The weekend is here, but there is no respite from the F1 action, as testing continues for a fourth day at Jerez. Well, I say it continues, but so far we have seen most of the running hampered by the weather. I can't imagine today will be much different, but we will keep our eyes peeled. Elsewhere, here are some of the things we're talking about:
- Lotus launched their new car yesterday in London, and it has caused quite a vast array of opinions regarding the livery, the look of the car, and the general feel of bringing back an old name into the sport. Have your say in the breakout thread, catch up with the details on F1 Minute, and get a closer look over at F1 Big Picture.
- If you're at a loose end over the weekend, why not have a read of the latest part of my story? Life in the Fast Lane is a ten part piece of fiction, in which you get to control the direction of the story at the end of each part. We're onto the third section now, and you get to make a strategy call for the driver in question.
- Just as a heads up, I am currently in the middle of reorganising the wiki, which basically entails moving the pages about a lot, merging information so we don't have half empty pages, and deleting a couple of unnecessary pages as well. It was getting in a bit of a mess, and I've made it a lot worse, but I have a plan. You can keep on using it normally, but just be aware you might find things aren't where you left them.
That should do it for now. Giggles has confirmed there won't be a radio show this week, so no live streaming over the weekend, but I will see you in the comments.
It's a new day apparently
I hope Lotus do a better editing job on their next podcast. Not quite sure how the editor missed that.
What am I listening out for?
you'll know it when you reach it :)
right bed time for me. night all! xx
Nighty night!
night
night lou
The interview with Fairuz Fauzy. Ted interviews him and asks him about his feelings. Fauzy starts speaking and says he will know more after the shakedown tomorrow so Ted explains that they are making a podcast and it will not go out until after the shakedown and tells him to keep it more general and not to mention dates. They then re-start the interview and do it properly then no-one edited it out.
Night Lou.
Hope you feel better in the morning
remember I did a podcast, and somehow deleted the 1st track. cue a few minutes of silence. didn't notice until a couple of weeks later.
G'night Lou
Understandable doing it yourself but for the first podcast by a professional company
Did I read Mr C tweeting that it was produced by the guys that used to do the Guardian F1 podcast?
I think so. Can't remember their name but it was mentioned earlier
UPS Content
That's them
*USP Content
Not the couriers :)
But they are covered in brown stuff after this mistake
True

Sleeping is harder than it looks....
As someone with chronic sleeping problems...i would agree
You just purse your lips and blow.
Hang on that's whistling.
First rule of sleeping. Don't think about sleeping.
morning all. I am at work. On a saturday! Its like a whole new world
Chronic, that sounds serious
I only have issues when I'm on 'lates'
Is this a regular thing for you Jon?
Hi Amy
Overtime?
Morning.
Goood morning Amy.
eveeeery day
How many hours do you average, is it sleeping or getting to sleep?
my wife has trouble sleeping, but she is on some serious medication, and still finds it hard to get to sleep.
I've had bad problems getting to sleep since I was about 12. Once I'm asleep I could stay there all day. I can get by on very little sleep though...
once im down im down but its getting down in the first place.
I was on some really mild sleeping tablets along with lots of other stuff, but i stopped them when they ran out and now i just wait to get to sleep, usually about 2-2.30, i write and do work up until 12ish and then watch west wing or friends until i get sleepy.
no fun
Same
its noo fun
Yeah, WW is great to fall asleep to with the timer on. Knowing all the stories with hardly any loud, action scenes helps
I rewatched Series 1 - 7 that way! :)
Am currently re-doing DS9 now
i've watched it through a couple of times now, the first time i had to watch it all in order but i can now dip in and out, a bit how friends is normally.
I get up at 7 on Friday but every other day its 8 or later so getting 5+ hours is enough often.
although every day i wake up with what is apparently called "a sleep hangover", huge headache, often dizzy etc etc, exhausted. gone within the hour usually though
Did you ever watch the one and only series of Studio 60... Jon?
i get a bad headache if i have a nap during the day, but not in the morning.
OMG insane? I hardly notice it. I can make myself "snap out" of being tired which other people think is odd.....
no but one of my girlfriends house mates loves it, and we have very similar tastes, so i may try it
nah, mine dosent go away, i can often shorten its time, shower, breakfast etc all quickly but still wont go away quickly
Another good'un from Aaron Sorkin, with Bradley Whitford & "Danny the reporter' dude
Actually, Mathew Perry is there too. I'd recommend it, shame they cancelled it before it really took off
I read that thinking "one of my girlfriends....."
aha. ill take that in the complimentary way i think, rather than the negative ;)
not overtime, i had tuesday off instead. Working so hard i almost forgot to take my break, oops.
A rookie mistake ;)
However you like....
Grrr look at the time! Last time I had a very early morning, I ended up having to ring in sick....
forgetting to take a break? does. not. compute.
Although driving about does give me more opportunities for additional breaks, to look at things in shops i don't need, but feel compelled to want.
Don't make us shoo! you :)
BED! NOW!
Just been watching the real Jamaican Bobsleigh team.....cool runnings is better
i dont want to go out tonight :( please talk me into it :(
Speaking of the Winter Olympics:
http://northernwaffler.wordpress.com/2010/02/13/winter-dangers/
They could never be better than Cool Runnings
Persuasive talking is my strong point ;)
DONT GO OUT
Don't go. Well OK go then
wait, you dont want to go out, but you do?
no i should go because i have like zero social life which is not good. But thats because i never want to go out.
ah ok.
GO
Fellow Kiwis not a decent enough excuse?
Go out because you may find someone who is thinking of going to Europe to see some races but doesn't want to go alone
Never seen it, I really should though
It's such an SPC icon now
SPC's movie expert has never seen Cool Runnings?? Does not compute
For the mad people like me staying up to watch the opening ceremony, live text is here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympic_games/vancouver_2010/live_coverage/8513144.stm
I have a rather large backlog of films to see.
Apparently, there have been quite a few made
i like going out in the daytime for coffee and lunch or at nighttime for dinner but nightclubs make me hate humanity but thats where everyone goes. And its cold and rainy and i hate that. And i have no way to get home. I shall go though. And probably leave early.
I would if opening ceremonys didnt bore me and if i had a tv licence
Late bars > Clubs
that what i do, im much more of a pub or a bar person, clubs bore me
But Cool Runnings
Well... http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/olympics/
Yeah, I know!
still need a tv licence for online tv
Doesn't help with the boredom part though ;)
If you really want to, you should watch foreign coverage online ;)
i tried to put the opening ceremony on and people told me it was boring. We are watching wwe, ugh
[*Major Facepalm*]
true, however as you pointed out, it dosent help with the bordem part.
i think im going to be spending a large amount of time in teh gym over the next few weeks with the tvs.....
Maybe J.V. will do donuts in a BAR zipper-car!?!?
Well. True.
tvs?
on the wall?
Ah, the TV's
WWE isn't boring????
ah yes, sorry
Alison & Bassano: correcting your grammar, so you don't have to :)
Your amazing....
Men in undercrackers
Is it a bit 'light on your feet' in the office then? ;)
:)
[Is not rising to the bait] :D
my first memory of twitter is of me writing the wrong "there" and some auto-twitter-retweet thingy corrected it
Darn ;)
#hasonlyjustgotthat
muhaha i changed the channel anyway
Winter Olympics opening ceremony now on BBC2
The guy on the luge hit an unpadded pole. How is that possible?
Poor organisation.
Sounds like they have Charlie Whiting doing safety inspections
YEYYY!! I'm tired, gotta sleep! Woop. Have a good weekend, won't be around, am in Henley-on-Thames tomorrow and then Reading in the afternoon, then the Triathlon show in Surrey on Sunday! Busy Busy Busy!
See ya Jon
Good luck
Ridiculous how it passed. The track has way too high speeds, and is just simply too dangerous. As I said on my blog post, someone else had an accident and was unconcious.
Best of luck Jon.
Good night
They just said there had been several accidents at the same spot
After the second they had no excuse
night Jon
It is ridiculous that anything close to a track like that is not padded. They should be able to stop people being shot out of the track.
reminds me a little bit of the Mercedes Le Mans incidents in 1999.
Talking on the BBC suggested they'd made changes already
A solution is simple, Lexan shielding the length of dangerous sections. I don' understand how someone didn't sport the issue at MY Olympics.
I saw a picture on cnn.com. The design looks very poorly thought out.
This accident was on corner 16. Initial runs suggested corner 13 was a bit dangerous so they made some changes there. Maybe the changes to 13 made 16 a bit too difficult
From what I have seen and heard, from local broadcasters in Canada, is that the whole track is demanding and that the last turn complex at 180-210 degrees, at some 4-4.5G, might be too much.
Ugh, over-scripted, over produced ceremonies. Snowboard in to B.C. Place?
there has been lots of complaints that canada hasnt let other countries get enough time getting used to the course
4.5g is near the limit for a rollercoaster
From Pearcesport, BBC reporter at the games
"Vancouver Organising Committee announces press conference for 1900 GMT Saturday to give update on luge safety investigation"
All organisers have done that to give their own team an advantage. Not exactly the Olympic committee. The trouble is at the Olympics there are a lot of people who would never qualify for a major championships. Apparently this guy would never get near a world championship.
Very difficult course, minimum practise, under-qualified competitors. You don't need to be an expert to see the problem
He competed in 5 events in the World Cup, 55th overall if I remember right.
THe luge competition is supposed to be tomorrow. To me they should postpone it for a few days but no way should they cancel it. It's like motor racing. Anyone who has entered knows the risk and is prepared to take it.
Seems the most logical option. I doubt anything will go ahead until after the safety inspection has been completed.
There are connected issues if you delay an event. The bobsleigh (2 and 4 man) mandate extra time to repair the track, because of the wear that the extra weight puts on the track.
A relatively simple fix is available, a sheilding along the side of the track.
There are bigger issues if they don't delay and someone else gets killed. Even if it is an entirely unrelated accident
There needs to be some sort of modification. Even if they just cover the bars with boarding, or extend the ridge coming out of that corner. Very poor track design.
Unrelated, but predictable/obvious yes.
When I saw video of the accident, the death, I asked myself how could we have missed that.
I am sure there are contingency plans upon plans and this sort of things have been planned for. While effectively meaningless, all local broadcasters have somehow found something black to wear.
night all, see you later
Night mate.
finland have horrible jackets
Night
Not as bad as the Germans.
we are now watching ski jumping instead of the opening ceremony because the german girl i work with has a favourite. My guess is he is the german guy.
You could tell her its only the qualifiers...
Don't the Germans have a fashion police?
#sorrykathi
its ok, i like this jumping thing even if it isnt live. Having four 24/7 channels is spoiling me, i might never leave work.
Has Prince Albert given up the bobsleigh?
Yep, by the sounds of it.
Qatar?
He is over 50
And has not been re-invigorated by Herr Schumacher. Pitty.
The Mexican guy is 51...
One thing is for sure, the Chinese can totally blow the Kanucks out of the water when it comes to opening ceremonies.
Apparantly the main thing is still to come.
Which is a shame since I'm going to miss it, bed is calling. Night all and lotsa love.
Night RG. It's a bit late for you
Yep, certainly nothing new, forget spectaculae.
Was quite eager to watch the opening ceremony.
#nothere
To be fair, the Chinese really outdid anything I ever expected. The guys up north had a steep hill to climb.
For me the Olympics is about the athletes and the flame. So far, i have seen nothing better than the 1992 Barcelona of 1994 (?) Lillihamer (sp?) ceremonies.
I managed to totally miss Barcelona
Is there any way to get the page to refresh as a new post goes up? I seem to remember it doing that in the past.
Try http://sidepodcast.com/realtime/ Every comment on every thread will appear automatically.
Your computer will check for new comments every 10 seconds automatically and if you don't touch it after about 5 minutes it will stop checking and a panda will pop up to tell you it is sleeping
www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSA9xUUXj6E
Apparently he aced the first practice on the first shot.
Newon had it right all along!
this is still pretty cool though
Aside from the red maple leaf back-light effect, the rest is vomit-inducing.
We don't have the money here to do what the Chinese did.
No-one does
I liked the effect of the ocean on the stadium floor with the air blowing out..
Any guesses as to who will light the cauldron?
The video floor is very cool.
All the probables have been tight lipped... Nancy Greene, Gaetan boucher, Gretzky....
Rick Hansen has been on the "run".
I would like for it to be an Olympian, or a sportsperson....
Ken Ried
Chantal Petitclerc
Donovan Bailey.....
My guess is Terry Fox's mom Betty.
How did it get to be that time? #blamealison
Night all
THERE HE IS!!!!
My guess is wrong Betty is carrying the olympic flag and so is Jacques Villeneuve!
JV, the only one not wearing a tie.
I am seriously not enjoying this opera lady.
I think her hair is alive.
jacques!
Jacques - no beard
Jacques - no blond/blue hair
Jacques - no ride (though that is not new).
gosh canada has a lot of awful singers
that cuts real deep, I have a nice voice
We could Have J.V. sing the Canadian national anthem at the 2010 Candian GP, if you would like, Amy.
heh no thank you. Where is michael buble? He is the official vancouver 2010 ambassador on australian tv.
OK, we get it... they are all going to light it....
hydraulic problems
Assuming the torches last.... they are designed for 4-5 minute burn....
WOW... Green technology in... How long can you burn.......
thats a cool flame
missing a torch :(
ugg
This is rough.....
It's like when you think a movie is over but keeps on going, and going, and going and.......
The "Driven" of the Olympics?
I like driven but I think I am the only one.
There are a bunch of drunk kids running after the great one.
Well I am off to bed.
i have well and truly taken over the tv now, watching super 14 rugby.
Moooorning :D
you are up early miss alison!
Yes. I have to go to work in 20 minutes :(
Good Morning,
Sun is shining, we had some more snow over night and it's -22. Perfect :)
I am at work too (well from home)
I was at work but now I am at home, not working :D
Well now I am at home not working too :)
#MFC
A company called Square Up are launching a service to enable you to accept credit card payments via your iPhone!! I would say that once that's doable and prevalent a lot of people will be asking, "so this paper and coin money what's the point of that?
Link: https://squareup.com/intro
Start of SS10 delayed : too many spectators #rally
me three :-)
The latest podcast from wrc.com is now available on iTunes and is only 8mb so you can do as I did and download it on your iPhone over 3G.
Longest off season ever!
I found you on the McLaren forum /stalk
stage has finally started
You can use paper and coin money on the iphone?
kinda obvious huh?
Thanks for reminding me that I should go back there sometime :-)
I need to let Paul know I'm going I guess
I always thought special stages were the ones they did on a short track head to head?
whats the difference between a special stage and a normal one?
Isnt that on cable tv over there?
the head to head ones are superspecials. special stages are the normal timed ones. there are no normal stages :)
Kimi in trouble again. He lost almost a minute on the last part of this stage #rally
indeed, hence why I was watching at work :D
plug alert - the best 2010 livery poll
watch out for low flying plugs ;)
I'm browsing twitter for some rally news; Found this: http://twitpic.com/dqa6x
ah... that makes sense!
I guess we don't have a petite prix at f1 weekends , so its pretty similar :)
ah.. #rebel
Im goint to have to try and sneak the sailing on tomorrow i think!
its not rebelling, we have 7 TVs in the office :D
Morning all.
hello you.
Ah, it's you. You'll be asking for breakfast soon then.
hungry.
Oooh what's for breakfast?
Well, probably some kind of croissant or crumpety type thing.
I have uploaded a video explaining the lack of radio show tomorrow...
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/video-50-wmv
Goood morning all.
Crumpety type thing? What could that be if it wasn't a crumpet?
crumpet toast?
It is a crumpet. I just realised I don't like the word crumpet, so I changed it :)
Morning RG, how's it going?
Very tired. Possibly watching the opening ceremony wasn't the cleverest idea in the world.
:D
I do like crumpety type things. Just a generous serving of butter. #yum
Ohh I like those. You can't get them in Finland/Germany. :(
Ahhh, how was it?
how could you not like the word crumpet? it sounds like melted butter and vegemite. Mmmmm
sounds good :)
Booo.
I am rewatching it right now. God bless fast forward because parts of it were booooooring.
I've always enjoyed the teams coming in. I might support the plucky non-wintry nations with one athlete that wasn't actually born in that country.
Off to post office to pick up a pop shield
can you get crumpet toast in the UK? I just googled it to make sure I didn't dream it existed but it seems all the results are in NZ/Australia
Excellent!
like Ghana and their Scottish guy?
Not sure what that is. I will Google.
Exactly. I think the Columbian one is American as well.
apparently it's gross. I've never tried it because I'm not a big crumpet fan.
Crumpet toast is even greater than the humble crumpet.
I don't think we have that here. It looks very... yellow.
Do try it amy. i beg of you
the site I stole that picture from says "it's like buying a loaf of bread, sliced n' all but only smaller. each slice looks just like a piece of toast but sadly has no holes in it (like crumpets) - i was expecting holes god dammit! i wanted "crumpets" fashioned into the shape of toast to help my life feel more interesting - but what i got was ...er, toast. well, it is very, very similiar to toast - except more dense and slightly springy. but the big let down is the taste - it does NOT taste like a crumpet! it doesn't even taste like toast! - it tastes like cardboard."
Noooooooo!! its crispy and di grassi. mean delicious
I would try it if I could get one piece but I ain't buying a whole loaf of something I might not like.
right, I am now fast forwarding to the bit where Jacques came in. God I hate him.
:)
But you might like it, and then have a whole loaf.
I'm too risk averse for that sort of thing!
:-)
Ha haaa. :-)
boo. Queue at post office. Too long for me to pick it up and make my train. Boo!
This afternoon I am going to a comedy music competition!
its odd, from the front Jacques looks like he has his hair in a ponytail but from the back, it isn't and you can see his giant bald spot. I don't think hes human.
Halftime at rally Sweden. Kimi was 8th on this stage, his best result so far. (it was only a tiny stage - 1.8km)
Mikko is still leading but Loeb is catching up. Ogier is still going and holding his position although he lost his spoiler on the first stage this morning. #rally
Come on Seb (Ogier)! Still holding the faith.
And when I say 8th I mean 9th :)
actually I mean both. He is sharing 8th with Henning Solberg.
I'm not very good at this
not Henning but Matthew Wilson. Oh my *hides*
A quick MFC post: http://mediafuturechange.com/2010/02/13/how-to-report-the-news/
Wait, Jacques Villeneuve was at the Vancouver 2010 opening ceremony. He was one of the people carrying the Olympic flag.
Hey everyone.
Hey lou.
Hi Lou, how are ya?
feeling slightly better. I slept alot last night and no longer feel really really dizzy, just very coldy. how are you?
Good and busy, just the way I like it :)
:)
Today is a bad day so far. Football off because the referee who inspected the pitch a stupid o'clock this morning said there was a hard patch. It seems to be beyond his grasp that several hours later when the game is due to be played the pitch would be fine. Then I find out two people stole my lottery jackpot and got over £50 million each. Unfair!
Still I get to stay in and watch the rugby so hopefully Wales will be gentle with us
aww mum has made some cookies to try help me feel a little better :) too bad i cant really taste them.
so rude!
Hello all! Just posted on A Little Bit Piquet for the first time in a while!
i'm lazy... link?
http://wp.me/pKGQm-u
Pointless that. I remember having a game called off two days in advance due to a frozen pitch, even though the weather was expected to pick up.
w00t! :)
And, of course, I made use of my new privileges... :)
#rant
Football is ridiculous, every year their is a point where the ground is either too hard, too soft, too sandy or too earthy. they should employ players who are capable of playing on any surface.
Its probably beyond the imagination of most of the players that the majority of people who play football dont even have a grass field
Its probably beyond their grasp
Cookies are awesome, i mmight need to buy some. :D
They have the most awesome american cookies in the woeld at the shop down the road from me but they are over 6 quid a box :(
Trust me, having watched a non-league game where half the pitch was covered in mud, there is times you want it to be called off.
#dancer?
I could see the point if there was a genuine safety issue but it is little more than frost. Modern refs would be stunned if they were put in aa tardis and saw the kind of pitches and conditions people played in when I was your age
bah, mud makes ball sports fun. Some of the best rugby I've ever seen has been played in the mud.
:)
There should be 2 criteria:
1-can the ball roll
2 can the players run
if both are phisicaly possible then it is possible to play football
We have set up something new - a Sidepodcast Amazon store: http://astore.amazon.co.uk/sidepodcast-21
It only has a couple of books in there at the moment, but it's fun to play around with.
Did someone tell Heikki to sit up straight?
home made cookies are much nicer :P
I loved playing in mud... only problem is after 10 mins everyones kit looks the same, after another ten everyones faces look the same too :D
This isn't a probelm with the players. This is the officials. We had a game called off last season when both managers and all the players thought the pitch was fine but the ref found a square foot with water on it where the ball wouldn't bounce. Our star unpaid groundsman said he could sort it in 5 minutes with his fork but the ref said he couldn't wait for that despite him being the match ref so he collected his fee and left.
I have no idea. He looks like he's trying to puff his chest out!
want some.
morning. er. afternoon. feels like morning to me ;).
When I played rugby at school I used to dream of playing in mud
I havent used my oven since i have been here, i have used the microwave twice...
:D
Is it not a bit of a contradiction for #MFC people tp have a book store?
*shocked*... you should put that right and go cook something now....
Totally, I would play in any condition if it was up to me.
ooooo!!!
How are you going to make pancakes then?
No UK Kindle, sadly.
Easy... :D http://www.ihop.com/
Boo Amazon.
Are you just doing racing books or would there be any possibility of books with the odd page missing appearing?
Alison is expecting you to make some for her
but home made is much nicer ;)
Ooh, good thinking!! Will add it now.
All suggestions gratefully received :)
She is? Oh dear I think they got lost in the post!
Ah, yes... Don't think there's one near me, though, sadly.
The night before last she kept Bassano and I up till 4am trying to headping you to make her pancakes
I dont really have a kitchen
Also this must be one of the few places in the world where it is cheaper to get take out or go to a restaurant than cook for yourself!
wow!
Sold! I'm moving there! :D
Hehe, hopefully i distracted her by sending her something for tomorrow!
uh-oh.
Are we suggesting books from people who are connected with Sidepodcast in some way, or anything we think is good?
I don't know if Joe's old one about circuits is there in the 'used' section
ah.. you'll be going to get a few milkybars tonight then?...
:D hehehe
#milkybars
Or tomorrow morning!
F1 books, motorsport books, things that the Sidepodcommunity should know about. Have added Alex, which is not F1 or motorsport, so... anything, I guess.
That book is awesome, I reccomend it!
Also not just books. I added the Wii game just now.
I dont know if you saw this Christine, but you can now rent pandas!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8512979.stm
Ah okay. I'll think.
Anyone got $1 million?
If I had won last night's lottery I could have had 200 pandas
*checks pockets* sorry, $999,990 dollars short
Thats enough to train them up and start a GP team!
Kimis started SS13
Aw, thanks for trying though :)
Books and games added: http://astore.amazon.co.uk/sidepodcast-21
It's a shame there's no picture for the Atlas. It makes it kinda wonky.
I am amazed Craig Scarborough has never done a book. Girgio Piola has done a couple over the years so there must be a market for that kind of book
F1 review DVDs?
Ooh, 'Secret Life of Formula 1' as well?
Two more suggestions Christine. Brundle's take on a lot of the circuits he raced on with some of the stories of his adventures
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Working-Wheel-Martin-Brundle/dp/0091900816/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266069539&sr=1-1
Jackie Stewart's autobiography from a couple of years ago which includes a DVD with a lot of great stuff on it. There are also paperback and audio versions listed separately
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Winning-Enough-Autobiography-Jackie-Stewart/dp/0755315375/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266069573&sr=1-2
Ooh, yes, I've read that one as well!
Will add both now, and your dvd RG.
How can you be a rugby player with a name like Kelly Brown? Sounds like a 13 year old girl
there was once a wrestler called Shirley......
I remember her ;)
Amazon confuses me. I did a search for "jake humphrey" and got one suggestion which is a book on Scotland's economic prospects. Is he moonlighting?
Film Suggestions
Grand Prix
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grand-Prix-Disc-Special-DVD/dp/B000IHYBPA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1266070317&sr=8-1
Le Mans
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mans-DVD-Steve-McQueen/dp/B00009P9LW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1266070420&sr=1-1
Cor I didn't even think of Films!
sidepoodfilmwatch
Yes!
Do you have a one sentence blurb I can put about these, as I haven't seen either of them?
How about music?
The chain and the tracks itv used to use?
Grand Prix: John Frankenheimer's masterpiece with actors and F1 drivers mixing and genuine race footage from a camera car that followed the 1967 season.
Le Mans: Ferrari vs Porsche with Steve McQueen starring.
I can't believe Scotland are winning in the rugby. I thought Wales would win this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Autodrome-lost-race-circuits-world/dp/1845842405/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266071309&sr=8-3
Theres another suggestion for the "book store" .... I keep meaning to order it....
Ooh, okie dokie, thank you :)
is that the sam collins of race car engineering?
This idea of Christine's is going to cost me a fortune. I just saw a beautiful pewter model of an Auto Union that I really want and it is a steal at £205.
Lotus has a WSR team as well?
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81485
The store now has a main category of everything, and then breakdown pages of items like books and dvds separately:
http://astore.amazon.co.uk/sidepodcast-21
Oooh, toys and stuff!
Lotus Cars said they were going to get involved in several racing categories like sportscars etc but I don't remember WSR being mentioned
Oh it started *turns on*
I wasn't expecting to be in today so I'm feeling lost.
Dont know... i think you mentioned this book a while back.. there is an earlier version of it "Tracks around Europe" or something....
Well it is Lotus Racing so it's more to do with the new F1 team I think.
How could anyone resist Rosemeyer in an Auto Union and it is shiny?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Racy-Gifts-Union-Roaring-Rosemeyer/dp/B00281D2R2/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=kitchen&qid=1266071704&sr=8-14
It's nearly half time
that looks good, I'll have to remember that. on a similar note, for Christmas I was given a book about racetracks the public can drive on for free or a small charge. I'll look it up
Quietly announced a few days ago I think
if you buy it, please buy through the new store. we get something like 5% of the cover price, but you pay no extra.
presumably if we buy a copy we give ourselves the 5pc :)
This one has been on my list for ages. Look how rough that track is and they took that at way over 150mph
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Racing-Silver-Arrows-Mercedes-Benz-1934-1939/dp/0851840558/ref=sr_1_45?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266071824&sr=8-45
So you are more or less getting a 5% discount on this?
I laughed at Fourstar's latest tweets :)
- Oh great, JCB gone into a water main at the top of our road. Lots of men in hi-vis jackets on mobile phones looking into a hole.
- I would offer them a cup of tea but we haven't got any water. #ironywin
i think so, yeah.
not that we buy a lot of books of course.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-Motorsport-Routes-Illustrated-Reference/dp/0749552255/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266071877&sr=1-1
Cool, will remember that.... i think the "Lost Tracks around Europe" one is out of stock and only available though 3rd party sellers.... I have been hunting around the shops too for it....
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1904788319/ref=s9_simi_gw_p14_t1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1A6KBQQAPTHV04H7C8W3&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294
so if we are going to buy something else on amazon (not on the list), can we ask you to add it to the store then you get 5%?
Gascoyne's tweets are real.
F1Fans - @tonyfernandes @MyLotusRacing could you confirm if @MikeGascoyne is the real chirpy chappy? Thanks :)
MyLotusRacing - @f1_fans Yes indeed that's the real Mikey!

I guess the big question is will the full 12 hours of spqrisiko? be live streamed?

Hello all, just catching up on the amazon store comments. Just one question, where are the pandas?
Oh my... you are so right!
Funnily enough I am just looking at that category. That is overpriced.
For anyone who wants to be a racing driver or who wants to start understanding driving there are two books you have to read. The first is Bob Bondurant's who was an American F1 driver in the 60s who had a big accident and set up what may have been the first race driver school in the world. He has personally trained many of the biggest names in American racing over the last few decades and taught many of the actors who drove in the film Grand Prix

The second must read is by some bloke called Stewart who thinks he knows a bit about driving
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Jackie-Stewarts-Principles-Performance-Driving/dp/0905138910/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1266074231&sr=8-4

Hey folks.
Random rally thought:
Tony JARDINE is in Rally Sweden??
That is not unusual
I'm sure Christine has probably see this before... but...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1248678/Panda-monium-Sixteen-panda-cubs-pose-class-shot-day-nursery.html
I know he dabbles in rally but I thought he just does UK events now?
AAAAAAAAAH!
yes, and hes a couple of minutes behind Kimi.
According to Wikipedia (insert caveat here) In terms of his own racing career Tony has competed in four Arctic Rallies and ten Network Q Rally GBs, finishing second in class in 2001 and winning the journalists' award three times
He has done world championship rallies when they don't clash with the F1 season
My guess is Christine hasn't seen those before
remember I did a podcast, and somehow deleted the 1st track. cue a few minutes of silence. didn't notice until a couple of weeks later. {Comment #10}
My favourite blooper was the time when I did a podcast bemoaning Super Aguri's then-recent destruction. I was just about to talk about the last aspect of the problem when the following was recorded:
"Thank you for listening, and... ...er, oh there is one last thing to say... This is a platform alteration. [cut across giggling] The 20:48 Northern service..."
This is one of the downsides of recording the piece at Sheffield Station while waiting for a train. The bit in italics above was the PA system making an announcement, which was of course going to be of no interest whatsoever to people tuning in to listen to F1 stuff. Needless to say, the last thing I was going to say in that podcast did not involve platform alterations.
I almost forgot to edit it out of the main podcast, but it made it onto the internet as an out-take. Imaginatively, (it's called LCMBP - Outtake and can be heard from my NaBloPoMo playlist).
when the Jerez test ends the Year of the Tiger begins, at least over here :-)
All we need is a big coat, and a toy Panda to substitute the proper one.
Swap F1 with BTCC since last year, right?
Interesting.
Did I read Mr C tweeting that it was produced by the guys that used to do the Guardian F1 podcast? {Comment #13}
Yes. They also did the Force India one last year and I didn't notice anything comparable (other than the last few of the year not downloading correctly).
Kung Hei Fat Choi! :D
hehehe i got that impression.
Maybe I shouldn't tell her that the other day i was offered the chance to take part in a gap year experience (only about a month i think) in china where you look after pandas and learn about them in their natural habitat and within the panda centres. If only it didn't cost so much money..
yes, that will be the most spoken phrase in next 2-3 weeks :-)
This comment prompted me to go to the iTunes Store & search for F1. The first podcast shown was Sidepodcast, Yay!
Do you have any idea how many Milky Bars Mr C is going to have to buy her to distract her from doing that?
hehehehe #sorrymrc
My guess is wrong Betty is carrying the olympic flag and so is Jacques Villeneuve! {Comment #196}
Well done Jacques - being chosen to help carry the Olympic flag is a big honour.
gosh canada has a lot of awful singers {Comment #172}
I thought Nelly Furtado and Bryan Adams were good, to the point where I was wondering if it was possible to get a copy of the song from somewhere. The opera lady was OK, but I was still cleaning my ears out after the bloke who sung "Hallelujah" seemingly out of left field.
Still I get to stay in and watch the rugby so hopefully Wales will be gentle with us {Comment #270}
I think that message got lost in translation :( - even if they were losing the match last I checked.
Football is ridiculous, every year their is a point where the ground is either too hard, too soft, too sandy or too earthy. {Comment #279}
My local team needed four attempts to play one match last month, and then only made it because neither they nor their opponent could play their fixtures due to frozen pitches at their respective opponent's grounds...
Scotland managed to blow it.
They managed to blow it even worse than I thought. Great performance until one player did something really, really stupid
the girl who did the national anthem would have sounded lovely if she hadn't sung it at 1/4 the speed its meant to be sung at. Slowest.........song..........ever......
Hell of a comeback by Wales, even with the Scottish error
As soon as you go a man down in rugby it is a huge advantage to the opposition but once the second guy went it was inevitable that Wales would at least draw
They managed to blow it even worse than I thought. Great performance until one player did something really, really stupid {Comment #423}
Oh no :(
Just heard on the news that the luge track has been modified with a heightened wall and will proceed as planned
Someone in Britain one one of the tickets that got £56 million last night.
They should have done this before practice yesterday
Time for me to head out for a while. Catch you later
Just a reminder that Danica's racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona later.
If anyone missed the Olympic opening ceremony, it is worth a watch. When the Georgian team entered, everyone in the stadium got to their feet. Learned a lot about Canada too.
Admittedly I was on Twitter at the time and had some really nice chats with some Canadians so that may have made the difference.
I'm wondering whether or not to watch it.
also Piquet's truck race was rain-delayed, it should've been last night but will be tonight instead.
That was an amazing moment.
I've returned.
Ohh Kimi is looking good through this stage. Don't crash. Don't crash. Don't crash ...
The trees must be getting nervous now...
Ive just read they are continuing with the luge events straight away.
I cant believe they are making them do that.
It pretty much sums up the IOC and the whole Olympic movement.
How so?
They've raised the wall, and are starting from a lower point so the speeds aren't so high..
The men will be starting from the women's start which is lower down, slower speeds, less chance of an horrific accident.
Oh. Just heard :(
http://northernwaffler.wordpress.com/2010/02/13/winter-dangers/
Its nothing to do with saftey its to do with respect, for both the guy who died and the competitors who knew him.
The Georgian team are continuing, why shouldn't the competition?
For example, the ACN continued even after the shootings with the Togo team.
They didn't suspend the Munich Olympics did they?
That is a shocking incident...
6th!! No trees were hurt during the driving of this stage
Wooo!
Sordo and Grömholm had problems but still .. I am happy. And MrC will get some points.
How did Ogier get on?
You know I think you have a real flair for writing sir!
Aw thanks :)
What a shame, I was really looking forward to the Luge but I don't know if I can watch it now...
He was 4th on the stage and he is 5th overall about a minute behind 4th and a minute in front of 6th
Oooh, thats good.
Force India have just said on Twitter that Paul di Resta will get a run on the first day of the second winter test at Jerez.
Yesterday I had a really nice, healthy stir fry... vegetables and noodles..
Now I feel the need for a fry-up, bacon, sausages... off to buy some eggs :)
Sounds like me - Thai food last night, fryup today ;)
hehe i thought you were going to say you were going to stir fry the fry up!
Did you guys live comment the opening ceremony?
Don't talk about food after the supermarkets have closed. No fair :(
heh
A little. I was more on Twitter (and yes I stayed up) chatting with Canadians and Americans I know through IndyCar... and one other Brit who stayed up.. If I had been without that I would've just watched it this afternoon
I've just skipped to the end I am afraid...
The team walkthrough was as boring as ever (apart from the Georgia moment), I did like that they came in first though. The rest was mixed... It was technically very good with the video floor and effects. There was a bit too much dancing/ballet for my taste.. I liked that they told me about Canada's roots.
Awesome. I'll watch the news in half an hour and I am sure I will see it then...
Ski Jumping is on in 30 as well
ping: http://sidepodcast.com/2010/02/13/a-new-team-with-a-new-podcast-lotus-f1-gets-syndicated/
I was playing some MW2 and watching 28 weeks later. That's how much I care about the olympics!
Aww I care about the Olympics - there's some very cool sports (no pun intended) ... but I don't normally go for the opening ceremonies...
Someone mentioned the Jamaican Bobsled team early this morning. In case people haven't seen it, Cool Runnings is on BBC3 tonight at 9.25pm. Hopefully it will be up on iPlayer afterwards. It really is a must see film, in my opinion.
I'm sure I'll be watching some of it, the wife wants to watch some and show it to the kids. The winter olympics doesn't really grab me. Summer does sometimes, though.
I think it grabs me because the sports are so different...
They are much more of a challenge than the summer games.
Ah Cool Runnings really is an excellent film. It's sort of like Days of Thunder.
I love Bobsled, Luge, Ski Jumping, Speed Skating and some of the skiing events ... I never bother seeing them until the olympics is on...
I thought it was like Star Wars?
Things with skis on them usually interest me. But I'll probably be supporting whatever the British are in.
:D
there are Brits in the winter olympics?!?!??
we've had more snow than you.
(probably)
I don't mind watching stuff where people are going insanely fast down an impossibly steep mountain :). The freestyle skiing and snowboarding is kinda cool, too.
Now, if they had bobsleds racing rally cars, I'd be all over that!
Yep, sadly some deserted us.
*Stares evilly at Ghana*
I think we've had more snow than both of you. Something like 72" this winter.
There are actually some Brits who aren't half bad at winter sports these days. Especially in the Bobsleigh and Skeleton.
Our aim is 3 medals, with 52 participants.
That must be achievable?
My wife said to me last night that it annoys her a little bit whenever I make fun of Canada. I was like "Oh, come on, I make fun of the French WAY MORE than I make fun of Canada". "Yeah, that annoys me too"
I think I have to pick another country to pick on. Maybe Uruguay. She can't possibly have any feeling for Uruguay.
Ah good
Tell Bassano - he was looking to see it sometime
I concur
They should have a snow rally stage
I don't have any pics from Germany but this is the first thing I see when I leave my flat: http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/00022-jpg
Impressive... Unfortunately, I need to go out and shovel some more :(
oh.
hehehe :D
Anyone for a swing?
That is a lot of snow :o Think the most we had in this part of Northern Ireland this year is about four inches and that is the most snow I've seen in years. We hardly ever get any snow here.
DC's been driving a big, fast, shiny red Mercedes
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81495
!!
I hope he races it. His unique style would fit in cars with solid sides :)
Now that really is a proper Touring car! Wouldn't mind seeing DC racing in the DTM.
Maybe Top Gear should get DC for one of their *ahem* "bus/truck/truck+boat/truck+trailer/caravan" races.
Also, if anyone can translate Spanish these videos might be of interest. They give somewhat detailed looks at some of the new cars:

All 5 of my Fantasy WRC drivers in the top 10, promising!
I'd hoped for better, their Day 1 problems really hurt didn't they? At least they've not lost any more time, not really.
Petter must of had a good day, he was alot further down after yesterday was he not?
My fantasy team are doing well though. Currently they are 1st, 4th, 5th and 9th
Marcus lost another 10Min and 4Min
Ooh, here's a video of the Celebrity Kart Challenge race at ASI this year. Had no idea Ted and Lee took part in it!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJC-m85SXVg
Oh.. well Kimi didn't lose too much time relative to expectactions...
The rally continues tomorrow 6:52 am UK time
i just got really excited that Emily Davenport tweeted... then realised that she hasn't replied to my email yet which made me sad.
That is actually on Motors TV UK tonight after the WRC highlights
am having ted overload!
Do we need some kind of klaxon or alarm here?
Mine aren't :(
Tweet duly sent ;)
Danica's first Nationwide Series NASCAR race is going to start soon (the level below the Cup, and one or two above ARCA).
Here's some well-written words from MyNameIsIRL and Pressdog.
Oh thanks, I was just gonna mention it to him later :)
What's the song on this BBC highlights video of Valencia testing? I'm sure Lou said it was something by Biffy Clyro

oooh danica! :)
How ironic that my stream starts just as they listen into radio comms with her.
that isn't irony, that's how the coverage will be.
I dont think there is anyway to watch the olympics here at all!
I cant find any sign of a host broadcaster anywhere :(
And already there's a crash, and apparently a woman driver is involved, but it's not Danica. I'm not sure if I'm classing that as a good or a bad thing. :P
Wait, did they just say the second oldest driver in the race was 62 years old?
The first few cars hadn't even crossed the start/finish line and she'd already wrecked!
Oh and an advert already! Shocking! :o Oh wait, actually it's not.
No surprise it features Danica.
Pit guy just said "We'll keep an eye on Danica" when what he really means is "All we'll do is focus on Danica, literally all race."
Greengreengreen!
Another crash, this time in Turn 2. #99 of Brad Keslowski.
Not any more its not lol
Another crash... I think there are more crashes than in the big series...
or not LOL
like gp2 then.
There can't be as many as the last thing we watched.
They have a ticker running along the bottom showing "Danica's Schedule"!
40 car had the 99's rear corner in the air for about 2-3 seconds before it shot the other way into the wall. Just looked like the 40 kept his foot in the whole time.
I hope not
Ah Poo! We've reached the maximum number of streams for your country. To ensure 100% access to all Justin.tv video, please purchase a premium account
The little screen in the corner's showing that Speed Channel's showing BTCC.
that's new.
I had similar problems when trying to watch the Spurs game the other night.
Didn't miss much at least.
I had the same thing last time. Well fine, not so interested in this anyway. *wanders off to watch Olympics on good old TV*
Actually no. It happened a lot during F1 coverage last year...
Now why can't the Nextel Sprint Cup cars go back to these kind of cars? And anyway, I thought the Nationwide cars were going to go to more production based models like the Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang etc.? These Nationwide cars provide much better racing!
wait... are you lot watching nascar??
no. just danica.
um... a bit?
Olympics stuff comes on to BBC2 in 30mins so I may turn over to that
Yup, Nationwide series race at Daytona. With added Danica. Quite a lot of her so far, actually.
All your missing is Danica updates and then Danica adverts every couple of minutes.
Rubens and the boys at the footie
http://twitpic.com/13107h
thank god f1 is in about 3 weeks time then..
oooh dear...
I love the sound those cars make when they flash past the camera.
A lot of these drivers will be in the Daytona 500 tomorrow.
So you could say this is the equivalent of most F1 drivers taking part in the GP2 races, if they were allowed.
For Patrick going from ARCA to Nationwide is like going from Ford3000 to GP2.
daytona 500 is nascar? IRL?... #seriouslyknowsnothingaboutit
NASCAR is actually a little bit more interesting this year since they decided to open the regulations and the restrictor plate a bit.
(*Are you listening FIA and FOM?*)
NASCAR. Basically, it's NASCAR's equivalent to the Indy 500, if you like.
so the indy 500 is... IRL??.... i don't even know why it's called 500... #stilhasnoclue
Yup, Indy 500 is IndyCar, hence the name! It's called the 500 because it's a 500 mile, which works out to 200 laps.
NASCAR has three series. The top one is the Cup and their biggest race of the year is the first one, the Daytona 500.
There is a 2nd series called Nationwide Series and that's what we're watching now.
The third is Trucks (American term for pickups) which is what Piquet will drive later.
well... it could have been the name of the track...am trying to take an interest so i know why you guys are all chatting about..
NASCAR is technically a governing body with a number of series. The top three are the Truck Series, the Nationwide Series, and then the Sprint Cup series.
Drivers and teams are not restricted from running in other NASCAR series. For example Kyle Busch usually runs in all three series over the course of the weekend. Many of the Cup driver such as Earnheart and Stewart own Nationwide teams.
Danica is in one of Earnhearts cars.
So if you like:
NASCAR is to F1
Nationwide is to GP2
Craftsman Trucks is to Porsche Supercup
:P
If you are curious... http://www.justin.tv/slapnut_v5#r=RxsJQX0
*Sprint Cup is to F1
What does that make ARCA?
The amateur karting challenge.
but..they just go round in circles.. i think i'd rather get into rally than nascar.. it just seems...odd..
Its worse at Daytona. There are other races where drafting, car position and strategy mean more and they are more interesting.
I am not arguing NASCAR's case, but growing up watching a lot of oval racing, it can be exciting. It is just a lot different than road racing. It took me years to understand what was going on the track during an oval race.
it's really...really different. I think i prefer track racing as it's what i'm familiar with. Plus i'm not a huge fan of any of the drivers racing so that's not a pull either.
Following rally is a good idea, the problem is it isn't as easy get live coverage.
Wait... wait... wait...
Danica Patrick is in this race? I didn't realize that! I wish the commentators would of told me earlier.
I may watch the 500 just because Montoya is in it. But it is a long race. And I might not even be home, we'll see.
;)
Eurosport have big plans for covering the IRC this year. Loads of live coverage of the European rounds at least
Are the commentators paid by the number of times they mention Danica?
Is it as bad as John Madden with Brett Favre? ;)
Think James Allen with Lewis Hamilton X3
Now there's something they never did when F1 was on ITV - come out from commercials to go live to an accident.
Danica just got the Aaron's Lucky Dog Free Pass, which I think means she gets to go back on the lead lap.
I will give Danica credit, she does give back decent feedback
It is situations like this that make me think that Flavio runs NASCAR sometimes. ;)
BBC2's Olympic coverage is on if you want an alternative...
and Danica is out...
Big crash, Danica involved. Looks like her day is done.
Cars block the track, nowhere to go.
... and half the TV audience just turned off.
Looks like when she hit the other car, it bent her right front suspension which just sent her into the wall.
This is getting ridiculous...
Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica!
Oh, yeah Tony Stewart is in the lead...
Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica! Danica!
i don't understand why people like her so much, but there you go :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2D3-FkoXNU
Is this something new? She's been in the IRL a while and doesn't seem to get any more attention that any other drivers?
Does she have a new agent?
Hey Lukeh :)
Apparently you haven't been watching IRL :-)
Sorry, evening. My tiredness have rudely made me forget to say hello to everyone :(
Yeah, she switched her personal management company IMG. They are a top five personal management company.
:D
Maybe we just get different coverage.
It shows, she is so much more polished now in the interviews (a lot less "You knows") and has been a lot more aggressive in getting her in everything. They are pushing her to go to NASCAR because that is where the money is.
hugs for you, at least it's sunday tomorrow
it is :)
plus I got everyone talking about f1 in work today, which is good! I have convinced 5 people michael schumacher is evil :D
Oh yeah the race... I thought the race ended when Danica crashed out for a minute there.
A new MFC episode: http://mediafuturechange.com/2010/02/13/it-doesnt-work-like-that-anymore/
I'm no longer watching... I wanted to see how Danica got on, and now she's not in it my interest has gone.
Grrrr I want to watch the olympics but the buffering is too bad :(
WOAH! Big one at Daytona!
Earnhardt Jr went upside down. Red flag looks like it might be thrown.
Jr's car is finished. Absolutely totaled.
10 cars involved.
Christ....
I'm so tired. I've had a nap already today. Doing a late then an early without a day in between is not recommended!
Hey Alison :)
:( sounds horrible.
*shakes fist at stupid retail*
I had a nap as soon as I got in from work. I say nap, it was more a co-ordinated fall onto the couch and not waking up for a while.
I interviewed someone today that I think I'm going to hire though. Goodbye stupid shift patterns.....
Yeah. I called Nick when I got in and actually fell asleep while on the phone. You know when you fall asleep a little bit then jolt awake.... I feel quite sorry for him!
yay!!
Boo, I know how that feels. I know plenty about unwillingly falling asleep when talking to a loved one. *hides from lou*
Hehe I'd go mental if someone did that to me!
I have a terrible tendency to drift off when watching a DVD... even when I'm wide awake... I just go. then I wake up, realise, and feel really awful about it. :(
How odd. I like to fall asleep to the radio. I think that would make me quite cross!!!
Did Alex decide what to do after with his radio show?
Yes - he's not doing one because of this:
http://drop.io/sidepodcast/asset/video-50-wmv
If either my wife or I feels like that's gonna happen, we interrupt the other person and say "I'm sorry honey, but I'm just dead tired, can we talk about it tomorrow?" It's sort of an unspoken agreement and neither takes offense.
He gains my forgiveness of no show by providing an excellent and well argumented reason :P
that boy needs to play some Axis and Allies if he's looking for something more complicated than Risk ;)
hahahaha indeed ;)
hehe i don't mind. it's kinda sweet.
8 to go at Daytona and things are close!
You're obviously a lot more good natured than me. I'm pretty sure we weren't talking about anything important.... He probably missed the opportunity to break some bad news or something!
Tony Stewart wins with Carl Edwards just pipping Kevin Harvick for 3rd place. Kyle Busch got turned around in Turn 4.
some bad news like he isn't making pancakes?.. i was shocked when he said he hadn't really cooked since he moved.
Errr yeah it is pretty shocking. I don't cook a huge amount but I make fresh soup twice a week and tend to cook sensible evening meals every other day....
He would claim it's because he doesn't have a proper kitchen. He does have a proper cooker though and 3 cupboards width of counter space.... Just because the kitchen is down one wall of the hallway :P
It's the best driver in the world with one of the best footballers in the world, Kaka!
http://twitpic.com/131x63
:D
Nah, we all know its not a claim to fame unless you stand next to the best footballer in the world, Luka Modric...
Anyone else watching the Olympics?
What['s on now?
Nah, got Cool Runnings on.
Speedskating on red button
Woohoo!
This is what happened earlier in the Nationwide race:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6i71jfITZQ
Men's 5000m, they go in pairs but still have an overall leaderboard. They were all doing similar times then suddenly a guy goes 5 seconds faster, now someone has taken another 5 seconds off it..
Gonna retire for the day and watch Up (finally! never got a chance to see it in cinema) on dvd, looking forward to it :) Night everyone!
ooo i still haven't see Up either! bad times.
i hope it's as awesome as it's meant to be (no idea if that makes sense). Night!
Evening all
hello :)
Night Lukeh & hi Steven
Anything exciting happened in the last few hours?
they were talking/watching Nascar. I was really scared and confused so i've been doing some textiles, which distracted me from the time so when i thought it was 8pm it was actually 10pm, no wine for me tonight :(... have you had a nice evening?
My evening disappeared as fast as your's. One minute it was 6pm then it was 9pm
While I'm here I'm looking at random videos. Who wants to join me? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRq_SAuQDec
i'm pleased i'm not the only one who feels like they've lost hours..
Not really. We tried watching the Nationwide race to see how Danica was doing, then someone crashed and she hit them (unavoidable). Since then I've been watching the Olympics.
I lost 3 hours today. Lost half an hour not having my hair cut, 2 hours sorting stuff out and the last half hour's just whistled by faster than a Force India.
I find weekday evenings are like that.
cheers Steven :)
You were not around to plug yourself so I felt I had to
Well it's very kind. I'm only here very briefly so you may have to keep on with the role :)
If another opportunity to plug presents itself then naturally I will take it
Hey Giggles,
Good luck with your really long game that i have never heard of tomorrow. :)
I see Dank has started an Autosport League in the Fantasy rally competition. Only him in the league so far.
Oops, now I just spilt alcohol. I think it's time for me to go to bed! Night all!
Night
night!
ooowww :( textiles is an evil subject. that's the 3rd time i've cut my finger this evening.. :( bad times.
Can't you do something safer like explosives?
hehehehehe :D who'd have thought that cutting material could be so dangerous?
Wow it's quiet here tonight. I've just been preparing all my cameras for tomorow. I'm going into my local town to take photos which represent my 'thoughts on the town' which also have to include 'shots of active members of the community'.... I think Falmouth Uni hate me already, it's not going to be easy, my town is horrible!!
Are they setting you assignments before giving you a place?
yeah. basically cause Falmouth is one of the leading art/photography unis in the UK they get loads of entries, plus due to their 'unique location' they fine it's easier to give you a project, (8 shots for photography) and get you to send them in. They then judge you on those and you will/wont get an interview based on them. I just wish my town was nice enough/ had an active community. It's so hard to get an interview there :(
Today I had what is a great day by definition. I got up late (11AM...), had a delicious breakfast (chocolate and toasts with home made milk sweet), and took a bus to the base of a near mountain. I went up (2hs of walking in a beautiful sunny 60ºA day), had lunch with this view in front of me, and got back home in time to take a good shower and have dinner.
I LOVE this city... :-)
I certainly hope you licked all that alcohol up!
