With the regular season over, let the playoffs begin; we’re now on the final stretch of the road to Super Bowl XLVIII. This weekend the third and forth seeds in each conference host the sixth and fifth, respectively. On Saturday the Kansas City Chiefs (last season’s worst team) are at the Indianapolis Colts, lead by last season’s #1 Draft pick QB Andrew Luck (21:35 Sat – Sky Sports). Later the wildcard New Orleans Saints play the strengthening Philadelphia Eagles (01:10 Sun – Sky Sports). On Sunday the San Diego Chargers face the Cincinnati Bengals (18:05 Sun – SkySports). These two have already faced each other this season; the Bengals were narrow victors first time around. Finally, last year’s Super Bowl losers, the San Francisco 49ers are at the Green Bay Packers, who are getting healthy on offence at just the right time (21:40 Sun – Sky Sports). Winners in the AFC will face the Broncos or Patriots, and in the NFC, next up are the Seahawks or the Panthers.

    Evening all.

Still time to get an entry in for the Playoff Challenge: http://playoffchallenge.fantasy.nfl.com/

Set up a team, then find the sidepodcast group :)

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:10

As it's all on Sky, I'll be watching tomorrow night. Tonight, just picking up what I can find. NowTV tomorrow., Gamepass isn't very useful in the postseason :-(

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:14

Gamepass isn't very useful in the postseason :-(

    There is that.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:36

The Chiefs & Colts are taking to the field... Kansas City on O first. Here we go

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:37

any players in your team tonight?

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:37

any players in your team tonight?

Nope, none. I've got a lot of byes, I've only 1 playing this week.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:39

    How about you?

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:39

    How about you?

Charles, but that's it. Two others this week. AJ Green and someone else. Rest are all Broncos or Seahawks.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:40

Smith does some escaping with his legs, but misses an open TE

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:40

Smith does some escaping with his legs, but misses an open TE

before Charles went down? That was a nice run.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:40

Charles, but that's it. Two others this week. AJ Green and someone else. Rest are all Broncos or Seahawks.

AJ Green is my guy tomorrow at 1805.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:41

before Charles went down? That was a nice run.

Yeah. It was a decent gain, but it looked like there was one of the 2-bunched TEs who was very open.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:44

Yeah. It was a decent gain, but it looked like there was one of the 2-bunched TEs who was very open.

Yeah, but the way Smith plays is always about first downs, moving the chains. Nothing big. As long as it gets a first down, it's good enough for him.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:44

...hence why I dropped Dwayne Bowe in Fantasy - dropped him like a stone.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:45

Looks like it's to the locker room for some concussion protocol for JC.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:45

    Fantasy curse struck already

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:46

We saw last week that the Chiefs backup RB Davis was a decent runner (against a poor SD D) but JC being injured will mess up 68% of people's playoff challenges.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:47

that's a flag in the regular season

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:48

And the man who was dropped like a stone catches the TD.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:48

And the man who was dropped like a stone catches the TD.

He was useless in the regular season (compared to so many other WRs)

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:49

Decent drive. No third downs, were there?

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:49

Apart from on the last play, I think

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:49

Decent drive. No third downs, were there?

That last one was a 3rd, unless there was a last minute penalty that ruled it out.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:52
  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:54

If the Colts do the length of the field for a TD on this drive, this promises to be a long game :D

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:57

Good separation by Hilton on that TD

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:57

That was even easier than the Kansas TD> No D showing yet.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:58

That was even easier than the Kansas TD> No D showing yet.

Winners will be whichever D show up.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:58

    ...eventually.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:58

152.6 QB Rating on that drive for Luck.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 21:59

152.6 QB Rating on that drive for Luck.

    Meh.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 21:59

    Meh.

    Smith's was 121.4

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:02

    Evening all

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:05

I thought he was going to pass the ball to the guy who was following him

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:06

I thought he was going to pass the ball to the guy who was following him

    me too

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:06

Some awful attempts at tackling there

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:06

Anyone who has Bowe in their team is already well in the points.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:07

Anyone who has Bowe in their team is already well in the points.

    Unfortunately not me

I thought he was going to pass the ball to the guy who was following him

Mike Carlson just tweeted the same thing

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:08

They should go for it. Field position is great if they fail.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:10

    Evening all

    Evening.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:19

Honestly, Alex Smith is so much better than people give him credit for.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:19

    Colts secondary evaporated there

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:19

Stepped up at the perfect time, threw it at the perfect time, right on the money. Couldn't have played that any better.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:19

Honestly, Alex Smith is so much better than people give him credit for.

I think his reputation took a hit because he was pushed out of SF by Kaepernick

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:20

    I'll be honest, that's a surprise lead.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:20

I think his reputation took a hit because he was pushed out of SF by Kaepernick

yeah, and that was only because CK can run. Not that Smith can't...

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:22

    Love this

    https://twitter.com/FauxJohnMadden/status/419594247780564992

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:23

What was he doing passing the ball from one hand to the other in tight coverage like that?

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:23

Honestly, Alex Smith is so much better than people give him credit for.

I don't think the dink-&-dunk scheme this season helped his rep.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:24

(Baby^ bedtime meant no hands for typing for the last couple of series.)

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:24

I don't think the dink-&-dunk scheme this season helped his rep.

No, but he executes it superbly. People get too hung up about explosive passes. They forget this sport is fundamentally about moving the chains. If you keep moving the chains, you win.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:25

(Baby^ bedtime meant no hands for typing for the last couple of series.)

Just as well you are not a Colts fan or Baby^ would be awake again

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:25

No penalties yet, though we did have the no-call on an endzone hold

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:25

No, but he executes it superbly. People get too hung up about explosive passes. They forget this sport is fundamentally about moving the chains. If you keep moving the chains, you win.

Then if the D turns up, and it looks like they've remembered to rush the passer, then the opposition finds it much harder to score.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:26

    Lovely shovel pass!

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:27

    Lovely shovel pass!

That was brilliant. More space on the replay than at first glance.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:27

    Lovely shovel pass!

I always love to see those because you know they are not planned and players are thinking on their feet

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:28

Looks like KC are really missing JC, having to move more towards the pass is a real burden.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:28

Only the completion ratio stopping Smith having a perfect rating right now.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:29

Looks like KC are really missing JC, having to move more towards the pass is a real burden.

Maybe it is the new master tactic. Pull your star player out and screw up the plans of the opposition's defence

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:29

earlier I was thinking they'd be made to pay for only getting an FG on 2nd series.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:29

Maybe it is the new master tactic. Pull your star player out and screw up the plans of the opposition's defence

do you think that's why the Pats got rid of Welker?

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:30

Currently the only Colt in the ideal Fantasy line-up is the TE Fleener.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:30

do you think that's why the Pats got rid of Welker?

Only if Brady turns into their leading rusher in the playoffs

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:30

Maybe it is the new master tactic. Pull your star player out and screw up the plans of the opposition's defence

Do you think the Colts' safeties now need to offer more over the top support?

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:31

Do you think the Colts' safeties now need to offer more over the top support?

They may as well blitz as sit back and let someone run through them llike the second TD

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:32

They may as well blitz as sit back and let someone run through them llike the second TD

There is that. Chiefs seem to have their number.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:33

Colts' O is also toast if Hilton is out for too long.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:35

    Hilton back.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:36

Have to go for 4th and 6 inches

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:38

    Nicely played.

I was expecting a quarterback draw until I saw where Luck lined up

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:38

I was expecting a quarterback draw until I saw where Luck lined up

    He's a master of the when-necessary scramble.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:41

ok, question: what's the latest time you think the last game tomorrow will finish?

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:41

Colts need a stop. (Statement of the obvious)

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:42

ok, question: what's the latest time you think the last game tomorrow will finish?

    0230 Monday.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:43

    0230 Monday.

it's more likely to be no later than 0130, right?

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:43

JC is OUT for the rest of the game (official).

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:44

JC is OUT for the rest of the game (official).

    fantasy fail

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:44

it's more likely to be no later than 0130, right?

    Yes

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:44

I'm trying to work out what time to activate the NowTV pass.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:44

    fantasy fail

Assuming the Chiefs win, you'll still get double with him next week.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:44

I'm trying to work out what time to activate the NowTV pass.

    Ahha - understand.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:45

Assuming the Chiefs win, you'll still get double with him next week.

I won't want him next week though. I just wanted loads of points rushing through the Colts' D tonight.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:46

I won't want him next week though. I just wanted loads of points rushing through the Colts' D tonight.

Fair. He'll likely be up against the Broncos' D, so not nesc a good match up.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:47

it's more likely to be no later than 0130, right?

Yeah 0130 (-0200 if you're unlucky, -0230 if the weather or another blackout comes to town)

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:49

Yeah 0130 (-0200 if you're unlucky, -0230 if the weather or another blackout comes to town)

Hmm, next question is, how long do I want to stay up tonight? Saints vs Eagles... should be close.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:49

If I make the end of this game I will have done well... I'm definitely not going to watch the late game.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:50

I'm always amused by the way they always cover their mouths.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:51

I'm always amused by the way they always cover their mouths.

And show the opposition half of their plays?

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:51

And show the opposition half of their plays?

    that too :-)

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:51

also, when did Andrew Luck start growing his Amish beard?

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:52

also, when did Andrew Luck start growing his Amish beard?

He has had his neard for ages (since last season?)... it's now just out of hand

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:53

He has had his neard for ages (since last season?)... it's now just out of hand

Fair enough. Think this might be the first time I've watched them this season.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:53

neard being his neck-beard, not a typo.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:53

    Great running for the 1st.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 22:53

Is Smith trying to negotiate a new contract? He is doing things he normally never does

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:56

I think Smith has Bowe in his fantasy team this week.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:57

    Double shakkas was the call.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 22:58

Kansas lead by 21. If the Colts can get a TD before halftime, it's not awful, because they get the ball in the 2nd half.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 22:58

Kansas lead by 21. If the Colts can get a TD before halftime, it's not awful, because they get the ball in the 2nd half.

And then because Luck is so good at leading game-winning drives.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:01

Best rushing average in the game: Andrew Luck. Second-best: Alex Smith.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:01

If that was RG3, he would've fumbled the ball as he fell on it

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:02

If that was RG3, he would've fumbled the ball as he fell on it

If that was RGIII, he wouldn't be in the playoffs! :-)

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:02

If that was RGIII, he wouldn't be in the playoffs! :-)

    Accurate.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:04

Interesting fact, this season's Chargers are 4-0 against teams playing today.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:05

    pick

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:05

When you are 21 points down and have just been sacked don't try to force a pass and get intercepted

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:06

Looks like Peyton has left some of his January nightmares in Indy.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:09

I like how the Chiefs were still going for it at the end of the half.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:10

This is going to take an incredible comeback from the Colts to win this.

I only hope they saw what Texas A&M did to Duke a week ago

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:14

This is going to take an incredible comeback from the Colts to win this.

We've seen plenty of teams do it this season, but I somewhat doubt it.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:23

    Another interception

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:23

That is not how to start the half (or even play any time)

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:23

    Oopsie.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:25

    Too easy.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:25

    G A M E O V E R

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:26

    Bring on the 50-burger.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:27

I didn't expect Luck to throw so many bad passes

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:28

The Suck for Luck campaign is taking on a new meaning.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:28

The Suck for Luck campaign is taking on a new meaning.

The sucked so they got Luck. Now they have Luck and they still suck

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:29

Sounds like a cold day in Philladelphia. Hundreds of people shifted tons of snow from the field and grandstands

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:29

The Broncos pretty much know they'll face an AFC West rival next weekend.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:30

    Great pass and catch

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:30

    That's more like it.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:32

Colts TD? What happened? I last saw the KC TD

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:33

Colts TD? What happened? I last saw the KC TD

Huge bomb to Derrick Rodgers, then Brown made himself skinny and ran it up the middle.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:34

Damn Americans with their food adverts!

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:35

Damn Americans with their food adverts!

Didn't look like any Burger King I have ever seen

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:36

After Harbaughbowl last year, I'd love to see Alex Smith bet CK in the Superbowl this year :-)

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:36

Didn't look like any Burger King I have ever seen

Me either, I could quite easily go for all that stuff on the grill right now.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:36

KC don't need Charles. They should trade him to NE.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:37

After Harbaughbowl last year, I'd love to see Alex Smith bet CK in the Superbowl this year :-)

That could be interesting. Since we also had the Manningbowl how about Peyton and Luck next season

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:37

We would likely have Peyton-Luck next week if the Colts can manage to win this.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:38

We all saw that fumble coming from three seconds away, didn't we?

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:38

    Colts need to recover that

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:39

    I think that's a good recovery.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:39

That might be overturned - looked like he was still bobbling it as he did his final roll OOB.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:39

That might be overturned - looked like he was still bobbling it as he did his final roll OOB.

Yes, but the view is concealed, which makes that hard to overturn. His other hand is planted, I think.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:40

Yes, but the view is concealed, which makes that hard to overturn. His other hand is planted, I think.

There is one shot that does look in from between his legs, which until then I thought he was solid. Now I'm less certain.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:41

Hmm, I'm leaning towards not a recovery now, actually.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:41

Apollo 440 being played in the studium?

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:41

But if you're indecisive, play stands. So it stands.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:42

Not enough evidence to oveturn that.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:42

Comms called it a challenge. Silly sausages. By rule, it's an automatic review. I hate that rule, but it's the rule.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:42

But if you're indecisive, play stands. So it stands.

I thought that he did not have possession but it was one of those calls that was never going to change the ruling on the field regardless of what that ruling was

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:43

Comms called it a challenge. Silly sausages. By rule, it's an automatic review. I hate that rule, but it's the rule.

I heard them say that, and I've gotten used to automatically ignoring the mistake.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:43

I thought that he did not have possession but it was one of those calls that was never going to change the ruling on the field regardless of what that ruling was

Yep, totally. Can't rule by instinct on replay.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:44

I heard them say that, and I've gotten used to automatically ignoring the mistake.

It's just, the rule's been there for two years. They know the game inside out, supposedly. That's a basic mistake.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:45

    TD Colts.

Jost keep giving the ball to Donald Brown

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:45

It's just, the rule's been there for two years. They know the game inside out, supposedly. That's a basic mistake.

I kind of think that they've been working the game for many more years before the rule, so it gets said on auto-pilot. Should be an easy correction tbf

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:45

Good play call. KC were a mess along the line

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:46

    2-score game.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:46

Cheifs WR Donnie Avery ruled OUT.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:47

That was a really innocuous knock.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:48

    Or, it was in-knock-uous

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:48

That was a really innocuous knock.

They are often the worst. It's like players who go down with no-one near them in football

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:48

Losing CB Brandon Flowers, not to be confused with the lead singer of the Killers, will seriously hurt defending against Luck's deep bombs.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:49

Losing CB Brandon Flowers, not to be confused with the lead singer of the Killers, will seriously hurt defending against Luck's deep bombs.

I think it's his back rather than his head, but I'm not sure.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:49

I think it's his back rather than his head, but I'm not sure.

Dunno if he makes it back before the Colts' next possession.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:51

Dunno if he makes it back before the Colts' next possession.

If he's gone to the locker room, I'd say doubtful. Maybe back in 4th.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:52

I can see KC slowing their offence down, taking time off the clock.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:53

Chiefs are benefiting from resting their starters last week. Need some backup this week.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:54

Looks like giving all their backups a whole game to get up to speed is proving a great decision.

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:55

They need to speed up a bit. Only 75 mins 'til 2nd game is meant to start. It's slowed down a lot.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:56

It would have been interesting to get an interception off the heel

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:56

I was after a blocked punt. Can never get enough of those.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:57

I was after a blocked punt. Can never get enough of those.

    Or a fake punt :D

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:58

Flowers was a head hit. Evaluating for concussion now.

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:59

That looked like Hilton tried a QB hand off

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:59

    INT?!

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:59

    fumble

  • Steven Roy04/01/2014 at 23:59

    INT?!

That was bad all round by the Colts

  • Noelinho04/01/2014 at 23:59

    Interception. Receiver didn't have possession.

  • Will^04/01/2014 at 23:59

well, bad dropsies more than a fumble

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:00

You don't win when you're minus three on turnovers.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:01

You don't win when you're minus three on turnovers.

I think the Bengals managed to against the Ravens last week, bu tthe Baltimore's only offence is Justin Tucker.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:01

It was better when it was Billy Cundiff :-)

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:02

It was better when it was Billy Cundiff :-)

    I missed that one.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:02

    I missed that one.

    So did he :-)

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:03

The practise field goal kick seems to have become popular this season. Every time a time out is called the kicking team justrun through their play

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:03

    So did he :-)

Lay up - no one could resist dropping that punchline.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:04

Forget the Bengals-Ravens comment, it was 4-3 on turnovers.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:07

Great play by Luck to avoid the hit and then make the pass

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:07

    Luck is a beast.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:07

Darn it. Website backup just started and it's killing my bandwidth.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:08

Never normally NFL on a Saturday evening for it to get in the way of.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:09

Never normally NFL on a Saturday evening for it to get in the way of.

    I just cancelled it.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:09

    TD Colts.

    10 point game

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:09

Fleener and Luck were at college together IIRC.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:09

    TD Colts.

missed it. I've killed my conenction :-(

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:11

Fleener and Luck were at college together IIRC.

Commentator earlier on was talking about someone who was at Stanford with him but I can't remember who

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:11

    are we on 1st down?

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:12

1st and 10, just caught by Bowe

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:12

1st and 10, just caught by Bowe

I'm with it then, albeit with full audio but 2fps

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:13

    I miss fibre.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:14

Commentator earlier on was talking about someone who was at Stanford with him but I can't remember who

It was those 2, both at Stanford. The Colts took Luck in the 1st round in 2012, then straight away picked Fleener in the 2nd round.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:15

    3rd quarter FINALLY ends!

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:15

That was a pretty big quarter.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:15

10 points in it at the end of the third. Far closer than I expected it to be. Colts could be leading if they had not given aways the easy interceptions

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:17

That could have been the game

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:18

That would almost have been the game.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:18

    4th down

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:18

Luck now has more passing yards than Smith.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:21

A huge completion to TY Hilton

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:22

did the Chiefs turn it over on downs, or punt?

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:23

    got to 4th, so punt.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:23

Chiefs are looking weak at cornerback

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:24

Colts should just keep running it down the left and then throw over the top.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:24

Although they'll need more distance to throw for that obviously.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:25

Too far away for a QB-keeper?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:25

Ridiculous. Fumble - recovery - TD

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:25

    WOW, just wow!

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:25

    YES! WHAT A PLAY!

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:25

    Holy...

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:25

    What an interesting game.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:25

    Holy...

    Hi Kai

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:25

    Holy...

hey! What a time to join.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:26

    Amazing skills by Luck.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:26

    Amazing skills by Luck.

    Great presence of mind.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:26

    What an interesting game.

It didn't look very interesting at half time but now anything could happen

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:26

Despite all those picks, Luck and Smith are tied on fantasy points.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:27

I have/had JC and the KC Defense. harumph.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:27

I have/had JC and the KC Defense. harumph.

I had the KC defence for most of the season but I ditched them for the playoffs

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:27

I have/had JC and the KC Defense. harumph.

Chiefs D with 8 points isn't awful, but then they might not be around next week (at this rate)

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:28

Chiefs D with 8 points isn't awful, but then they might not be around next week (at this rate)

Would be a good thing for the health of all of their hurt players, but bad in every other way for them.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:30

If the Colts hold the Chiefs to a FG, then score a TD, that'll be the lead.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:30

    1 point for JC.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:30

    That's the #2 RB who's down.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:35

3rd and long - Smith looks dejected.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:36

I want a punt, then an Indy FG, then OT. Although they won't like that in Philly.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:36

I want a punt, then an Indy FG, then OT. Although they won't like that in Philly.

Does the KO get pushed back during the playoffs?

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:36

Does the KO get pushed back during the playoffs?

    I think so.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:36

He got the 7 and another 20

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:37

Does the KO get pushed back during the playoffs?

    yes. They're both on NBC.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:37

    yes. They're both on NBC.

    That'll do it. :)

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:37

    Presumably Fox have tomorrow's?

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:37

    Timeouts getting burnt

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:37

    Presumably Fox have tomorrow's?

    Yes

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:38

    Presumably Fox have tomorrow's?

CBS have game 1 and Fox game 2

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:38

CBS/Fox have all next weekend's games

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:39

CBS has Chargers and Bengals at 1:00 EST

Fox has Packers and 9ers at 4:30EST

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:39

Actually CBS/Fox have every other game except the Pro Bowl which is on NBC

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:40

Actually CBS/Fox have every other game except the Pro Bowl which is on NBC

May as well be on Nickelodeon.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:42

Well, OT is off now, tbh

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:42

Well, OT is off now, tbh

Miss the Xpt? Fail the 2pter? I agree, unlikely.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:45

Miss the Xpt? Fail the 2pter? I agree, unlikely.

Working from the premise that, occasionally, unexplained accidents happen, and these should be ignored, OT is off.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:48

If they keep going at this rate the Chiefs may have no players left next week

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:49

Is this due to strong tackling by the Colts, bad luck or fatigue by the KC players?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:50

Is this due to strong tackling by the Colts, bad luck or fatigue by the KC players?

I haven't seen anything untoward from the Colts

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:50

I haven't seen anything untoward from the Colts

Me neither, and only 60 snaps too. Chiefs have snapped 72 times.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:50

    TD Colts

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:50

    WOOOOOOW

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:51

Like I said, throw it over the top and you've done 'em.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:51

    Colts lead, Colts lead

Didn't expect to be saying that.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:51

THe only problem with that is there is still a lot of time on the clock

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:51

I haven't seen anything untoward from the Colts

I didn't mean they were doing anything wrong, just tackling well.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:52

THe only problem with that is there is still a lot of time on the clock

Yes. And if anyone can wipe the time off, it's Alex Smith.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:52

THe only problem with that is there is still a lot of time on the clock

That is my issue, but then the way the Colts' D has been playing this half, that isn't as bad as it could be

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 00:53

I didn't mean they were doing anything wrong, just tackling well.

Some of the injuries have happened when there is no obvious cause.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:53

Is this due to strong tackling by the Colts, bad luck or fatigue by the KC players?

20/22 KC starters supposedly had a week off last week.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:54

A TD and XP would tie record for most points in a playoff game.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:55

But they would need the two point conversion if there was time left.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 00:55

20/22 KC starters supposedly had a week off last week.

So this all just sucks, then. :S

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 00:56

    3rd and 17 then.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:56

Although, if that failed, they'd lead by 5. But I'd still risk it. More likely to work than a failed PAT.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:59

Remember when I said they should go for it on 4th and goal on the 2? Mmm. Importnat now.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 00:59

    That's incompetent.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:00

    That's incompetent.

    What? I was getting Stollen.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:00

    OOB

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:01

    ooBowe

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:01

Reid took a TO straight after the 2:00 warning.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:02

Reid took a TO straight after the 2:00 warning.

He was poor with timeouts in Phily

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:02

-3 on turnovers and they win. Not one and done. WOW.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:02

I still can't believe KC lost

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:03

Luck has the most 4th quarter comes backs in his first 2 years than any other QB.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:03

Jay Feely telling everyone he'd kick it. Although he's biased, he's got a point. Compare 4th & 11 vs 61-yard attempt?

  • Journeyer05/01/2014 at 01:03

Luck has the most 4th quarter comes backs in his first 2 years than any other QB.

Just woke up in time to see the 4th quarter. WOW.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:03

Luck has the most 4th quarter comes backs in his first 2 years than any other QB.

    News to me.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 01:03

Just woke up in time to see the 4th quarter. WOW.

What a finish. A mess for KC.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:04

    News to me.

IIRC - he has 10, I think that's the most, if not it's close.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:04

Of course, my Power Rankings predicted the Colts would win.

THe thing is they were worse than the points difference suggested. Colts were just giving the ball away

That was a great start to the playoffs.

One of those stories custom-made for NFL Films, no doubt.

Next game fact: Brees and Foles went to the same high school.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:09

You can imagine what the film would be like if the COlts won the superbowl

It's 26F/-3C in Philly right now. I'm glad they didn't play last night in the righteous cold we had.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:12

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 01:15

I just hope it's a good game. I'm a new fan of LeSean McCoy, so I'd like to see him do well, and the weather favors Philly. I can get behind either team to move on. No clear favorite for me.

  • Journeyer05/01/2014 at 01:15

NO-Philly? After what we just saw??

Hands up everyone who got a mention in the editorial in this month's Motor Sport?

    what for?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:20

tell me you were created as "the steven roy from the podcasts"?

Sadly not. I have spent years on the internet giving arguments, points of view etc on F! and I make it into a magazine for arithmetic.

Damien Smith quoted a tweet saying that the only change double points would have made last season was to tenth place in the championships

  • Mr C05/01/2014 at 01:20

Damien Smith quoted a tweet saying that the only change double points would have made last season was to tenth place in the championships

    amazing.

For doing maths, I love it

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:21

The editorial was on the subject of the proposals for double points, fixed driver numbers etc and quoted a few tweets

  • Journeyer05/01/2014 at 01:22

Sadly not. I have spent years on the internet giving arguments, points of view etc on F! and I make it into a magazine for arithmetic.

Can't argue with arithmetic, I suppose. Frame it!!

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:22

For doing maths, I love it

For all these years I have been trying to provoke discussion and now I have found out that counting is the way to the press

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:22

For all these years I have been trying to provoke discussion and now I have found out that counting is the way to the press

So many people can't do it or can't be bothered ;) It works for me as well.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:23

Can't argue with arithmetic, I suppose. Frame it!!

I might if it was for something profound I had said or for something I had predicted but not for arithmetic

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:23

Maybe they should have double points for every race? Makes the maths simpler.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:23

THey already give 2.5X the points

  • Mr C05/01/2014 at 01:24

omg! they really did (just bought it). well done sir.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:24

You didn't go and buy it just because I got a mention. That is crazy

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:24

Did the Colts punt at all tonight?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:25

I wonder if I can get commission on extra sales

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 01:25

I said I would go to bed after the first game, now I might just watch the first drive for each side.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:25

it lasts 24 hours. I need to know the last game will be finished 24 hours from activation. Because the last game is the biggie :-)

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:27

Colts punted once for 45 yards according to Game Centre stats

  • Mr C05/01/2014 at 01:27

    And 58 first downs - that's huge.

can't say enough good things about them. i'd buy two if sky didn't limit users to four devices. xbox is probs just as good mind you.

Sky Go limit you to two, or at least used to. Was a real pain when I had the onlnie only sub - one had to be PC; if I was at home, I'd want to use Xbox, but then couldn't use iPad if not at home. I had to plan my devices around holidays. Ridic!

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 01:39

Also, could you not just use two accounts, or is that too much hassle?

it'd cost twice as much? not a problem for daily sport, but for the monthly entertainment pack that's just wasted money.

    yay for on demand!

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 01:53

Anything was going to be an anti-climax after that

That was an awful kick. From the moment you heard the noise from the boot, you knew it was going nowhere near.

True, but does anyone really believe the beanbag is ever thrown that accurately?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 02:13

Sometimes it is really accurate. I know before ball bearings were banned as a filling one was thrown so accurately it hit the ball carrier in the eye

The nascar stuff wasn't just ok. The country bumpkin history of racing in this country puts me off, but it is the history of how that racing started. I just find nascar pretty embarrassing.

His trash talking is embarrassing to me, too. Makes him look weak trying to impress those guys. I grew up around that with my dad drag racing. My dad didn't like the trash talking and didn't do much. I guess that's where my distaste for it came from. He let his driving do the talking...and mostly won. ;)

Yep. He was really good in the first part of his career at Dover Drag Strip in Wingdale, NY, then when my sister and I got older he did well later. He raced brackets. Tons of trophies. We ran out of room for them all.

Each driver predicts the time it'll take to do the 1/4 mile track. Whoever comes closer to that time without going over wins.

OK. I have heard of that. Seems almost counter-intuitive to not go as fast as you can but I guess the skill is balancing what your car is capable of and driving to a percentage of that and not exceeding it

It takes knowing the car, how the weather is affecting it, the track surface, your reaction time, and if you should get off the gas before the end...if you're ahead of the guy.

Yeah. My dad loved it and asked me if I wanted to do it. I suppose he would've given me his car in his will, in retrospect, but I never even wanted to try it. It didn't appeal to me. I was immersed in racing culture growing up, and I love that, but I wanted to turn corners. It was always road racing for me.

It's one thing giving you the car but you need someone to keep it working. Especially when you need it to perform consistently to have any chance of hitting your time

I remember the first time I started up my Formula Ford. I had just bought it and was 'borrowing' a mate's garage. 3 of us spent two hours trying to start the engine before we realised the fuel tank was empty. None of us were mechanical geniuses.

We eventually got it started around 8 pm and my mate was in the car playing with the throttle. The next door neighbour came out and was most upset as he had just got his two kids to sleep.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 03:16

I really like his commentary. Maybe he just doesn't care what he looks like.

Better than the guys that care too much.

Too bad I have Graham instead. haha

I would have chosen Graham too

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 03:27

Lewis is hurt. Not sure what happened but he grabbed the front of his helmet.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 03:28

Eagles have only about half the total offence yardage of the Saints. Didn't expect that. When McCoy has less than 50 yards this late in the game you know they are in trouble

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 03:28

Lewis is hurt. Not sure what happened but he grabbed the front of his helmet.

    Sweeting is in for him.

I said they needed more McCoy

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 03:32

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 03:33

20-14 Saints with :32 left in the 3rd.

Dry and no wind for them. that's good.

    Missed on 3rd and 4.

Have to go for the field goal

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 03:53

Saints stopped too. Trying for a FG.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 03:59

23-17 Saints with about 7:40 to go in the 4th.

The Saints win means no Hawks-'9ers game possible next week, but sets them up for a meeting in the NFC championship (wins permitting).

  • john05/01/2014 at 11:14

feel for the Kansas city fans, geez I thought it was only the dallas cowboys that could lose games that way, makes sense though the chiefs started out as the dallas texans before moving to Kansas so maybe its a dallas curse type thing. great game though.

glad the eagles are gone. cant stand them, new orleans will have a tough game next week in seattle though.

of tomorrows games, both could go either way, the bengals in a close one over the chargers, and im thinking the 49ers will be too good for green bay but with Rodgers anything is possible.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:04

Evening all. Bengals just choice to receive in the 2nd half.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:06

The rather petit Danny Woodhead to return KOs for San Diego today.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:15

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:24

    Nick Hardwick, the veteran Centre.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:27

Having to use a backup Centre would be a big loss for anyone - weakens the protection through the A-gaps, increases the chances of mistakes on the snap, and the Centre often marshals the OLine's protections. Although it seems ok so far...

It happened to the Charger earlier in the year against the Broncos - they were up, then it fell to pieces.

Ooopsy. Rivers isn't as good at improv as Luck.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:33

I had been all week thinking the Bengals would win, but hoping otherwise, but just before KO I changed my pick to the Chargers :)

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 18:35

I just checked the Chargers depth chart and they have Woodhead listed as 5' 8" and 200 pounds. Must be the slimmest 14 stone 5'8" I have ever seen

It sounds quite fun, that 2 ex-stars are drafting their squads from the voted-for pool.

But what's going to make the players play any harder?

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:54

But what's going to make the players play any harder?

I agree that is a big issue, and the draft doesn't solve that.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 18:55

Nothing is going to make the players treat it like a competitive game

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:56

One alternative I've heard is to take the 2 worst teams, and have them play the wooden-spoon bowl, winner gets the 1st pick in the Draft.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 18:59

Play hard enough and you lose your job to a college kid?

Hmmm, true... Play hard enough and give your Franchise the best chance of succeeding next year.

Sounds like a worse idea the more I think about it.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:01

Sounds like a worse idea the more I think about it.

Besides who wants to finish the season watching the worst teams. I like the idea of the Pro Bowl being an all star game but that doesn't work now that players from superbowl teams can't play

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:02

Besides who wants to finish the season watching the worst teams. I like the idea of the Pro Bowl being an all star game but that doesn't work now that players from superbowl teams can't play

I do like the idea of an all-star team, but they don't seem to take it seriously any more.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:05

It's a bit awkward when they mention OJ Simpson on the NFL coverage.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:06

It's a bit awkward when they mention OJ Simpson on the NFL coverage.

More or less awkward when they are forced to mention all the pieces NE have lost between last season and this?

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:08

More or less awkward when they are forced to mention all the pieces NE have lost between last season and this?

Players come, players go.That's NE. Problem will be when Brady goes.

    Bad challenge.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:12

Jeff Triplette submitting the whole match report at once in an effort to look competent.

Maybe someone in the stands is transcribing it for him

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:13

    Urgh.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:14

    He made a football move.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:17

Almost took his arms off with the ball

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:18

I don't really think that's close at all.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:18

Securing the ball in his hands and turning looks like a football move

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:18

Full speed I would have said he didn't have possession but on the so mo he definitely had control

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:18

He made a move, Butler smacked the ball out. Easy decision.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:19

If it was outside two minutes, you would challenge. But you'd lose.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:20

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:20

    nope

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:20

He gets two in the playofs.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:24

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:29

    Great defence there.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:29

Hang on, they're trying to review a play after another has gone off?

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:30

If they are reviewing, what happens to the spike?

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:30

Hang on, they're trying to review a play after another has gone off?

Don't think they are allowed to do that!?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:30

Hang on, they're trying to review a play after another has gone off?

That has happened quite a few times this season. They are making up the rules as they go like Bernie

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:30

Don't think they are allowed to do that!?

    They are not

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:30

    Officiating craziness.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:31

So they'd reset the clock and erase that spike?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:32

So they'd reset the clock and erase that spike?

    Yes

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:32

In that case the whistle should have been blown at the point forward progress stopped

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:33

The clock is still at 2 seconds not 12 or 13.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:34

...Should have reset the clock and allowed them to rerun the spike.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:35

...Should have reset the clock and allowed them to rerun the spike.

No, you set the clock to whenever the call to review was made, but ONLY IF the whistle is blown BEFORE the spike snap. Otherwise, you can't review. I think the latter happened.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:35

Looks like another Triplette screw up. Clearly he only thought about forward progress after viewing the replay. There should not have been a review after the spike and if he was going to do that the clock should have been reset

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:35

No, you set the clock to whenever the call to review was made, but ONLY IF the whistle is blown BEFORE the spike snap. Otherwise, you can't review. I think the latter happened.

    ...ok.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 19:37

    ...ok.

But they wiped the spike off, so they're claiming the snap happened after the whistle.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:37

But they wiped the spike off, so they're claiming the snap happened after the whistle.

Ahh yes, got you, that makes sense.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 19:57

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:57

If we learnt anything from week 17, it's play to the whistle.

    Absolutely

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 19:58

So I don't fault him too much, it's not like he ran off after the refs had killed the play.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 20:01

We had it pass over a bit back.

    Interception

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 20:23

He did what It thought hew as going to do one play before.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 20:24

it's almost as if the Bengals' and Chargers' Ds have swapped places.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 20:27

Even after resetting the game clock, it was wrong. THey put 23 on instead of 28.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 20:30

I don't understand why the QB would come back with the ball in that position. Let the RB come to him and the worst you get is 4th and 1

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 20:34

Looks like the Lambeau grass has emigrated

Not over yet, but the Bengals don't look good.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 21:10

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 21:23

That was another brilliant game :D

That may be a little bit of an overstatement

I am going for the 49ers in the next one

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 21:24

The remaining AFC teams are the Broncos, and 3 teams that have beaten the Broncos this season.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 21:25

That may be a little bit of an overstatement

I was saying that with a fan's hat on, not a shade on yesterday's 1st match.

    I've gone for the '9ers.

Hard to think the Packers are without Clay Matthews.

Kaepernick really needs to have more to offer than a run to the right and desperately hoping for a guy to be open on the front pylon.

Fair enough, it was just because the shout was in the middle of the play. BTW, terrible punt. Just too cold?

Fair enough, it was just because the shout was in the middle of the play. BTW, terrible punt. Just too cold?

I went back and checked. The call I posted is just before the snap. After the snap it sounds like turn turn

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 22:15

Why does Kaepernick need to have his plays on a wrist band. He already has enough ink on his arms to incorporate them all

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 22:17

So close to a delay of game

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 22:21

    Lang with great reactions there.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 22:22

At this rate the '9ers will have rebroken Rodgers' collarbone before he completes a pass.

    Two sacks from three dropbacks.

It's their only hope right now, from the looks of it.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 22:28

It's their only hope right now, from the looks of it.

There have been big turnarounds in recent games and for all their dominace SF only have 6 points

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 22:29

All it takes is one big Lacy break-though (esp as Rodgers isn't doing much in the air)

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 22:29

There have been big turnarounds in recent games and for all their dominace SF only have 6 points

Hopefully the Packers can neutralize the SF defense and actually complete a pass or two.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 22:30

    That will do!

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 22:30

Interception. That should bring the crowd into the game

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 22:31

I knew that would be an interception. All I could hear was "tick, tick, tick" on the thread - it had to be!

Scared that was going to be picked off.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 22:41

Don't think Kaepernick came on field in 3rd Q w/ his play-calling card on his arm. When he realized it, he had to call Timeout.

Is there no other way for him to get it from the sideline after that one play? He needed a timeout right then?

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 23:34

Any substitute could bring it on

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 23:35

Is there no other way for him to get it from the sideline after that one play? He needed a timeout right then?

Well, if someone else is calling the plays, probably. Remember, he's still a young QB.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 23:35

    Exactly.

Well, if someone else is calling the plays, probably. Remember, he's still a young QB.

I know. I hope it doesn't come back to bite him later. That's just irresponsible and he can't do that in the playoffs. Hopefully it doesn't matter. I like him a lot. That was just a bad move.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 23:37

    Pretty sure that's a joke. :)

Nope. The NFL are crazy protective about their plays.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 23:37

Nope. The NFL are crazy protective about their plays.

    Steven was making a joke.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 23:38

Well, if someone else is calling the plays, probably. Remember, he's still a young QB.

He should know all the plays and be able to get them signalled into him if necessary.

I remember an interview with someone at the Colts a few years ago. He was asked what made Manning special. He went on to tell about Manning going through every play in the book with new players. He would go through play after player asking what they should do different if such and such happened. He expected all the relevant players to not only know every play but to know what to do in almost any situation.

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 23:38

    Steven was making a joke.

Ah, thought you were saying I was joking. Yes, I realised it was a joke :-)

Ah, thought you were saying I was joking. Yes, I realised it was a joke :-)

    oh good. I couldn't tell. :)

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 23:39

He should know all the plays and be able to get them signalled into him if necessary.

Only problem with that is that the 49ers' OC generally calls from the boxes, rather than the sidelines, so Harhaugh would have to call the play.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 23:40

Only problem with that is that the 49ers' OC generally calls from the boxes, rather than the sidelines, so Harhaugh would have to call the play.

Just got the play off before the play clock ran out. Very risky pass

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 23:48

Game finishing before 0130 looks like a good bet.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 23:49

Still a very close game. Could go to O/T

I am sure they won't mind as long as the Packers win and they don't get hypothermia

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 23:53

    Just thinking of Noelinho's NowTV.

It has to finish by 1:40, so it'll be fine.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 23:53

I am sure they won't mind as long as the Packers win and they don't get hypothermia

Don't lose too many fingers, toes or beers.

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 23:53

    Bruising run

  • Noelinho05/01/2014 at 23:54

Don't lose too many fingers, toes or beers.

At least you can drop your beer in that weather.

  • Kai05/01/2014 at 23:54

At least you can drop your beer in that weather.

True! And still have it later on. It'll be cold.

  • Steven Roy05/01/2014 at 23:56

If that was a 1st down it was by a millimetre

  • Will^05/01/2014 at 23:56

Sky commentator said that streak ends now

  • Kai06/01/2014 at 00:02

99 doing a little ballet on the line. :D

  • Will^06/01/2014 at 00:02

Sky commentator said that streak ends now

I can't see the Chargers winning 3 more, maybe beating the Broncos (again), but it's too soon for a deep playoff run for them.

  • Kai06/01/2014 at 00:02

    WOW!

  • Steven Roy06/01/2014 at 00:02

    WOW!

    WOW indeed

  • Kai06/01/2014 at 00:03

    Amazing he got away.

  • Will^06/01/2014 at 00:04

  • Kai06/01/2014 at 00:12

    Nice run.

  • Will^06/01/2014 at 00:13

I'm tempted to say that generally does, but I know what you mean :-)

  • Will^06/01/2014 at 00:31

I do like the look of those capes/cloaks the climb into while on the sidelines.

Yeah. They look cool. Like superheroes. :) I hope they've been kept in a heater of some kind so they're toasty.

They should have heaters built into them

I'm half expecting them to have electric blankets stitched into the liner.

  • Noelinho06/01/2014 at 00:34

    That was a game chance.

    SF win

  • Kai06/01/2014 at 00:46

I picked SF so I'm pleased, but I do like the way the Pack play, esp now they have a running attack.

  • Will^06/01/2014 at 00:47

    So much for home advantage

Only the Colts upheld home advantage?

  • Noelinho06/01/2014 at 00:47

Green Bay would have been mashed at Candlestick. They're nowhere near as good.

Would have been nice if the last game at the stick was a playoff

  • Noelinho06/01/2014 at 00:48

Would have been nice if the last game at the stick was a playoff

    yes, would have been great

  • Steven Roy06/01/2014 at 00:48

The mistake that mattered was letting Kaep run for 10 yards on the last drive

  • Will^06/01/2014 at 00:48

Would have been nice if the last game at the stick was a playoff

It can still happen. The NFC Champs game will be at the Stick if the '9ers and Saints win next weekend

  • Kai06/01/2014 at 00:49

    yes, would have been great

and SF wins with a last second FG. *the crowd goes wild*

That's what I love about the playoffs. Weird things can happen. Most of what I read this week didn't happen.

  • Steven Roy06/01/2014 at 00:51

Kaepernick. It's not that cold out there.

    I don't believe him

In a lot of cases one play can turn a game. That and how people cope with pressure can turn a game upside down

  • Noelinho06/01/2014 at 00:52

    Yup.

Cracking games. Not a bad game next week.

He also asked the reporter to make it quick, so...

  • Steven Roy06/01/2014 at 00:54

That was a really good first weekend of the playoffs. Not a single blow out and every game had something different
