This daily post is slightly late as I was caught up watching the Red Bull Crashed Ice final. We also live commented it, along with the 12 Hours of Sebring. You know, we are an F1 site, honest. It's Sunday, and with no racing this weekend, it seems like a pretty quiet time in terms of F1 news. Nevertheless, here are some of the things we're talking about:
- Preview quotes for the Australian GP are starting to appear already, and the Hispania ones are very sweet. The team are simply aiming for one car to get to the finish, not even both. That is probably the least ambitious thing we have heard all year. It's completely fitting though, and I appreciate the team's honesty in terms of what they can achieve.
- Joe has what he calls A Mish-Mash of News including discussion of Natacha Gachnang, and how the FIA will get new teams into the sport for 2011.
- Ferrari allowed their three development drivers to have a go in the F2008 at Fiorano during a test session on Friday. Apparently there will be five such tests available for the young drivers and I think it's good to see Ferrari taking the approach of encouraging young talent, rather than hoping a driver who hasn't raced for ten years might be up to the job. Eh-hem.
That's all for now, I hope you're having a fabulous weekend, I know I am. As ever, I will see you in the comments.
Nobody in the daily yet huh? I guess now is as good a time as any to start it off.
Wooooo!
Is the Sebring over yet?
The Sebring is still racing...
Boooo :(
21 minutes more of the Sebring
Ill be playing catch-up again next week with the aus gp. I have a whole weekend race, so ill be busy sat and sun =(
Hopefully sometime this season I can live view with you folks.
How long has Drop.io been down for database maintenance?
is lukeh still around?
I got a 503 at 9ish when I got home
Nope. Went to bed
10 hours+
they're coming back bigger an better, or something: http://twitter.com/dropio/status/10779185405
ahh, no worries.
Get this! At the St. Pete GP next weekend, one of the Indycars will be painted green and yellow and be sporting the livery of the Lotus. In fact, it will have Lotus Cosworth on the sidepod. I wonder how Honda feels about this.
I saw something on that a few days ago. It looks really good
Well, for an indycar.
A brief post to keep me amused
http://formula1archive.blogspot.com/2010/03/autodromo-benguela-raceway.html
...and it looks like the 12 Hours is about to end. Must say, that felt a little like 13 hours
Speaking of cossie, we had someone running a swapped sierra rs motor in their car today. It was pretty interesting seeing that motor as I haven't seen one since I left europe
i really have to sleep. thank you everyone for comments, don't forget the website review, your thoughts are appreciated:

catch you all tomorrow.
Good night
Night
I tried to go to Schumacher's website when I went to it first, the site decided to blocked access to all the other driver's websites. ;)
And then rammed your laptop into the wall...
That that does is knock Schumacher's website into the Williams' website and off the internet.
Thats me done. Night all, I have 3 hours sleep before I move an office!
Night Gavin.
Right - I think I'm done writing. I say think, because I can no longer concentrate - which basically means sleep time.
Night all.
Good night to those who are leaving
Good morning :)
morning Kathi :D
I didn't get cake because my friend fell asleep and then I fell asleep in an attempt to get rid of my random giant headache :(
If I had left the house I would have possibly been able to find Catherine at the food and wine festival :D
Hey Amy and Kathi. :D
I know where Heikki is. What a shame I've already had dinner :D
Poor Heikki!
I hope he makes it sunday before he gets eaten
:D
Wow, tis a quiet Sunday morning. :)
Morning everyone :)
I don't know what to do with myself with no race on. My weekends are now planned around them! :)

Hello, sorry I was just in the middle of something, sorry about the noise ;)
There's always Giggles Radio. :D Have you returned to BST, Alex? You're on at 4 PM right?
I have not returned to BST yet, and I believe the rest of the country hasn't either ;) I think it's next weekend.
4pm is the time. Sidepodcast is the place. Be there, or be elsewhere.
It's hip to be square, but it's hipper to be here, I'm sure. We're on for the letter... H?
morning everyone
sorry - bit new to this - what's giggles radio and where do i find it?!
Morning Leigh.
Hip Hop Hour*
*no actual hip hop is scheduled
You can find it here at 4 PM GMT. There will be a thread for it. It's a music show focusing on songs and/or artists starting with a letter of the alphabet. This week, it's the letter H. :)
:D
It's a live show from 4 to 6 pm UK time on Sundays. It has nothing really to do with F1 but it's got music and waffle and... Well you'll find it on the homepage then.
oh thanks :D
Ooh I wake up to see you kids with your hippety hoppety music :p
morning!
morning lukeh
:D Hey there Lukeh.
You can listen to the old shows here: http://sidepodcast.com/category/giggles-radio/
:)
Are you playing Angry Birds too?
ooh - just read on twitter that it would have been Ayrton Senna's 50th birthday today...
OOOH. That is quite something I think.

Hello, i have about 100 screaming kids in work at the moment. I'm hiding in the staff room with a bowl of my favourite soup.
Hi Alison, that sounds like a good idea
Cripes, that was bad planning. Can you lock them ina room?
Boxing gloves in the McLaren?
http://cdn.gallery.autosport.com/picture_free.php/dir/2010senna1/image/l_93_aus15-2
Why exactly are there kids at work?
My guess is everywhere. They get into everything
wow that is alot of kids...
That would be about right if it's an MP4/5b
Excellent idea. Kids + retail = arrrrghhhhhh.
Nice enough day today - think I may treat myself to a trip for some foodery
to fight off Alain?
Thatwas my guess
Morning all
Hi Jon
Makes sense
morning jon
hello
I had an email about it. I hadn't considered th noise would be quite this loud...
Dare I ask where you work to have 100 kids in?
Ha! Youv never walked past a school?
I bet its a trampoline testing factory
That would be awesome
explains why she's so tired when she gets home!
Stair factory? You could tell them all to pretend to be Harry Potter and sit under them
i'm back - i have to know why there are 100 kids in alison's work!
Their parents need a rest?
They're looking round and doing a treasure trail. Stupid school trip... Apparently it's good to be part of your local community... I'm not seeing th benefits.
She hasn't replied in a while, I think they've stormed into the staff room and stolen her soup
A school trip?!
ITS SUNDAY!
On a Sunday?
Hey all.
A school trip on a sunday? I'm glad my school was rubbish
Hi RG
I'm glad my teachers were all on strike not to bother doing Sunday things
but she always bounces back
Im sure the job has its ups and its downs
But there must be a spring in her step when its done.
Well when the opportunity rises you gotta jump at it
Ooh dear.
Before editing, I have just under 1200 pics
Keith, was probably not as snap happy as I was
She does have to make sure that she doesn't get paid by anybody from Prague though. Because you know those cheques always bounce.
hehehe i love editing :)

Oh my GOODNESS!!!!!!
That was 'The Beast'
There were also Two doublers on hand, if needed
300mm x2 x2=!!
omg!!!
Okay I've just had a call from 'the boss' aka head tech, time to go in and help dismantle the set and take down lights :( this bit is always so sad. Bye all! Xx
Aww :( see you later!
Catch ya later Lou
Right - just cleaned the kitchen thoroughly and am now off for a Sunday lunch as a prize
:)
best not to use the kitchen too soon after you've done the big clean because it can be very dispiriting that.
I assumed he meant a pub lunch.
Maybe that's just the way I think
Hello all, just popping in whilst eating lunch as I'm getting some work done today (8 more working days to go). Am impressed with Tesco Customer Service. I'm due a delivery today and they've rung me to let me know they will be late due to staff issues. This is not a problem for me so long as the food arrives today and I was happy that they let me know. I've just checked my e-mail and they've also sent me 2 x £5.00 vouchers. So, I'll still get my food delivery & I'm £10.00 up. Yay :)
Ooh, nice one!
Christine and Mr C arrive at the same time! Suspicious! It's like you're a couple or something ;)
Children = gone it's a happy day :)
phew
People will talk.
Indeed.
I am out and reading a book at the moment. Just to highlight for the sake of Nick how important having a bookmark is I have two in this one book. I slipped one in when I left the house but there already was one.
Does he not believe in them?
Are we likely to read about this on the news perchance?....
It's like Torchwood all over again
Afternoon guys.
Did I mention I went to see a Grand Prix yesterday BTW?
BARROWMAN!! *shakes fist*
Helllo folks.
Hi Gavin, do tell
Hello again
Hey Bassano.
In Denmark, any tournament is called a 'Grand Prix' for some reason - eg the Eurovision is called the 'Melody Grand Prix'.
So yesterday I went to see a Grand Prix because my niece competed in the Funen Junior Gymnastics Grand Prix ;)
A friend of mine insists on referring to F1 as "the Big Prize". It does make it sound quite silly. Eg. "are you coming out this weekend or are you watching the big prize?"
he also calls it "cars going around"
He says this and you call him a friend?
He's not really wrong on either account though
oh yes. It's good to have critics. Stops you getting complacent.
;)
Bassano, are you back in the UK?
Alex....
I thought you had a better taste in friends... does he always talk like a Hollywood "B" movie from the 50's?....
This morning, yes
Can I ask you a question about the Spa trip then?
Of course
If I was to meet you guys in the UK and drive to Spa with you, how much do you think it would cost?
Fuel & airfare?
Are you driving from the UK? I was wondering if it was possible to tag along with someone from the UK if they meet me somewhere but I wonder how much the Ferry/Train over the channel costs?
There's at least 2 cars going that I know of so far
I figure about £100 worth of fuel to be safe.
Eurotunnel is £50 or less per car
Accommodation & GP tickets are variable
Plus food & drink
Hey everyone,
Just in from Sunday lunch - it's nice out and I'm rather happy
:)
How is everyone?
Is that per car or per person? Do you have a spare seat in your car and how many are driving down with you?
I have said yes to the campervan but because I can't drive I have to see how I get down to Spa. Either fly to Gatwick and somebody picks me up or fly to Brussels and meet you there...
Good, thanks Leigh
Did you have a roast?
Heya Leigh. Am alright, bit battered but I'll live. Just jealous you had some nice sunday dinner :)
You had better believe I had a roast - just reward for cleaning the kitchen this morning
:)
Fuel is per car for the entire journey. At the moment I have Lou & Amy, so I should have a spare seat but I need to confirm that
If you're flying, it would make sense to go via Brussells, I'd imagine
I have just had a look at the numbers and if I can fit in your car it actually works out a little cheaper. Can I let you know in a couple of days what I would like to do as I am just getting Mrs. Goat to check the prices for a rail trip down...?
Sure
Hmmm... would love to head to Spa this year - alas I am broke.
:(
Thanks man ;)
luxurious mobile home
:D
Thanks for Rich's details Kathi
*Ahem* yes, quite ;)
Just need to buy my GA tickets and figure out the best way to travel. Mrs. Goat wants it sorted soon (as it's cheaper if we do it now) which is good, I can have peace of mind that it's sorted :D
:) Did you meet?
Sadly no
He had a few work things on and on Saturday we wanted to stay near the city as the Cape Town Festival was on
How is everyone today?
I'm knackered because I only had 3 hours sleep after Sebring, was driven across country to help pack up some boxes in return for getting two couches (which I had to haul back ) :D
Sleepy, but good. Watching Japan 1995 while waiting for Giggles Radio. :)
Did you watch The Sebring?
Happy but my legs are hurting. This football eh. Just waiting for the great Giggles Radio.
Pretty bored, sundays can be so bleh! Roll on 4pm!
I watched the start and the end. :) Didn't chat much this morning as you guys were talking about the Red Bull thingy. :D
what's on at 4?
Giggles Radio
Yeah it kinda took over eh. There were some of us still watching The Sebring but I think we all had one eye on the Crash Ice thingy!
ahhh...
I've got an exam in medical word processing tomorrow morning... ...followed by a 7-hour wait for terminology class. I may need to take a good book and fully-charged PDA to amuse myself...
Mmmm I am going to have Shepherd's Pie for tea...
evening.. we packed up all the set today, just the three of us. carrying 18ft set pieces was.. interesting. I (heart) being a techie... even if i do ache a bit..
You know what? I just realised something... All the techies at my school have ended up getting really cool jobs...
Three people turn up to do the hard work after so many are involved in the show. That is pathetic.
Is there a debrief tonight?
Does any of you know how much space windows 7 needs on a disk?
I don't think the live server is ready yet so no live show but the podcast should be up tomorrow night.
sadly i was the only one there who is a student of my school. The two guys both left the school we do productions with last year. One of them has his own disco company and owns part of a large lighting company..(hence why he comes back to help)
I wiped my laptop and installed 7 a few weeks ago. I haven't added much since and I have 12 gigs of my hard drive used
Does this help? http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/system-requirements.aspx
we weren't that impressed. The 'teacher' involved turned up before us, realised the school was locked and left. When the three of us arrived we found the relevant people in the boarding houses to open it up for us... even if they did have to lock us in while they were away.
Thank you. That is a lot :(
I also used the Upgrade Advisor to check my PC before I upgraded, no issues (so far)
I'm not planning to updrade, XP is fine for my netbook. But I might buy myself a new one after this summer and I'm trying to find out how big the disk has to be at [opposite of most].
Windows 7 box says 16 GB required for installation. I have the home premium version and have 12.2 GB of my hard drive used and have one or two things other than Windows on it
least
cheers
thanks :)
Or you could use "a minimum of...."
Languages are too difficult
It's worth the upgrade when you buy a new machine. I really like it!
I don't really care which windows is on it, I just need it for emergencies if something doesn't work with Linux. But the new ones all have 7 anyway.
Evening :)
How are we?
Nasty.
I'm horrible apparently
hey Alison, I'm okay. how did work go with all the kids?
:D They went home and all was good!
yay :)
:(
It's fine anyways, you can be nasty to Nick today. He's refusing to make me pancakes....
He is quite a few hundred/thousand miles away, they'd be cold by the time they got to you
Nooooo! I was promised pancakes. He's coming over and is refusing to make me any....
Again?
if Lukeh can make pancakes then there is no reason Nick cant... :)
He'll break...eventually
I know!!! These were apology pancakes :P
theres a video and everything.
Pancakes?
Belated pancake day pancakes to be precise....
exactly...
oooh now we need to know!
Noooooo he didn't do anything. Other than fail to produce pancakes for me on pancake day. That's completely a deal breaker!
Were you in Dubai on pancake day?
That's not the point! :P
No, it really is.
You're moaning because he didn't make pancakes for you, even though he wasn't in the same continent as you?
Looks like you will be due an expensive present to make up for the poor apology
Forgiveness is available. In return for pancakes!
But he did nothing wrong?
I DESERVE PANCAKES!!!
Because?
I like them. It makes me happy. Am I not allowed to be happy? :(
Oooh Guilt trip. Nice try.
More to the point, he promised to make some when he saw me....
awwww poor Alison... Pancakes only take a few moments to cook/ prepare.. surely it's not like Alison is asking him to make her a full roast dinner...
I agree with lou.
Make them yourself. Dead easy
Booo you :(
If he promise them to you, then he should make them for you.
But you're gonna be waiting a while
noooo i meant it's easy for Nick to make them....
Wait a minute. A man lied when he was with you knowing he would be on a different continent when he was due to deliver. Do you think that has ever happened before?
:D
I'm sure you'd never behave like that Steven.
Never, never, never. I ain't making pancakes either
GRRR at you Alison
Now I want Pancakes
why don't you make some? i hear they are really easy to make ;)
You know how Alisons been on a "im not going to spend any money" thing, well now im on one and have no milk or eggs.
I go home Thursday, so am using up what i've got
you have no milk? what happens if you fancy a cup of tea?
I
hatedon't drink tea and don't have cereal for breakfast, so i dont usually have anyah fair enough then..
I got a pint earlier because i was cooking with it, but used most of it and drank the rest
How long do eggs last?
Until they hatch
ta for that :D
It says best before 4th feb (i havent used eggs in a while)
Will it still be ok?
Probably not, I think.
I cracked it and it looks ok. will google it
er..i think not..
I think 6 weeks out of date is stretching things a bit
Dare you to stick it in a glass and drink it
;)
Better poach it or fry it. Googled eggs don't taste as good.
boooo
its already in a cup....but no ta :D
Shhhh.... I'm trying to score you some days off work
4 things wrong with that statement....
1) it's university
2) all my lectures are finished
3) my driving test is in 2 days
4) i would quite like to go to silverstone on wednesday thank you :D
In that case, I'll tell you what happened in the Jeremy Kyle show
;)
aha . ta
Jon you need to test it before you crack it. For future reference, get a bowl of water and put the eggs in, if they sink, they're fine, if they float you should put them in the bin. It tells you if air has got in the shell which is what makes them go off.
I found that on google.
Too late
My logic is a bit backwards there.... If it's going off inside, the process produces the gas which makes it float. It still works though.... Next time eh?
Yeah, tis a good idea, just a bit late. I'm going to get milk. I WANT PANCAKES
Hehehe do it!
#blamealison
You can't do worse than Lukeh with his multiple mugs :P
and multiple plates :)
#iheartyoureallylukeh..
They were still tasty :(
I ROCK at making pancakes
I would live stream it, but a lack of 3G or internet more than a metre away from my desk wall means that wont be happening :P
Awww I thought it was cute. The reason you measure things in mugs is to get the same amount. It doesn't work so well with different cups :P
awww i'm sure they were :)
The second time later that day I made more I was much more sorted with it all, not to mention that I didn't take 10 minutes that time to decide what self raising flour does. From my initial experience, it turned out that it is flour that raises.
The more you know, eh?
:D
They really need a new name that gives you a clue
I'm back! The egg was fine. I haven't gone blind! Hoorah
I've had an incredibly quiet day today - mostly setting up a predictions competition for a forum. Yes, I know we've missed a race. But then so did the forum (technical problems), so that's OK then. Less OK is trying to find a suitable 3rd prize for last year's running of the competition (long story, don't ask...)
We'll check back to see how you are in an hour
;)
evening sidepodworld...
how is the weekend going for you?
Hi Guille. Has been a mixed bag personally, how about you?
AMY!!!!!!
it just passed by... I haven't left the house since Friday. Outside is rainy and windy, inside is warm and cozy :-)
Right now I'm scanning pictures.
Just watch Wonders of the Solar System on BBC2. Great episode. They talked about Titan one of Saturn's moons which is the most Earth like thing in the solar system except it is 180 degrees colder. But it has weather, rain, lakes etc except instead of water Titan has methane. I knew all that but what I hadn't realised is when it rains there because gravity is so weak (Titan is much smaller than the Earth) and the atmosphere is a lot more dense than ours the methan rain forms huge raindrops like snow flakes and they float slowly down just like snow flakes. That would be weird.
They also discussed the biggest storm in the solar system. The Earth could fit in it three times.

Evening folks, hope everybody's sunday went well. Been in the shop all day here repairing my differential as something felt off yesterday and I've been meaning to put my new lsd in
yes? .

GOOGOGO
OMG Does he not know F1 drivers are supposed to be out of reach of mere mortals?
I dont know any :(
Around your desk?
Shame he's not here - there is a great cross country track nearby
Tell him there is one next to where you live and tell him to meet you at your place. Sod running
http://twitter.com/H_Kovalainen/status/10841570734
go go go go go go!!!
Cue Lance Armstrong type meet up
Do you know a golf course he can play because given the exchanges between him and Gascoyne that is what he really wants.
Heikki put the go in golf
You have to go amy! That basically says 'here I am amy, come and find me and we'll be best mates'
He probably has Kimi's phone number
Suggest cake for afters ;-)
He is going to run the tan track
http://twitter.com/H_Kovalainen
Well that's nice and out of the way, in the middle of Melbourne.
nice and easy for Amy to get to then.... go amy go!!
Around my desk is not cross country but he is more than welcome to do it. I have spent 2 hours staring at a job application. I hate them so much :(
You wait till then promote you then look for a move?
I dont even know what the tan track is but Webber said in an interview he runs it too. I just asked a few colleagues and they dont know either. google time
Google maps is your friend. It's around the Botanic Gardens
Perfect. Lots of bushes you can sit behind :)
and get out in front of him saying 'do you wan't to be my friend?'
mmm.... I think she needs a good story ;-)

The funny thing is I am actually wearing running clothes today. Sadly I am at work for another 6.5 hours so unless he goes on a really really long run i cant join him. Plus the job I am applying for is a permanent version of the role i am currently doing :D
I hope they are all doing this "out and about" stuff on Thursday.
*serious stalking time*
:( :( :( :(
You get a lunch break
I cant get to the gardens and back in an hour :(
a looong lunch break?
Don't forget your doctor's appointment
Evening folks - just back in. How's everyone?
everything's ok here. how're you?
I am driving 674km on Wednesday, to Melbourne. it looked so short on Google maps.
Been better to be honest. Nearly just got wiped out by some moron do about 50mph down back street - not the happiest.
Hey hey hey
hey bassano
Hey Guille,
How's Argentina these days?
Watch out for those micro sleeps
You're not kidding. I should get through a fair bit of my ipod music
Rainy. It seems that autumn is here... well, summer never really came to Bariloche, anyway... ;-)
Is there a Twitpic iphone app of some sort?
Must try to catch that on the i
There is
Twitpict
Though lately, I prefer to use a Twitter client such as Twittelator or or Twitbit that handles media well
Aha, tricky. Anyone used it? I have no idea how this twitpic thing works.
Are they free?
Hi Guille and Bassano and anyone else I missed arriving
Well worth a watch. It's a great series but this was the best one
I've used it in the past
First of all, you need to register your twitter stuff with twitpic.com
For most uses it works well
I think they both have free versions, yes
Is it available outside the UK?
OK, shall have to test tonight. I think I am leaving things a bit late.
I've missed a lot of science fact in my tv sabbatical
Nah, easy stuff to learn on the fly
Search Social Media apps for 'pic' for alternatives
okey dokey
Depends hhow resourceful you are
Or if it's shown on BBC America
Actually, the category here is called "Social Networking"
mmm... my cable operator doesn't even have the BBC
Well, this is Web 2.0 ;)
:-)
Don't think so. There are three episodes available here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/w/tv
Though I'm sure google is your friend also ;)
yes, it is ;-)
now I just need an internet connection that can handle that volume of information...
Slow and long
the things that one does to get some extra education :P
True story :)
I need to go to cook my dinner. see you later!
Enjoy Guille
Later
I can't think of what its called;
its to do with Nazi's and forum conversations. Can anyone help me out?
Can you be a bit more specific Jon?
It's something like, as soon as nazi's are mensioned in a forum it means the conversation has ended. someone must know what im talking about.
im really bad at explaining because i cant think what it is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law
gotcha
