Hello! Anyone for tea?
I hope you are ready for another wonderful day of sport! We have F1, tennis, Moto GP and Le Mans 24hour! Woah how on earth are we going to fit in things like eating, reading and well sleeping!
Right, on with the F1 side of things, Joe has promised he’ll be tweeting more over a race weekend so look out for that.
If you missed qualifying you can catch the results here. The race starts at 6pm UK time, later than usual but with all this sport this weekend it’s probably a good thing!
Also, make sure you catch Mav’s post about the 1973 Safety Car Fiasco.
Moving on to the next sport of the day, it’s the final of the AEGON Championships at Queens Club today. We see Andy Murray face Jo Wilfried Tsonga at 12 as they battle for the title. After Murray’s impressive victory yesterday he’s tipped as the favourite (yaay!) but Tsonga is a tough player so anything could happen! I hope you’ll be tuning it at 12pm (UK time) to catch this awesome display of grass court tennis. Murray has written a great column for the bbc website too, check it out here.
The mens single match isn’t the only tennis on today at Queens, the famous Bryan and Bryan brothers and doubles partners are taking on the Indian duo of Bhupathi and Paes (who I saw on Friday! Yaay!) for the doubles finals. I’ll be tuning into their match too. Doubles is such fun to watch!
Finally, last but not least, you’ll be aware the Les Mans 24hour race concludes today. We’ve got a live thread for all your commenting needs do tell us if you’re crazy enough to stay up all 24 hours, or if you’ve ever been to this great racing spectacle.
And now for our usual Sunday arty corner!
• I’ve been looking for a new lamp for my room, I think I may have found the cutest one ever! Although I kind of like these.
• Here are some beautiful photos taken from the ISS
• I love optical illusions, and these are great!
• Are you a space invaders fan? Would you decorate your house with a Space invaders theme? Well this person has.
That’s about it for me today, I hope you al have a wonderful sport filled day. Remember, stay creative and I’ll see you in the comments!
Hello new daily

Someone took a pic of this car on the road here in dubai.
It must have come from the future http://twitpic.com/588lfx
That's amazing!
I dozed off at 3.30am to calm weather and woke up at 8am to rain and heavy wind.. wonder if the MotoGP boys will struggle
Scarbs cleared up the engine mapping ban news that we thought was strange
After the teams protested, the ban wasn't going to happen. Now it is, for Silverstone. No wonder they're peeved, especially Red Bull
I agree with the ban though, hope it equals things a little. Bet RBR's qualy pace is hurt a lot
Hello hello hello!
It may be raining outside and a bit dull but today is going to be full of sporting awesomeness. :)
It will indeed. Murray is on shortly, I think.
Hi Lukeh, Christine
It seems to be raining everywhere apart from Queens, phew :)
Ohh maybe it is raining at queens, booo. :(
They were starting early and everything.
Maybe if we all blow at the clouds reeeeeallly hard they'll get blown away
the rain has an hour or 2 to stop or Murray's match will never get out of the way in time for the race and i wanna see Jenson and Murray win in an afternoon!
#ambitious.
Hello all!
Morning :)
apparently it's raining in montreal too, and le mans is wet at the moment. It is a very wet sporting day.
oh my goodness mum has made lemon and poppyseed muffins! :)
Wet at Silverstone too
Time for a MotoGP break. Brit Cal Crutchlow broke his collarbone yesterday. It's been an injury heavy season

Morning from Tundraland, on the same rime zone as Montreal.
Checking www.theweathernetwork.com, and found these two odd photos...
Mr C has been spotted in Montreal....

Suzi!
Hi Jordan
Some link issues there I tnk
MotoGP guys on their formation swim..
A very wet Silverstone
72,500 people at silverstone.
Not a bad turnout considering the weather, the clash with Lemans and the british rider getting injured and not racing
Rossi is gonna be interesting to watch coming throughout the field from the back
Stoner has dropped to the back even though he is on pole, didnt know you could do that
Wow, look at the Honda's go
I like Simoncelli
This just looks so scary
I'm watching a MotoGP procession. In the wet.
That's just wrong.
He he
Simoncelli: brain to elbow coefficient deficiency :)
I am enthralled, I have no idea how they are staying on or have the guts to race like this
They broke MotoGP
Getting better now
Aye
Think the engine capacity is going up next year
Ouch for Lorenzo
Awful awful lap for Yamaha.
wozers
woWzers
Waterproofs over leathers. Isn't leather waterproof enough?
Simoncelli off!
No podium. Again.
not again..
Suzuki 5th!
Properly off. Now walking
Puddle on the brakes
For those not following the LM thread the lead battle is down to 8 seconds with thirty minutes remaining. This never happens! Usually they are laps apart by now.
Cheers Pat, will switch back after the MotoGP for the last few laps
If anyone is near manchester and fancys doing something different for the British GP... maybe you could go to a massive outdoor cinema?
http://tinyurl.com/6emmnta
how cool!!
Audi has the edge with newer tyres.
Doohickey is keeping me updated though ;)
[sorry Mr C]
Not if it rains :)
you wouldn't go if it rained tho?..
Yeah, I know. Just thinking the British GP and bad weather go together
:D but Manchester is ages away from silverstone :) but yes, it probably still would rain :)
It's quite wet outside, unsurprisingly.
http://twitpic.com/5ajqsi
Is there anywhere today that isn't wet? Seems every sporting event I've tuned into has involved rain or will be wet!
Sunshine here :)
Can we have a bit? Just a bit, for the tennis? Pleeeeeeease?
You can have more than a bit, i would quite like to get rid of a lot of it!
Awesome. Lemme go find a lassoo.
Alonso is up to his old tricks following people on the way to the circuit :P
http://twitpic.com/5ak1zh
Nope. Works fine for me....
It used to be that only over the radio, it was getting harder and harder to tell the difference between Motorcycle Racing and Jet-ski racing..... :P
so a biiigg build up for the GP then?
Wow, fair enough :)
The sunshine here is so thick you can almost WALK on it......
Speaking of which .... Giggles Radio ?
There isn't one today
not today.
Martin brundle has an exclusive new role today
http://yfrog.com/gzbnychj
If you're going to the Goodwood Festival, several of the cars which competed in this race will surely be there. Some not even cleaned.
Interesting article on Windows mobile indifference by the networks sales forces: http://www.electronista.com/articles/11/06/10/us.carrier.shops.downplaying.windows.phone/
Dammit :)
Did well with lack of crossthreading though
Looks like the BBC are doing a pre race red button thing from 4:30 UK time
Have realised a lot of people will be happy today with the track being wet and the pet hate drs will be disenabled.
Red Bull: The rain in Montreal is very damp. Bad for both groundhogs and fans, good for those wanting to witness Pirelli wets.
Damp, the only way we like our rain. None of the dry rain for us! Currently , 30KM north of the track) it hasn't rained for a few hours. 100% overcast and nothing but a soothing breeze.
no play for murray until 4pm at the earliest.
Good news is if there are less than 2 hours of non consecutive play ticket holders can get their money back, which is nice :)
Hello all
@karunchandok
Still raining at circuit- can someone please check what odds I can get for Bernd Maylander in safety car to start from pole & win the race !
Hello default daily, I've missed you!
Pic from 5Live http://yfrog.com/h3xv8lhj
I've got a mate coming over for a BBQ and the race. I hope its a good one ;)
If McLaren really do have a wet set up they are going to disappear today.
You have to question though whether F1 should be more about the ability to forecast weather than technical and driving prowess
Let them change set up in the mornings again
in the absence of any tennis i've uploaded some of my best pics from queens on friday onto my flickr.
comments as always are appreciated :)

Rubbergoat: 12/06/2011 at 15:10:32I've got a mate coming over for a BBQ and the race. I hope its a good one
If you are rating your BBQ skills that poorly, why did you invite over? Or is your mate going to be on the BBQ? :P
Never can tell with these people descended from Vikings...
McLaren chose their 7th gear yesterday based on what the wind was going to do today. The other teams obviously have to do the same.
Weather forecasting has nothing to do with motor racing
They dried the court with paper towels? Madness.
You went to Queens? How was it?
He's bringing a half kilo of lamb and pepper sauce. We'll be fine!
I bet they used Bounty. That stuff sucks up everything.
It does a bit, got to know which tyres to put on if you see rain coming, but the day before is mad
yep! there was a little damp patch and after about 10mins they decided paper towels were the best way forward - mclaren esque :) then once they did that they moved Delpo's match from that court to court 2 :/ hehe!
amazing! debating blogging about it :)
Forecasting an hour ahead is fine. FOrecasting 30 hours ahead when there is no need for it is a huge negative for me
Good pictures. I conclude that lines people and ball people get in the way a lot.
The German wins for Red Bull! It's his first win here!
DO IT
*oh, that's for 125cc. :D
That in tennis and fences in f1. Can't win in any sport!
they do! and they get hit alot too! poor people. Delpo hit the same girl twice, she didn't look very happy :(
You have to drive to the conditions, and indeed set the car up for them. If they gambled on sacrificing yesterday's performance for a better setup today, that's a roll of the dice, and that's the way racing goes sometimes. The other teams chose their own setups, had access to their own weather reports... McLaren took a gamble and it looks like it might pay off. And given how tricky wet weather can be to judge when it's actually happening half the time, full credit to them!
Anyway, a win for anyone except Vettel please. Even Alonso... *quivers* ...but ideally Button or a miraculous Williams coming from absolutely nowhere. Don't want to see someone racing into the distance in the title race (and Williams need the points!)...
I see you tweeted Kait, thanks :) She'll be very happy when she wakes up.
certainly did! it's her fault i have soooo many of Del Potro! ;)
Ken Block to drive an F1 car!!!
THe things Pirelli do for publicity
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/92276
But surely we want to see the best competition possible. Surely we should have teams setting the cars up knowing the conditions rather than taking a wild guess a day ahead.
I don't want a world title decided by the team that has the best weather forecaster
Wow, if he did some Gymkhana stuff in that...
Yeah, parc fermé is crap.
I went to bed at 8.30 in an attempt to get some sleep tonight. I think I fell asleep about 9 and woke up at midnight, so it's better than nothing.
Now I'm eating chips and M&Ms in an attempt to fill myself with so many calories I don't go back to sleep :D
No reason why he couldn't. He would just need a bit more space than normal to do it
Bye all. I am going to find my breakfest and ger ready for the grand Prix.
It is really sunny outside but cool. Lucky it is cool. I would have been very upset if I could not dive on a hot humid day due to the canadian Grand Prix.
Without refuelling, experience of such situations and teams taking gambles are prob our best way of seeing results like Fisichella winning Brazil 2003, I'd've thought?
I'd rather see tactical gambles pay off than see the best teams being allowed to play conservative and being rewarded for it by being allowed to change set up.
...but then I like the turbo idea too. I'm odd...
@andrewbensonf1
Montreal drizzle predicted to continue all day, getting heavier. Bad spray in support races - high chance of safety car start in GP #BBCF1
I am not a big fan of drivers lucking into wins. I want to see the best battle it out and whoever does the best job wins.
:(
I would like the turbos if they gave them another 4 bar of boost
True, but it's nice to see the little guy win sometimes. The best drivers have the big prize of the championship to go for anyway; what chances do the small guys have of even getting close to that?
I won't argue with that. I'm too young to remember the Turbo era really :(
A lot of fans are, which is why I think they are opposed to the idea.
THe good thing with all the info we have now is that we can see what is happening all the way through the field. One lucky result can totally distort the view of a driver. Look at Force India. Sutil has finished ahead of diResta twice but on both occassions the car scored points so he has a lot more points despite Paul dominating all year
That's the one thing about the rain I don't like...
I am against the new turbos because I remember the old ones
lukeeeeeh your websites dooooown.
All day I've had a comment in my head to make and now I'm finally on a computer I can't do it :D
i hope the rain is good news for JB.. however i hope we actually get a race. Been looking forward to the F1 all day!
I know, it's my crappy hosting. Every so often it just goes down and I can't do anything about it, I can't even get on my admin stuff.
What I really, really, really would love to see is both English drivers take themselves out in the 1st Corner the BBC switching over to Connie Street and miss di Resta lapping the field for the win.... :p
I'm just wary of a lame attempt at reintroduction
I shall comment when it's back up :)
Yes, and wet weather can emphasise talent. The "little" teams being able to fight nearer the front, potentially for wins in such conditions, draws more attention to that talent further down the grid...
yay :)
#sorryamy
Go on.
Though yes, safety car starts aren't good; anticlimactic really. I also kind of miss the days of red flags and full restarts for start incidents... though the safety now is a positive of course.
uh oh, all flights in and out of Melbourne are suspended due to Chilean volcano ash.
Good thing I'm not going anywhere :)
...it's been 4 years since the red flag was thrown for an accident at the start of a race. O.o
Old ones were the ultimate in technology. The maximum that it was possible to do. Proper racing engines. The new ones are pathetic imitations of those. THe turbo in the new engines is just there for show because they could achieve exactly the same performance from a normally aspirated engine.
BMW had 1500bhp from 1.5 litres in quali set up and raced with over 1000. We have had 20 years of engine development since and the new ones will produce 650 from 1.6 litres.
Before the turbos came in a 3 litre Cosworth barely produced 500bhp. Now we have to de-tune a 2.4 litre engine to keep it to 750-800.
THe new turbos will be as exciting as a Ford Ka
I saw that on the news and my first thought was 'what about Amy, does she have a flight coming up?' :)
Totally agree. God forbid anyone goes too fast these days
Good news for Schumi! :D
as long as no volcanos decide to get busy in 3 months or so, I have 4 weekends in a row that I'll be in 4 different countries :D
Perhaps, though I'm thinking more towards the latter end of that tweet... *does a Rubens dance*
Singapore, Korea...?
andrew Benson just tweeted that the rain has STOPPED in the Montreal paddock.
Australia, New Zealand
Showers for most of the afternoon
Aus doesn't count ;)
its still a 4th country :D
Aye. Want the track to dry so we can start properly without the safety car, but not too much due to setups...
Damp would be ideal
Mr Spark has been replaced by the creator of Assassins Creed.
I wonder if he can spell Heikki.
Well yes but it's the origin :)
Yay for travels though
Replaced? Not in addition to?
Seems harsh
only 2 weeks until my parents head in a Bassano-ward direction. I'm still quite jealous :)
Do they need any pub recommendations? ;)
Hope they checked him for hidden blades, I dont think they should let anyone wearing them near a pitstop
I await sparkteamlotus photos from on top of buildings and free running then.
Sharing more due to the longer range forecast of this tweet...
my uncle might, he likes a glass or twenty :)
They're staying at a B&B in London and it turns out it's just around the corner from my cousins flat and she walks past it on her way to work every morning. They didn't even know what suburb she lived in when they booked it so they're rather happy that catching up with her will be very, very easy.
I think if Trulli doesn't make the most of today Lotus should come and give me a ring, I'll step in for him :)
well done :)
Yas? :)
Indeed. There was overtaking and everything :o
Sometimes the virtual world IS better than life :D
I suppose if that's what we get it will suck. I'm suddenly not very optimistic!
i promise if i get to be a Spark person i'll spell Heikki correctly, i'm a bit enough Lotus fan to at least be able to do that ;)
Did he also add that it would make it THE GREATEST RACE EVER?
It will be no different to what we have now with the engine sorbet. Racing engines that are only stressed if Adrian Newey wraps them too tightly. Engines are no longer a factor in F1
I hear that news is exclusive.
It will struggle to be the greatest race today
I posted earlier but for those who were in the LM thread.
Scarbs confirmed that the EBD overrun ban was called off after the teams protested. That's why it's news again and the teams, especially RBR, are hacked off
Also, McLaren have posted this pic of Jenson's nosecone... http://twitpic.com/5alqzn
Qualy may be exciting agin from Silverstone
I'm guessing this is all Ferrari and McLaren have, while RBR have more under their sleeve. They may dominate by even bigger margins from Silverstone.
Why? RBR's qualy pace is hugely reliant on this, I'm guessing
In race trim they aren't unbeatable
If they're so reliant on this, why are other teams complaining too? Surely if only RBR was gaining massively, they wouldn't complain?
Because it helps them too and goes someway in equalising the field. The front runners don't like it and the midfielders can't waste the money
ohhhh!!!!
Just been announced play was going to start at 4:45 but the covers have just gone back on centre court again. If play is postponed until tomorrow people get their money back for today and tickets for the final tomorrow go on sale for £10!!!!!
Kinda hoping play doesn't happen till tomorrow now (sorry Murray!) but £10?!? i kinda wanna go....
They all must be asking 'what are you doing here?'
http://yfrog.com/h8a0ifoj
I smell a spontaneous tennis trip occuring ;)
I was just wondering if you'd be able to go. For 10 pound you'd be silly not to!
If it happens, do it!
i'm doing nothing tomorrow, but for £10 i'd cancel plans anyways! :D
am just hoping i could reserve them online.. but hell i'd get on the first train to london at 6am if it meant centre court tickets to see a Murray final! :)
Bassano 12/06/2011 at 15:52:10Australia, New Zealand
Aus doesn't count ;)
Amy 12/06/2011 at 15:52:33Aus doesn't count ;)
its still a 4th country :D
Bassano's right, Amy. My Kiwi cousin views Australia as NZ's "West Island"....:p
never ever wanted it to rain as much as i do now :)
I imagine it'll be first come, first served at the door
He he
early morning for me then. gates open at 10:30, how early (if they cancelled it) would i need to get there do you reckon?
Oh yes, made my Breakfest. Bacon and Eggs. (Sunny side up). Might be an interesting challenge for a mr. C cooking show.....
8 or earlier. What's the capacity of Centre Court?
Get there for 8 maybe? although I have no idea :)
pssha bacon and eggs...I found some maple flavored sausage...some eggs, hashbrowns, salsa...breakfast burrito
is the build up meant to be starting now online? or do i have my times wrong?
and I got an HD copy of qualiy with just enough time to watch it before the race. WIN!
I'm trying to find it but nothing on BBC website. They did say 4:30 though...
Yup, read button stuff only I thought
ahh good so its not just me who can't find it :)
Unless Benson meant that the online stuff was the live updates page. But that isn't there either.
erm no clue.. 8 i can do..

Hi folks.
hehe i like Andy :)
Is there anything the players could do to entertain spectators during rain breaks? Interviews? Autograph session? Karaoke would be great!!?
https://twitter.com/#!/andy_murray/status/79934877012729856
Potato Chips in Tundraland.
Karaoke on centre court is a must. Those videos amy shared from roland garros were brilliant :)
Come join us in the Race Thread Jordan :)

best news ever!!
If there is no play on Sunday 12th June, all ticket-holders will receive a full refund, and the final will be rescheduled for 12.30pm BST on Monday 13th June, with tickets priced at £10. Tickets would be available on the AEGON Championships website - www.aegonchampionships.com, and on the gate from 10am on Monday.no early morning either!!!
That's your day sorted then :)
i love tennis players on twitter :)
@andy_murray
@DjokerNole why don't u come over to queens and we can do our first live version of autograph with @Bryanbros!
:D
totally want this to happen.
Novak didn't say no -
@DjokerNole
@andy_murray I would loooove to do that, but I am stuck at LUTON(London) airport! If you wait for another 60-70min,I can be there..
:D

Well I am now in hospital. Don't know when Andronov Jr. will be arriving. Sometime this week tho... Sensible name suggestions only please :)
ahh just as I hoped after I realised its a public holiday, I am the first one in the office :)
Yeah, someone posted that earlier but can't blame anyone for missing it
Is that a good thing, tv remote?
i did ;)
oh, it was just retweeted 1 hour ago.
I'll have to see which hospital they're in
Could be Em's
I think a few people follow Kat too, Lou obviously does
I can't imagine a Baby Giggles :)
Hope everything goes well.
ohh! She's not there for a few weeks, but that's cool!
What a crazy epic weekend, I'm in a complete daze
Not sure if that's Alex's local or not
me too.
just nice and peace and quiet, I don't think theres anything worth watching on tv at the moment :)
streets were nice and quiet on the walk here too and its not too cold out. Breakfast hash brown tasted like oil so that wasn't good but bacon egg and cheese wrap is delicious. An A+ morning so far.
Did Alia sleep throughout the F1?
Did you get any sleep? Queen's later ;)
about 3 hours before the race. Should be home by 4.30pm so we'll see if I zonk straight away :)
look out for me if it rains! i'll have my honda umbrella :)
plus I know where you're sitting so thats helpful.
Have a good evening everyone, I'm off to do my work while I'm still awake enough to do it :)
Bye Amy
Bye Amy, have a good day
yes! eeeekkk!!
have a good day at work Amy!
i feel a bit.. spaced out.. what can i do now? it's 11 and i should get some sleep but i can't. any idea how long it'll be till the stuwards decide if JB will be given a penalty?
Not worth much, but FBFB replay: http://sidepodcast.com/post/canada-2011-race-highlights
Mrs C can i send you a voicemail when i stop bursting into tears every so often?
Voicemails always welcome.
Actually, even more so this week. Someone in the podcast needs to have seen the race :)
Not until we know the result won't change
#cynical
i'll send a voicemail of me crying if they change the result to correct my first one ;)
okay, will pull myself together so there aren't any 'on top of the moon' esque embarrassing comments ;)
:D

Christine, when's the deadline for voicemails?
Tomorrow sometime, I expect.
Superfan Alex snaps the track invasion. One or two fans:

December then?
I just realised that was the first JB win Ant Davidson hasn't commentated on!
Closing down, reckon I need a screen break for a while! Goodnight..
Night Pat. I'm zombified myself.
Seeing as Christine & Mr. C didn't see the race, can we have a sidepodchat about it?
will try and watch the highlights tomorrow. no time for sidepodchat's at the moment, sorry all.
Nah it's ok - was just a cheeky suggestion ;)
it's okay, i'd only cry anyways :)
