It looks as though things may go back to normal in Doctor Who land, as we have a regular one-episode story with less of the Doctor dying and more of the swashbuckling pirates. Considering all the questions that were raised over the last two episodes, we're unlikely to get too many answers today, but it could be a more enjoyable episode because of it.

Is this Amy auditioning for Pirates of the Caribbean?
Everything we've seen so far from this episode does look like a direct translation of Pirates of the Caribbean onto the small screen, but when you throw the Doctor into the mix, things are bound to end up a little bit strange, and a little bit hilarious.
Things should get underway at 6:15pm GMT+1 so I expect you to join me in the comments for the third episode of this Doctor Who series.
Really looking forward to this, not quite sure what to expect!
I'm just hoping for a self-contained story really :)
Aww, baby Amy: http://springfieldpunx.blogspot.com/2011/05/another-doctor-who-week-day-6.html
Awesome!
I was reading an online discussion the other day about old characters coming back and it kind of amused me that some people were saying how Moffat would never have Captain Jack
I think they may have forgotten that Steven Moffat created Jack Harkness :)
also hopefully Day 7 of the springfield dr who's will be the silence :)
Just listened to the Ood Cast, they reckon JB wants Moffat to write in Jack meeting Canton but, as it's the Ood Cast I wouldn't take it too seriously
Hehe. There hasn't been much crossover though, aside from Ms Song.
Has anyone been listening to the Blogtor Who commentaries?
It is my personal opinion that "Don't Scare the Hare" is the worst thing ever on television
So disappointed with Jason for doing this! I say it every week I know :)
It really is quite bad, and I will watch a lot of rubbish things!
Never heard them... worth giving them a listen?
No, worth a listen?
Don't Scare the Viewer Away is more appropriate I think
http://blogtorwho.blogspot.com/2011/04/blogtor-who-commentary.html
They're an acquired taste. I found the people a bit irritating at first but stuck with it and it's been worthwhile.
There was something interesting in the second one that I wanted to bring up here but I have forgotten it.
D'oh.
The only way this show gets any audience is the scheduling
Downloading from iTunes, will give them a listen
I wonder if the Magic paddle is from the magic forest
Cool. It's basically just two guys watching and chatting at the same time, but sometimes they spot things that you haven't :)
This advert is already making up for the hare thing :)
Oh I dunno if you guys got it. It said BBC Wales at the end but it was a if it's worth watching it's with us thing
Here we go!
I listen to Radio Free Skaro as well, three Canadian guys doing basically the same thing
Did they not have plasters in pirate times?
Marvellous, I'll have a look. I don't know why but I never really thought about Doctor Who podcasts before this series.
Hehehehe :)
Hehehe.
I hope he wears an eye patch at some point. They could be the new fez.
Careful there's loads out there you want to have some time for F1
Always on to the next fashion, that Doctor.
Amy and Rory are almost wearing his and hers matching shirts!
pink tights?
Aww. Yay Roamy.
She's not too bad with a sword.
Amy can sword-fight!
Now she's just showing off!
Oh Rory why would you try to catch a sword...
It's nice that it drops you a note!
too much grog :)
Brilliant beards
Missed the opening credits - who wrote this one please?
Stephen Thompson.
A green singing shark in an evening gown!
:)
Thanks Christine
Nice hat
almost at the eye patch :)
Does have shades of the xmas special going doesn't it ....
Uh ohhh.
Heheh, he reminds me of Da Vinci when he discovered the ship :)
Or the tardis, even. So much talking of ships!
That man has quite the eyebrow.
It is most pointy.
I will take one of those confused t-shirts.
We should get t-shirts :) :)
Abandon ship, hehe.
Oh dear.
You're supposed to be inside it you silly doctor
whoops
Please ignore all my theories up to this point.
Can you tell there's jeopardy - music building
Always knew that mr sheen polish would cause problems one day
Hehehe.
He does like destroying mirrors. *remembers the madame pompadour episode*
Is the sea really ever so still?
Having seen Finding Nemo I have to agree with your concerns. Lots tends to happen in the sea.
WHAT?
I think Amy has been on a pirate ship before you know.
Now Amy knows how to sail a pirate ship too!
Someone kick it overboard!!
Oh it's too late now!!!!
He could have done that before!
Ohh it's a disaster. One for Cruises From Hell I think
Ow.
Whaaaatt?
later that day..... lol
Hehehehe.
This is feeling a bit Girl in the Fireplace
Even down to the mirror breaking earlier :)
Indeed and both Moffat of course
Ewwww.
Bleurgh.
The TARDIS!
Ohhh, so it's all just Inception.
So she's good then?
I think misunderstood
the new NHS :)
Not Rory! :(
Phew :)
Now she's a nurse as well.
How are they all alive?
Uhm - she kinda gave up there no?
Hehehehehe I've got mail!!
OOOOOOHH. The Ooodddd!!
Ood
verdict?
yeah... but pink tights?
I've remembered what it was now.
They were saying it was quite confusing that the Silence had only actually hurt one person, and didn't seem to be damaging the human race that much, but the Doctor, who is so anti-gun, was happy for River to shoot them all to pieces.
Weird.
:)
That was good. Enjoyed it.
Oooh true...
Have heard lots of comments about that one, not really in character for Dr Who
Stoopid slow mo spinning shooting scene.
Hehehehe, watching Confidential now. He's already going on about hats.
I should Factbyte Factbox Doctor Who. Why haven't I done that?
PING! http://toata.co.uk/index.php/2011/05/188-doctor-who-watch-the-curse-of-the-black-spot/
Wow, that was quick!
Wierdly it took longer than I planned as I was waiting for the iPlayer to get a screengrab :)
This must be a better episode than last week then :)
It was easier to talk about, definitely. Lead head scrambling :)
