Hello everyone. I must first make a huge apology to Christine, Mr C and everyone at Sidepodcast, this daily is so late (maybe the latest in a very long time) and well, I can only hope that you’re all to excited for the Grand Prix to mind too much. I’m used to producing late daily posts for you all but this one is just a bit too late I feel. Anyway, lets get on with it otherwise the whole day will be gone!
Lets start with some F1 news, yesterday was of course qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix, did you miss it, or fancy a quick recap before the start of the race? Well Mrs Christine has a summary post for us all.
It’s nearly time for the Spanish Grand Prix (So sorry this post is late!), but this gives me a great opportunity to remind you all to turn over to the brilliantly made Sidepodcast Dashboard for fun and comments during the race. You’ll find everything you could possibily need, including the amazing FactByte FactBox. Which you can also find on its own page or on the home page.
Despite it being the Spanish Grand Prix today while I am of course excited, I seem more thrilled that it’s just 7 days until the Monaco Grand Prix, one of my favourite tracks (for all the classic reasons) and just a pure beautiful sight to see I think these next weeks are going to be so awesome for us fans. Yay!
We live commented the Indy 500 qualifying yesterday, want to catch up with the Pole day results?
Onto the arty section!
I’m not sure if this is what I have ever thought of when imagining parts of Spain, but I think I may need to go to these beautiful places before I die.
Not personally being a fan of Star Wars, never having seen them, I’m not sure I can appreciate them as much as I’m sure you can, but even I’ve spotted these are just a tiny bit cute.
Not sure I can actually believe this is an oil painting… but wow…
I think I have been missing these from my life for a while. Everyone wants a melted mirror, right?
What would you take with you if your house was on fire? I was originally going to answer this here in the daily, but I’m not sure I’d be able to give enough thought to it other that my immediate choices which would be my Mac, cameras and printed photos beside my bed. I think it’s better suited to a separate blog post, however why not have a think about it in the comments?
I shall leave you with a picture of a cute kitten, because, well we all love kittens right? Enjoy the race!

Hello mini daily :)
Hello and thank you, lou :)
All updated now, i'm so sorry for the lateness once again. Matters of the internet out of my control. I did stay up till 5 waiting for it to come back on, am not sitting in the library hoping that out of soe miracle the internet will be back for the race, or i'll be stuck with my phone and my flatmate's tv.
Those melted mirrors are awesome! Very surrealist. But whhhaaaatt at the oil painting...!!
People are too talented, they should share the talent around :)

Hello everyone! I am back from the Spanish GP.
I'll explain you how it was, but first, one question: Did Hamilton have problems with the DRS?
Thanks!
No obvious problems with DRS for anyone
VET was told to not use KERS for a few laps 2/3s into the race
The BBC has pulled the race replay from the iplayer again. I was in the middle of the pre-race show and it just stopped
I forgot there was a spacewalk today. Can't cope with all these events on the same day
Saw some classic race cars at Kongens Nytorv yesterday and took some pics with my phone: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rubbergoat/sets/72157626654796993/
The fake F1 Twitter account thing is getting comical. There is now a Fake David Tremayne account...
Button's KERS failed on lap 8 if the graphics were anything to go by, but Jenson didn't mention it post-race so I assume that was fixed relatively quickly.
What did they forget to include?
Nice cars. Can't figure out what the green one with the yellow stripe is
Wow! Hope you enjoyed it :)
They pulled the whole programme a few hours after the last race and seem to have done the same again. It was about midnight before it came back last time so I guess it will be the same again
That is strange. Almost like they keep coding the ending wrong and pulling it when someone notices a problem at the end of the recording.

Just saw the Carl Edwards celebration car wreck
hehe
Oopsy.
Did you see the in car camera? He closed his eyes.
Do you have a link?
No. Just saw it from outside
No. I was watching the Indy stream and it switched to Nascar
Okay, will look it up later
He was just tooling along, going to do his donuts on the grass and WHAM! he hit something embedded/hidden in the grass (a drain, they guessed) and wrecked the car.
His head lurched forward and he closed his eyes like "AH!"
It's funny.
It looked like a drain cover he kicked up. Normally on a track they would be welded down but I guess they didn't expect anyone to be driving there

Oh my word. Never buy real wood IKEA furniture!?! The table we have just built is a feat of engineering I swear...
Here's a home video recording of the tv show, so it's got their comments on the audio, but you can see it and hear some of the tv commentators in the background.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gyi3dbtV_b0&feature=related
Closes his eyes at 2:40 :)
You and Nick built it so it's not the Forth Bridge or a Boeing 777
Ouch. Great example of what the HANS does
Yes, thank goodness he was totally fine. He got out and did his usual backflip.
I saw that
Isn't it an MGB?
Is it? The Lotus colours threw me.
The radiator grill looks wrong for an MGB
Voicemail done
I'm taking the credit thanks :D
It was ridiculously complicated though...
Ping: http://www.f1minute.com/news/sebastian-vettel-takes-a-hard-fought-victory-in-the-spanish-grand-prix
It does. Could it be a midget?
Pics!
It's just a table
like this? http://www.mgvr.org/images/pr_archive/CassinghamMidgetVIR02.JPG
Is it too late to send a voicemail?
Maybe
I'll be honest, I had to snap and go. Didn't have time to check.
I didn't expect you to know what it was. I only asked on the off chance
Fair enough.
It is not too late.
Then you'll have one in less than 5 minutes. Just recorded one :)
Marvellous!

Ted's Pitlane Report
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13491525.stm
MORE talking to Christian Horner?
For the record hot air is not 'thicker' than cold
Cold air is denser as the pressure is reduce for the same volume
I thought that. That's why they have intercoolers on turbos?
We had to build the table because... http://t.co/ndXDcuU
Much better :) http://t.co/smICZsA
Yep. More weight of oxygen for the same volume so they can put more fuel in and get a bigger bang
Yup
If you want to be picky [and I am :)], it's mass not weight
Not safe
That's it?? I thought it was a dinner table with massive complications
It's weight to since it is subject to gravity
That's a trolley, not a table :D
too not to. Don't want to get picked up on that too
Truly terrifying exactly. Who would think you could leave a kettle there??? He said I was overreacting!
Fluids are measured in mass, volume, pressure and temperature
He's a H&S nightmare that boy ;)
I think you are stupidly brave to live with someone so reckless
So what did Ted mean by hot and cold exhaust then?
That's the sort of thing we see on our HSE videos. Really Nick?
Half trolley, half table! Main issue being there were no holes predrilled. You needed to use arnie strength to get all the screws in... We broke 2 screwdrivers
I didn't realise SI units were incorporated into the comenting policy
Cold is relative, cooler is what he was referring to I think
Regular exhaust that hasn't been reignited or ignited outside of the combustion chamber
I have just started watching him
You're a fan of the table? :D
The committee are meeting soon to discuss Andronovs
I'm a fan of not having a boiling hot kettle in a precariously high position!
Exactly! There's no free plug near a counter. I made him buy more counter...
I should add that the kettle was put back there for photographic effect, it was much safer where u had it with the cable safely stowed!
Usually they are self tapping screws that don't need pre-drilled holes
Maybe Dubai folk have a handyman doing the drilling for them so it's not an issue
which was where exactly?
The cable can only reach the plug when it hangs over the door!!
Down the side of the door :P
Which obviously means I'm complaining about nothing!
Cold blowing is normal off throttle exhaust
Hot blowing is when they are revving the engine and retarding the ignition to ignite the fuel.
The reason he is saying hot is thicker is because there is a lot more volume because the fuel and air have reacted
Scary.
Rosberg wanted Mercedes to tell Schumacher to move over and they refused.
So you open the door and get a couple of litres of boiling water on your head
Surprise?
I rarely use the kettle so it's never hot, and I have opened the fridge hundreds of times and never gotten wet!
And the guy who walked under a ladder and got hit did it 100 times before and it never happened.
Thats because the door is to the freezer! Handy in case of scalding I guess....
Wet isn't really the issue. We are not worried about anyone drowning
He just doesn't get it. He thinks we object because of the way I positioned the cable. I was trying to communicate that no, a kettle doesn't belong on an upright fridge!
Boiling liquid around head level is not good.
It's higher than that. I needed to reach about 40cm above my head to put it up there for the photo. Yes it was posed because strangely I took it down when I arrived...
It's health & safety gone mad I tell ye!
Skype appears to be working this week. Voicemails from all!
Think of it as saving an hour of staff time at A&E for other Darwin Candidates
And emails ;)
The world must be due to end if Microsoft have bought Skype and made it reliable in less than a week
His sister is flying in from aus in the morning. I'm surre she's better than me at giving him a hard time ;)
:)
Hehehe.
Oh yes.
Poor Nick
Starting to make sense now, he's living on the edge for escapism ;)
GP2 Race 2: Another big smash before the first corner
I think it was the kettle that was living on the edge.
Quite :D
I have been framed it was a good 5cm from the edge!
Ping: http://www.f1bigpicture.com/news/boy-with-the-golden-touch
Love that
The race is back up on the iplayer
I meant to say earlier but I forgot to post it, answering Lou's question in the daily there are a few things I would take - my phone, bedside photo of myself and lou, box of little memories and stuff off my shelf that i've collected over the years, and a towel.
You never know when you'll need a towel. Douglas Adams taught me that :)
A photo of yourself?
Towel day is this week. Wednesday I think
Not of me!
oh yes, good reminder.
