We're heading to the halfway point of the week, and we now have our USF1 announcement, but nothing from Honda as yet. Let's see what else is happening in the F1 world:
- The BBC have released extensive details about their plans for UK coverage of F1 in 2009. It all sounds good, although perhaps not quite as thrilling as we'd hoped. However, we will see when it all kicks off next month.
- A1GP boss Tony Teixeira has popped his head up and said he's now considering starting a team from scratch. Every now and then he says he might be interested in buying into a team, but presumably all this talk of USF1 has spurred him on to create his own.
- In Sidepodfun news, Gavin has set up a Mario Kart Wii Tournament, and would like all those who are willing and able to sign up for some competitive gaming. Visit the wiki page to register your interest, and provide your Wii licence number, and get ready for the karting to commence.
That'll do for now, as ever, you don't have to stick to the things I've listed above. Feel free to discuss whatever's on your mind, there's no such thing as off-topic on the daily post. I'll see you in the comments.
Well how about that, first.
I'll start with a hilarious link which the main gist of is how I feel about USF1.
http://www.teamamericaf1.com/blog/
Pretty long but great. Have it bookmarked myself to read more later. I see USF1 as saying "We'll win because we're American, and we don't care what you think, because we're American". Stupid launch crap, the guys don't have a clue.
Great pic
It's slightly more tasteful that I was hoping. :D
ok, if you do a hard refresh on doohickey, some new things:
- right-click links are no longer annoying, but left-click still opens in a new window
- the error message is smaller to fit onto the g1
- and alex's request... if you're typing a comment, incoming conversation is queued until you're done.
It's wider.
& +
All seems to be in order. ;)
Ooooooo I like the pending count
to explain this a little more...
- if any comment box is open on the page, you're notified of new comments with a box in the top right hand corner
- if the refresh checkbox is unchecked, you are now notified of new comments with a box in the top right hand corner
- cancelling a comment or posting a comment loads the pending comments
- clicking the "pending" box, also refreshes the comments
pls yell if that doesn't make sense.
Good
Not something that worries me
Fabulous idea
very slightly. the error messages should now be central - they were a little offset before.
Well it definitely holds comments till you post.
All very good
Error message looks OK but I never noticed the prob before
Love the pending box.
nice one :)
I've missed posting a few comments in the past, so this will be a big help.
oooo i like
brilliant idea :D
I always hated that the comment I was typing disappeared off the bottom of the screen every time new posts came in.
it's always annoyed me a little, but i didn't realise anything could be done about it :D
well ya mighta said :)
Mr C is re-writing the interwebz... page by page
What Lou said
we're trying. more new stuff by the weekend ;)
It's jolly clever, kudos to Me.
Night all.
Something exciting?
night andy.
Night Andy
Actually, am off now myself
night Andy
could be. i have the upload button to do next i think though.
Night Bassano
night sir.
test
1, 2, 3
it's never really annouyed me enough to say anything. Plus your list was/is long enough without me pointing something out that didn't seem that important ;)
:D
night andy
makes sense. it couldn't have happened much sooner than all the recent changes anyhow, it's just good timing all around.
is your doohickey still behaving?
night :)
Just posted in the lclt with the doohickey box unchecked and the pending number worked but now that I have checked the box and the comments have arrived and I am replying to it I still have a pending box and the number is rising.
yep seems to be :D
Ok, any noobs reading this on the main site - that wasn't what it sounded like
[Really am off now]
Ignore that. It was just co-incidence that as I hit reply some new comments got queued.
ahh, got ya. i check.
sure?
No need
Yep. Total co-incidence
http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2007/07/30/telegraph-rates-f1-death-crash-top-video/
Just spotted that. Poor show guys.
That is from 2 years ago
Oops. Was looking for a pic of Bruno Senna I saw earlier with his visor slightly open and found that.......oops indeed.
It's late, and I have school tomorrow so I suppose I should go to sleep. Night all x
night lou.

sidepodspace update
Missed another rocket launch and it all went about as well as a Mediatemple sever. NASA's Orbiting Carbon Observatory which was to monitod carbon dioxide has been lost due to a suspected failure of the fairing that covers the satellite.
No doubt they will have a replacement ready for launch by 2015.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/oco/main/index.html
USF1 has stuff on it.
Wow, shame.
Steven, just wondering with your guest posts, how do you get the motivation to do those? Same can be asked to Me, Ollie and a lot of folks here really. Do you not think "I can't be bothered"? I ask because I'm more the latter, have a Mark Webber tribute I've wanted to do for ages, same for Jenson and others but having trouble to sit down and do it.
a blog??
Finally home. I am not going to even bother watching the USF1 launch again on my TV recorder. I am writing out my thoughts on it for the eagles blog. Basically, I was underwhelmed and now little bit nervous. I figure that they would have more stuff figured out by now; especially the financing. That what I get for getting my hopes up.
Steve, didn't you mention that there was a comet going over North America tonight?
By nature I am a counter-puncher so writing comments even very long detailed comments in answer to someone's original post I find very easy. Based on some of my more verbose comments I was asked to write some articles for another site and I really struggled.
Some of them came really easy and others I would take forever to get a line or two written. The piece on Gilles is definitely the best thing I have written and it was so easy. I literally did it as fast as I could type apart from the time I spent editing chunks out.
My biggest problem is finding something to write about that is original as I have no intention of writing something that has been done on 100 other sites.
I find once I get started I make good progress generally but sitting with a blank screen trying to start can be very difficult and more than once after an hour I have shut it down and given up on the story.
If you are struggling try and find a decent source of the factual info you want to use and once you have that you will probably find you start writing bits to join the facts together.
I think it is tonight. It is not on the NASA front page any more but if you can find Saturn in the sky it should be under that and it should look slightly green. It is only 38 million miles away so if the angles are right it should be visible.
Just caught up on the Honda news.
I just get angry with Honda's management every time I listen to them talk. How can a company receive offers but no serious offers. I've worked for businesses and state chambers all my life and I've never seen someone say, "Yeah, but that wasn't a serious offer." Especially at that level of a transaction.
I hope there is a special place in the afterlife for people like Honda's management. I've never seen a bunch of incompetent idiots. Sorry to Lou and others, but what happening just isn't right for everyone in Brackley.
I've never owned a Honda and based on their actions, I've decided I am never going to own one.
http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/swift/bursts/lulin.html
Looks like it was last night for the comet
nope, generally i'm a pretty motivated person. however, writing isn't an effective use of my time. christine can write in ten minutes something that would take me several hours. and even after i've written something, the girl has to check it for grammar.
i'll never write an article as good as steven's and i'll never hold a candle to ollie in that respect either. i'll keep trying though, simply because some ideas work better in text than in audio, video, or picture.
The one clear night I get in Seattle (very rare this time of year) and it is a night off. Oh well.
Thanks Steve
USF1 have a section where you can send them a message. One of the options for the message is job application.
There is all sorts of interesting stuff up there to see. On the left hand side of the page if you pick your country and follow the links it will tell you about ISS sighting opportunities and there are various other bits of hardware you can view.
http://www.spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/index.html
If F1 returns to Detroit, perhaps USF1 and other manufacturers (and sponsors) could apply for a small % of the Trouble Asset Relief Program? Yes, that is how ING could continue to support the sport, bring back Jaguar, etc.
In all seriousness.
I'm actually going to write about this on my blog. After reading most of the legislation on the Automotive bailout package (part of my day job) I think a U.S. automaker like Ford could get away with sponsoring the F1 team with government funds.
See if Ford claims that F1's KERS technology is apart of their green energy research, it's very possible that they would get re-reimbursed by the federal government as apart of the bailout.
This way:
- USF1 gets their domestic engine and sponsorship
- A domestic manufacture basically gets free advertising.
- The US taxpayers get to pay for some real estate on an F1 chassis and KERS research and technologies.
I love living in a country that has absolutely no sense in how to handle money.
Right. Laptop rebuilt and time for me to get some kipready for a day of fun and frolics in London.
TTFN
ONLY 39 MORE MINUTES TILL THE USF1 LAUNCH!!! ... oh wait.
http://www.usf1.com
After looking at all this, I have a conspiracy theory about the USF1. I go into on my blog.
This wasn't a team launch, it was an infomercial. They are looking for investors and sponsors and needed some positive press to start pressing people and companies on F1. I can guess that we are going to see the sponsor rumors...
I love being on the other side of the world. It is like I am having a conversation with myself.
Dan,
It's not talking to yourself, it's called micro-blogging :)
Link for the USF1:
USF1 decribed on the f1 site
I didn't even know they were launching officially this week - before the season starts - smart move. then if anyone gets bored in their job this year they can think about jumping ship. and they get their share of publicity throughout the entire year of F1 and they got launched in a period where they can get 100% of the media because there is still not too much to talk about.
Actually I take that back. Peter has put some interesting stuff up on the site.
Wow. That's a great idea!
I do love the concept of giving money to people who already lost it. It's like taking a sobered up alcoholic on a tour of the local vineyards.
Ah yes, the curse of the blank screen. I take myself off somewhere with a notebook and start doodling.
I may do a guest post myself at some point (invite permitting!). During research for the booky wook I stumbled upon a piece by DSJ that really calls to be dusted down and put on display because it is just as relevant now as it was when first written (1973). I'll do edited highlights. You'll love it.
Now I'm all for cut-backs in these tough times, but that USF1 website looks very mid-90s!
In that case, consider yourself invited :)
Agreed. Get a Mac! :-D
ooh! please do
They talked about F1 on Chris Moyles again this morning. He said he would like to buy the team for £75, and the sports lady said it was more likely going to be sold for billions.
Honda, that is. She seemed keen for the team to be saved, as well. Another Jenson fan, I gather :)
Does USF1 and GrandPrix.com have something in common?
The source code for the USF1 site contains:
GOOD spot!
my guess is the same developer wrote the site. because the header is identical in both. either that, or they've stolen from joe?
Or maybe Joe has an involvement with them?
The nameservers on both point to mksys.com - wonder if they actually share the same host as well?
Hey everyone. I'm having to use the computers in the library to write this because my laptop has gone on the blink and is being repaired as I speak. For those who it may concern, I managed to pick up Race Pro yesterday from GAME. To be honest, I was hoping it would be fantastic but to me, it's actually only quite good. There are areas which I feel could be improved on.
For one, there's no sense of speed. You look at the speedo and you're doing 100 but it just doing feel as though you are. There's no motion blur or vibrations or shaking of the camera. Plus, the damage system isn't too realistic mechanically and the cosmetic damage could be better. And every time you hit the barrier it sounds like you're stepping on a twig or squashing a bug. There's no loud crash which is rather disappointing. The handling of the cars feels rather stiff and on some of them, they have hardly any brakes at all. The Aston Martin DBRS9 is a perfect example. I can brake as hard as possible at speed and they hardly work at all. Another thing which has gotten to me is the fact that already the circuits and the racing is all feeling a bit repetitive in Career Mode and that the game never really moves along quickly. Oh sure, the races are short, between 2 and 4 laps at the moment but without that sense of speed it just feels a little sluggish, a chore even.
I have to say that I am starting to become a little disappointed with a game that I was looking forward to so much. Thankfully I didn't spend any money since I traded games in to get it. I haven't tried the multiplayer aspect of racing yet since I've been unable to connect to any of the games. But for now, my opinion of this game is that while it does have its good bits here and there, it could be improved on quite a bit.
looks like they do! likely to be:
http://www.xo.com/
based in new york, so at least the hosts are american :)
wow, im a bit surprised at that. What did you feel let down by? I felt it came across as very impressive personally but whether they'll live up to their words is another thing. I'm confident though :)
Thats a shame to hear :( I'd go into more detail but I'm stuck in a C++ lecture about to fall asleep. But I get what you mean with your complaints.
I don't feel let down by any of it, but I don't think there was anything we weren't already expecting.
Ahh fair enough. I think an actual bbc f1 site was the only surprising bit of info thinking about it, but it does all sound good. Bring on the final weekend of march!
we needed a "one more thing" :)
I can't take any credit for this, it was Maverick's find but I'm sure you'll enjoy the photograph nonetheless http://www.teamamericaf1.com/blog/?p=87
In a surprising burst of energy, I've done it. How to deliver? Word doc on drop.io?
Maybe Columbo wasn't available...
Thats it - I'm outa here!
See some of you chaps later.
Gosh, that was quick, thank you.
Either that or email [email protected]
Thank you Stuart! I was wracking my brain trying to remember where that was from (besides the obvious Steve Jobs reference of course). I had read about it just the other day and googling just bought up the Apple references.
My usual morning gig was quiet – writing this enabled me to put off the evil hour of trying to understand how PAYE works!
All received, thanks. Will publish shortly. Now you have no excuse :)
F1 Fanatic thinks F1 needs Oval races
Seriously? I always find oval races dull and dangerous. I only really watch the Indy 500 but there hasn't been a good one for years...
Steven, just wondering with your guest posts, how do you get the motivation to do those? Same can be asked to Me, Ollie and a lot of folks here really. Do you not think “I can’t be bothered”? I ask because I’m more the latter, have a Mark Webber tribute I’ve wanted to do for ages, same for Jenson and others but having trouble to sit down and do it. {Comment #54}
Try setting yourself a schedule, breaking the tributes down into pieces. Give yourself a little reward each time you complete a piece. Better still, tell people what your schedule is so that you get their encouragement to finish the parts/whole at the time you intend to do them.
Sometimes a self-imposed restriction, even a daft one such as "I will write this piece on Mark Webber and all the paragraphs will start with W" can help the creative juices to flow. You can always break the restriction when you've completed the first draft and go back to edit.
alia, if you're around and not busy. could i get you to try testing:
http://www.sidepodcast.com/realtime/
for us please? i know the page jumping around drove you nuts before, but hopefully we've fixed it now, and it might be a bit easier to use. no worries if you're still not fan, just curious if it helps at all?
Wotcha everyone... I haven't really caught up but I have read a lot... I'm not sure I am going to catch up though.
I am back though... Phew.
I had some friends to come and stay and they have two small children. Running around after them was a lot more time consuming than reading comments on here like normal!
But I did get a chance to introduce Lukas to Sidepodcast:
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/alex-introducing-lukas-to-sidepodcast-jpg
He is accessing Sidepodcast in one of my favourite ways: The doohicky on the iPhone :)
alia, if you’re around and not busy. could i get you to try testing: Comment #99}
Good news: The only stuff that moves is the stuff that should move.
Bad news: It won't accept my e-mail, which is frankly bizarre given that lclt and ye olde commenting understand it. As a result, I can't use it to comment, only to watch everyone else comment...
Hi all
Just been reading USF1 article the link posted in the first few comments. The usual propoganda etc from a new team blah blah blah but what on earth do they mean by this?
One of the most prominent pieces of information to come out of the interview was the revelation by Peter Windsor that “…F1 comes from the US to begin with…”. Europeans claim that they we’re the main organizers of the Formula 1 World Championship, but Mr. Windsor believes otherwise. Since it's accepted now that Formula 1 was from the USA, this makes it even more important that we have a team based on our country.
Since it's accepted now that Formula 1 was from the USA..........hang on where was it accepted?
Since it’s accepted now that Formula 1 was from the USA……….hang on where was it accepted? {Comment #102}
Oh no, not another of Peter's assumptions! Usually he puts "of course" nearby to make them easier to spot, but it's still frustrating when he takes a non-axiomatic statement as an axion.
Especially since Formula 1 was originally from France...
That blog blurs the lines between truth and satire so much that are we sure this comment was actually made? Either way, I definitely think "Since it’s accepted now that Formula 1 was from the USA" was made in jest.
Uh huh!!!
Seriously though how can he justify such a comment? Do they really believe that over there?
Quite. Don't diss PW!
I really hope it wasn't!!
Anything on Honda today? Dare I ask.........
all I've read today is the guy who put that article on RealHondaF1 saying he's standing by the article and saying the deal etc is all done.
Barbara Slater has been appointed the new head of BBC Sport, taking over from Roger Mosey. The press release says:
BBC Sport currently has a large sports rights portfolio including the rights to the World Cup up to and including 2014, the Olympic Games in 2012, Premier League highlights, the Football League and Carling Cup, Six Nations Rugby, Wimbledon and the Open Golf.
Ah-hem. And...?
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/73425
Honda getting ready to test
Lots to read between the lines there. Definitely good though :)
:D
Grrrr...they're already putting the golf and the cricket in front!! (We know F1 won't compete with football, rugby, Olympics)
Football League and Carling Cup on BBC. YAY!!! And Open golf, GOODBYE SKY SPORTS, WOO!
Aaaaand end of favourtism, though a hint of ice hockey would be nice with some live Super League matches.
I like it though, it is very simple but nice. Not to over the top compared to some teams, which is nice.
Of course Joe is pro-McLaren and Windsor mentioned McLaren two or three times yesterday. It all adds weight to my Steve Nichols, Paul di Resta conspiracy theory.
KERS lecture beckons, no doubt Mr C will be taking notes tonight
I assume this time it's not top secret
SidepodDrinks suggestions via Giggles afterwards, who will invariably be live commenting
Just as well Bush isn't president any longer or he would invade and take it back. Minde you Bernie and Max would end up in Guantanamo so it wouldn't be all bad.
I will be... I'm charging the iPhone as we speak / type.
We want elderflower, we want elderflower.
Apparently, Lewis guested...
http://allenonf1.wordpress.com/2009/02/25/lewis-hamilton-gets-the-tone-right/
Wow... its' still probably faster than Force India...
Actually based on the photos from Iraq a few years ago, Max might actually like that...
(Silence.)
(Cricket chirps.)
Let's move on.
You have no idea how I struggled not to make a comment like that but I figured it would not be long before someone did.
I am actually getting sick of the terrible Honda saga and USF1 (I'll keep it to my blog.)
There has to be some bad new floating out there. With Honda and USF1 dominating the headlines, it's a good time to bury something.
I'm revving up the elderflower engine as we speak!
Perhaps it is a Kinetic Eldeflower Recovery System I will be needing tomorrow morning!
So I need to be there by six... I better start thinking about leaving...
Bassano has arrived already!
The catering has apparently arrived.
You lucky chaps, I'm living off two biscuits and a half finished coke for the next two hours
You are lucky. All I have is two spoonfuls of hot gravel.
Now on my way.... ;)
I am on Finsbury Pavements waiting for a cab!
Gravel? Gravel?
I have to wake up before I go to bed just to be allowed to lick a rock!
Oooh quick I managed to find a cab now on London Wall!
In Holbourn already!
That, of course, will have jinxed it!
It has! Stuck now. Probably should have taken the tube!
There is, on drop.io now one of the most boring pictures of all time. The view from a cab while stuck in traffic.
I have arrived. Have met Flibster and Bassano!
Woohoo. A Sidepodgang :)
No sign of Me yet. Is he hiding or is he late?
Look for the waitor, if his initials are M and C, get suspicious
RBS to stop sponsoring Williams at the end of 2010: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7911039.stm
Is he late? Of course he is late. He is always late. It's what he does.
I guess it was just a matter of time. I wonder which industry the next wave of sponsors will come from.
Me has arrived! 22 minutes behind schedule!
He blames Steven Roy!
Bring back cigarette advertising!
Also, GP2 and the other support races won't be shown on the BBC. Great...
At least that gives them plenty of time to find a replacement.
Bet big on IT. It's where the money will be, I tell ya.
Funny how the era of sponsorship from the financial sector seems to be ending so quickly. Ciggies stuck around for the better part of 40 years. Financials won't be around for more than 5.
Wow… its’ still probably faster than Force India… {Comment #121}
Not with that massive grille assembly, it wouldn't be! And that's assuming it could get past the scrutineers...
The IT 'boom' was about 8/10 years ago? Even the goliath that is Microsoft are reporting a down-turn in profits at the moment. Doubt things will pick up or reach the dizzy heights they once did for ages, if ever again in that industry.
Eh? Why not?
Do ITV still not have the rights to those?
Financials won’t be around for more than 5. {Comment #149}
Probably because the cigarette companies didn't sabotage their own profitability directly (apart from making quite a lot of their customers' lives shorter) - they waited for the government to (slowly) get round to banning them. Then they fought really hard to prevent the sports sponsorship from being lost, whereas for the sinking financial companies it was one of the easiest things to jettison.
I thought GP2 comes with F1 coverage?
FOM have the TV rights.
Even the goliath that is Microsoft are reporting a down-turn in profits at the moment. {Comment #151}
You can blame Vista for that. Even in boom times, people are reluctant to swap functional stuff for rubbish.
There's a second IT boom coming from the likes of Google and the best of the Web 2.0 companies. Some of them might consider sponsorship, though it'll be a while before they're willing to pay F1 rates.
True, but then, IT will be strong in this recession era. Most other companies will look to cutting costs and outsourcing IT to companies like HP and IBM. Unless you see any other industries that will suddenly boom in this recession?
No scheduling space would seem to be logical, but then there is that red button.
The junk food industry is doing well, apparently.
What Christine said really. People look at their spending habits and cut back to the essentials, not the desirables. So necessities such as food and drink are going to remain steady.
Will any of these sponsor F1? Probably not. It works for Red Bull as it ties in with their 'extreme' image that they portray (and seems to work rather well as sales increased yet again in 2009).
Maurice Hamilton will still be part of the Five Live setup for anyone who was asking (Me?)
Good News! Thank you, Dank! :-)
McDonalds COULD sponsor USF1, but seeing as that they want to position themselves as a global brand, I find that unlikely.
I think Ollie's latest caption competition photo could be popular in sidepodcast towers.
http://blogf1.co.uk/2009/02/25/caption-contest-79/
Smedley!!!! Woo
I have just found out that it wasn't Steve Nichols who left McLaren to go to NASCAR it was Steve Hallam.
Who is Steve Hallam in the grand scheme of things?
This month's email from F1 Racing magazines asks: 'What question do you want to ask Nelsinho Piquet?'
What to ask eh?
Where did you get your license from?
Did you only get into the sport because of your dad?
Why the hell haven't you been chucked out yet?
How many do you think will say - did you crash on purpose?
Head of Race Operations
http://www.the-mia.com/Steve-Hallam-makes-the-switch-from-F1-to-NASCAR
Cheers ;-)
Would you please let Rubens take your seat if he needs it?
Oh gawd fathers.
BBC opted to spend their budget on an on-site studio at each race, rather than show GP2 etc.
And the likely contender to show GP2? Setanta.
NOES! :-(
If ye all will like to play in the quiz in about half n hour
http://www.pitlanefanatic.co.uk
and go to the chat section
We are finished and off for sidepoddrinks
had a good time?
Well you can always choose to take a 'quick look in the basement' for it if you don't want Setanta...
Good so far!
oh no!! what are the chances there will be an online stream though?,,,
:)
Are you now fully educated on the subject?
Yeah, drinks can wait. Even elderflower based ones. Tell all
"Martin Brundle and David Coulthard will be part of 5 Live F1's preview show on the Friday night of every race weekend!"
According to 5LiveF1 on Twitter
Justin.tv?
But what would be the point of a show on Sunday then? Leave us all in suspense
Why am I doing this?
Will have a go this week.
That has to be worth a listen
Drinks list up and running
What's Giggles been up to?
will rephraise it... what are the chances of getting a reliable stream for it? the buffering i experienced during the usf1 launch yesterday was awful. i couldn't watch a gp2 race like that. lol
sidepodcast.tv?
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/photo-12
There's your answer. ;)
you are brave. i'll watch as usual :)
can we get a sidepodreminder for it though? knowing me i'll forget. oo what do you think the chances are of them releasing it as a podcast...
Join in Lou. Even if you are nly in the chat and don't put in answers it can be fun.
It sometimes works for me, like last Sunday for the A1GP. I think it must be slower depending on how many people are watching, which would explain why the Daytona 500 was (even more) unwatchable.
lol i'm fine watching ;) plus i'm doing some work anyway :) will do the spot the difference though :P
So we learned a lot. Too complicated to explain now though!
What have you been up to???
No elderflower. Boo.
They went to the KERS lecture in London.
Now that your in the pub. ;)
you should all be on the show next week and help 'me' explain it :P
Surely it would be better to explain now, rather than after several pints of beer?
By Sunday they will have forgotten it all again and have to go to another one.
One thing was that it is important is he said that breaking is faster with the kers. So you want to be sure that you have used enough so that you can absorb the energy from breaking.
So there was a couple of bullet points
• KERS in F1 isn't green
• and won't mean more overtaking
And we won't tell you the third thing until you choose a drink.
DRINK!
Pint of lager
Bottle of Beck's for me please.
Boring!
Magners?
Dickens Cider? :-)
we want quiz questions!
Quick, I've got four finnish drivers, anyone know the other 3, and communicate in the way the others won't know ;)
Do they have that here?
RG!!!
hehe i have 5 :) and may well email jolly my answers if i don't think i've done too badly... :P
I didn't do it.
Shh.
Depends on what kind of pub it is ;-)
What 4 have you got?
Christine only has 3, so I ain't saying any aloud
Christine has to decide.
finish f1 drivers (don't say the answer christine doesn't like cheating :D )
Christine doesn't like cheating!
There is an authorized picture of Me on drop.io holding the Becks Steven Roy chose!
We have hair colour, shall update the Mr C Appreciation Society immediatly.
You have to allow for the dodgy lighting when you descibe it
My authorised picture had hair colour too. You're slipping.
It's a bit odd that Mr. C. goes so far to hide his identity online when so many people have seen him in person :-)
Is it though?
How do you know it's really him though?
I dunno... I guess it's weird to me cause I've never met him :-)
Has he got body doubles like Saddam Hussein did?
No, Saddam had darker hair.
Well he won't have the same body doubles will he?
I can confirm Mr C does not look like Saddam Hussein.
Thank God for that!
We're narrowing it down! ;)
I guess it's also a little bit of envy that I am over here in Denmark and I am unable to attend these cool gatherings and stuff...
I should start a DenmarkF1 team ... we could have Tom Kristensen and Jan Magnussen in the car too. Then you'll all have to come over here and visit!
I thought he looked like Saddam at the karting.
To gavin:
Bassano says "if you will shout him a the finest local beer he will meet up with you!"
You're on! I live within sight of the Albani Brewery so I'll be happy to shout one or two!
On that note, good night all!
Goodnight Gavin
Good night Gavin!
So How was the KERS lecture .. worth the trip?
Congratulations on a most unintelligent post.
Now that would be a team!
In line with the northwest separatist movement, I believe the Republic of Cascadia deserves its' own team F1. We could have Boeing, Starbucks, Amazon.com, Microsoft, Nike, and Real Networks as sponsors. Our car can have a mighty open mouth salmon on its’ nose. Either that or we can have a Geoduck, which in the Christine cuteness scale, is the anti-panda.
What IS that??
North-EastRacing. We could have Rob Smedley.
Erm, I think there is a BTCC racer from the north east as well, erm, ooh, greggs are from up here, maybe this is a bad business venture
Its' the most disgusting clam you can ever think of. They are huge, heavy and taste disgusting. I don't know why some people like to eat them or why some college that never left the 60's would have it as their mascot. I always get them when I go claming on the weekends.
It's the type of thing that only the stig would eat.
Clarkson would too, he'll eat anything.
According to the man in the know at the BBC: they (the Beeb) have the rights to GP2 and other support races, but they've decided not to show them to concentrate on F1. It's not economically viable for them.
I feel about as gutted as the time I found out the Red Bulletin got the chop and when they stopped making Trios :-(
Surely everyone knew The Who were performing in Aus.
Ciao everyone
No everyone did not.
Night RG
I could swear people were on about it on spc.com
Mmmm, Trio.
I heard something the other day about Jamiroquai doing a GP gig but I can't remember which race.
I think it was in the f1reject podcast, but I couldn't remember who it was
Yum. "I want a Trio and I want one now"

Well done to all
thanks for a great quiz, jolly
Q13 proved unlucky for everyone
I assumed Schumacher 2002 but you forget the performance advantage Mansell had that year.
Everyone assumed Schumacher :-)
Honda possibly testing : O
That's some good news.
I'm so confused about Honda's situation right now. I can't imagine how the people in the factory feel right now.
You can't imagine how me, Luke and Lou are feeling now either. Unless you're a big fan yourself.
We have let Me go now! Had a great evening!
Absolutely.
Really, who wants to buy a Honda after all this? I for one don't.
I just took a look at the quiz questions, I got most questions on the modern era right (say '99 onwards), but really miss out on questions that go further back in time.
Great results by you guys!
I don't have any ill feeling towards the company. I'm not thinking that they're evil baddies or anything like that. Not their fault about the bad car sales, even though they wouldn't have pulled out had F1 been a success for them.
Pulling out of F1 was the most sensible and responsible thing to do looking at the bigger picture. unfortunately they did it Honda style...

We all know that "sources" can be a load of bull sometimes, but personally I'm believing this one, for the most part anyway:
<i>The source likened the situation to "being in the final stages of buying a house" and said Brawn had told employees that "everything's positive - it's all going ahead".</i>
Finally smething new; a quote :P
Yep, really happy about that possible testing next week more than anything else. I'm off, in an optimistic mood, night guys.
nighty night
I actually took one for the first time on my own. 15. Is it sad that most of my knowlege of 90's F1 drivers comes from video games.
I understand their motives in wanting to sell the team. I am not angry about that. The thing is that they haven't helped themselves in the process. If so many people inquired about buying the team, why has it taken this long? Why haven't they done what Ford did when they wanted out and pick a person and give it to them for a dollar or something like that? Why do they keep on setting these unrealistic timelines only for it to fall through? If they are losing money hand over fist, why didn't they just close it or did a quick sale?
This thing is turning out like what happen with Super Aguri where everyone was on a knives edge with the team and then they killed it when they shoed all the potential investors away. That what upsets me now. It like déjà vu all over again.
Speak of the devil. Now that is good news!
Fingers crossed
Virgin Media viewers say yay!
National coverage hopes dashed though :(
Sideposposse?
Sidepodposse even....
Oh, and morning everyone. :D
