Panda Propaganda
"Because you can not have propaganda without a Panda hidden in it."
Editorial Page
Oh, darn, Saturday Night here in Tundraland, and I still have to write that Daily for Sidepodcast. "...Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit drinking caffeine..."
"You ?!, stop drinking caffeine, surely you can not be serious?"
"Yes, I am serious, and stop calling me Shirley!..."
Well, it is an old joke, said about 50 times in the movie Airplane! but if a sarcastic lass did say the second line instead of just laughing at the idea of me trying to cut back on my caffeine intake I would definitely fire that well used retort.
Good Easter Monday morning to everyone. There are a lucky few of you out there that are into the fourth day of a hopefully pleasant four-day long weekend. Many others just have had Good Friday off and to them I say that this Easter Monday that you spend at work is THE DAY that earns you the money to spend on our collective interest of Formula 1.
Current Events: (The Sidepodcast / Another F1 Podcast Flame War)

General Admission believes that the Another F1 Podcast offensive was A Bridge Too Far and now plans to unleash counter-offensive to move his "wine cabinet six inches closer to the heart of Another F1 podcast's territory."

Racing News:
Racing correspondent Alianora La Canta has been covering the Le Mans series tests at Spa. Here is what she has filed from her blog.
Dates to remember:
Series | Race | Date |
---|---|---|
Nascar | Richmond 400 | April 30th |
Indycar | San Paulo Indy 300 | May 1st |
Le Mans Series | 1000 km of Spa | May 5th - 7th. |
Formula 1 | Spanish Grand Prix | May 21st |
American Le Mans Series | Northeast Grand Prix | July 9th |
So with such little racing going on you might be forgiven for thinking that there is nothing to do but there is still lots of sports to cover, things to do, and needed work and upgrades to be completed. For example, a quick look at Mapquest showed me that my home is 618 kilometers or roughly 7 hours drive away from Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. That is roughly (give or take 20 km) the distance from London, England to Edinburgh, Scotland, so with all that space, something interesting has to be going on, right ?
Other Sports News:
In the NHL, there is the conference semi-finals. Maurice Marmot and I are proud fans of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team, so Viva Les Habs! We need the Canadiens to tie the series at three games a piece to force a final seventh game of the series, and if this was any other team than the Boston (B) Ruins, we would be worried for the Habs.
Out West, the Vancouver Canucks are winning their series against Wilman's Chicago Blackhawks. #SorryJordan :P
The baseball season is completing its first month of the season. Major League Baseball is split into two leagues - the older National League and the American League with normally the teams playing only their league rivals until the so-called "World Series" is played. Each League has three Divisions - East, Central and West. I tend to follow the what is called the American League East Division - Where I tend to support two teams - The Boston Red Sox and whoever is playing the New York Yankees. Quite a few years back, each League had only two Divisions, and the quality of certain teams was so bad that a team in particular became regarded as less than a joke., at least to be the "In Joke" of a Charlie Sheen movie called "Major League", the believe it or not used to be feared tribe of the Cleveland Indians. (JYS was not even born when the Indians last had a decent baseball team.)
But enough on Tundraland, what is going on in Sidepodcastland?
Financial Section:
The Christine (see top this page) has risen sharply against all major currencies as the plan to remove the Christine off the Gold Standard has been shelved.
Travel Section:
No Sidepodcastmeetups have been planned as yet.

Business Section:

First Officer Lou has been fully checked out and is now like myself, fully qualified to fly on Instruments at Sidepodcast Airways. (See photo right.)
Entertainment Section:
Yesterday Giggles attempted to celebrate his birthday in the traditional fashion. Unfortunately it was cancelled by the fire department as that many candles on a cake was considered to be a fire risk. Happy Birthday Giggles, and if Giggles Radio did not air it might be the end result of the fire risk of too many candles on the cake. Giggles does plan to have a "Giggles Radio - Super Soaraway Summertime Special" show today at 4pm BST (11 am, EDT).
You really have to hand it to Christine, operating four web sites, watch F1 races, produce non-video webcasts, and she still has time to look at movies. She has recently taken a look at Easy A for Film Watch's 129th Film. By way of comparison, I have forgotten most of the two films that I have seen since the start of this year but my priorities are sightly different. You can see them at my personal blog.
Sir Dan Brunell Doyle returns his two famous literary creations from his full-length novels The Sine of the DRS and the The Panda of the Blachfords with a collection of short stories in The Case-Book of John M. Watson. Join the world's only Detective Reporter with his friend and college, Dr. Steven Roy in such classic short stories as:
- The Adventure of the Bruce-McLaren Plans;
- The Adventure of the Second Lotus;
- The Adventure of the Solitary Driver;
- The Adventure of the Concorde Treaty;
- A Scandal in Woking;
- The Adventure of the Crooked Lollipop Man;
- The Adventure of Black Jack;
- The Adventure of Abbey Corner,
- The Adventure of the Jaguar Diamond;
- A Case of Identity (Who is Mr. C?);
- The Adventure of the Sidepodcast Ritual;
- The Adventure of the Missing USF1 Team.
So that is today's edition of Panda Propaganda, for more chuckles, take a look at the actual titles of the Sherlock Holmes case titles to see how little was actually changed. The only one that might throw people off is "The Jaguar Diamond". Once you see the title of the last short story, the connection to the "author" should be , well "Elementary". Sadly, I did not feel comfortable enough to come up with a Professor Moriarty character, as my target would have been Alianora.
Hey that's a pretty good formatting job you guys did! Too bad about the header, although.
You're worth your weight in gold Christine !

Wow, mega Daily
Good to have Canadian news
Just trying to be differnet. I am trying to keep people entertained with an E-newspaper here.
"Unfortunately it was cancelled by the fire department as that many candles on a cake was considered to be a fire risk. "
:D
I don't know whether to laugh or be insulted, being the same age :) ha
I love it
Perfect. The ability to casue a reader to at least chuckle at a joke that fell flat on its face as the reader thinks "Did he just write that? what nerve!", as the reader is proven correct.
Well, good night everyone left in the comments. There is a couple of things that I would like to do bright and early tomorrow so not to miss Giggles Radio.
Thanks to Christine, Mr. C, Alinora La Canta (twice), Lou, Giggles, John Waston, Steven Roy and Dan Brunell for being such sports.
Tis Anzac Day so I'm thinking of my grandad. Even though he wasn't in WWI and he hated Anzac Day :)

Great Daily! Fun concept!
Anzac Day. Remebering the fallen, thinking of the sacrifice, hoping for those still at war.
Back to normal happy stuff now :D
Standing looking at DPs Sherlock books... I see what you mean.
Now think of me please, for today the scout comes 'home from camp'.
Morning everyone :) Great daily Jordan!
Good luck!
Morning
My Turkish colleague who used to be a guard at ANZAC beach has left Denmark, so I can't go and shake his hand. Although after Berlin I think I have seen too much war stuff this weekend...
It's Felipe Massa's Birthday today!
for some reason John Bonham's son asked That Woman to pretend to be Robert Plant. Odd. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgtKrZGNlM8
Have you seen de reports about Ecclestone selling F1 to Rupert Murdoch?
www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/258274/ecclestone-i-ll-quit-if-murdoch-comes-in/
Murdoch wants british fans to pay to watch the races on TV.
Oh dear oh dear.
He wouldn't be allowed to unless he changes the concorde agreement, apparently.
Exactly, but the concorde agreement expires next year. So obviously this change would affect the 2013 season.
Morning all. time to get excited about E3 in June - Nintendo have confirmed we'll be seeing the next generation of console for the Wii.
Hi Lukeh! We'll keep one eye in that new console :)
Talking about games, did you notice Sony's online system brakedown?
Yeah, it's still down and has been for a few days now. It's all very embarrassing for Sony, it seems the network was completely thrown apart by hackers which is all very sad really.
That's what they are saying, but those hackers say they didn't attach Sonny's servers... Hackers think Sony had a problem with their servers, and they decided to switch them off and accuse Anonymous.
Morning peoples.
It;s a pretty embarrassing situation all round for all involved whatever has happened.
Morning Christine, how are you on this day of holidays related to a bank?
Good morning!
Quite tired! Taking days off is pretty hard work :)
But coming back to the routine is even harder. My holidays end tomorrow :(
Booo.
I think I should work in a bank. I quite fancy these banking holidays :)
But you, the british people, are not going to work this Friday due to a wedding. So our situations are quite the same...
a lot of places are still open mind, where I work is going to be open for example. Not me though :D
Hehe, that's even better :)
Nice Daily mr jordan, very different :) but good fun to read
There is no way they would have had them down so long.
the only reason i can think it would take so many days is if sony thought the hackers were close to user information like addresses and credit cards and are having to rebuild a large part of their system
Lovely Daily,
Lots of fun & defiantly not too long! :D
top marks for the daily, jordan. fab stuff.
Indeed, really funny!
So I uploaded my Berlin pics to Facebook earlier but here is the whole lot as a Flickr Collection: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rubbergoat/collections/72157626573413938/
I will be trying to make some Tilt shift pics from the TV Tower set soon ;)
that's conveniently up for renewal soon though...
Nice pics, I love Berlin!
I found more Crayola GP pictures too (sorry if it's been mentioned already..)
http://jalopnik.com/#!5793153/the-2011-chinese-grand-prix-in-crayola
I like these :)
to be honest i wouldnt be surprised if the british market was hardly even considered IF he was planning a bid.
Sky have FTV channels too, by the time the digital switchover is complete there will be no real difference between them and say ITV.
Afternoon folks
Why do Jalopnik links never go the the post but always the home page, I'm sure I've had this before?
Hello.
Same here but then you close the tab and reopen the link and sometimes it'll appear
I really don't believe that for a second unless ITV gets more evil
Have you seen Sky recently?
Goes to the post for me, but it might be to do with the UK haven gone back to the old blog format, post redesign
Ah yes, it has a uk prefix in the URL, ta
In terms of broadcast reach. I havent seen sky, but fox movies is the nearest thing we have here and its free :)
If News Corp owned F1 they would have to think about the best way to get a return and that might not be to put it on Sky Sports... or it might be to have it on both Sky and BBC/ITV and give Sky more access or something?
Cram packed ful of ads?
I can't watch Sky One, News or any of it's relatives. Absolute advertisers dream, but horrendous for the consumer
That doesn't make much sense unless you already have Sky TV. For those of us on Freeview we don't see any Sky FTA channels
In NZ Sky show the rugby live and then a FTA channel shows it an hour or two later - with ads though.
maybe Sky3, not sure, my Freeview is limited
It's still paid tv unless you count Sky 3 [highlights/re-run channel]
The UK is a small market, I have no idea why everyone thinks its so important in the deal. Compare it to, South and south east Asia rights, China, South America e.t.c.
Because the UK is one of the only countries where the man in the pub gives a damn about F1 - pretty much every where else it's not a mainstream sport
For some reason I found this funny, I thought they 'had people' for this :)
yfrog.com/gzaxpmbj
Ive always thought they could use it for live sport which was on a 'terrestial-only list' they have all the production facilities
http://yfrog.com/gzaxpmbj
heheh
He does, it must be his Mum :)
I have to head out to work, bye folks
I disagree, the average race gets what, 5 million viewers?
I think hes much more concerned with places he is already paying though the nose for it.- India, south east asia, Italy and Germany
hehehe that's a good one!

Murdoch is inherently after the dollars at every opportunity, he wouldn't make F1 free to air
[Not here]
I'm not talking about the number of viewers though. Of course there are bigger markets in terms of viewers but I mean that the way F1 is viewed in the UK, it's much higher up the list of top sports than in other countries.
A offtopic post: Catalan television's zaping programme goes to Justin Bieber's concert with a hidden-camera
Wow.... i just quoted myself in my own post.... I win the internet today...
ooh I like modern times, why buy a whole Korean guide book for $40 when I can buy the chaper I need in pdf format for $3.49 :D
:)
but football is pretty high up here, yet is mostly on sky. no?
all of NZs top sports are on pay tv there, I think because of that we have one of the highest rates of pay tv subscribers in the world.
Finnaly i can choose my seats at yas,
details of circuit changes. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90938
Nothing major so probably minimal effect, but i like the sound of a banked chicane exit and speeding up 13/14 will definatly be a good idea. the negative camber there was ridiculous
Yep, very true.
But then some of it is on free to air, like MOTD, the cup final and England games at home. Maybe that's where F1 would go if Murdoch bought it?
Cracking daily Jordan! :)
Thanks. It was pretty hard trying to keep up with current events like a newspaper does, updates from the past of Sidepodcast Airways Universe, (Panda Propoganda, First Officer Lou, and Airplane! related jokes) and introduce new ideas like a Sidepodland currency, stange talking animals, a Sidepodcast/F1 related Sherlock Holmes stories and toss in an advert for good measure.
I am left wondering how all of you can afford more than 2 Christines given the price of gold nowadays.... :P
At least they all have have a connection to either F1 racing or Sidepodcast or both.
Hmmm, have you checked out the "Travel Section" of Today's Panda Propoganda E-Paper ? Somone might consider a trip for themselves. I hear Montreal is quite nice in early June.... :)
Wow! That was quick! I only created the title to the F1 Sherlock Holmes story "The Adventure of the Concorde Treaty" just eight hours ago and it already seems to be published..... :P
The Indian Circuit will be known as the "Buddh international circuit"
http://f1adda.com/2011/04/indian-gp-unveils-logo-and-rename-circuit-as-buddh-international-circuit/
I'm not down on my Hindu-Buddhist linkages to know if that is to do with Buddah or not,
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddh_International_Circuit
I saw that, but wikipedia
Ok, further investigation...
there is a Gautam Buddh University http://articles.timesofindia.indiatimes.com/2011-04-17/kanpur/29444132_1_examination-centres-entrance-exam-examinees
Buddah is also known as Gautam Buddha, so i guess it is indeed a Buhddist track
Ask Vicky Chandhok on Twitter then?
As someone said the other day on Twitter, and I wish I'd thought of it..
will the short track be called Buddh Lite?
:D Turning the Daily into a newspaper was a really good idea, Jordan F1. Thank you for writing it.
You are doubly lucky that I decided to get rid of the Classified Section, then Nick, as someone has offered top dollar to push you off a balcony (again!)
Virigin is looking for someone to up more speed in their cars.
The Obit sub-section would be the demise of DRS at Monaco.....
And Christine has a posting for a "lost" Michilin man. Hmmm, I did not even knew she noticed him around after that Panda entered the scence....
I just things which are updated quickly after news breaks on wikipedia are perhaps not all that reliable as they havent usualy had time to be veriffied or corrected
:D
Given I live 31 floors up, i would hope not!
One of my Twitter friends in India confirms that's what it's named for (the university is named for a different transliteration of the same being). And yes, he thought it was an unusual name for a circuit...
Yes, because that's exactly what one wants at a Formula 1 track!
*Grin*
Maybe they thought the Chinese Grand Prix was too chaotic and hoped it would inspire a bit of calm...
In India the scales are slightly different!
Happy Anzac Day!
Should probably go for a walk and make the most of not working by having fresh air. And getting a takeaway Costa coffee and pastry.
;)
Because F1 is having a lot of difficulty leveraging potential markets and due to the huge loans it has, needs to maximise the markets it already has open. The UK, along with Germany, Italy and Brazil, put the largest amount of money into F1's pockets right now.
CVC holds the loans, Murdoch wouldnt face any of those challenges due to to his massive media resources
Ive always thought they could use it for live sport which was on a 'terrestial-only list' they have all the production facilities
At the moment, "terrestrial-only" lists in the UK can only be BBC 1/2, ITV, Channel 4 or Five. After switchover is completed I expect that to change, but even then it'll be only channels everyone with a low-quality Freeview box in the middle of nowhere can get, so I wouldn't expect the choice to expand much.
Sky isn't part of the Freeview/Freesat project as such, it just happens to have a channel there. For the moment.
Sadly, I did not feel comfortable enough to come up with a Professor Moriarty character, as my target would have been Alianora.
:D Turning the Daily into a newspaper was a really good idea, Jordan F1. Thank you for writing it.
Thanks. My idea came from the Strand Newspapers from 1891 to 1903, which contained the originial Sherlcok Holmes stories as a sort of fuller. Too bad I had to bin the idea of Professor Alinora Moriarty, but I could not come up with an alternaate title to "The Final Problem".
And although Moriarity is not really in the story "The Empty House" I would have penned "The Adventure of the Empty Headquaters", but that would have been way too mean on USF!.
And Moriarity is only referred to in "The Valley of Fear" which I guess would have easily been renamed "The Circuit of Fear", especially if the setting was the Nordschliefe......
Point taken. Nonetheless, it would take years for a pay platform to work - F1 lost a huge number of spectators when Finland swapped to Eurosport this year, for example - and the free-to-air platform isn't available everywhere (I only know one person in my neighbourhood who can get Sky 3, for example).
I have to make a little run to pick up supplues. I hope to be back for Giggles Radio.
It feels like a Sunday today.
I like the historical/literary tie-in.
Would "The Final Race Problem" have worked?
I keep thinking it's Tuesday because I had to go shopping...
Large parts of it are but many of the top matches are on terrestrial and some are protected by law.
Not me!
And once Giggles Radio rolls around at 4 you'll be really confused :)
It renamed that channel to avoid being associated with such drivel on it.
I made some Tilt Shift pics out of my Berlin Fernsehturm set: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rubbergoat/sets/72157626449616943/with/5653162509/
we're coming home early. so we can catch some giggles radio :)
(mr c)
Awww!
There is a little girl here cuddling a massive panda toy and crying cause she can't find any panda in the zoo. Awww
Awww!
They look great!
so cute!
Kinda makes you want to go and give a polar bear 2 black eyes!
That's sad :(
Thanks man :)
The problem you face with altering "The Adventure of the Final Prblem" is how do you get around around the face that Doyle was trying to kill of Holmes at that point. Any trick you put into play herer to keep Holmes alive just makes the final story "His Last Bow" sound stupid.
In another words, which is final "The Adventure of the Final Race" or "His Last Race"? :P
P.S. This is the sort of thing that got you pegged as my Moriarty in the first place.....
where are you?
It works if you substitute "bow" for a celebration typically seen by a winning driver... ...though "His Last Waved Finger" may be an exception as it looks plain wrong ;)
:D
lou: 25/04/2011 at 14:57:33There is a little girl here cuddling a massive panda toy and crying cause she can't find any panda in the zoo. Awww
Christ! My Sherlock Holmes stories are coming ture! Mr. C and Christine are heading home and a Panda has ecasped from the Zoo! It sounds the plot to my penned title "The Panda of the Blachfords " all that is need is that pea-soup fog for the Panda to sneak up to Christine...
Made it back! Giggles, if you are about, I am in a position to FBFB this evening's entertainment.
oooh exciting!

WTF WOW thats amazing!
I had no idea you could draw like that!
*totally blown away*
hehe that's a bit of a rough one because it was something quite challenging seeing as it's been 4 or 5 years since I properly got the chance to sketch but thank you! :)
its such fun just sitting down and getting back to doing stuff like that that I really enjoying doing. Thinking that blog will provide many hours of sketching fun for me but hopefully it'll still be good enough to share
wow
Also wanted to quickly say that I finally have a domain name and self hosting set up for my blog, more info here: http://toata.wordpress.com/2011/04/25/a-new-home-kind-of/
Phew, busy blog related evening!
wow and go lukeh!
But but but, I can't tell the difference between the sketch and the photo. Awesomeness.
Great sketch Lukeh
I am massively impressed.
Woah, what a drawing!
You're all far far too kind, I'm a little bit humbled as prentetious as that sounds but thank you :)
Am a little bit typing speechless, sorry
It's a very long time since I watched a TV program twice but for the second day in a row I am watching United on the iplayer. It is about the Manchester United team around the Munich air crash in 1958. For non-football fans the team was almost all really young players and were one of the best teams in Europe. They were flying back from a match when their plane crashed on take off and 8 of them died.
Also contains David Tennant.
It does last an hour and a half though.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b010tb6z/United/
Should be noted, probably more of a drama than a documentary. But was very good, impressed by the guy who played Bobby Charlton as well.
It was really good and very sad. Definitely more of a drama as RG says, not too sure they painted Sir Matt as the character I always assumed he was too
Great watch though.
Seemed to look more in place in a 1950s American detective show rather than a football manager I felt.
I noticed they changed a few facts like the date Duncan Edwards died
Yeah he had that moody New York police chief feel about it. Seemed out of place.
I thought it was pretty close to the real Busby. The voice and manner were really close.
What did you think was different?
I can see that
I dunno, I just always assumed he was a lighter character. Their portrayal was very moody and not very... football-y, I'm not complaining because I enjoyed it but it was just something that stood out I suppose. Definitely in agreement about the guy that played Bobby though, he was fantastic as was Mr Tennant
The really sad thing when you read up on it is that most if not all the players who moved to the back because it was safer died. Had they stayed where they were some of them would have survived.
The original flight from Belgrade to Munich was delayed an hour because one of the players lost his passport. Had that not happened thesnow would not have been such an issue.
Ifs and buts
Managers were very different then. They were remote. More like commanding officers. Most of them did not get involved in training at all although Busby did.
I don't ever remember Busby as being a ligher character.
Holy wowsers!
ones black and white. The other's color.
DUH!
(great sketch, Lukeh!)
Huh. Well that's the last time I attempt a compliment.
Similar to "We Are Marshall" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_Are_Marshall) but they lost a lot more.
Is mr C around at all?
*waves*
:)
*waves back*
Do you know anything about the akismet configuration and wordpress? I know that W word is a bit evil but all I keep getting when trying to set up Akismet on there is 'There was a problem connecting to the Akismet server. Please check your server configuration.', wondered if you ever had any problems like that...
do you have an akismet account? I htink you need one of those...
not at all nope. do you have your key already?
Yeah, of course. I have the key I need from them and everything but wordpress isn;t playing ball.
hmmm, ours is connecting just fine at the moment :(
Must. Resist. Buying. Boden. Dresses.
I don't have this problem, funnily enough...
you could try the alternate defensio: http://www.defensio.com/
not looked myself, but i think it's an akismet replacement.
we'd still accept you if you did :)
Ooh, cheers
:D
I already resisted today and had forgotton all about it but then I was watching 4od and there's adverts come up and everything.... :(
How dare the ads try and sell you something!
Weyyy, Defensio works with no issues. Plus it has a fun name. Deeefensioo!!
Does it have a MASSIVE shield as a logo?
First time for everything :D
It doesn't but it does have one of those arrow target boards from the arrow olympic games battles with the massive bows so that's good to know
w00t!
Ironically I was watching some programme about frugal living. This man won't live with his gf and child because he can't stand the money they waste, we're talking about things like tea bags, candles, a cushion on the sofa.... I don't understand why shelling out for rent/bills on 2 houses doesn't seem more wasteful. I guess people are illogical creatures.
Or he's using that as an excuse.
Mmm, two houses.
a genius!
oi!
He seemed pretty dedicated tbh. He melted down those bits that won't burn at the bottom of a candle to make combo candle so it wasn't wasted. He was selling egg boxes to farmers for a penny each....
I'll have one of them if he;s being fussy
:D
It's not all that.
It has it's plus points, I'm sure.
There is a famous couple that live in two houses, can't think who they are right now...
Helelenelama Bonham carter and Tim Burton?

I think it's marvellous.
I think she's brilliant, her quirkiness is infectious!
You would trust Mr C with his own kitchen?

Maybe some kind of granny flat arrangement. Christine could have the gas disconnected... :D
Could I live with a famous actress who is worth millions? Tough decision

In a world of plastic boring hollywood fakes I'll happily listen to her madness :)

http://twitter.com/#!/EmBuxton/statuses/62527369642119168
I think that is an over-reaction
Didn't that happen months ago? I remember someone linking tweets about babies or something?
wow, you are well behind the times sir.
It was discussed here at the time
In other news, I hear man has created the wheel

Not like him to put his foot in it.
So am I it seems.
Ironic that he didn't know.

Good find :D
I'm a little disappointed she wasn't super dedicated to a jar of Branstons but in the bigger picture maybe that's not so important

No worries, it's 12:45 and I have a big day of explaining to do tomorrow!
what did you break?
Thanks Christine - I completely missed that one. Pickle is the daughter I am sure though...
because he wasn't wearing a tracksuit?
Because he was shown as being remote from the players like the old style managers when he was one of the first to get involved with training and actually got to know his players
I see. Seems to be the case these days that after every docu-movie someone always comes out and says that they got it wrong...
not sure anyone's said that about SENNA, have they?
Seems a screening was done for friends and family of those involved after they finished making it and no objections were raised.
They have 90 minutes to tell the story of two seasons and about 30 or 40 people so it can never be accurate.
Having not seen it, I get the impression SENNA isn't a drama, which United was.
Ping: http://mrschristine.com/2011/04/25/ease-into-10k-a-shopping-interlude/
That is real footage though rather than actors and a script
That's footage rather than a drama though. Although if it is true about what they show, I am surprised Prost and the Balestre family have not complained.
I am listening to the Stereophonics ;)
while sorting a blog project which was accidentally neglected a while ago

We all know there is a big event coming up on Friday. No. Not the wedding. The penultimate launch of the space shuttle and the last one for Endeavour. The countdown starts tomorrow and everything is looking good so far.

Ooh what time? (page won't load)
Shame Indycar drivers can't get points
http://yfrog.com/h8vc9swj
That won't load either, maybe it's me
yfrog and twitpic always seem to cause problems. Sometimes they load and sometimes they don't
somebody sank that.
As the text says the water was deeper than Dario thought it was
Sorry it was my stupid router
Hey Steven,
how do you rate John Waston as a driver. I think he won only once right?
I saw the tweets the other day, he said it still fired once it had dried out!
He won more than that. I remember him winning for Penske in Austria and I remember him winning the 1980 or 81 race at Silverstone. I am sure he won in Detroit starting from 22nd. He and Lauda started something like 22nd and 23rd and ended 1-2. I think he must have won 5 or 6 races and he was definitely runner up in the championship once
Intersting. Thanks.
He was a decent driver and good enough to keep Lauda honest at Brabham then McLaren. He was a very good number two and an OK number one.
That was Long Beach.

That sounds like a loaded to the gills fuel strategy....
I have a feeling he did something similar at another US race. Maybe that was Detroit. I can't remember the details but it was not as spectacular as the Long Beach result.
FORIX says he won these:
1978 Austria (started 2nd)
1981 GB (5th)
1982 Belgium (10th), Detroit (17th), Long Beach (22nd)
http://www.forix.com/driver.php?l=0&r=1946050400&rst=1011&c=51
(needs an Autosport.com sub)
Detroit 82 he went from 17th to 1st
Long Beach 83 he went from 22nd to 1st
Detroit was considered to be impossible to pass on
Sorry yes, LB was '83 not '82
Okay, if Pironeii wins around three or four, this guy Watson wins three, I am pretty certain Prost won a couple, So how the hell does Rosberg win the Championship again in '82 ?????
Honestly, we need to come up with medals for the top three per race or something to stop this nonsense.... :P.
Nope. Straight racing, No pitstops. The kind of racing Mr C always tells me will result in the poleman winning
no i don't. i tell you that these days that will happen. the past is the past.
Look at 1958. 10 races if you ignore Indy with Moss winning 4 but Hawthorn took the title with one
the front 20 cars must have run out of gas then....
He won from 17th on a track that was impossible to pass on.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1983_United_States_Grand_Prix_West
He couldn't do it now if they banned pitstops.
Nice try Steven.... back in the days when they only took your top X scores into consideration. What you are telling me here is that Moss was either a hero or a zero and Hawthorn was getting points dispite being many laps down per race.
Webber nearly did it or is my memory failing?
yes he did. back then.
He had pit stops.
you missed all four of his stops??
Anyway there's no way I'm getting dragged into this one yet again, I'm going to watch The Event
i should correct myself though. with the ever-awesome-drs-wing(tm) you could repeat that feat these days.
;)
Here is a ping for those who missed it during Giggles Radio
http://toomuchracing.com/2011/04/25/tony-cotman-talk-about-the-2012-indycar/
booo. #f1debatesareace
not when you rehash the same stuff over and over and over
No new information since last time though.
true.
The thing about 1982 is that beacuse of death, injuries, politics and unreliability there were 11 different race winners and only Rosberg scored more than 40 points. 44 he managed. No-one won more than 2 races although there were 5 of those.
You expect me to remember every detail?
:(
I am surprised you have not commented on the ace panda video
Guys, I was looking into applying for Pirelli media accreditation so I can use some pics on my blog - I can only find a generic contact form. Does anyone have anything more specific?
Unless the sine of a DRS is illegal like say, on a Sauber, not that It would give me an idea to butcher a Sherlock Holmes Book Titile or anything like that....
I saw it. Was going to see if I could find it embeddable somewhere.
Do ITN do that?
that's all you need, they'll get back to you.
Thanks man,
;)
Not sure. I saw it over Mr C's shoulder and that's as far as I got.
You mean like youtube?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bo9bzmCkpo0
Easy
The youtube version plays better too
Ace.
Who else are good people worth applying to?
every team. although with pirelli you really don't need them.
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/post/tweets-of-the-week-happy-birthday-felipe-baby
Cool. Well I applied with Pirelli anyways.
Same here for my Chinese GP Strategy Analysis: http://f1numbers.wordpress.com/2011/04/25/a-great-piece-of-fine-china/
I have graphs, but unlike James Allen I never display more than three series ;)

a great f1 data animation, courtesy of tony: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnbCQuk7xos
This data mapping seems to be your latest obsession :)
i'm not doing anything. tony is creating lots of awesomeness from fia data though.
I know that, I just notice you like it... a lot :)
It's well done though
i love charts and stuff. always have done.
And I suppose animated charts are the new black
heheh, indeedy!
i am done in for the night though. catch y'all in the morning, good luck with cleanup, kitchens are evil.
Very true, night Mr C
In that case, you should really take a look at something called "Energy State" performance charts for variou aircraft, Mr. C, usually has speed on one axis, radius along another, G -Forces along another, separate plot lines for variou shieights, and another another set of plotlines for stall speed.
The constant is the aircraft being flown, and it is all on on set of paper.
