain. Only to fade away again in Germany, but that's not until July.
Even so, less politics, more racing = very good.
Flabbergash - first time I've seen your name! New here? Welcome! :D
a contest among motor-driven vehicles to see which vehicle can first complete a given distance. :D
Congrats Lou! Amazing!
Yes Journeyer - new here! I follow the podcasts (but not the live shows :< ) thans for the welcome
Isn't that a city in Wisconsin?
Ooooh... I think there's a live show this weekend. :) Are you in the UK? If you are, you should have no problems catching it. :D
So for 2010 so far, we have the 10 current teams (with Toyota and Renault being there in some form...), plus USF1 and Lola. I wonder who the 13th team will be...
UK - Sunderland! i'll try and catch the live show...
Prodrive? :P
Hmmm... DR is waiting for the last minute, and he said he's looking at the political situation. Assuming it does get settled by tomorrow (and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be), he may indeed be our 13th team...
Sidepodcast Racers?
I tell ya, the rate of this, the next one will be Newcastle.
Welcome mate.
Id love it to be penske, but i dont think they could get anywhere near affording it
Nah, newcastle got relegated to F3, Sunderland are the only ones in F1 these days...
Anyway, off home (via picking the wife up :X) ttfn!
Haha. Good description there :)
they could afford it, but they'd probably have to end their IndyCar program to pull it off. and find a new title sponsor - Marlboro won't sponsor them in F1.
later flabbergash. :D
See ya sir.
Can't sleep.
re: the latest @thefifthdriver tweet,
I don't see this video as a great ad for Hilton themselves, more a great ad for 'hotel rooms you will never be able to afford'
I'm also a little disturbed by Lewis talking about "private time" just after he has raved about how much he loves his bathtub. Ahem.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RW7YypRc4kQ
Hehehe. I don't know if they were trying to be funny with that one. :P
Unnamed laughter powered aircraft at the idea he keeps his racesuit in his hotel room.
Also feels like 'The Father' is standing behind the camera man the whole time
Oh yeah. Let's get Newman-Hass in too and we can relieve all of the CART battles from my childhood.
the Godfather? :D
We'll, IndyCar is going under. Why not? However I think they would also have to give up their NASCAR and LeMans programs as well.
:)
how comes rookie buemi has a better crib than the world champion?
Cos Buemi iz da bad boy and spends on bling.
Hamilton conserves his money and probalby saves it in banks.
We need Mr. Potato head to do an episode of cribs. I can already imagine this scene.
"What, we are out of champagne? We were five gallons away from filling my pool... Noooooo...."
For fans of The Apprentice who want a good laugh from brilliant editing...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yxi6QDwQyLU
:D
It is a tad rude... But very very funny.
I think his manager might take a generous cut of 98% or so of his paycheck
ok I see what you mean about the rude... sorry if it offends anyone!
but it is hilariously edited though. :)
I have made a best of here and there along the way, but I have no idea how you would even BEGIN to make something like that!!
Step 1: Have too much time on your hands
Check
He says on his blog that it took months!
Step 2: Watch all series of Apprentice atleast twice
Impossible, unable to watch the prat in charge for more than 3 seconds without throwing stuff at the tv...
American Apprentice is very good though
Agreeed
That wasn't too bad - I know it was sponsored but it was interesting to see what sort of places they stay at etc...
Used to be anyway...
Gotta be Penske. Money permitting, they are serious enough!
Haven't seen it for a few years
If only they had someone who was actually good at business presenting...
Oh, I forgot that Aida and Adelaide were in the 94 season, gonna have to re-learn them on GP2. I remember Adelaide and Aida were bonus tracks on F1 97. Can't recall Aida at all but Adelaide had colourful barriers.
I think they have the money and sponsors (Here is a link to their sponsors, many have been with Penske for more than a decade.) LINK: http://www.penskeracing.com/sponsors) if they want to go into Formula One, I think it is more of a question of will. Roger Penske was left with a bad taste in his mouth from his experience in the sport from the late 70's. He isn't a flashy guy, he just gets results and enjoys working with the team in the garage. I really doubt we will see them back in Formula One unless there is a dramatic change in the sport.
Besides if he wants to get into the sport, he could always buy out or support Ken Anderson. The two go way back.
your computer lesson for the day...
when removing a laptop battery for the purposes of cooling, always remember to ensure the power cord is plugged in. else said laptop may suddenly go quiet. very quiet.
mr. c... making mistakes so you don't have to.
Haha :D
So so so so many times i've done that, then get wondering if anything wrong with the battery, then look at the laptop and realise, slowly followed by a facepalm
Hasn't seemed to stop Allan Sugar from doing it here
That was a slight at Trump, not Sugar.
I personally don't rate Sugar, he is a reasonably good businessman*, but he seems to jump out of the way every time one of his business could start making crazy money.
*800 mill isn't to bad for average though
Evening all :) How are we?
Just tucking in to a makeshift dinner of a large baguette with chicken roll and a small bowl of cocktail sausages on the side. Yum. :P
evening scott, that sounds yummy :o
You know what? It is :D
Now I'm very hungry....
Actually... I think I will take a 11:00 AM lunch.
Hehehe.
I might just go to Subway now.
Pick me up something :P
Are you Danish? ;)
Williams has had an under the table deal definitely. They produce cars for the new F2 and are the first to enter F1 for 2010. I honestly can't blame them, but surely these new teams should be forced to develop F2 cars for a few years as they build up a stockpile of money before entering F1?
They're both Cogs.
Add to that the issue of standard KERS and I think we will see some kind of special deal come out for them...
I don't think Bernie cares about the future - he's worried about how it looks now. There are some checks I think about a company's assets and things because they don't want teams coming in and going broke and making the sport look worse. I agree with you but when few people want to enter, he's really not going to put two big dudes at the front door who say "not in those shoes"
If he'd checked out Simon Gillett properly he may not have given Donington the British GP...
Going home to find something. Just came to say a quick hello for 5 minutes. Boston update: I appear to have two options now, same city. need to decide a lot in the next few days. Maybe we can set up a vote on the SPC site...
yet Lola seems to be making a comeback. Check out the reason listed in this race. It's a great description of shambles..
That was the 'old' Lola though - new owners now!
yeah i now, but it's hard not to think back to a team i really don't think i ever knew much about - think 97 was a non-F1 year for me - too busy at uni.
I say farewell now. maybe I'll swing by tomorrow :) Ciao a tutti.
It depends on the section of the city. North and west of downtown... yeah. South and east of downtown... nahh.
Evening. Much happening? Will catch up on things a little later.
10 mins since last comment I'm so guessing not!
I complained about BT Vision on Twitter and 2 minutes later @BTCare answered. Now THAT'S service!
Revisiong operating systems whilst listening to The Wall live. Can't complain! :P
that's a FIRST!
Good job it isn't an English exam ;)
That's the good thing about computers; you just mash the keyboard until something happens.
Especially with Windows :P
My CompSci Teacher used to call that 'monkey programming'!
I spent the last two nights revising, followed by a non-stop day at college today which gave me a headache... I am relaxing tonight.
"All in all you're just a, another line in the code"?
"We Don't Need no Education" never seemed more approprioate... :P
Just pounding round Monza in the Lacetti and I have two different setups - one for qualifying and one for race.
Race setup - 2'00.7
Qualifying setup (single lap) - 1'59.1
:D
When did Sidepodcast turn into a Facebook status update wall?
"Dan is at work trying to build content onto a website because the guy who the website is intended is too busy to help out."
Become a Fan!
Too busy or can't be bothered?
goood evening everyone :)
evening lou
still recovering from the Jenson news? :P
It is for the non-profit affiliate of the place I work for. I am trying to create the site and write copy for it, but the guy who is ahead of the program keeps ducking out whenever I try to get approval or information from him. I am little annoyed.
it kinda made my day yeah... :)
More importantly, have you created a proper shrine for the cap and cog? I think you should get those gilded glass cases that they use to house relics of saints.
erm... i haven't actually thought about where i am going to put it... erm.... so no i haven't created a glass case for it, i've just been revising lol
Why the Lacetti? Can't you do RWD?
this gets my nomination of 'weirdest post seen on SPC when joining comments cold'...
Evening lou, you have inspired me to enter every f1 competition i could find...
So yesterday you sewed yourself to the table... today you win an awesome prize AND get your mad designer skills validated by your idol.
Not bad miss Lou, not bad at all!
:D hehe
Time I caught up I think.
Planning to do a bit of blog stuff later. While I'm doing this feel free to take bets on how much I actually do..
hehehe yeah today has been a better day than yesterday :D
Hey again.
Third ain't bad at all, most I've ever got from a competition is two tickets to see the Falcons.
Woo! :D
More than me :(
i don't know who the Falcons are.... i take it you don't mean the bird?....
I have an idea for a blog entry to write up but I'm entirely sure if I should... to be honest, I haven't got much confidence behind my writing at the moment to justify writing up for it all to make no sense.
2 paragraphs and you'll be back on Sidepodcast for the night
I shoulda explained, Newcastle Falcons, rugby union team.
Newcastle Falcons, Rugby.
You know me too well.
Write it anyway, save it as a preview, see how it looks.
Are they crap like the football team too?
oooh right. rugby team, i get it. That's a pretty cool prize. tbh other than the odd photography competition it's the most i've ever won.
Write it and show it to someone you trust will be honest with you.
They are average. Only problem is all the players are moving to France.
Ah Jonny used to play for them eh?
Any Kiwis?
If they want to play for the all blacks they have to be playing in New Zealand (with occasional exceptions) so most of the better ones stay there.
Do their players go to prision as well for animal cruelity? Sorry, token Atlanta Falcons / Michael Vick joke.
I'm aware of that. At the end of their careers they follow the cash to Europe though. Who's well known in your team?
Alright back to F1.
We talked about Penske earlier.
Who else should come into F1 that people wouldn't expect. I thin Panzo should make a run at the brave new low cost world of F1
Carl Hayman? He's the captain
Dallara, Eupsadoody Epilson, Panoz, ProDrive?
For some reason i cant get into domestic rugby union or English rugby league, leaving me to watch Australian Rugby league... which is quite strange..
Oooh. Peter Sauber to break off BMW relationship and start again as Sauber?
Just took a kerb too much on a fast right hander at Zandvoort and ended up going end over end into the gravel. Oops.
Dallara would be an interesting one, they'd no doubt build a solid car, if a littl slow at first, but not sure what the team would be like because they don't race cars, only build them
Maybe it might be easier to not live comment while driving :)
Hehehe.
I wonder IF EJ would be tempted to come back to a low cost version of the sport...
Hello Piquet! ;)
Or Stoddy *shudders*
As Minardi or not Minardi?
Don't do that in Washington state, unless you can pay for the $750 fine for texting while driving.
We need Minardi back. Heck, I think Bernie would pay his way in order to break up FOTA.
With Minardi DNA? ;)
"Officer, i wasn't texting, i was live commenting" ;)
He's pretty safe on that front, he's playing GRID ;)
"Oh you were on Sidepodcast... move along."
Talking of EJ....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wiNJNome6I&feature=PlayList&p=601374989636B028&index=16
This is all about Jordan, really good.
Erm...no I'm playing Race Pro.
Well you get a fine for being pedantic then! :P
Knowing our legislators, they would amend the law to include driving simulations.
I have a SidepodPrank idea. If I write and send off an offical looking press release stating that Sidepodcast is deciding whether to place a bid for the 2010 season, would GMM pick it up?
I was just correcting!
Midweek Motorsport made a bid hehe, do it
"Sources close to the team have indicated that they have the resources for the 2010 season stating that there is a mysterious 'Mr. C' who is spearheading the project."
Lou,
Have you seen this tweet from Stephen Fry?
Apologies to all those turned back from QI queue this evening. So entirely out of my hands. All health and effing safety etc. So sorry :(
Go for it
Make up some cool sounding formula series too
That is a very good doco on Jordan by the way.
yeah i have... no idea what that may mean for tomorrow... we'll go anyway and hope for the best...
if you search around you'll find the other parts of it
That did look good, what is it called?
go REALLY early
"An unknown backer, belived to be an unknown author who likes flowery cocktails, is set to finance the team."
Driving Ambission i believe
I've seen the other parts.
'Driving Ambition'
well doors open at 6:45, and we were planning to get there around then/ just before anyways. We are going up early afternoon to spend some time in London so we will try and be as early as possible i think....
Should've guessed from the Youtobe video title really... d'oh :P
I should say that I hadn't seen that part as it was missing!
we decided we could get as much publicity by saying we weren't going to sign up.
How so?
Probably best to go anyway. If you phone to check and they are trying to reduce numbers you are guaranteed to lose out. I guess it is important that you are not last in the queue
f3 teams keep getting onto autosports homepage by saying the rumours about them signing up to f1 are greatly exaggerated.
I like that. An individual with an interest in specialist premium drinks
For a second there I wondered when Nick Heidfeld had his hair in pigtails...
I'm not obsessed with F1.
I forgot about that
Well RubberGoat Racing decided to stand firm with FOTA and not enter into the championship.
Mr C did you see the comment about 3 am this morning from someone saying he was having problems with the daily feeds? I told him to e-mail you.
I haven't checked back through the comments yet.
yep well either way it's a nice trip to london :D
ooh, i did, but forgot to reply. shall do so now.
thanks you.
"After completing several scale models and took a close look at the current finance structure of F1, we at Sidepodcast has / have decided not to lodge an entry into the 2010 Championship."
*have
perfect :)
i like "has".
heh, thought you might
So is Sidepodcast a singular or a plural... and remember, Christine will read this later.
now there is a question.
The comment says WE at sidepodcast.
Suggests plural to me
agreed.
I hear they're writing another addition to the Hitchiker's Guide series of books. Perhaps this will be the ultimate question, far more important than "What is the answer to life, the universe and everything?" me thinks.
So the haves have it over the have nots who are also known as the has.
Douglas Adams is a bit dead to be writing a follow up to the previous 5
I know, someone else is doing it.
The only one who knows the question to the answer of Life, Universe and Everything now that Douglas is dead is Stephen Fry.
He's not telling though.
Noooooooooooooooo!
That is such an enormous mistake and I refuse to ever read it
Surely it is the same as any entity? If you are talking about the thing itself, it is a singular. If you are talking about the people that work there, then they are plural.
The question was in one of he later episodes of the book. The question, the ultimate question of life, the univers and everything is
What is 9 times 6? I am sure that was in the film too.
I'm 50/50 between not giving it a chance because it's not Adams but at the same time intruiged to see how the author handles it.
See here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7619828.stm
Thats the correct question to the incorrect answer...
It's round about here that it helps to get very drunk to follow it. :D
If that is true then who on earth is handling Douglas' estate?
Based on the article I just posted, I'm assuming his wife. She allowed them to write a 6th book at least, and chose Eoin Colfer.
His wife. :(
I finally worked out what fake F1 twitterer is missing and should be there to stir things up. We need a Fake JYS and maybe a fake Murray
for anyone who's in a competition mood. nick has one running:
http://www.nickheidfeld.com/?9201A0A1
even has spot the difference!!
You sure her name isn't Judas?
I wonder if there is an outline for a sixth book already written
I'm good at that.
Nurburgring here I come
If Montoya was still around, he would be great to do a fake Twitter of.
it's out in October so it's surely written by now.
Robert Ludlum apparently wrote a lot of manuscripts before he died. These were finished by other people and released as books...
There already is a fake Montoya though...
Dang... I hope it has the proper amount of moodiness, wasted talent, and ego.
:D
Have entered the Heidfeld competition ;)
There is a fake Montoya
good man.
Your not beating me your not.
We'll see ;)
best of luck to everyone who enters :) there isn't much point in me entering cause i'm at school that weekend :(
you could enter and give your tickets to someone?
or just throw a sicky.
Run a competition of your own!
Whas'appenin peeps!
being a prefect... and seeing as the service thing is for the end of school and prize giving, skipping it is not really an option :(
that is a good idea. not that i'd win anyways...
i air blasted the mac, but it didn't help :(
Sup Bassano ma man?
iAirblast? Is that a new app?
Glad to be out of work while there was still some blue in the sky
[started a little earlier today]
no, no. like a big can of air.
Boo!
SidepodAid is looking more and more likely then :)
Going to have to strip it and clean it properly and then replace all the thermal paste with new stuff as well.
bugger.
You knew it was gonna come to that anyway didn't you, deep down
ore - insure it new for old.
Wait a week or two then drop it down the stairs.
Oh course.. I don't recommend this method.
yeah. i had fun with the air though.
Aaaand I can't type again today.
Welcome to everyday for me! :D
I entered too. Just because
Right, some exciting news from the school of 'if you don't ask, you won't get!'
I've just had an email from the organisers of the 2CV 24 hour race at Snetterton in August to say that i will be on the pitlane reporting/commentary team. I'll be working with some real pro's and am SO excited!! :D
The females at college were talking about this last week, how women at work pick them up on the slightest thing..
The males found it most bizarre.
Wearing black.. I will be disappointed if I read on and nobody did a Tremayning joke..
But we know that your skill set lies in graphics ;)
They have to do that in Iraq apparently as the sand dust is so fine it rodgers up all the electronics...
Sweeeet! How did you get the gig?
Wow, nice one!
I asked :)
way hey! today just gets better and better.
Cheggers is back
Not too late, is it? ;)
hehehe
will you come back tell us how you got on?
(a bit of cilla to balance things out)
wow!!! awesome! congrats Jon!!! that's brilliant news!
No really, I'm interested! :P
How nice of Nick H to give me a passwort
isn't that stealing jon's thunder?
haha, sounds like its a bit full anyway, so im guessing not. maybe next year
he's a good chap in that sense.
What? Just asking.
Cool! You should listen to Radio Le Mans for some tips!
hehe its ok. probably not on this occation though ;)
There could be other opportunities at other race events.
should email them asking for tips during the race :)
Must remember for next year. Good luck Jon! :D
haha, funny you should say that....
I've listened back to 1000km Silverstone LMS and am currently about 22 hours through Silverstones own 24 hour Britcar race
Good point. *runs off to do some research*
good man :)
totally, there are so many club events all over hte country, just email them, the worst they can do is say no
*quickly comes back* Just before I do, did you just ask "can I be a pit reporter" or something?
hello cilla ;)
YES! Great idea - they'd love to read that out I'm sure!
in a very long and drawn out way...yes
And Jon, if you don't get a reference to sidepodcast in there... ;)
haahahaa
Would you mind sending me an e-mail? I might need some help... :) I'll DM you on Twitter.
haha, go for it
Cool. One sec.
Great pic of the shuttle being preapared to be lifted on to its 747 fot the piggy back journey to Florida
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/image_feature_1375.html
Hey Scott... Just a thought here... Jon's gone to a bit of effort to make this happen. Do you not think it would be an idea to approach things from your own perspective rather than using someone else's approach? You never know, you might discover other opportunities and learn a lot more that way...
I finally got around to changing my fantasy racers team.
I knew there was something I was supposed to do. OK there are at least two dozen things I am supposed to do but I will do that.
You have a point. I'm not saying I'm gonna use the exact same approach. I just want some advice and then I'll go about it my own way. :)
My team did so well last week, I may keep the same team.
Well I figured it was about time. And its only cos I listened to the podcast that I remembered.
I need to catch up on the debrief, the digest and the aSide sometime this week.
That reminds me of something... not sure if I've still got it.. think it is on a hard disk i temporarily disconnected..
Cowell has a talent - making money out of utter garbage.
my fantasy cycling team are doing much better.
The aSide just gets better and better, FWIW
i have a fantasy btcc team, but havent a clue how its going
You've been horribly misled. Try proper cider one day.
Do we think there'll be any more entries for 2010 by tomorrow?
Closing time looms
Someone was saying on twitter all teams are entering in the morning because of FOTA's talks today, no idea if true.
How can you be snobby about the drink of choice of a tramp?
I don't usually like Cider but Magners I do, though the Irish version (Bulmer's) is better
That your West Country side coming out Pat?
How true :D
Though that'd probably be Strongbow or Budgens Premium Cider :D
*sings and dances to the Bride and Prejudice soundtrack*
I follow the same principle in my fantasy cycling team as I do with my fantasy racers. Pick the ones I like. :D Scientific or what.
If thats true - FOTA officially will have been neutered and Max willl be able to get away with anything.
Of course! Nothing beats Taunton cider, nothing.
I tell a lie, the one I'm on right now is from Shepton Mallet.
Olde English. Green tins in your local supermarket, cheaper than the better known brands, and actually tastes of apples.
I had no idea there was fantasy cycling. Must be a pain when your team gets thrown out for drugs offences
Yeah they just have the rubbish. Same as with lager.
In saying that I'd take a Strongbow at a pinch.
Cycling... when's the Tour de France? I used to watch that on Eurosport many moons ago, and now I have ITV4 I can watch it again..
I know the Giro d'Italia was last week or the week before
They're mad on it here!
Not far off then. I think it is usually end of June.. I say 'watch', it's nice to have on in the background when doing other stuff.
I did my apprenticeship with a guy from Shepton Mallet. He joined BA at 16, did 3 year's training to pass the time and earn some cash until he was 21 so he could leave and become an HGV driver. What a waste
Something likely 2000 applicants for 60 positions and he effectively wasted his
Sadly its a continuing worry. Just when you think things have improved they go down the toilet again. :(
Isn't that jobseekers allowance from Rome?
Eejit.
The Giro is still on. It finishes on Friday. And the Tour starts on the 4th of July. ITV4 should have highlights from the Tour of Britain in September.
Thanks.
We had an Amstrad CPC464 when I was 10 or 12. We had the game 'Milk Race' - trying not to get run over by the support cars was fun! Finishing almost last and probably almost getting RSI from the controls, not so much..
Congrats Lou!!
I'm going to put SPC in my phone hehe, just in case i fancy some tremayning ad-hoc
Another cog in the fold!
Congrats Lou
My wife wants to know who are all the random people in the Skype directory on our phone!
aha :D
Do you guys realise the Spanish Grand Prix came down to just one lap. Just one!
hehe thanks everyone :)
Hi Flabbergash.
She's met a few of them
Which one? Certainly wasn't the last one..
Yeah this was before that though!
Well done Lou. I saw the pics on dropio. Just think. Jenson knows who you are
Is the SPC number 012128 87225?
Tell Massa that.
Is it weird that I had to check the last bit in my head saying
T.R.A.C.K.?
As if I was sending a text :D
ahaha... he'll have forgotten all about me by now, but it is pretty cool that he knows that someone called Louise sat there in front of her computer and created a little design for him... that he liked...
thats the bit i got hehehe
just think, that out of thousands of entries, yours was in the top 3 to him. To jenson himself!!
Amazing. :)
no... i did that too... haha
Lap 32 - Barrichello's inlap. If you combine his two middle stints it adds half a second to the average lap time!
you guys are trying to make me an even more hyper brawn fan aren't you? :P
Is Paris Hilton posting to drop.io now?
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/photo-80
Better go sleep. Night all!
No Lou, recurring sunrises do that ;)
Bye Gavin
G'night Mr Goat
hahahaha XD
Night Gavin.
Anyone watching Fast and the Furious on ITV1?
Night Gavin
Stopped watching ITV after the press conference in Brazil '08
I watch the football on it over SKY. Mainly cos I don't have to listen to Andy Gray. But apart from that and the BTCC, I easily forget it.
Bernie answers to me when it comes to schedulng races and so does whoever schedules tennis stuff
no but I do have a hankering now. Ah well Terminator Salvation next week.
So if anything goes wrong with the calendar, we know who to blame ;)
That means no R5L commentary again on the Red Button :(
Sometimes I worry about Amy
The panda's on the TV again telling me to buy Fox's biskwits.
The lengths I go to for F1 games. I'm trying to run GP2edit, an editor for GP2, but it won't run in DOSBox(says I it only works with Windows 3.1 or higher) or with the compatibility wizard., so I've just found Windows 3.1 for Virtual PC. But, the guide I'm using to run 3.1 on DOSBox looks quite complicated, so......I'll see how it goes.
I worry more about where the foetus will gestate
[Cue Life of Brian response]
Do it!
Maybe you should have a blog. Vote on what to do and then tell us about how the move goes.
He's not the boss of me.
But you want them all the same
Sudden urge to watch Malcolm in the Middle...
haha. Good idea.
I can't deny I'm tempted.
Fight it, watch West Wing or something to stimulte the cerebral
.
I don't know if I should be intrigued or scared.
We don't disagree with Amy too much, lest we all get assimilated
I am terrified. Federer isn't even Finnish. What is she thinking?
I'd love Lola or Dallara to enter but the problem for me is they specialise in building spec cars to a budget. I'm not sure they can do open tech. Maybe they suggested the cap..
She's being very Borg and thinking of the wider gene pool ;)
That if he coupled with Kimi it would just be very weird?
You know your life just got a little bit wierder when you're talking to FakeMansell about what he wanted to call his kids...
Um. Didn't happen. Oops.
Weird became the norm for me a long time ago :)
It's why I fit in so well here :D
Images I'd rather not endure, thank you
hahaha, niiiicee
:D
:D
I declare I was closest with 2 paragraphs :)
just a heads-up. media temple say the site may be down for 10mins around 6am.
As I said on Twitter - congrats :-)
Me either really but I just thought I'd put it out there and see what happened.
They organise messing up now?
:)
fanks :)
they can't do that, I may be dreaming about SPC
I'm still a little disturbed by the beginning of mini-paragraph 4!!
are the banners all spelt wrong for you as well?
Evening all. How's the world of SPC?
Weird, as usual
Hey Andy, can't put my finger on the mood.
Personally, I'm enjoying some Chilean Merlot so, good - I guess :D
Ah yes, that's it
:D
Have they cleared it with Journeyer and our Australian compatriots?
I blame you lot for being too interesting.
Hehe.
i'm guessing not.
Apparently not. What are we expected to do for those 10 minutes - work or something?!
What do we pay our...
Oh, hang on
If i get sent 1 more F2 Valencia preview im going to SCREAM!
I've been sent 3 already and MSV have just sent me another one!!
GRRRR
We could call it Tinkerbelle time?
Speaking of which, where's Jackie these days?
Starts this weekend doesn't it?
apparently so
That is hysterical Lukeh. Never seen Cassette boy before. I guess I am going to have to check out the rest of his stuff
Changing the subject slightly, knowing this will just cement my reputation a tad but posting anyway. An oldie but...
Suffer from shyness?
LOL
Sir Alan is a comedy genius but he always looks like he's wearing gloves connected with string that's just a little too short!
That is fab
hehehe :D
Steven, have you got the JYS documentary yet?
I am still intrigued why randoms want to follow me on Twitter
So glad they have to ask permission, otherwise it'd be like the school bus journey all over again. The town fuitloop sat next to me far too many times
[There were several]
i tried to pull it down a few times and kept running into problems with it. It would al download then not run. I haven't looked at it for about a week. I meant to tell you about the problem.
That is pure genius!
The lego versions are good too..
I get all sorts following me, and mine isn't set to ask permission.. I think they want to sell me things. Much like real life.
The David Attenborough one is class...
Partly why I don't open the floodgates to strangeville
Ah. Will have to figure something else out then. Perhaps the good old-fashioned postal service can help :)
Will certainly be looking for that, The App one is class!
Andy, what size is the video file?
We must be able to make technology work somehow.
SPC & Joe couldn't
Is it going via France?
719MB
Have you tried splitting into RARs and putting on rapidshare?
no. Was using another method...
If the large file size is being a problem (with BT or other) RS is not a bad option. If required I could host on personal drop.io for a short while
we did. it just took 4 days.
That's like a month in internet days :D
The Harry Potter ones...ha..I can hardly see!!
Those are definitely nsfw..
I wonder IF EJ would be tempted to come back to a low cost version of the sport… {Comment #517
He tried in 2008 but I think he may be slightly busy as a BBC pundit to be attempting to build up a team. Remember that like most of the new teams, he doesn't have an F1-spec factory yet...
Or Stoddy *shudders* {Comment #519}
No. He said that if Mosley didn't leave he would, so presumably Paul is out of the running until at least next year on the grounds of not getting on with the current administration...
Paul's airline just went bust the other day so he may not really be concentrating on F1 at the moment.
