Hello everyone! How are you on this fine Sunday? Enjoying the break from F1? No, neither am I. However I have a plan to help us stay happy and smiling on this second Sunday of our holiday. To help on this F1- less day here is a cute little link. Everyone loves baby animals right?
It may be the holidays, but what better time is there to write a mid season report for the drivers? Stitch has given each driver a grade for their efforts this year. Check her posts out, here, here
and here. They’re super!
Being a non Grand Prix weekend (sorry for reminding you again) there aren’t many F1 things to chat about in today’s daily so I have some wonderful, random and arty links to share with you instead.
• Now I know Easter is a long way away, but I stumbled across this lovely blog yesterday and this amazing post on how to make some rather special easter egg cupcakes. I may make some today, get some practice in.
• We all love exposure shots, they have a beautiful way of capturing chaos and motion like no other technique. These shots are just as wonderful.
• Each year I love seeing what amazing things people come up with at the Red Bull Flugtag event. Here are some classics from this year.
• Check out these propaganda style posters Aaron Wood designed for social networking sites. How brilliant.
• Last week I pointed out some examples of how you can make art from anything, well here is another. Artwork created with a typewriter! Well they’ve got to be useful for something these days.
• My last treat for you all is very special. The internet is a brilliant place – where else could you make music by drawing lines? Try it and see if you find it as addictive as I do.
That’s about it for today everyone, hugs for you all.
Great post, Lou, but no news from Giggles about his radio show, huh ?
am i allowed to say "yes"?
nice daily lou. if you're around you might need to look at the post excerpt though, the homepage has eaten f1minute.
if you must ;)
ooopps, sorry was distracted when i did that. Fixed, i think.
*hugs*
big hugs?:)
woah!
ooh, the typewriter linky is missing a http:// (i think)
Evening folks
I gather Pippa Mann has a concussion and lots of bruising.
can't talk... i'm making music with lines.
*bleep*
Fair enough
quite.... addictive.
lesson - never finish a daily while distracted..
Playing the strings then ? Can I request "Adagio for Strings" then ?
last thing, stitch is a lady. you would've know that though.
*wouldn't have.
ehehe! i know! almost as addictive as this - www.sembeo.com/media/Matrix.swf
i've linked to it in the comments before tho. :)
oh goodness! i'm so sorry! fixed.
Also, IndyCar has ditched the idea of aero kits for the 2012 car and will be supplying the field with just Dallara mods for the season. The kits are now being introduced in 2013...
sounds like a plan. if no-one has the money what can they do.
True - it's just a shame they didn't plan it like that originally. This just makes the series and its organisers look a bit foolish - again.
true. but they could plan to fire rockets out of their backsides in 2012 and it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference if we can't watch it.
#stillnotforgiventhem
In all fairness, that was down to the TV company, not the series. Also just think, if you do decide to go down the Sky route for F1, it gets you the IndyCar coverage too
;)
but they chose the tv company. do they have plans to fix it for 2012?
oooh, hadn't thought about that.
They didn't. They TV company they were with merged with NBC at the start of the year and NBC said "no" to any online coverage of any of the Versus products.
Are you sure that is a positive?
point taken, but they still signed a contract that allowed it to happen. bernie would've had that locked down.
heheh.
The TV deal was signed by a guy with as much business sense as a lemon and the series pretty much had no choices left.
Everyone else bailed on them.
hehe.
and the result is, we, an audience from 2010 bailed on them.
Exactly - the downward cycle goes on. Encouragingly though the audience figures so far this year are up quite considerably, but that still makes for small numbers.
hello sidepodpeople...
lou, I love you're arty links, the pictures from the train are great! :)
I've learnt to play internet games just for 10 sec, and leave them before they suck my life... ;-)
*beep*
what? oh right.
:D
:D
May I use the collective knowledge about web design on SPC? I'm changing the theme of my blog, and I'd like to have opinions on it:
http://guille2306-testing.blogspot.com/
There are still some rough edges, but the basic idea (format and colours) is there. For reference, this is the old theme:
http://guille2306-pictures.blogspot.com/
Lou, I LOVE your dailies! This one takes us from kittens to a giant tiger hug.
And those pics in the tunnel are incredible. I want to see how he did that, what the set up was.
nice. i think sometimes a three-pane layout can look more cluttered over main/sidebar. i like the green links and headers.
thanks Kai, i loved your daily yesterday - sorry i didnt get time to comment on it!
gotta love giant tiger hugs! :)
me too!
Thanks. In principle I agree on the three-pane, but I also don't like very long sidebars. The idea is to have navigation on the left, social/links/etc. on the right.
The support for a top navigation menu is very weak on blogger, so I had to compromise a bit. The template is wider to compensate
ah-ha, that's what i was about to suggest. good compromise then :)
How well do you know your Formula 1 history?
The book That'll be the Day: 365 F1 Stories takes a look at significant moments or quirky happenings on this day in Grand Prix history. Can you guess what event the following describes?
Excellent daily, Lou. I keep thinking it's Monday today, so it should help!
That line making music thingy is so addictive. *keeps playing*
Love the homepage message :)
lol that wasn't me.. am assuming my attempt at fixing things last night didn't work :D thanks for fixing Mr (or/and) Mrs C :)
Aaron Wood's posters are stunning! Thanks for sharing, Lou!
Swap Shop Ping! - http://toomuchracing.com/2011/08/14/lewis-hamilton-v-2011/
Christine, that Dulko lady married a footballer :)
http://www.wtatennis.com/page/OffCourtNews/Read/0,,12781~2417557,00.html
Well now she is that Gago lady which is nowhere near as catchy.
maybe she won't change her name, she hasn't changed it on Twitter so far :)
Or I could just tweak it to The lady formerly known as Dulko. I could work with that.
we can practice during the US Open, only two weeks to go!
It's VERY catchy in our language. :D Not the kind of word you'd want to be described with...
Excellent!
no, no. you did fine.
i just want to reduce the amount of things we need to check for each daily. so that message will stay.
ohhh that makes sense for you both :) so no more excerpts for daily writers? *makes note for next week* :)
indeedy.
when i read the 'Racing, spacing, a cup of tea would be amazing' bit i imagine JB saying it in his fake head and shoulders advert voice! :D
less work for you both makes me happy :)
sums up the daily comments content nicely too :)
exactly! brings a smile to your face and sums us all up... although now i need a cup of tea.. :)
more f1minute stickers ordered. christine's sending out as many as we currently have.
I happily await more f1 minute stickers being randomly stuck in public places :)
they're going all over the world. hope we get piccies back.
HELLO WORLD
Glad to see you all still exist
I a thinking of starting a movement with the aim of putting all ISPs against a wall and shooting them
You need to move to Finland or somewhere they have internet service for more than 2 days at a time.
I ran out of internet yesterday and assumed I had a tech problem. This morning I awoke with the realisation that my internet payment was due and because it had not been made they had cut me off. The reason it had not been made was because I was offered a free month as compensation for last month's problems. One phone call proved I had been correct and the guy reading the notes said that I had been offered £20 off a dongle which I had not.
I hate ISPs
they should give you another month free, for the hassle :)
He also told me he could re-connect my broadband in 15 minutes which came as a great surprise because I was alwaystold it could take up to 24 hours before
I did suggest not having a connection for over24 hours was cruel and unusual punishment. Frankly it is more hassle than it is worth to argue for that
Sounds like fun. The SidepodTrek Security detachment could use the target practice.......
You would be performing a great service for humanity
But then you have no one to reconnect you.
Then we move to internet 2.0
Steven Roy 14/08/2011 at 14:57:07
Sounds like fun. The SidepodTrek Security detachment could use the target practice.......
You would be performing a great service for humanity
Does anyone know where we kept that muzzle loading signal cannon, and saltpeter? we can load it up with nails, buckshot, and bb pellets and really have some fun....
Internet Finn.0
Saltpeter? Did we just go back 150 years?
I am sure that there a few ex-RIM employees from their London branch that will be more than happy to regrow the ISP service that Steven uses....
Yep. Giant bunker in Finland and the internet written by Mr C
Just making sure no ISP providers escape during reloading...... Canoons from 150 years loaded with grapeshot have a nice trick of keeping targets alive a little bit longer by removing limbs....
I find that description disturbing.
Lou got me addicted to music by drawing lines. Cruel
Sorry, I haven't even had breakfast yet. :)
I LOVE that line thingy! I sent it to friends.
Have you put lines right up close to the opening? It sounds awesome.
I just stopped playing with the thing with the squares. Now this. And of course I had to try to find out what happened if you made a box round all your lines so the balls can never escape
ooh, I'll have to try that. I did a bunch of levels. That was cool. I feel like I'm designing a Pong screen.
Hmmmm, that bunker idea in Finland just might work after all, found this about a series of forts and bunkers built by the Finns to defend their birder with the Russians. They called it the Mannerheim Line
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mannerheim_Line
heh!
I made a double triangle shape round the opening and have a nice bass going. Unfortunately it is being drowned by all the high screechy stuff
Pong you can never lose. What's not to like
It feels like I'm listening to an fast talking version of the Clangers
We had a discussion on that here ages ago. Not sure they had internet though
:D
A long horizontal line half an inch under the opening is very Clangery
Since the bunkers would be connected by field Telephone lines as a back up to the radios, or as more secure system, yes they would have the technology for some old-school (dial-up) connections... You might first have to wind up the contracts on the telephone to get a call started, although.
Here's someone who hates her Kindle: http://www.enlightenmenteconomics.com/blog/?p=1075
Although I'm not sure she knows how to use it properly!
"You can’t safely spill sunscreen or wine on an electronic device, or get sand in it, or leave it out in bright sunshine."
lies. i've done three of those things and the mac is still working.
I managed to totally lock up my laptop with that music thing. I created a box that none of the balls could escape from and they went mental
"I hate the way my e-book has comments and highlights from strangers on it, even if I can turn the feature off."
well that's just stupid. I didn't like that either so I turned it off. I don't know that I can turn it off and then still complain about it.
Paper doesn't respond well to wine spillages or sunscreen and fades badly in bright sunshine
i feel a comment coming on...
Any news from the Giggles Front?
Must...avoid....Kindle...arguments....
Ironically this lady is the wife of Rory Cellan-Jones!
http://www.enlightenmenteconomics.com/blog/?p=1075
ahh the second comment on the article says everything I was thinking. Phew.
Sorry, trying to link to the google+ post: https://plus.google.com/114840173700805743995/posts/gzffvu5DSXa
The owners of the house we rented will find I’ve left them a stack of paperbacks finished on holiday, so the weight in the luggage is only one way.
Littering!
if I came home to find a stack of books I might cry.
You rent out your house and come back to find a pile of books you didn't want
We left a stack of books in NZ for the lady who took over our flat, because she paid us some money for various bits of furniture we couldn't take with us. I doubt she was a Tom Clancy fan though!

<3
well done :)
good lord.
I just took the next step in my running adventures and bought a heart rate monitor. It's easier than actually running you see :)
:)
I bet you start wearing it all the time just to get base line data.
I do like data! Plus it's always handy being able to check that your heart is still beating and thus you're still alive.
I am also pondering going along to the Nike+ run club when it starts here in a couple of weeks. I generally don't like other people but you get a free t-shirt and I'm easily bribed by things like that.
Knowing you are still alive is useful
It's a free t-shirt. Besides you may find you like running with others or find someone with an interest in F1
they have different groups that run at different paces and the slowest one is about the pace I run at now so I'm not too scared that everyone will be better than me. My few friends in Melbourne all seem to be developing a recent obsession with leaving Melbourne so I thought meeting some new people might be nice. I'm generally not good at meeting new people though, I'm good at going to situations where I should be able to meet new people and then not talking to any of them :)
Maybe one of the heart rate monitor geeks will approach you. THey must exist
I'm sure they do. They might judge me for buying a discontinued entry level model but hey what can I say, I'm cheap :D
umazin'

grrrrrrrrrrrrr
you know you wanna comment :)
I am showing excellent restraint :D
i do love this comment though: http://www.enlightenmenteconomics.com/blog/index.php/2011/08/why-i-hate-the-kindle/#comment-2918
hadn't even considered that.
Probably the same as making a spelling mistake. They won't be able to stop themselves commenting
I demonstrated the text size thing to my mum and she said it would have been perfect for my nana because once she stopped being able to read small print she spent the rest of her life being rather bored. The only real issue is none of the menus or anything get any bigger, it's just the books themselves.
Well, I think I will be leaving everyone for the day. If you are suffering from open-wheel racing withdraw, ABC TV is suppsoed to have Oval racing at New Hampshire at 3:30 EDT, today, or roughly 3 hours and 40 minutes from now....
Curses, no Giggles Radio....
Have a good day.
Enjoy a little something from the Sidepodcast back catalogue.

Hi Leigh
Hi Steven,
How are you (and everyone) today?
:)
I'm good. All set for the Indycar race?
For those watching the Indycar race later, the green flag has been brought forward to 8.37pm (UK time) as rain is expected.
I think the Sky Sports broadcast kicks off at 8.30pm.
I miss the race as I'm off to a gig tonight, but will get it tomorrow evening.
I didn't realise it was that late
The LIghts race has only just started, so green flag at Loudon was originally to be 4pm (Eastern)
Yep - IndyCar starts on Sky Sports 4 at 8.30pm (UK)
Yep. Raining and cool here in CT, not all that far away.
Thanks Leigh
Dreadful story I heard about Indy Light's Stefan Wilson last night. Apparently the team is so broke, they're using tyres from a previous race at Iowa.
Wilson has in just pulled into the pits to finish early. Apparently, they just needed the car to run in the early laps just to count as an entry. No real intention to compete. Sad, just sad.
#IndyLights
I hate when that happens. If they can't afford to race they should not be allowed an entry
...and with that, my MacBook just decided to die (now on ancient cheap Windows back-up machine)
Any Mac folks about for an urgent question?
Hello.
Start and park in IndyCar, even the feeder series, is something I didn't expect to see given the upswing I thought they were on.
Also I hear it is raining at Watkins Glen so NASCAR isn't racing, I was hoping to watch Ambrose and Montoya (and Gordon) show the others who's boss
Why they don't bring rain tyres to road courses I'll never know
Heavily or just light rain?
I don't know
It's a steady rain. Nothing heavy, but no signs of letting up. Nationwide does have rain tires. They were available yesterday and it was covered during the show. They have used them in the past, at Montréal.
Evening. About to have dinner and i've just been translating something from Danish to English.
Re the Kindle link I sent earlier, Mrs. Goat is a big reader and after I showed her the Kindle App, she can't stop reading on the iPad and iPhone. She doesn't love technology either, so it must be quite good really ;)
How does it affect the TMR Game? ;)
Nationwide and Cup cars can't be that different can they? Just fit those..
Might delay it a day
Wassup Leigh?
Evening folks
The keypad, mousepad and off-button on my MacBook have become completely unresponsive - can't do anything at all.
Try resetting the PRAM
Reboot and hold down Cmd [apple] Option P and R until you hear The second 'bong' on start up
75 laps into the 100 lap Indy Lights race at loudon and Josef newgarden has lapped the entire field.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
May have to take battery out if you can't switch off
Cheers. Hoping this boots up right. My cover is up next month, so I may take it in for a check up soon.
Wonder if Dario will do the same later :)
Definitely time to book a Genius Bar appointment then
Damn - nowt working
:/
Good stuff.
if you have a removable battery, remove it for an hour or so. no idea why but that used to fix our old toshiba thing.
I was just reading about that
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/four-killed-stage-collapses-fair-us-050221170.html
Will do
Hehe that all drop music thing that Lou put in the dailly is fantastic, I've had fun :-)
I think I am a genius jazz composer with that
woah!!
hehe it's awesome :D it's dominated my weekend :)
I was reading tweets about it late last night as IndyCar people were finding out, terrible business.
Ny daughter has been moaning that she can't concentrate on the telly because of it ... ought to stop for a while
I saw reports of 45 mph + winds at the time
:o
It will do her good to get away from the TV for a while
heheh, I love the BBC's Andrew Cotter, he does commentary for golf, rugby, all sorts really. His twitter feed is hilarious.
I'm struggling to find anything to say about this USPGA at the moment. Instead, here's the intro to The Littlest Hobo: bit.ly/A2ew4
:D hehe best not point this out then ;)
It will indeed, thank goodness there are no soaps tonight
Oooh like that one even more
oh dear god.
Josef Newgarden just won the Indy Lights race.
He also led every lap, set the fastest lap and lapped the entire field.
I have officially developed ADD.
Thank you, SPC. :)
That one is incredibly addictive
Give Newgarden a Hoegaarden. Wait, is he old enough?
Goodbye blog post hellooooooooo distraction!
Can I interest anyone in writing a guest post for RG in the Swap Shop since Leigh's laptop is out of action?
hehehe that one is my fav of the two but i think i mentioned that in the comments a while ago so wanted something new for you all :)
Yep, big time I love that one
i (heart) creating little layered patterns of music with it :)
bagsy i volunteer steven.
i second this.
Not yet I don't think
Not this time. Sorry
Hehe
awe
I can't remember if I was supposed to be writing one already. I'm struggling for a topic
:)
You are, can't remember who for, will go and check
Ah yes, it's for Jack's anF1lBlog
be interested to hear what you think about wilson be injured because he was tall and whether the "head/rollbar" test is enough in modern racing. should tall people be excluded for their own safety, should cars be designed for taller people?
Thanks
you could include the new design to be safer for taller people. I read that somewhere, but wait, is that out now for next year or is it still part of the package for 2012?
I think I read it here in his blog entry from this week. A good read. I guess he has the time now to do it. :(
http://www.racer.com/justin-wilsons-blog-sorry-for-the-delay/article/209435/
Interesting. Wonder if that's ok for an F1-only site... I'll give it a go, cheers
Looks like it will be a Monday race at The Glen. Drivers being interviewed in street clothes.
I think I want to go to a BossGP round.. Ex-F1, F3000, Champ Cars and Indycars
Video via race winner @TomCoronel http://t.co/tHrddZG
I had no idea BOSS still existed
It died then someone bought it and brought in some old Arrows and Jaguar cars. Coronel won with that old Benetton reworked by Ascari, though!
It used to be really popular

I've forgone doing any writing the swap post until after the IndyCar race. Got myself set up with pasta and wine..

C'mon Dario!
Conway hits Rahal. Both out.
D'OH!
yikes
I thought they had brought the start to 20:37? I'm missing it...
It's only in the mid 60's F here, so it's cooler than normal and cooler than the past few days.
Rahal has been a magnet for spinning cars this year.
Apparently it was 20:34
17C
Well, that did not that long for Conway and Rahal to crash... all of three corners?
Bah. This is what happens when they start at stupid times.
Helio
Turn 2 again
Scheckter is flying on these starts/restarts. Started 18th, was 9th after the first two corners, went yellow, then up to 6th on the next two corners before another yellow
Sheckter on the march.
oh wow!! http://twitpic.com/662hqp
a shooting star from space. Awesome!
Awesome
I saw 1 or 2 before I went to bed, then I got up at 3:30 to check and I saw 1 more. I love the Perseids.
"Welcome to shooting stars, welcome whoever you are.." :)
That's just awesome
I saw clouds
#blameScotland
Anyone know how far they can go on fuel today?
fantastic
True
how cool! :D
that was like us here last year, i didnt get the chance this year. stupid cloud.
Dario's killing them
I never thought about seeing them from above
9.2 seconds. Power next to be lapped
It seems really odd to think of seeing something like that from such an angle. It;s impressive enough from the floor :)
me neither, am so pleased they captured it for us!
Have you seen the aurora from above. Incredible
Well worth the cost of the ISS and shuttle
I think they showed stuff about it from space on the Richard hammond programs a few weeks back. it looks absolutely stunning, like the earth just having this big force field!
ooh goodness yes! I remember watching a clip of it from Brian Cox's first series. just wow. Although seeing the Aurora has been on my life list for years.
That is exactly what it is. NASA have loads of pics of aurorae on Earth and on other planets
totally :)
Been on mine longer
oooh I keep forgetting to remind myself to watch that first series..
you've probably had your life list longer than me tho ;)
Mine too. :)
ohh they were on Brian Cox's programme too! That must have been my favourite from that first series :)
Just a bit. I need to drive an F1 car soon
hehehe :) Good luck with that one. Can i come take pics when it happens? :)
When you win the lottery don't forget us ;)
I do worry for Dario getting through traffic. I guess you can't tell a racing driver who's leading to slow down or something.
Maybe. At least I will be slow enough for your needs
Did anyone else see Hinchcliffe's pit stop? they had problems.
There are lots of places you can drive an F1 car that don;t need a lottery win
maybe?! :(
Missed it
Didn;t see it
at one point the car seemed to be teetering on the jack, like a wonky table in a cafe.
even though I'm about two minutes behind
Depends where and when. You may be at school. Or at the rate things are happening now you may be working
Moisture in the air - yellow
:) I'm trying to wait and keep that in mind when stuff happens.
#discipline
but they put it back up in the air and got the right rear on and he was good to go.
school? I'm only in uni for 2 full days in a week for most of the next few months anyways i'm sure i could squeeze it in. there must be sidepodcast coverage of one of the commenters driving an f1 car.
It's a while since I last looked at doing it and the last time the best deal was in Las Vegas
2 days a week? And you get a degree for two days a week?
That's a bit further than the coal hole
Just a bit.
Nah, it's about the same distance. ;)
awesome! always wanted to go to Las Vagas..
:D
I don't particulary want to go there. It won't be this year anyway
I like your tactics ;)
2 days of lectures and seminars. one production day and 2 workshop/ tutorial/ production days. I'm marked on the projects... which i do 24/7 can't do a shoot in a wood when i'm at uni, so we get days to go away and do shoots/ go in the darkroom/ studios/ on location.. it's very fun. lots of hard work tho. up and working by 9 and finish before i go to bed. Sketchbooks are intensive.
god i miss being at uni.
i'm not 21 till next year so it works out fine! ;)
So what you are saying is you would not be skiving off to do this you would be working
exactly!
You need to be 21 to take photos in Las Vegas?
"This is the dawning of our brave new world.."
Argh! I just got that song OUT of my head from last week's IndyCar ads! :(
no. but to enjoy las vagas you do ;)
No time for that. Fly in - drive - fly out
You used to be able to drive an F1 car at Spa but that only lasted one season.
totally sounds like a GP weekend :D
Oooh that'd be awesome. And completely terrifying. I think I'd get to about a 1/3 of eau rouge and realise I'm going so slow the car would roll back down
Except there are fewer cars and drivers, they are going a lot slower and there are not as many laps
WHen I first heard about it I was desperate to go there and do it but it didn't happen and the following year Spa was off the list
ok, for a rainy intermission activity draw a smiley face and see what tune it makes.
http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/1XXnXf/www.sembeo.com/media/Matrix.swf
I hope this race goes green again. Running under yellow is pointless
When i broke away already once tonight I thought my evening was safe, but no! :)
:D
sorry. :)
I think they are trying to get to 113, so they could (potentially) call it a race.
Luckily for you it is awesome
Newman Haas just tweeted that track dryers are heading on to the circuit
Definitely
Drawing an F1 car and writing F1 above it makes a nice tune
Good.
As seen on twitter, I do wish Martin Haven was on the mic here. I (heart) him.
N.A. racing announcers are certainly getting a work out today, filling time like it's no-ones business.
How can you draw that? I can barely get a smiley face
My F1 car looks like a plane.
I managed F1, that's about all. Well, and a kind of plane thing in blocks.
Yes he'd be great
Easy!

:D
Minecraft???
Minecraft is awesome. I am truly rubbish at it.
We may be going green soon
Let me see if this link will work.
http://yfrog.com/h6783p
I did mine in a top view. It makes a catchy little tune.
Has anyone made The Chain yet?
I've heard so many things about that game. It's a real cult favourite!
random question but i'm going to bake some cupcakes in a moment and i'm wondering what flavour to try.
I've always wondered about lavender cupcakes. has anyone tried them? If not can i have some suggestions and i'll try my best :)
I can draw a chequered flag but that just makes a lot of noise
No, but I've had lavender cookies and they were yummy.
I just went and picked up a chocolate cupcake. Sidepodcoincidence?
It rocketed into popularity but rightly so, such a simple game in theory but it's just horribly addictive but so creative. It reminds me of being a lot younger and just playing with lego, but in a game.
in the interest of solidarity through baking (kind of) I will now make apple pancakes with strawberries.
red!
no, blue!
In all seriousness... banana. ;)
I thought only Americans thought red and blue were flavors. :)
Are you going to make the egg shell cupcakes in the daily lou?
yum
You mean yellow
green was not recommended
I'm massively impressed in what some people make in it as well. Some of it is amazing.
ohh! i may try to make some. we have lavender just outside the front door..
ohhhh! piccies! :)
We are going green
hehehe
My experience of it on every new playthrough
I chop down trees, get some wood, make a crappy house, make a crappy axe, and then get absolutely destroyed when it gets to night time ans zombies and creepers and allsorts of things come out :D
It's SUCH a good game, especially when it's not even a set game... i mean, everytime you play it's your little world, not a world set for you to follow.
ohh we have some cooking chocolate..
Lavender and chocolate
On the topic of alternative flavours I'm still kind of amazed at the menu at nandos saying they had toffee and chilli sauce.
toffee... and chilli...
Scheckter and TK off. Big crash
oh no. TK. Said he was ok, though.
not tonight, i don't have another recipe i want to do that will use up the other eggs that are needed to create all 12 cupcake/egg things.
'Orrible
maybe.. i know chilli and chocolate is a lovely taste not so sure about chocolate and lavender.. hmm
boo
TK looks fine
This camera coverage is HORRIBLE. They keep cutting away only from the stuff we want to see.
What about vanilla cupcakes? or baileys cupcakes?
mmmmm baileys. and cupcakes.
TK and Scheckter Zonta'd Marco then met on the other side like they didn't know the other was there
Looks like it was lucky Sheckter didn't flip also.
Sub for Justin Wilson not having luck either.
Good job no one was in that portacabin.
you mean normal cupcakes? lol maybe.
I've never considered them to normally taste of vanilla, normal cupcakes taste of... well, cupcake.
I just saw that! hehehe! They just said no one was in there.
vanilla is usually used for 'plain' cupcakes and cakes.. it gives it it's flavour. a victoria sponge recipe for example uses vanilla. Not sure i've make a 'plain' cupcake without putting vanilla essence in it :)
NO
ohh that makes sense. Have made sponge cakes before and put vanilla essence in, for some reason it never clicked it would be the same with cupcakes,
Nooooooooo
cupcakes and sponge cakes = the same recipe just smaller holders :)
no? :(
I hate Nikon. It's their fault the car looks and behaves like a Minardi
Dario
oh no! :(
Blame Sato??
No, I guess not.
always :)
It's yorkshire pudding and pancakes all over again
Dario just stuck his new car in the wall on a re-start after having led every lap bar two at the pit stops
Noooo :(
I made him a nice drawing to win and everything
Wait, there was a crash and it wasn't Sato's fault?
Dear Lord.
oh no!!! he's my favourite (just cause he was super lovely to Kai)
Maybe he was thinking how much he loved Goodwood and was distracted for a second. He and Sato touched wheels and he was in the wall. He's fine, but done.
Wow. He was on to lap the field
I got 8x10's of the Webber and Dario pics and put them up. :)
:D yaaayyy!!! :)
awesome :D
I can't understand how that happened. I want a better view of that. At the first re-start with Sato behind him I was worried something like this would happen but Dario just disappeared that time
booo hooo, seeing Dario's car on The Hook, just hanging there. :'(
Basically, Dario walked off from us and then he came back to tap Kai on the shoul...
...oooh, you mean how the crash happened
:D
SIde be side re-starts are bad. Official
okay, so this is a character builder for Dario.
#stiffupperlip
Looks like he has no intention of taking his helmet off yet
Positivity is the name of the game
(Well, apart from Indy Car)
Dario says it was Sato's fault
I suppose #blamesato has a similar ring to #blamesutil
Maybe Sato was trying to get some of Dario's awesomeness to rub off.
I've never seen him at a loss for words. He blames Sato. What do you guys think? I can't tell and I'm not sure it was Sato's fault...but that seems wrong to say. :)
From the replays I saw when I was hurriedly switching over from the golf, I'd say Dario thought he was a car length ahead of Sato, turned in and collided. So, Dario's fault.
I thought they were aiming at the same piece of track but my feed is stuttery, all of Twitter says it was Dario.
Impossible to say from the stream I have. I need a better picture to judge. In single file re-starts everyone has to accommodate the leader but with the double file re-starts the second guy can inconvenience the leaded by getting very close to him. I don't understand why they were so close together
Tags car on fire
Tags on fire. And I don't mean fast.
in pits. He's out and fine, car is crispy.
Yeah, maybe he made a mistake. It looked like it to me.
Hunter-Reay leads?
shame
Since Dario went out
Wooo!
@PantherRacing
A special thank you to EJ Viso for taking us out of a race for the second-consecutive weekend. Brilliant.
Hildebrand's team venting on twitter. Pat retweeted.
Don't tell Mr C

I had to shunt Tweetdeck to netbook because it or Air makes my videos stutter when it updates, so copy/paste is hard :)
I hope you don't mind me pasting it here, I thought it was interesting and wanted to give you credit. :)
no glad someone else is doing it
in that it saves me typing by hand :)
I'll consider myself deputized. :)
Sato leads
I do hope if it was Dario's fault and he sees it later that he just says that. Then I'd be an even bigger fan. I always like the drivers that are honest and real with themselves.
No not another rain yellow :(
lots of people leaving..
Green green green
Yellow yellow yellow
oh god. Accident on restart. Will Power out.
Michael Andretti angry. "Worst officiating I've ever seen!"
Power out
Not a happy bunny. Says the weather is worse now than when they went yellow
Will Power sooo angry, apparently was yelling on the radio that they could not even put the power down (oops, pun). Then he got out of the car and headed down to chat with someone, throwing his gloves down.
Wow. Drama. What the hell is going on with IndyCar?? This is embarrassing.
Wow. Just saw this now. Drama
Hand signal to the officials from Will Power
They won't like that
Power just flipped off what I would expect to be the officiating stand.
That will cost him.
I hope he doesn't get charged by the finger.
Why don't they just call the race. How much more embarrassment do they need
Sato says the incident with Dario was his (Sato's) fault
oh, Sato takes the blame for the accident, he had debris in his eye and tears and couldn't see.
Wow. Major props to Sato.
#points?
:)
I dunno. Just call it, people! End this mess.
Definitely

Newman Haas/Penske/Ganassi drivers and teams were ALL complaining about the start. ALL of them.
via Pat
They only have 5 laps to go. By the time they get a couple of warm up laps and they check track conditions all they will get is green white checker. Or more likely green yellow yellow
And Andretti
I love how shocked montoya is on twitter :D
This race has gotten off track (I'm punny today, I guess), but this is my perfect Sunday, regardless.
http://yfrog.com/picsy
Not working :(
My Twitter feed lit up like a Christmas tree :) :)
Try this one.
http://yfrog.com/gz3y15j
Just end it now. But in what order?
nom nom nom :)
photo of Power flipping the double-bird in my feed, not for here :)
THe order before the re-start
cue the Benny Hill theme
Chequered flag
hehehe The look on his face is priceless.
Go Ryan!
the expression makes it :D
That's for Lou, as she requested a pic. :)
His comments afterwards were less than diplomatic. He wants the guy who made the call fired
Power really laid into Barnhardt there
good
yeah. I wonder what they'll do about that, if anything - beyond the fines he knows he's getting.
There's the man of the hour, Brian Barnhart.
That Will Power photo is ace!
Finish will be order before the restart.
How can the race control people be on such a different planet than the drivers? Good to see Barnhardt admit fault. I think Power might get off with some community service or something.
Admits it was the wrong call to restart the race. No track officials they spoke to said the surface had changed. Lack of communication from the drivers up to race control.
So everyone on the internet knew none of the drivers thought ot was safe but Barnhart didn't?
yeah, and he gets some points, so that's going to keep him from going insane, hopefully.
Exactly. To that I would add that many people in the stands also knew, since they have 50$ radio scanners and can listen in to the car-to-pit communication. I expect to see replays of this on failblog shortly!
Looks like the Fabregas deal has gone through
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14482418.stm
Yeah it looks like they didn't monitor radio?
Tony Kanaan just offered via Twitter to pay Power's fine
Which is related to one of my favourite tweets of the day from @JamesMawFFT
"Sad to think the Premier League is losing another of its top players to a foreign league. Let's remember the good times http://t.co/6HRmifC"
I refuse to believe this saga has an end to it :)
Shame to see another big player leave the premier league though.
Link fail... youtube.com/watch?v=9q8HR9
Kanaan clearly has regained his sense of humour
http://twitpic.com/667d9q
hehe
:D
:) :)
That didn't work either :(
This joke is going horribly wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q8HR9iuIGc
I wouldn't call him a joke
I wasn't, just referring to the first tweet... I like the guy.
I know. I was trying to rescue your joke with one of mine
Indy post-race conference.... Could be interesting.... Unless the drivers have already been muzzled.

Oh yeah... I saw that.
Servia claiming the victory
yummm!
Thanks for this. Interesting.
This is like a soap opera.
Laps of our Lives?
The Guiding (tail)Light?

cupcakes are cooking.. now for the horrible bit.. tidying up :(
oh yeah, that sucks. But I clean as I go as much as I can so it's not as bad.
think of the cupcakes as a reward for tidying up :)
ahh, i do that at uni for some reason, but never at home. i think i'm more relaxed here.
trying to think of a frosting to go on them.. or if i just want icing.. and if i want icing.. hmm
They're calling Will Power's pic "Angry Birds". :D
Don't let Mr C mix your icing
:D
:)
There's a version tweeted by Kanaan which has Angry Birds photoshopped on top of Power's fingers :) :)
I like a little cupcake with my frosting, personally. If they're lavender you could go with vanilla? What's the difference between frosting and icing? the consistency?
hahaha
Frosting and icing are different?!
I always assumed frosting was a fancy name for icing #somuchtolearn
w00t!
ooh wait, icing is like on those custard cakes isn't it, and frosting is like with cakes..
Who told him?
I use them interchangeably, so there's no diff to me, but I dunno.
I am baffled. I had no idea
:)
i consider icing to be like this and frosting to be like this
not sure if that's the correct terms? i suppose it's glace icing and frosting...
Same here. It's the eating part I usually focus on :)
both can be used on cakes?.
http://twitter.com/#!/TonyKanaan/status/102867324704522240
:D :D
seems i missed an eventful indycar race.
was it awful or awfully brilliant?
After posting that comment I soon realised how little information it provided and hoped no one would pick up on it ;)
it's probably me trying to think of the correct word. i think everyone says both are icing... :)
yeah, that's how I pictured it, too.
no idea. We need Erik the Baker.
*hopes his headping is tuned in*
a little bit of both.
no, we say frosting.
The race wasn't great apart from Dario's drive. He seemed to have a bigger engine than anyone else. The officiating and making the rules up to save their butts at the end was not so good
It was jawdroppingly stupid.
Actually the first half was boring with Dario lapping the field, then it got interesting and we had a race, which was spoiled and didn't really get going properly because of rain, then a stupid decision which caused a lot of damage. They are still arguing over who finished where.
Unlike F1 if a race is stopped Indycar do not count back. They declare the race order at the time of the stoppage. At the stoppage Servia was leading and Dixon second but that order existed because of a bad, bad re-start call by the officials which resulted in several cars hitting the walls as they came up to the start line for the re-start so they decided to call the result as it was before the re-start.
Ryan Hunter Reay now having his press conference
Isn't frosting made with butter, and icing made just with icing sugar?
But as far as I've been able to tell from people talking about it (and I don't know myself), there is no provision in the rules to take the result prior to the bad call restart. They have to take it at the stoppage, giving Servia the win.
We may have a winner. :)
I have no idea.
Dixon said in the press conference that today it seemed like there were no rules.
That's what Servia and Dixon said. RHR is saying that he had been told there was a crash before the line so he lifted before he ever started. But then they all would say that
just watching this replay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNTNb2-eQUA
they need to fix racing cars to run in the rain, or give up in ovals. regardless of anything else, it looks dry enough to race.
Yep. To be fair I think it was 'the right thing to do' for Race Control go back to before their own bad call. Hopefully there is a discretion clause in the rules.
RHR saying he is glad they didn't make turn one on the re-start because everyone would have crashed
They will never give up ovals and they will never race ovals in the rain
The video doesn't show the context of the restart. All the drivers and teams were saying there was light rain and the track was not ready, no driver or team said it was ok to go but they went anyway.
You can't race in the rain on an oval, ever.
to me it looks silly. if f1 pulled a red flag over that, it would be the last race i ever watched.
Wow. Madness. You're not supposed to race on an oval in the wet, it's far too dangerous...
It was wetter when they went green than when they went yellow in the first place
i asked mum and she said the same!
The rain just doesn't show up on camera. It was wet.
RHR is asking the press as many questions as they are asking him
We'll go with mum and Jeremy. :)
Jeremy wins
even the onboards look dry?
Looks like most of the drivers are supporting Will Power on Twitter at least!
all the drivers were screaming on the radio that they could not even touch the throttle because it was so wet. I was on my couch, so I don't know.
I'd like to thank my mum, and my cake addiction :)
I can eat more cake with icing, than with frosting, before feeling sick :P
At the time there was water on some of the onboards I saw. Any rain at all is too much for an oval. All the top 4 teams and all of their drivers were saying they should not go green. The only people who thought it was a good idea were the people who made the call. They didn't know what the drivers o teams had said apparently
RHR had a nice little dig at Servia there.
To him the storyline is Dario and Sato, not that Servia 'thought he led for 20 feet'.
Ouch.
the commentator says "it looks a bit moist".
i'm sure it was wet, i just can't see the point of a race metting that can't run in the wet. unless your series is gp2 asia.
:D
That is useful information to work out what is in there
That is the third time he has made a comment about 20 feet
Look at the opening 5 seconds, the water on the camera lens. Sorry but you weren't watching the race and this video doesn't show the context of how much rain had fallen up to that point. Frankly they'd taken a lot of risks running under green with the light drizzle they had for many laps.
You can't apply F1 standards to oval racing.
:D
this is what i'm asking for in f1. stuff the drivers, they're biased and can't be trusted, they all have an agenda. the pace car driver should make the call.
because the G's at this track are intense, so much so that drivers had trouble catching their breath while driving, which indicates to me that they are on the edge of traction, so if you "just add water"....
But ever driver regardless of his situation said the same. This was not Vettel saying stay yellow while Hamilton wants to race. Every driver said it was too dangerous to race and in the end three cars hit the wall before they made the start line
I'd better head off and get some sleep, night guys!
But we saw it a Korea (I think)? Vettel, leader: No it's too wet to restart. Hammilton: It's alright, let's go.
As of yet, no driver said that it should have gone green.
Night Lukeh
agreed. i didn't watch the race, partly because i can't anymore and partly because the series is a joke.
i'm simply arguing that as an observer they look silly for not being able to drive in that. fix the cars, the course, whatever. i don't really mind what, but f1 is going the same way. bit of moisture, let's call the whole thing off.
Are you reading what I type, as I type?
:)
It is amazing what you can do with sidepodcast
Brian Barnhart before the press now. In full butt coverage mode I assume
B.B. and Al Unser... This should be a barrel of laughs....
I agree that F1 is going the same way but they don't race at 220mph on banked ovals with nothing but concrete to hit if it all goes wrong, they have no excuses.
IndyCar is a joke but for different reasons.
hehe
i guess so. i saw a tweet or comment earlier that suggested the race will be run tomorrow. that's wimbledon pre-roof days, you can't treat fans like that anymore. no-one has time for delayed racing, just like no-one has time for extended red flags or safety car periods.
i may have a short attention span, but the internet gave me that and soon so will everyone else :)
Interesting that BB keeps saying no-one had said it was a bad decision to go green. Seems like unless someone stands up and screams they don't bother asking since he has not said anyone said it was the right decision
NASCAR is racing tomorrow, now that really is a stupid decision because they are at a road course. They ought to have raced today.
Nothing will ever convince me that racing on an oval in the rain is a good idea, I don't care what your attention span is.
fair enough. i have made a mental note not to watch ovals.
f1 would've raced in the rain at indy years ago though wouldn't it?
...or indycar.
There certainly seems to be a BIG disconnect between the pit-techs and the pit wall. Mikey A. was on TV complaining about going green, BEFORE they went green.
interesting point by BB, that Johnny Rutherford (pace car driver) had nothing to say about the conditions.
They did do, but they only used one corner.
Yes but F1 was not doing 220mph on a short oval
It sounds like he didn't ask any of these people but just assumed because they were not complaining then everything was OK
Yeah, I can see that. B.B. "The buck gets passed here!"
the icing sugar attacked me :( i feel for you mr c.. silly icing sugar.
BB just admitted making up the rules on the fly
Icing sugar can be dangerous?
erm... argh i can't remember what happened with icing sugar?
pretty sure you inhaled some :)
I remember the icing being very watery. Was it the icing sugar you sniffed or was that something else?
ooooh, yes!
yeah it can, sadly. mum's handwisk only has one mode cause it's a bit broken, and that mode is super fast. the result was icing sugar all over me.
Is it a Jeremy CLarkson whisk
yes, very much so..
@Dale_Nixon
by toomuchracing
No formal commun was given to a pit observer expressing distress at restart. Thus owners+drivers were talking amongst themselves
So they need to get their communication together.
The owner guy is happy as a clam now because he loves the controversy. Great. So now we know where it's coming from. Laughing about WIll Power and his gesture.
in the presser
It doesn't need this kind of exposure, looking like a fool. Do you think that Air France or Airbus likes the "buzz" about AF477? Exxon and Valdez?
Gotta love the spin!
he hopes there's no fine for Power, it's not like he hit anyone. He thinks it elevates the level of passion and emotion for the sport.
