Hello everyone! It’s Sunday! I’m expecting the daily to be pretty quiet today given the amount of sport that continues over the second day of our weekend. No doubt there’ll be a thread for today’s world cup action, I’m not going to pretend I’m personally very interested in the Football but if you are there is of course a very lively place to live comment it. If you’re like me and not a fan of the football you’ll be searching for alternative sports or links to keep you interested and entertained, and that’s my job today. Let’s get on with the bullet points;
- The famous and rather epic Le Mans 24 hour race continues today, live commenting for the first part of the race can be found here and I’m sure a thread for the second half of the race will pop up at one point too. If you haven’t had the chance to check the driver snaps section on the autosport site then I really recommend it, it provides a great glimpse into the life of the drivers throughout the duration of the event. Plenty of photos of Ant and Franck too! :)
- On the topic of motorsport, the Formula 1 circus is in Canada at the moment with today’s race starting at 12pm local time, which is 5pm in the UK. The later race time makes a nice change for many of us, I’ll be making the most of the time I have to revise but I’m sure many of you will be doing something a lot more interesting. How does the later start affect you? Qualifying yesterday was important for lots of different reasons but the main being that we were given our first non Red Bull pole of the season. A Red Bull slip up or have McLaren made significant improvements? Everyone seems very excited for the race tomorrow (including Jake Humphrey) let’s hope it’s a good one!
- Oh and one quick mention for Jenson’s fund raising page for the London Triathlon too. it’s such a good cause, I’ll be donating soon, come on everyone I’m sure Sidepodcast can help him boast his current total!
- I wanted to mention the Lotus racing notes. They are a great read and act as a little emagazine preview to the weekend, with a great Heikki interview and even a photo of Catherine I can’t help thinking the team want Amy’s support! It’s certainly a great little addition to their website and I would love to encourage more teams to produce such publications.
That’s about it for me I’m afraid, I must dash off and revise some more. I would like finish the daily by wishing everyone who is currently taking exams the best of luck, whether they be GCSEs, A levels or anything else. Good luck to everyone, don’t worry, they’ll be over soon!
I sense my poor daily is going to be neglected today :( silly football.
tis a lovely daily lou, and the main footy game has passed until friday.
i will need to detox from sport between le mans and f1. and then sleep very early on sunday night. today has been hard work.
Its only Slovenia v Algeria (and a few others) I doubt many will be... enthralled by it. Especially with Le Mans
sport has been the perfect detox for me after a week of very hard work. loving all the sport on display this weekend. :)
morning, folks.
what time are the matches on rg?
hey big j.
:D I heard you guys ended up with a draw? 4 draws in 6 matches... Hmmm.
Same as today I think, 12:30, 3:00 and 7:30
same times as yesterday, i suspect?
No more than 2 goals in a match, from 5 games I find that interesting.
ahh, didn't realise it was consistent. ace.
risk-averse football
ah that is good news. FP seemed a bit manic today with all the live commenting of everything. very cool but very manic. Without the f1 i think i might have felt a bit lost.
I was quite confused at times, but used Le Mans as an anchor
realtime is as good as useless at the moment. it's got to be lclt of ye old. my head would go *boom* otherwise.
thought the site was struggling earlier, but it was just a mediatemple glitch.
then again that's probably a very good thing, i'm trying to step back a bit from the internet.. so i can use my non revision time more effectively for things like.. sleep :)
believe it or not, i've been using realtime all weekend. it's been pretty good, actually. :)
Good evening,
I'm guessing Lady Snowcat has kept you updated on Kimi's rally today?
I thought WRC was on break?
too much noise, no? maybe it's something my head can't fathom, but it did my head in after 10mins yesterday.
I used 3 lclt tabs earlier, so much easier than scrolling up to the top, changing tab, post comment, scroll to the top etc.
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with a foam-based emergency??? I have just found a 500ml bottle of shampoo that's leaked all over the carpet :S
There is a rally as well? Do sports bodies not consult each other?
that's the best way i think.
I missed rugby league earlier too, wasn't happy
He and Ogier took part in a national one day event in Italy get some practice on tarmac.
Sleep on the floor and wash your hair at the same time?
I was actually lurking in from time to time while F1 FP3, World Cup, and Hour 2 of Le Mans were going on all at the same time. Compared to that, this (Le Mans + daily) is easy.
not compared to the silly world cup horn things... (i walked into the lounge when dad was watching the match, heard the awful loud buzzing and ran in the opposite direction).. how you can watch the match with that awful noise i will never know.
:D
I found the ITV coverage to be more annoying.
lunacy! was it like being in the matrix?
I got the worst of it up with a towel that I had to wash out in the shower because all the foam wouldn't fit in the sink!? I'm unsure of my next move.... Can I just leave it and hope it goes away?
it's usually been on mute while Le Mans is on the laptop. ;)
ooh, heard it was a HD fail. poor showing.
Not even the first time its happened for them either.
I was at a match today and there were 50 of them. They were deafening. How they cope when there are 40000 of them I don't know
:D a bit, yeah. but it was actually fun to see the words Messi, Hamilton, and McNish all in separate convos. :)
never that bad timing though?
Me too. THe score is in a yellow box and I keep thinking yellow flags
No, they missed a goal then to I think.
there is cricket on this weekend as well... and tennis...
(yay for a Federer v Hewitt final tomorrow at Gerry Weber! )
...and UFC (if you're into that). And Game 5 of the NBA Finals is on Monday morning. Thank heavens Monday is a bank holiday here. :D
is it someone getting exciting and hitting the wrong button or something?
oooh, retro. :D
That sorts yesterday's question then. Christine asked if it was the first time 2 events had been live commented at the same time. Now you have done three
i can't wait! i am gonna have to find a stream (amy when you read this.... heeeellpppp!!! :) )
that was two too many :)
presumably f1 + football + tennis will see it happen again?
it was actually very helpful, as i was unable to watch any of those 3 live. you guys kept me updated. :)
Hewitt got to a final? Amazing
We need to do 4 now
at Valencia in 2 weeks? yup. although it won't be anything like this, considering not as many people watch tennis and there's no guarantee what match will be on then.
#1 Pug in the gravel trap.
Don't look Lou
Ack. Wrong thread. :D
I've had LCLT for Le Mans and realtime on another tab, all day.
!!
I'll take that as a maybe
Is there any way to view your wifi password on your computer. I found my ipod and i want to connect it to the interweb. Sadly the box thingy is in my housemate's room and they're asleep right now....
I doubt it, sorry
Mine is on a sticker on the bottom of the box thingy
Check the settings on something else, if your computer/laptop/etc are there..
GRRRR I don't see why you can't. If someone stole my computer, I'm sure I'd have more pressing concerns than them sitting outside my house leeching off the wifi...
I'm not sneaking into a near-stranger's room at night!!! I'll sneak in in the morning :P
okay, it's really time for me to sleep. I'm putting you lot in charge of watching over Ant and his car through the night, because it's probably safer if i don't watch during his stints. night all! xx
Night Lou, absorb that revision!
Good night
night
yay Catherine in the daily! Also: getting up for qualifying fail.
Shhhhh.z I'm watch quail now. Don't tell anyone
I set my alarm but it either didn't work, or I slept through it and it got bored and turned itself off.
I found my magic wifi code on a bit of paper :D
I still can't access the Fantasy Racers site. Did I upset Danny (more than ususal)?
hooray for the 16 minute BBC qualy highlights. Easiest way of catching up ever!
Sidepostcast live timing?
Obvious place to keep it ;)
Le Mans is officially stupid. I've always liked the daily thread.
hooray!
I dont know either of the players in the Queen's final. Tennis is all about surprises at the moment, isnt it?
you are missing out, Sam Querry is awesome :D
although he was the one that packed a sad at the french open and went home in a huff, abandoning his doubles partner poor little johnny isner.
Ooh, yes, I remember him. Bit grumpy. And fish is the one who knocked out Murray.
correct. I like Fish only because his name is Fish. And sometimes he plays doubles with Roddick and the media calls them Fish'n'Rod
The Halle final is also today and that is Roger v Hewitt, so it should be a really, really good match.
I have definitely heard of them :)
out of all the active players on the ATP tour they are the two with the most grass titles. Hewitt's record is 7 wins and 0 losses in grass finals but this is the first time he's come up against Roger. He normally plays at Queens, this is the first year he has gone to Halle.
"Federer has also won 76 of his last 77 matches on grass, the only blemish since 2003 being his famous five-set finals loss to Rafael Nadal in the 2008 Wimbledon final."
thats pretty amazing. <3 Roger.
That is quite incredible. I was talking to my mum about Wimbledon, she said she wasn't bothered about watching it as Fed always wins. I said that at least he has to work for it now as other players are catching him up, but i had to finish with "Oh, no, he'll still win it."
I don't know whether i convinced her or not.
he has only won one of the last two! So its 50/50.
In other news, I am making cheese rolls. Does anybody want one?
Aw YUM !!
What is that? It looks delicious!
its a South Island delicacy! I've never made them before, I've only ever bought them in fund raisers so I had to email mum for her recipe. The North Island/rest of the world is so missing out.
Is that like cheese on toast with the toast rolled up?
kind of, you have to prepare the cheese mix before you start. Mine is cheese, onion, evaporated milk and onion soup mix.
hooray, 40 cheese rolls all done! Now I never want to look at cheese or bread again.
You ate 40?
noooo I froze 40
I would like to give you all 10 weeks warning that at this exact time in 10 weeks I will be FREAKING OUT.
Packing?boarding? Landing?
5 hours til the flight departs and I'll be thinking about heading to the airport because I'll be too excited to spend another minute at home :D
I've just posted two more Film Watches:
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/06/13/film-watch-59-lost/
http://smarterthanyouraverage.com/2010/06/13/film-watch-60-sherlock-holmes/
I made a spoiler banner too but it doesn't sit right on the post. Too much going on at the top, I think. Needs more work.
uh oh, I promised my flatmate I would attend her epic dinner party tonight but I'm not feeling too well and I just want to sleep :(
#nothere
I have e-mailed a world cup post
Phew! :)
You would think Twitter could have anticipated extra traffic for the World Cup. I'm not sure the last time I saw it stay up longer than five minutes.
Morning guys and gals, gonna give Dr Who a watch now and attempt to be as impartial as possible
Also nice daily lou :)
Hehe. I am still not brave enough :)
I am pleasently surprised so far :)
Although Matt Smith has been stupendously good so far
its not the best episode ever... And is a bit strange, but cordon isn't too bad in it. :)
I didn't ping the world cup post: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/06/13/2010-fifa-world-cup-day-3/
LOOOOOOOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://atdhe.net/19986/watch-atp-gerry-weber-open-federer-vs-hewitt
Amy are you around?
wooaaah... psychic Amy...
Thank youuuu!!!
*this makes revision nicer*
creepy
I can't believe I enjoyed James Corden
Although I definitely know why *writes blog*
Ooooh.
We are learning German today then.
It's fun that they play music in the break.
fünfzehn, dreißig
like beach volleyball
Yes. Exactly.
I just went to get some
CanadaHalle snacks and the lady at the bakery has given me an eclair! That's not what I ordered! I will eat it, but I will sulk.Booo. What did you order?
custard square :D
They are slightly different!
she was distracted when serving me because the guy she served before me came back to say she gave him the wrong coffee. Bad day for the lady at the bakery!
all this german is inspiring me to type my german letter into google translate. Just to make sure I haven't won the lottery.
erwachsener = adult. Whoever would have known? Well, Kathi I guess.
Roger, stop it with the trick shot.
verkehrsunternehmen. German is awesome.
The Potted History makes so much more sense with a table of contents: http://sidepodcast.wikia.com/wiki/A_Potted_History
thats not even the longest word on the page. The longest one is "befoerderungsbedingungen"
Whats with the SUPER CLOSE UP of Roger? i'm scared of that.
it's much lunch break and i'd like to state.. le mans sucks.
poor Ant.
Indeed :(
You might like to know I actually quite liked james corden - http://bit.ly/9UNZwV
+1.
that is good news :) i'll tell Nay for you ;P
oh lord, does no one want to hold serve?
hehe!
thank goodness for the tennis. Ant should have just come to Canada.. marmots and crofty are much better than silly le mans.
Le mans is clearly not proper racing
i have never wanted the audis to be unreliable as much as i do now.. just to spite them.
i know i can't blame them but their car looks awful, they don't deserve to win with a livery like that.. ;)
Afternoon!
Ooh, does my head hurt
Was Lewis punished yesterday?
is this your Irish name? :D
$10,000
Just a fine.
for what?
Lack of fuel, I guess
No grid penalty is good though
not getting abck to the pits or something.
for giving good tv
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84404
#NotMotoGP then?
aparently
I dont know if you discussed it yesterday, but I like EJ's idea of locking engine settings so they cant go into "fuel saving mode" at the end of a race.
Good idea?
No, EJ's an idiot
Nuff said
Think I might have a nap after watching Roger win, then up for the race at 1am, back to sleep after the forum around 4.30ish, then up again at 8.10am. Perfect.
Crazy girl!
But so dedicated :D
After sleeping through qualifying, I can't sleep through the race!
I have a dilema, the bar with big screen and wifi will be showing the race but I'm worried they'll switch over to the Germany match at 7.30
Silly football
chooooon
BSB?
'twas Take On Me :D
oh oh oh Christine I have decided this years Wimbledon scarf will be black which is very boring, but I need a scarf to wear when I go out in the middle of winter to watch the All Blacks v Australia :D
Black is good! I approve of black, as long as it is nice black wool.
I already have lots of black wool but none of it is soft and snuggly enough, so I welcome this excuse to go and buy more.
oh, Roger :(
HE DOES NOT WANT ME TO SLEEP
aww poor Roger has no support crew!
Boo!
The pics I've been sending to my twitpic email addy haven't been updating :(
Amy - Hewitt is winning! Stop this!
:(
Is there a Giggles Radio session today?
I'm guessing Alex is still away
Right then, what's next? :D
Grand Prix and then Football ;)
I have to go to the supermarket before it shuts :(
Football then GP then football ;)
But... I've an hour and a half to kill
This sporting weekend has let me down ;)
Weekend supermarkets are not nice :(
I liked going in the middle of the night after work. I think i'd feel weird making a specific midnight trip though. Stupid sunday opening
hewitt serving for the match
I generally go after a late shift but the salads and other fresh goods are rarely stocked very well
If I go now, I need to kick toddlers out the way to get anywhere though...
ROGER NOOOOO
There's always tomorrow
There can't be tennis on as well
well, it's finished now :D although queens is on but I am skipping that so I can nap.
Amy!!! what happened to him!!!!! I was unable to revise for that last game! can't believe he lost!! bad times. Hopefully Heikki will do better later :)
Two lots of tennis? Is this world sporting weekend?
Sadly there's no food at home and i'm already hungry...
Last night Heikki was tweeting trying to find out what was happening in a javelin throwing competition. Unless I dreamt that too
those crazy finns
Lewis got a £10k fine for parking on the track yesterday. Love the Viva penalty page. What a great idea
http://www.vivaf1.com/penalties.php
He he
Wall of shame
Does he only watch obscure sports?
genius
and a reprimand. anybody else thinks that reprimands are useless? how many reprimands can you get until you get some real punishment? 5000? it should be something like 5 reprimands one suspension or something, if not is just rubbish...
soooo jealous: http://twitpic.com/1wgscx
3 reprimands gets a proper telling off
5 means, off to the naughty step
No idea but I don't think I have ever in my life seen anyone show the slightest interest in a javelin competition before other than people who are there. People have asked the result of football rugby, horse racing, dog racing golf, tennis etc etc butno-one ever has ever discussed javelin with me
I'm scared if I take you on a hangar visit you'll never leave :)
Aircraft parts - Everywhere
They need yellow cards.
THat must be like cog heaven
Zig & Zag, haven't seen them in years!
virgin are doing the posh camping thing at silverstone:
http://www.virginexperiencedays.co.uk/experiences/Virgin_Racing_Camping_Park_Ride_and_Three_Day_Grandstand_ticket_for_One__747/
open to all.
I should be napping but instead I am frazzled because I can't find my rugby tickets. WHO TOOK THEM?
You haven't got a ticket holder/file type thing?
How have you got time to go to rugby today?
Nearly £400 to go camping? Blimey
they came in a wee envelope covered in the australian rugby team and last time I saw them they were on my bed with all my other papers I need to sort through. Tonight I cleaned up and they were missing from the pile.
The match is on July 31 so I have quite a while to find them :D
Webber has had a gearbox change so 5 places gone
and I thought that for one time my pole poll was going to be great...
is this webber's bad luck coming back or just a conspiracy inside RBR ;-)
Wow. That's no good. So he starts 7th.
i'd say a bit of both...
too bad. I liked him for champion (if none of the ferraris were going to win it) :P
Here's another Where's Heikki for Amy: http://tweetphoto.com/27043665
Bernie says no HD before 2012 because, you guessed it, there is no market for it...
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84448
I can't sleep.
This is not news
:-(
are you staying up for the race?
indeed
I was actually trying to! Eye mask and ear plugs and everything!
I found my rugby tickets too, so the stress was gone :D
Autosport on Webber's gearbox change: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84450
(not that they say much more)
It means Alonso is starting 3rd, good chances for him to get in front of Vettel at the first corner (and less chances for a Vettel-Webber collision :P )
Ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/06/13/live-canada-2010-the-race/
Were they down the back of the sofa?
I hear it's party town for lost stuff there
hiding between two boooks on my bookcase, where I must have put them for "safe keeping" and then promptly forgot about. So now I have put them with my Monza tickets and my train tickets because those are tickets I always know where they are.
So, technically... you took them.
yes. I thought the chances of you guys sneaking into my house from the other side of the world was slim, but I had to be sure :D
just a short #sidepodspace news:
Japan's Hayabusa sample return capsule has landed on Australia with (hopefully) dust/rock samples from an asteroid in the main belt, after a 7 years trip
http://hayabusa.jaxa.jp/e/index.html
Just want to plug this because it made me chuckle. Someone's got a new fan.
http://twitpic.com/1wj40h
I would like finish the daily by wishing everyone who is currently taking exams the best of luck, whether they be GCSEs, A levels or anything else. Good luck to everyone {Original entry}
Thank you :) In 48 hours' time I will have taken my final two exams of the academic year (Medical Terminology and Document Presentation).
and a reprimand. anybody else thinks that reprimands are useless? how many reprimands can you get until you get some real punishment? {Comment #201}
The way it's supposed to work is if you get a reprimand for something and then you repeat the offence in the same area of the regulations, you get an automatic penalty upgrade. They're disregarded if the subsequent regulation breach was in a different part of the regulations (so being warned for blocking should result in a penalty upgrade if you block again but not if you deliberately crash into an opponent instead). I do not think the stewards apply this consistently.
Ah the daily :P
Should've been 3-0
and we are done with sport for the weekend.
i.might.die
yay for lou's daily still being here.
woo! *sits back in it*
Massa gets a 20 second penalty
http://twitter.com/autosportnews/status/16095603953
and ou know who walks free again
http://twitter.com/autosportnews/status/16095599029
yay, catching up on the F1 now. My weekend isn't finished yet.
doh
hey lou.
I didn't realise Rubens had a big shunt on the first lap
...keh.
;)
Yeah Jaime wanted to ruin his amazing record.
Boo Tim :(
am confused. i wrote lou and the read my own comment. hey keh.
Heikki?
:D
:)
okay, i admit it... i'm lost without sport.
*looks worried*
buy yourself a darts board?
with a christine in the house?
buy a helmet?
Theres almost certainly some golf on somewhere
okay, i admit it... i'm lost without sport.
*looks worried* {Comment #255}
Investigate some safe indoor sports that both you and Christine can enjoy?
My parents have a huge cool wooden game where you try and slide big wooden discs into little slots. That's good fun and it's quite safe!
twister!
No. You don't want to get a sporting injury when the only person who can get help is tangled up with you.
dominoes?
That isn't fun. Maybe I'm just bitter from my school days....
I used to volunteer in an old peoples home and they all used to cheat. Bad times.
dominoes? {Comment #264}
That's a good choice. I like dominoes :)
That has to be a good place to start. Sitting down so less chance of trips, falls etc and no bending stretching at odd angles. So long as neither of you are bad losers who wil launch dominoes at the other it should work
the old people would cheat to beat you at dominoes??
Yup. You can't really do anything about it either without looking like a spoilsport....
:)
You could see what is better, dominoes as a sport or dominoes pizzas
Evening
I am looking for an annual travel insurance policy and have read more tiny print than I really would like to again.... One section really amused me though
Hazardous Activities
Certain activities are automatically covered by this insurance and these are defined under Section 28 within Section 28
Wintersports, Golf, Wedding Cover - You will not be covered for claims caused by participation in any of the above activities unless included in Section 15-24 and you have contacted OINC.com and been accepted for cover by us.
Since when was a wedding a "hazardous activity" :D
I missed all today's football and still I feel overdosed, my head hurts from all the input I've had since Wednesday. Lots of simultaneous action. :)
Could use a week off.
Also, SO tired
If something has cover of £150 and an excess of £100 does that mean the most they'd pay you is £50? Or do you get £150 providing you lost £250 worth of stuff?
Sounds like that
challenge!
it was mega le mans post that did it :)
Evening all, I was avoiding all results until Id watched the GP but got a bit bored and in a moment of weakness opened twitter and Autosport. boo.
Anyway, 20 laps to go and although it's a great race, I think I still don't like F1, not sure why though.
Bored!!!
madness... :)
F1 dosen't do it for me at the moment really, the racing bit does but the sport itself dosen't hugely, which has changed because I used to hate the racing and enjoy the sport!
Slightly late new teams championship post: http://northernwaffler.wordpress.com/2010/06/13/back-from-the-dead/
interesting tweet for lou:
More on photos. we get a fixed number of photos from our pro guys, so wanted to get a feel for what to put on the site. A mix, it appears
http://twitter.com/VirginRacing/status/16097579104
Hey folks,
:)
Oh it was the blogging that did it! Non-stop Monday doing game stuff, non-stop Tuesday with two TMR posts and the LM preview here (even if half of it wasn't mine!), then LM quals Weds (with Viva quiz) and Thurs (with The Wire in the gaps because it was going to be removed from BTV..).
I'm sure I did something Friday but I honestly can't remember.
Burned out.
If you were bored it was because you spoiled it by reading the result.
Ouch, I have blisters on my thumbs from the sim-racing I've been doing this evening.
Not sure I was bored after that race
:D
Just skimmed the comments I missed during my various absences...
Alia is a star for staying pretty much all night.
I love Alex's football post!
I've got blisters on me fingers!!!
I'm not sure who said that. I'm sure it was a drummer but something happened to him last summer... ;)
nah, i knew Lewis would win anyway, he was so much better in the early part of the race.
I've been racing the Eagle at Zandvoort and the McLaren M2B also. Grand Prix Legends 66 mod at my favourite circuit. Popped 2nd on the grid in race 2, to which some bright spark said "that's the last time I lend you my setup"!
i am as down about f1 as anyone can be right now. but that was a good evenings entertainment.
i can't see that f1 can get much better. i wish every race were like that.
Just thought I'd drop by, I now have a nice comfy bed to go to. Night everyone!
304 unread posts since friday evening. oh dear.
night tm
night sir
oh no, dont get me wrong, I've enjoyed the spesh since Lewis won because he really deserved it and it was nice to see RB not getting another win, the sport gets me down, and the prospect of being in a large depressed factory tomorrow ;)
understandable. a bad weekend from friday to sunday sadly.
Hey!!
Rubens deserves all the wi... oh Red Bull.
It's monday morning and so far I still feel alive
true dat.
it's all kicking off between mclaren and williams:
Macca’s Andy Latham ran the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 14 minutes. That was three minutes quicker than our best time, which was set by chief mechanic Carl Gaden
also, more about mclaren:
You’ve gotta love Lewis Hamilton’s mechanics. After turning up in Turkey two weeks ago with pierced ears, his boys all sported earrings prior to this morning’s first practice session.
heheheh!
http://www.attwilliams.com/news/view/1417
Rosberg got points. #worlddoesn'trevolvearoundschumi
Red Bull just seem to want to throw any chance of the championships away each week.
Jon whatever you do tomorrow dont go cutting any corners
true, 6th is about as good as the car is, Rosberg didn't get a show at all during the race, very odd
:)
:)
♥
:)
:)
This race and a couple of others have lead to me starting to like no-refuelling...
*hides from Mr C*
I have a rollerball mouse, so no corners needed
#rubbishcomebacks
A convert!!!!!!!`
and don't.. walk too long on your more comfy shoes..
:D
I wasn't against it at the start, I was waiting to see how it would work out. So far I've liked what I've seen.
how is it 11.20pm already? i only just came in the door, turns out that was over an hour ago
christine and i were discussing earlier that sub three second pitstops are really, really silly. entirely pointless in fact.
i think stopping debrief was the best idea we ever had, because my negativity towards the sport hasn't changed, regardless of a good couple of races. glad people are enjoying it though.
In all fairness, I'm starting to think refuelling/non-refuelling doestn't really matter.
bingo
I don't see why. But they can be slowed down by removing some personnel, LM style.
i think we've still averaged more lemons this year than hits. we'll see at the end of the season / next year i guess. i stand by my dislike of the changes though, but i can see why many aren't bothered.
that would be good. I don't mind no refuelling, I just think the stops themselves are stupidly short that it does seem a it pointless
That could work
shower and a beer, back shortly
I agree with the pitstops,
I don't care about overtaking the tension that comes with having the top 4/5 sepearted by 5 seconds is enough for me. In the days of refuelling the race could be over by the first round of stops as the guy in front had built a significant lead.
I think the 2009 regs were a big fail, they've changed some and its helped the racing. I'm not sure if its because of the lack of refuelling.
blink and you've no idea the car even pitted. unless the tv cameras pick it up, you've got nope of know ing someone is in. there's just not enough time to pick it up.
fine for the leaders. a complete joke for the tailenders.
the point is that they change to different compound tyres, and that F1 stops are the fastest in the world.
I had no trouble following it.
i heard DTM stops were faster last weekend?
I think a Milky bar is in order right now... yum...
sure. so fast you don't see them. to me it's a massive fail.
Maybe they were, they are pretty quick
Pitstops are needed because they break up the racing and give it a change, but I want to watch the stop, rather than missing it each time
I'm not necessarily defending the reason why, I just think that is one of the reasons why. I mean I don't see any reason to have that many people for a pit stop.
am with you. le mans style stops would help. so would refuelling. i'd take either, but not what we have right now.
4 guys from (insert relevant theft county, e.g merseyside, essex, birmingham), sorted
#quickeststopsever
i don't mind if there's a hundred people helping out, so long as i have time to at least acknowledge something is happening. 8-10 seconds seemed to work for me.
!!!!
Mika Hakkinen is confirmed for all 3 days at Goodwood. DEFINITELY have to try and meet him.
Jon you know Reading, right? Will @isitmayyet (not sure if you read his site) is coming over on business and may be looking for stuff to do. thoughts?
(am really going away for a few mins now, brb)
awe.some
Allan McNish will be there all 3 days too. If I see him I'll tell him how much I enjoyed his interview with Jon ;)
yaaaaaay, love that guy
Jackie Stewart driving Jim Clark's Indy winning car should be very special too. I'm just going through the confirmed who's driving what list :)
wow - mcnish and hakkinen?! it's like ex-mclaren weekend or something!!
Daily post scheduled, I think, for the first time ever, I've got the bulletpoints nailed on.
On the off-chance, if anyone's waiting, the Archive race report won't be up until 1am - a hell of a lot to be edited out
Damn these exciting races
:o
I'm still recovering from the bullet point in bullet point madness
you have indeedy good sir, thanking you :)
Woohoo
heheh. did i mention what was missing? just needed <li> tags inside the second list and all would've been perfect.
oooh, simple enough! That was a recurring theme with my assignments. Simple option always works.
Upon asking Adam Cooper what the point of reprimands were, I got this
Sad, but true
It's a trip to the headmasters office, a stern telling to and a quick 'don't do that again or we'll ring your parents'. Bounces straight off drivers I bet.
so long as no-one tries it on next race, i guess it's job done loop-hole exploited.
on the upside, it looks like mclaren aren't scared of the fia anymore, which can only be a good thing.
or quite scary, how far will McLaren go?
don't know. but they've been avoiding any marginal calls for the past 18 months, seem like a new twist from them in canada.
what with that and ron turning up, i say they're back to their old selves.
don't they have a suspended sentence hanging over them still or has that expired?
probably, but it was a sentence brought in by the old fia regime. no-one can force the fia to honour that if they quietly choose not to.
Time for me to do a pedro and retire for the day. #sorryrg
night guys.
he exists!
night lou ;)
night Lukeh
:)
i just checked the suspended sentence for 'liegate' was a 12 month deal, so its expired now
night Lukeh.
*cries*
night
ah-ha. renaults must've been a lifetime sentence.
it's been more than 12 months for mclaren though, so something must've prompted them to throw caution to the wind.
I'm sure Max leaving is directly related.
certainly part of the story. he left awhile ago though.
testing the waters at "todt riverside estate"?
there was only Abu Dhabi without him in charge I think.
Last year he looked at me funny. I didn't know what to say. Maybe it was the Aston Martin hat.
Ooh can't wait. It was there static last year, they hadn't fixed it yet
Mr C is going to be so proud of me, I've gone all M|F|C

You're right, I do actually feel lost without anything happening.

Quietly enjoying a rest instead.
