I was slightly confused why this week's episode didn't have the usual naming convention - pastry, sweet dough, cake, etc. Turns out, we're at the quarter final stage already! And the BBC explain what our bakers will be facing in the Bake Off tent this time: "This week's challenges test them on how they cope working with unconventional flours and unusual desserts which push their creativity to the max."
The Great British Bake Off - Quarter-Final

Baking day. The stuff they have to do this week sounds scarier than ever :)
Also, I was browsing some of the recipes from last week's episode and was staggered at the number of ingredients required for Frances' musical puff pastry stuff: http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/musical_puff_pastry_36650
There must be a supermarket doing a roaring trade near the bake off tent :)
Evening.
Psssst. Favours has a "v" in it ;)
Nonono - I've read it again - "flours". #facepalm
Hehe, that's okay, I didn't write that bit anyway. Copy/paste win for a change!
I didn't notice any difference...
Don't know what that says about my attentiveness this evening (or whether I'm offending you) .
Don't you worry, I'm not easily offended.
I was very intrigued by this from @BritishBakeOff: On tonight's show - a bake inspired by Queen guitarist Brian May. No, it's not a mass of hair on a biscuit base.
One of the best Brians.
Yay, it's started. That's a lovely green field they're in.
Singing in the tent. They must be getting hysterical.
Sniffing the bicard?
any predictions before it starts?
#nothereasever
I didn't realise the Welsh lady hadn't had star baker. I wonder if that's a good or bad sign.
The Welsh one... not been star-baker... maybe the narrow favourite to go?
Or Christine. She has the occasional disaster.
Ruby might have an off day :S
Chelsea Flour Show! Genius.
♥
Ahhhh!
:)
Potato, rice and tapioca doesn't sound like flour to me.
"I went to see my baker at the local mill..." Christine lives in the middle ages. Or Trumpton.
Love that Kimberly-loaf!
I wasn't sure when I saw the startling green but it does look good all rolled up.
oven-watch begins
Garlic and ham *inside the bread* = definite winner
They're getting properly picky now.
At the beginning, she said she wasn't going to tell them what was wrong with her bakes. Fail on the first go!
Not bad all round really.
...but Ruby :(
you don't have to 'tour the supermarket', just buy it online.
You can't say 'jog on' to Mary Berry!
A Duck-oise? That dish sounds quackers.
:)
oooooooooh hungry.
Ruby isn't very confident with this challenge
I don't blame her!
Ohh no, leakage
I love that Mel and Sue are getting properly hands on.
One in the middle? Unorthodox
Not good for Christine again.
Her first bake broke up rather :S
3D dairy-free vegetable novelty cake. That's a lot of describing words.
Winging it in the quarter finals is a risky game.
I never get tired of seeing them open and close the awesome oven doors.
Product placement ;)
ooooooooops
RUBY SMASH
hulk ruby.
yeah, we have a microwave like that.
HAD.
oops
The guitar looks good.
Mel nearly tidies away bits of Ruby's cake. Tidy, tidy.
Christine's is soo fiddley looking
It always seems a shame to cut these amazing creations.
I really quite like the wonky shed.
That yellow cheese actually hurts my eyes.
Micies
It matches Mary's jacket.
Tears everywhere after that!
bye bye christine.
(always wanted to say that)
So much trouble.
*runs*
*hides*
teehee
fixed
Next week looks fun. More singing.
enjoyed that.
(the programme i don't watch, ever)
