Nín hǎo*! It's the first time that I have been invited to write a daily for Sidepodcast.
Great things happened yesterday, mostly Amy-related. She celebrated her birthday and AirAsia Australia got her a wonderful present**, they invited her to the Korean Grand Prix to report on Lotus' doings. Amy is the biggest Lotus uber-fan I've ever seen; she thoroughly deserves the adventure after defeating some strong opposition.
Razzmatazz accompanied a US Grand Prix press conference, which happened on Tuesday but was still dominating F1-related talk yesterday. MotoGP will be visiting the track from 2013, meaning F1 won't be the only major international race at the Circuit of the Americas.
A new season of British F3 is nearly here and Leigh's been previewing it – the second part appeared yesterday and it's very good reading.
New face on Twitter; cheery three-time F1 race winner Johnny Herbert has joined the social network and is still getting used to how popular he is.
Perhaps I have forgotten something? Oh yes, there's a race weekend in China with practise starting on Friday^. Even the Force India counter agrees for once.
Remember Bahrain? They still want an F1 race this year – if they can sort out the politics in time.
Epic performances from Sebastian Vettel have convinced Fernando Alonso that he has no chance of winning at the moment; not exactly the greatest of omens for race excitement, but we live in hope.
Many people are currently debating the utility of the adjustable rear wing. With the FIA deciding to start the DRS zone halfway down the back straight in China, we may finally get a conclusive answer... ...if it doesn't rain in the race.
India's next generation is getting the chance to have its talent discovered through a three-stage tournament devised by Force India called “One From a Billion”. It will happen every 2 years and is open to 14-17-year-olds. Both of India's F1 drivers are from Tamil Nadu, so hopefully the 7 locations for the regional heats> should help spread motorsport participation and awareness.
Oh, and spare a thought for Stuart C, who's currently at the Rally Jordan waiting for the racing to start. Nothing's happened today (which should have been the first day) because the service park hasn't fully arrived yet.
Distractions don't get much bigger than That Could Be My Next Tweet. The results were sometimes revealing, occasionally strange but mostly pretty hilarious.
Exercise is becoming a popular topic at Sidepodcast – Rubbergoat's been running and Christine's road running campaign continues apace. Makes me feel a bit lazy...
Linguistic practise for everyone: Spanish Wednesday is here, with Fernando fun to try translating.
Looks like Jordan F1 is planning an essay on the subject of F1 faring badly in the USA. Should be a good read when it's ready.
Apparently Sidepodders' significance as Internet racing experts cannot be overestimated ;)
Census forms in the UK have been getting posted to the people who process these things with a whole variety of unexpected property included...
Helping the #mfc revolution is the new idea from Zinio of making magazines that have audio, video, movement and work on every device... ...except dead trees.
I thought it was only racing drivers who were supposed to pilot badly and hit stuff...
* - “Nín hǎo” is the phonetic transliteration of the Simplified Chinese for “hello”.
** - Embargoed initially, leading to possibly the most excitement I've ever seen on Sidepodcast^^. The Sidepodcommunity is a very supportive one :)
^ - Since the last two links go to Viva F1, now is a good time to also read Leigh's guest post there on the subject of “Prince Bira”.
^^ - Everyone's mileage may vary, my views may not represent the totality of the community, etc.
Finally, the letters I've emboldened at the start of each paragraph spell something. Can anyone guess what it is?
See you in the Daily, Sidepodders!
ooh awesome daily!
Thank you, Amy
Oooohh lot's of linkables
:)
Love the daily Alia, such an in depth effort :D
Lots to keep us busy for today!
Nice daily Ali, but I'm not Pat
;)
Oops, sorry!
...although I have wondered what it'd be like to be Pat for a day
:D
Is it bad that I saw the capital A there and read Air Asia :P
#uberfan
Well we were talking about it a lot yesterday...
A lot of the links are to the points yesterday where they were discussed, and also I tried to follow the good example of everyone else who's posted up to now to try to summarise the state of the Sidepodnation and assorted other things.
It certainly kept me out of mischief for a couple of hours ;)
I can now safely say that it is less than eight months until my birthday - and I think that is a cause for celebration
:)
After looking at schedules it appears that KL to Seoul is roughly a 6 hour flight. Melbourne to Mokpo is going to be a looooong trip :D
Right folks,
Sleep calls - good night
:)
Have you seen these recent posts on sidepodcast.com?

You don't have to go
:D
Looking at the flights has me all confused because it looks like there'll be quite a wait in KL as well between flights as all the Seoul ones take off before the Melbourne ones land. I'm sure once they send me the details I'll have a clearer picture :)
I've just realised I won't be able to watch any of the BBC coverage this weekend because my internet is about to be capped :(
Capping should be banned
BOOOOO?! When is it non-capped??
our ISP is awful, once you breach your on-peak data allowance they restrict your speed 24/7 to 64kps. Our old ISP would let you keep your full speed off-peak data and would only restrict you to 1mbps so the internet was more than useable. 64kps is a joke, no point even trying to use the internet when its that slow
My flatmate downloaded a 10gb HD movie file and used up 20% of our onpeak data in one day :(
not til the 21st
Errrrrm why would you move??
I might ring the ISP and see if they'll give us a one off data upgrade as a goodwill gesture, most of them seem to if you just ask, and if you don't try and do it every month. We've never come close to going over it before so that might help my cause.
because our old ISP was our neighbours connection and they were ripping us off by making our flat pay almost all of the bills. When we got our own connection we couldnt go with the same ISP as they had no more capacity in our neighbourhood to connect new customers to the exchange.
Selfish
he was all proud of himself, demonstrating his awesome tv, I was not impressed. I told him in future he can download anything he wants, as long as he gets files that big between midnight and noon :)
For goodness sake, what kind of backwards system is this :P
one where one company with rubbish broadband plans has a monopoly over all the exchanges and resells capacity to the better ISPs but restricts the number of customers they can have :(
I wonder if my neighbours have changed their password since we stopped using their service. I also wonder if I have that password written down anywhere. Hmm.
That's low.... :D
Does your computer not have it so that it would automatically log on
desperate times, desperate measures :D
it did but I've since wiped my computer and started fresh. My PSP might still have the settings in it because I haven't used it in months.
Presumably that's been turned off since they stopped using it. It'll need the password again.
christine will tell me i should be doing something more productive... but hey, i made a helmet: http://sidepodcast.posterous.com/a-helmet
All grey? How did you make it?
looks productive to me :)
can't say yet, am thinking about exciting new things. it might be beyond our abilities, in which case i'll blog the failed attempt. if it works out... well you'll see.
Stretching your capabilities is always good
Produced a helmet. That's productive
:)
The secret message is GRAN PREMIO DELL CHINESE, which I am guessing is Spanish for Chinese Grand Prix, as it looks Italian, but I know it is not Italian as there is not enough vowels ending a word. Nor it is French, so as my "romantic" languages go, that leaves Spanish....
Bah, you just copied my secret message idea from way back, with your original twist of using a foreign language. I know this as I swiped RG's brackety idea and tossed in a secret message when read vertically.
Nope, Spanish for that is "Gran Premio de China (pronounced "cheenah")
Try it again. The words for Grand Prix are dead on. Check the Spanish for Chinese as adjective as in "Chinese people" not the phase "of China". Dell is one of those words in Spanish that will have multiple spellings based on the correct grammatical case.....
Alinora's too smart to screw up the correct grammar.....
The phrase in Italian is "grande premio di cinese." Your call.
The first two words are correct in Spanish. It follows that the last two words are also in Spanish. now we just need an extact translation.
Basically, I think the word DELL means "of the" just like "De", "d'" or "De la" all mean "of the" in French, with the different spellings influenced by the differnent cases of the noun - mas, fem, of the next word starting with a vowel. English does not have this type of grammar except for ships and boats "she" or "her" even though it might have a male name.
The direct English translation would be "Grand Prix of the Chinese"
My only qualifications are having S.American parents. You're right about the 1st two words. But there's no "dell" in Spanish, just 'del,' nor is there "Chinese", just "chino." But, you might be right that it's INTENDED Spanish ... just bad Spanish. Andale, Andale!
My limited French is Quebecor French. Great for getting around Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal but the people in Paris, France would think that I was speaking some Africian language like Zulu.....
But like I said, it is not French, you proved it is not Italian, there's two words right in Spanish, and we are not currently pushing Portuguese in Sidepodcastland at the moment, what is left besides Latin ?
hmmmmmmm.
Nope. Not Latin. Maybe it is Basque Spanish or Catalunyian Spanish or something weird....it that....
It should be proper Spanish.....
What is left might be just to decide that whoever wrote the phrase is semi-literate in the language. Or maybe it's Esperanto, which I know zero about. Gee, I wish we had a NASCAR fan in on this to set us straight! ;-)
For what it's worth, here's the Portugese: grande prêmio do chinês. BTW, I'm no language expert, just a humble user of freetranslation.com
I like the idea that Ali just held down the "l" key a little bit too long.... The Chinese could be explained away that "Chinco" is pretty racist word to use against the Chinese in English. The word "Chinco" use to fly at asians when I was going up.
Well, that has been decyphered to death... I think I will shut down the Tundraland Electronic Intelligence Gathering Station for the night....
Sleep well. Best wishes from Boston.
Go BoSox. Death to the (B)ruins!
Oblivious to stix and balls here. If it's not played at 4.5 g's, it don't matter to me!
looks like a helmet to me ;)
ipad hdmi output is now mine! Picked up a matte screen protector while i was at it. Now comes the terrifying moment of trying to apply it perfectly
I am totally mentally deformed by the F1 Lotus saga. I am discussing with client some details about lotus flower design, I realized that every lotus in the whole conversation I typed with capital "L" ...
Awesome Daily Alianora! Really great stuff. I have no idea on the message but it sounds Spanish to me :)
epic daily! :-)
first attempt was not perfect. Thankfully there is two in the pack!

Morning all. Seems like some cunning linguists have been at play overnight.
Alia, your daily rocks!
Hmm?
I hate applying those things, and they are awful to the touch too. Sadly necessary though!
Morning,
Are you going to have a ceremonial start and then stop this morning?
I always get them to do that in the shop!
Abu Dhabi took Bernie's sprinkler idea way too far http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2011/01/110118-abu-dhabi-desert-rain-cloud-seeding-controversy/

Speaking of US stuff, someone was talking about this oval the other day.
It looks completly mad, i really want to go

I dont think i have that keyword!
What sort of page was it on and where did it go?
It was on Theater Hopper on a review for a Disney movie called 'tangled'
It went here: http://www.veinsbook.com/
Very random!
this link should come with "image can possibly cause nightmares" warning
That is frikkin weird

"With the FIA deciding to start the DRS zone halfway down the back straight in China, we may finally get a conclusive answer..."
But there's always overtaking at the end of the back straight, how will we know if it's because of DRS or not? :-)
Suber Extra Bonus props to George from OilPressure for this interview with Randy Bernard.

I had to stop reading his site because the layout scews up my eyes :(
Exactly. DRS should work "too well" here I think...
I always copy his text onto a text sheet, but I know what you mean
:)
bbq coma. And the ribs are still cooking!
Why not start it at the beginning of the straight just after the cars get to a decent speed? Shut it off halfway down, give the other guy a chance to re-pass into the corner under braking
Read part one last night, very good.
Webber gets asked a silly question: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90684
"Absolutely f****** ludicrous question mate!"
I thought they'd want to improve overtaking into Turn 1 (cynically, if only because the main stands are there!)
The reporter going out of his way to set Mark off? Maybe Webber will win now?
Will take that as a no
Hope so. If things keep going as they are it's going to be very tough for Red Bull not to back Vettel only!
Blimey.

Abu Dhabi look like they are getting a WRC Rally http://sport360.com/component/content/article/102/86911
Brummm Brummm
Only 12? Used to be 14. Jordan out, Australia out, Italy out. They've got 20-25 rallies for only 12 spots, crazy.
And the stupid part is most of the new rallies are replacing the classic ones..
Also I must be tired because I just tried to look up a company in our accounts software using the code 'Abu' rather than 'Tul'..
At least they are vaguely like-for-like geographically I suppose. UAE for Jordan. NZ instead of Aus (rotation?).
Why dont they do more? not nececarily 20-25 but 16-18?
It was supposed to be "GRAN PREMIO DELLA CHINESE", which is Italian for Chinese Grand Prix, but the "A" paragraph got trimmed. Well reasoned out, Jordan F1 :)
Wha? I'll check.
DELL' is slang for DELLA though?
The main rally here at the moment, the desert Challenge was moved a couple of years ago, in preperation for this i think.
It used to be the major shakedown for the Dakar, but now it takes place in april so it is a lot more low key
But that's silly. The whole point of having both NZ & Aus on the calendar is that it makes a trip down under more cost effective...
Ah sorry. Had to go through and add quote marks to every link and I missed one out so the paragraph disappeared. Should be there now.
It would have been amazing if it was either because I've not studied either variant of Spanish yet ;)
Thank you for that. Next time I'll try to remember to apply them before I submit because trying to quote all the links in the state I submitted the Daily must have been a pain in the neck...
I didn't know that - my classes haven't got that far into colloquial grammar...
Fantastic effort though! Molto Bene!
I saw last week that there were rumours of Monte Carlo getting back on the WRC in the next couple of years - would be ace if it happens
Ah I see. Have they talked about stages they'd use, anything good? Presumably it has run a candidate rally or will do.
Thank you :)
Some nice insight from Joe
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/lap-charts/
Yeah, really good Daily :)
I think some of the linguists at play in the comments are more cunning than the linguist who set the challenge :D
What are you guys talking about?
There's a message hidden in the Daily, which the Sidepodcommunity has decoded :)
Ah that of course!
I remember reading that they were supposed to have one, not sure when though.
I think it will be run out of yas, as they did with the DC this year
This wouldn't be the latest version of the silly biennial rotation system, by any chance?
Whoha!
Try explaining this when you get home: http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/13078895
A 20-year-old has written off his dad's £275,000 Gumpert Apollo after taking it for a spin in Germany. After the crash the driver's door ended up 100ft (30m) away and the car was described as a "total loss".
The blowtorch didn't work as I imagined.
I would blame tweetdeck
Hehehe.
Police are investigating whether he was speeding when he lost control of the car on the 50mph road.
I'm gonna say yes.
:D
He could always say "well at least you don't have to buy any expensive wine anymore"... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13072745
I only said to blow the bloody door off!
Excellent, I've never seen a handwritten one before although some series now release PDFs of the electronic timing.
In the 60s and 70s the F1 drivers wives or girlfriends would sit on the pitwall and do the lapchart, with the team boss relying on it. There were even occasions when they corrected the official timekeepers when they'd got lost (also doing it largely manually). Seem to remember reading that Helen Stewart (Mrs JYS) was always very good at it.
I'd do it in Excel on a netbook personally.
Although after 5 laps I'd be lost.
Wow!
I downloaded the ones from the FIA but they aren't that detailed.
Incidentally I think I filled the gap of the FIA documents from 2010, so I now have all of the 2009-2010 FIA documents if anyone's interested...
I would struggle with a lot of it, but most particularly the being able to recognise cars instantly :)
That's it exactly. :) And also keeping up when 7 or 8 cars are close together. And all the pitstops now!
Yes please :)
I dont think I could do something like that as quick at uni i took digital notes for a while, i couldnt keep up either typing random notes or using a stylus on a touch screen
I do a paper-based "incident report" for each race but would find lap-charting a tad tricky given the awful camera direction on TV these days. If I was at a race I think I'd cope.
wow
I can't tell two different cars apart, let alone two team mates!
Woah! Perez's car was stopped by a lump of ballast(!) from another car.
"It was a very dangerous situation because it came into the computer software box and it stopped just before my seat."
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/90681
Doesn't Tim Gray keep one at Le Mans? That must be mad.
He is mad though ;)
Ballast is supposed to be securely fixed onto the car. Had this been revealed earlier, would Toro Rosso have faced a fine?
yes, read that earlier, that is quite ridiculous. I am surprised FIA is not investigating this deeper (or at least they keep silent about that if they do). heavy chunks of anything should not be flying around ...
At a guess, the FIA is preoccupied with tinkering with DRS...
Especially after what happened to Massa...
can't believe I am yet again still in the office at this hour ... have to do something to kick this nasty habit ...
I wonder if anyone who finished was underweight?
maybe it fell off petrov?
I do mine on text programme on the mac. I've got each driver down to three letter abbreviation that i can note quickly and a load of code words and phrases that help me along mid race.
He said this on Sunday just after he retired - surprised more wasn't made of it
It was Buemi
No official protest?
ouch
Was he underweight? How come they didnt mention him in the article?
If any of the cars were underweight, that would have been mentioned separately.
None at all.
I assume he passed if nowt was said
I couldn't do this and watch the race too!
outside the points - probably wasn't weighed
don't you have to watch it to do it? :-)
I type without taking my eyes off the screen. BF3 also produce pdf lapcharts, so I will be somewhat helped this weekend
I think one of the STRs pitted to DNF, near to when Perez stopped, was that Buemi?
I do prefer watching, typing does not help :-) that's why I rarely even comment or tweet during the race.
Both finished down in 13th (Buemi) and 14th (Jaime)
My mate from Trinidad couldn't get used to the stream here when he joined for the Aussie GP.
aye - i always switch off twitter and the comments about 5 minutes before lights out

I don't think the two force indias which benefitted from sauber's dsq in melbourne went through post-race scrutineering
Both Toro Rossos were weighed post-race according to the FIA's Malaysian race report. All other finishers were also weighed.
maybe they picked up more marbles on the way back, loads and loads available :-)
They went through scrutineering, but to a limited level of detail. There's one level of scrutiny imposed on all finishers, another on those finishing in the top 10 and a third level of random "spot checks" on a proportion of the top 10 and/or cars which were particularly suspicious.
Possible. It was said that the Pirellis are not so good at picking up marbles as the Bridgestones but I bet it's still possible to some extent.

Hehehee
Ooooh!!
I think I may manage to avoid that...
The original Scream was on TV last night, but the TV guide had the time wrong. This physical TV business is so confusing.
cinema was full of talkers. And by full i mean there was about 20 people at the 8.30 screening on opening day. Maybe not as popular as i thought it would be :)
Interesting titbit from Petrov:
http://formulaone.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/14/vitaly-petrov-describes-crash-in-malaysia/
i have strong desire to now watch 1-3 back to back
iTunes only has 2 and 3, which is not annoying at all.
Oooh is this another reason why the visors have been strengthened?
We used to have marbles all the time though?
My iTunes has no TV or movies :(
Not at the size they are now.
Yeah those are chunks!
:)
The flip cam is dead. http://stuffmideast.com/2011/04/14/112800/the-flip-cam-is-dead-long-live-flip/
Well that was short lived
Maybe not as popular as the directors thought it would be either!
Ouch!
They were typically smaller and therefore had less force on impact...
I can confirm my neighbours have changed their wifi password, why do people make it so hard for me to steal from them.

Oh dear. Mike Gascoyne:
Taxi jorney from airport in china, driver totally lost and after one hour we directed him back to airport, 2 hours in now, no chance. We leave hotel for circuit in 6 hours, 50/50 if we make it to hotel before then
Doesnt sound like a happy bunny at all
F1 really gets on with china doesn't it? :)
They don't seem to make it easy on our F1 peeps!
It gets on better with it than I do with F1 being in China...
I think China is the only grand prix I reeeallly wouldn't want to go to in all honesty... not a fan of the circuit, sounds like an absolute nightmare to get into and I don't want to sink into the ground.
Although if free tickets did come up... :)
Thanks to visas, I can't go...
Why not? Surely you can just apply for one?
Mike: Driver pushing on now, just means we miss the correct exit quickly rather than slowly
Shouldn't laugh.
It'll be a cruel, cruel fate if the taxi's hydraulics fall fowl now.
There's a list of categories of people who are automatically barred from getting a visa. I'm in one of those categories.
I should emphasise that in my case it only appears to apply for China and Kenya.
oh dear!
I like hong kong, i wouldnt mind checking out shanghai but if i was going that way japan would probably be higher up my list
Heh. Driver change required..

They do indeed. Is that bad?
Not at all, it's just kind of randomly struck me that they do. I'm writing a tardis relating blog post and suddenly my mind turned a switch and went 'Wait, Bill and Ted have a phone box too!!!
....woah.'
Oh boy
Its normally pretty good, i have a chineese sat nav i bought for 30 quid. It knows more strees here than a garmin! I dont really use though, just as a back up in the desert
Oooh, I see!
Theirs isn't as good, bit more phoneboxy than the TARDIS. Although, they could have done with it being bigger on the inside when they were transporting all those people.
A nicely comprehensive list!
Having seen HGV drivers using GPS to try to get down a road that's barely single-file, I remain slightly dubious about its utility in the absence of a driver with a reasonable amount of intelligence and common sense - which you probably have but Mike Gascoyne's driver probably does not.

Had to laugh at Silvi's tweet about her driver earning a week's worth of weaving penalties...
Silver markings on the options per tweet from Virgin:
Apparently there's a shortage of gold bands so look out for silver on the options this weekend #F1 yfrog.com/hswcbxoj

Question.. 'We Will Rock You''... any good? I've been asked if I want to go to Southampton next week and I'm not sure I do.
Mum saw it a few weeks ago in Cardiff and absolutely loved it.
If you like Queen songs, then yes yes yes.
Ah, that's a yes then. :)
It would be with Dad plus Stepmum and probably some of their friends., I'm going over there in about 5 minutes so I'll find out more..
Cheers. :)
I mean, I have seen it more times than is healthy so am biased, but everyone I know who has seen it has liked it, so it's worth going.
Ahh I thought it might've been the one you saw. :)
I'm really really not into musicals though.
Mr C isn't either and he sat through each of the five times with me so it can't be that bad. He was a bit sick of it by the end, I'll admit :)

Long Beach looks nice. :)
Neither am I, but I liked Phantom of the Opera. And I can't watch that as a film...
Haha :) I'm sure I can manage the once then
Oddworld PING! http://toata.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/177-the-joy-of-ordering-sneaking-and-farting/
Off to drop in a present and find out more about the show then, see you later. :)
black&yellow is the 4music. it's a real song!
*is on, on 4music.
Personally I think green and yellow is the real song and that is a parody ;)
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiii :)
Mike's Taxi Update: it stopped for fuel but the petrol station was shut!
am just catching up. that sure is some journey.
true story
evening.
Have you seen these recent posts on sidepodcast.com?
- Daily: 14th April 2011
- China 2011 - Race information
- Amy wins the AirAsia Uber Fan competition - Korea here we come!
- Spanish Wednesday: 13th April 2011

Also, it appears the taxi driver was sacked around an hour ago.
What!!
Another update: Mike's spotted that the place his hotel's in is only 3 km away but isn't sure whether the driver's done likewise.
I guess his ex-boss is a little bit better acquainted with Western expectations than he is.
I don't even know what to think anymore O.O
loves this:
A colleague of mine in the Indian media feels that Mallya simply wants to use the team to establish himself as the man who brought F1 to India and that he is not really that interested beyond that. In short he is suggesting that it is just a great big ego trip.
sounds about right.
Even Joe admits that he isn't sure whether the colleague is right or wrong.
Mike's Taxi Update: He's finally arrived at the hotel 4 hours after he started. Fate of the taxi driver (apart from aforementioned sacking) unknown.

Ha!
I am concerned about Source Code having the most annoying ending ever.
surely it can't be worse than lost and it isn't 6 years long.
It's worth watching anyways.I've just never been so wound up about something in a film for so long :)
Although I can never spell the main guy in it. jake Gylehenhal? Gylenhall? Actors need less confusing names.
Evening all.
Have I missed anything exciting today?
Hey steven, you missed Mike Gascoyne and the taxi drive from hell!

I saw the last couple of comments on it
Hey guys,
is the free account of typekit actually free?
It is.
So they plan to improve on the improvements. That's good to see
Supposedly. I can't work out how to activate it at all.
I spent an entire day on it and it was awful.
not sure what they mean by taking them apart, lapel mics are the size of a pencil-rubber.
looks like the end of spotify:
From May 1, Spotify users in the UK and Ireland who signed up to the service before November 1 last year will only be able to play individual tracks for free up to a maximum of five times a month.
brand new customers only.
Done. Blog theme changed: http://f1numbers.wordpress.com/
There can't be much they can modify in there
FIVE??
Looks good.
yup.
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitaltv/news/a314612/spotify-to-cut-back-free-music-allowance.html
Looks great gavin!
yeeesh, stoopidfy.
Thanks! Was getting sick of the small fonts and the stupidly thin width allocated to titles. This theme can be customised and it hasn't broken my old posts, so all good !
:)
hehehehe
The font is the one thing on my theme I don't like, but after the Squarespace debacle, I decided I can live with it!
I think mine is OK - it's clear and not silly looking?
Looks great to me.
awesome. Thanks for the feedback :)
Question: does anyone know when/if Vettel turned his KERS on again after lap 29 in malaysia?
He did use it but I don't know when. He was told it had a problem at the start of the race and he had a problem with it at the end of the race but somewhere in the middle it worked for a short time.
He was told not to use it on lap 29.
"Little ping, Little ping, let me IN!"
Stuart C is hard at work ;)
Hello again.
Looking good, I like the increased text size.
Saw that on the BBC News site earlier, stupid stupid. I wasn't planning on paying (mind you the iPad app only works if you have a paid Spotify a/c).
:)
I guess this weekend's track walk on the BBC is Jock and Nico

#rankings points for webber?

Hehehehe!
Hehehe.
This is almost worth boycotting the Grand Prix over
http://business.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/14/china-bans-time-travel-for-television/?hpt=C2
WHAT!
That is criminal, but the sarcastic and dry examples in the article is brilliant :)
He is just a loony :)
"...fantasy, time-travel, random compilations of mythical stories, bizarre plots, absurd techniques, even propagating feudal superstitions, fatalism and reincarnation, ambiguous moral lessons, and a lack of positive thinking."
Pretty much describes the whole of LOST in one sentence there.
:) :)
:D
They could at least ban soaps or something.
:)
aah, he's back..
http://yfrog.com/h7etikbj
would love to see Chinese Dr Who though. They go into the tardis, run around, everything shakes a little bit and they could out in the exact same place they went in from but a whole minute forward in the future!
I imagine it would get boring though, they'd end up just wandering around shops waiting several decades or centuries for something to happen until Series 68 and something actually does happen seeing as by then real time has reached 2056
I wonder who the first person to call him an idiot will be
I'm kinda glad the Chinese aren't inspired to make time travel!
Doctor Hu?
He'll be the first to start calling people idiots
I worked with a Chinese woman called Dr Hu... while at a conference, the joke was totally lost on her when I insisted on taking a picture of her with the blue police box that is in Glasgow
It would be like watching any recent US drama, where only one thing happens in the episode and they stretch it over an hour
:D
:D
haha!
Legend
I'm so glad I took a different route home tonight - there is a church on my normal route that was used today for the christening of the royal twins and I can see on TV tonight that the whole part of town where it was was blocked. It was a 2km detour but it was nice and so worth it!

Bet Ferrari are glad they renamed their chassis now :-)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13085215
Although maybe Massa wished his was recalled
Gordon Ramsay will be the Grand Marshal at the Long Beach Grand Prix.
"Start your ******* engines, yes?"
RT @GordonRamsay01: So excited for the Long Beach Grand Prix this coming Sunday ! Maybe I've missed my calling ! @ToyotaGPLB
I think Ferrari are more or less recalling their car and working on a massive upgade
:D :D
(moves hands in time with each syllable)
That was announced a week or two ago. I can imagine the reaction of the American media should he let rip
Ping: http://www.f1bigpicture.com/news/down-to-earth
I want it noted, for the record, that Mr C requested this picture, not me.
I had no objections, of course.
sheeeee's loverly.
The naughty words in China are flying already. Mark Webber has said the F-word to a reporter. Things've really gotten under his skin, it seems.
Hahhahahaaa!

Evening all.
Long day here!
Considerably enlivened by an Amstel and an apple-flavoured bong thing
Hey Stuart, hey all.
Evening lou and stuart. How are you guys?
okay thanks. just cooking tea before i head out for my shoot tonight in the park.
Been on the go since 6am (4am your time) so about to call it a day.
Ooooh. Where in the park? Not that I'm anywhere near the area of course.
Ugh. There's a mozzie somewhere in the room.
Tried the local hookah I see? ;)
Glad to see they've finally made a start to the event, even if there's been no competitive mileage yet.
That's understandable. Have a good night :)
I think that when travelling one has to absorb the local customs...
Imagine the difficulties the TV people had producing a show with the footage they had!
Anyway, the bed calls. Early-ish start tomorrow. Audi-os...
I assumed the nightly update would be cancelled!
Have a good one
Night Stuart!
I've been categorically forbidden from watching first practise, and will also have to miss the last part of the second. Sorry.
Just seen this great vid from the Falken Tyre Porsche team about Sebring: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_FqAMyNOkA
Hectic stuff in Jordan
http://wrc.com/news/jordan-rally-service-park-takes-shape-overnight/?fid=14511
Good evening folks
am only able to watch fp2 too.
That's very good, stuff like that makes me want to own a GT team. :)
Great to see Walker back in racing
Evening
I'll miss both, I have a meeting which I am in early for tomorrow :(
A quick reminder for TMRG players.. http://toomuchracing.com/2011/04/12/tmr-game-2011-week-12/
I'll miss all 3 FP sessions.
Is this Silly O'Clock Trouble kicking in?
It just occurred to me (after I actually checked the times..) that FP2 is at the same time as it was for Malaysia, there's time to watch it before work if I can wake up.
Awesome.
RT @jbleekemolen Just landed in LA. Did the landing from the cockpit in a 747, thanks KLM! http://twitpic.com/4kum71
a quick plug for formula austin, who's plugging everyone in this post: http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/racing/entries/2011/04/14/reading_the_chinese_grand_prix.html
nah, early work start, early night.
Ah, OK.
Same here, start work at half 8 so just FP2 for me
On the plus side it'll mean I'm actually awake by the time I get to work ;)
me too!
Haha, same, I hope :)
Took so long to wake up today, not even sure I did.
PING: Vettel Wins Malaysia After Losing KERS http://f1numbers.wordpress.com/2011/04/14/vettel-wins-malaysia-after-losing-kers/
Oh wow.
@Fieldof33/@MoreFrontWing:
2011 Indianapolis 500 Entry List has 42 entries (83 cars) w/4 former winners, 4 @IndyCar champions, and 5 rookies. Most entries since 2002.
Damn, someone's game entry from last week was hiding in the spam bin, and it looks like Gavin's crown may have to be taken away..
Disaster!
They are playing the black and yellow song in the pub!
Green & yellow, Green & yellow, Green & yellow,
:D
tomorrow's daily a la finito!
Well done :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxTUd86Fmpk
Yay!
I so danced to that song :D
Too much drink or not enough!
Evening...
The Cake is on its way...
Awww.
Hi Alex, there's cake?
I can be there in 10
This is wonderful :)
The cake is a lie!
#geekyjoke
:D
The Cake's not here... It's on it's way to Alianora!
:)
*huuuugs*
I have advised my parents that it is coming so that they are not shocked by the arrival of the parcel...
Good evening everyone. :)
Good evening!
Great daily, Alia, and I'm glad you're getting cake for it.
Hiya Kai. How are you?
Thank you :)
Very good! The sun is out, it's warmish, and I'm happy.
Sounds like a plan... Nobody wants to be shocked by cake :)
Hello Kai
Possibly is the pleasantest shock there could be though.
Hi.
I am working on that piece
*wink*
Giant comedic *wink*
It is provided my parents know that I didn't go online shopping for it (hence why I explained the situation to them earlier to avoid potential tellings-off).
Yes... OOooh is this Cake all for me????
Note to self - stop playing dramatic movie pieces on ipod when walking about the house. Mum wondered what on earth was going on as I grabbed the biscuit tin in slow motion as the john murphy track playing during the strobe lightning bit of Kick Bum came on.
Indeed!
Heheheh!
totally worth it though, I may add, and I saved the biscuits from impending doom.
:D
:D Did you re-endanger the biscuits by eating some afterwards?
did you swap the biscuit with a coaster of an equal weight?
....damn.
Biscuits, you served us all well.
:D
Hah, brilliant :)
So say we all.
Oh, wait, that's something else.
I never think of buying soundtracks. I should.
Am an absolute sucker for film soundtracks. I know I've enjoyed a film if I remember the music from it which is a bit wierd I suppose, as you'd thonk the on screen stuff would be more important!
The TRON legacy soundtrack was the last I got
I love Daft Punk
:D
#portalisawesome
Can't believe the second one is out next week. Have been waiting soooooooooooooooo long for it!!
Not that I can afford it :)
One of my students had a Daft Punk t-shirt on the other day and for a second I was like :0, but then I remembered Tron and I calmed down.
#LostInIgnorance
It's a modern version of pacman ;)
Thanks. I remeber something about a link now
I'll have a blog post up in a minute. Something I used to do a while ago.
Same
Is RG here?
Morning all! I was waiting for the 15th to tick over but I have too much work to do to stay :(
Stupid work stopping me from watchign practice. And I gotta say, Mike and Silvi really don't sell China to me as a place to go :D Not that I ever planned on going there anyway
Mike Gascoyne is up already
Off to circuit after 3 hours sleep, what can possibly go wrong.......
