After the series opener last week, we're heading into the second episode of this Doctor Who two-part story. We were thrown right into the heart of the action last time out, with scenes played out with a Doctor from 200 years in the future, the gang finding their way into the Oval Office, and Amy revealing a big secret.

What could these three do if left in charge of The White House?
We were also introduced to the new big bad, in the form of The Silence - a creature that you forget about the minute you look away. I find that concept pretty creepy, who knows what kind of things are hiding behind us that we have forgotten about because we aren't looking.
The episode begins at 6pm BST and I'll be in the comments and watching, probably open-mouthed. I hope you'll join me, either as the episode plays out, afterwards for discussion, or as you watch it after the event.
I have no idea what to expect tonight :)
From some of the official pictures, it looks like we've got quite a lot more story to cover!
There's already about 6 stories to keep up with :)
ohhh!!! just in time for me to finish my book and send it off!! *very excited*
what a nice reward.
Oooh fantastic :D well done!!
Now you can have a sit down and watch some confusing sci fi awesomeness.
Looks like I'll have to hide in the dashboard, far too much on tonight to watch. Have to iPlayer this one.
Hoping for a reasonable conclusion, as long as some storylines get explained a bit more, I'll be happy.
Yay!
it's very exciting. my first photographic book! :o
This should be good... Hopefully some 'confusion' is sorted...
This hare program before Dr Who really scares me a bit.
I have it muted, but it looks terrible!
Oooooh, mute, good idea
Am disappointed Jason would do this to himself. :(
He needs to be back being funny about gadgets!
a hare is not a gadget! it's a rabbit! #sillyjason
Not sure I've heard of him before.
I've only ever seen him on the gadget show, but that was where he belongs
don't scare the hare!
he's awesome on the gadget show on channel 5. such a shame he's doing this :(
Here we go!
Wooo!
woot woot!
yay
#nothereifitsgonnabescary
3 months!
Amy needs to read christine's running updates
She runs quicker than I do.
3 months later and she's still wearing the same clothes.
Longer too, 3 flipping months! :)
I already do.
Oh wait. She's not dead yet? Grr.
me: "where do i know that guy from?"
christine: "last week?"
Are you going to say that every week for the whole run?
:D
so much for "less confusing"!
no, normally I'm asleep by now :D *toddles off*
Hehehe.
why would you run to the edge of a building when you're so high up? For a smart lady that's so silly
See, I warned her!
I was hoping Doc would be there with a DeLorean.
He may have locked himself in.
Ooooh!
eh?
3 months all for that!
That was cool.
COOOL.
Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!!!
well. just.. okay then.
There was a Doc waiting for her!
that wasn't odd at all...
Oh so THATS why they delayed Endeavour
:)
Are they getting job chips like in futurama or something?
HOW DO I WATCH IT LIVE???
i need one of these!
On the iPlayer or TVCatchup.com?
i think i need a chip like that to help me remember stuff..
the iHand, remembering your forgotten memories
No buttons or anything. Jobs will approve :)
Don't live in the UK so I can't watch it. I don't know how to...
ah, no book for me as it will ship after my deadline. stupid bank holidays. ah well.
*turns back to dr who*
best opening ever
spoooooooky
And there was me thinking the episode with the gas masks was dark
"there's always a bit left over."
are you my mommy? lol I thought the same...
Oh my woooord.
*hides*
iHand - I love it!!
Nixon's assistant looks like river song...
I was so surprised to see that The President is the guy from Jonathan Creek. It's so obvious now I know but would never have guessed.
Confidential FTW!
OHHHHHHHH.
I wish I'd never watched Frost Nixon. The Nixon is that is the Nixon I always imagine now
Rory LOL
I still don't get how to watch it online live... HELP ME!!
This gets weirder.
I don't know of any easy way, you might need to try googling for answers. Sorry.
hehehe, "welcome to america..."
"Yeah, welcome to America" AWESOME
tape everything in Nixon's office... but cliche... but still :)
Poor Rory. Always second best.
http://bit.ly/kHVlDE this shirt is well cool
Ooh!
Whatever a videophone is.
Never known Amy be so whiny.
I'm completely lost now.
am loving it though.
Ugh, flirting.
That's the same setup from the 2nd floor of "The Lodger" ya?
So it is.
"oops"
Aww, poor Rory, always first best. Eh-hem.
:)
:)
awwwwww!
i (hearts) amy.
I'm gonna start calling you moron.
hmmm
hehehehehe
Hehe.
Huh? Really?
hehehehehehe!!!! rory!
Woah!
Far too much kissing and bleurgh in this one.
does the next 'pirates of the caribean' episode look really s*** compared to these two? not because it will be rubbish, but because they were amazing
Gah! Wrong thread...
language steve!
Hmmmmmm - Gotta watch this again...
It looks more understandable!
sorry
I don't think it was ever going to live up to it though, finding out who she really is. It was such a great mystery.
Anyone feel like they 'skipped' any episode? Think they could have made an entire epi with all the 'flashbacks' ...
I think she's been overused too much... she had that little bit of hinting in the Library episodes actually being a doctor and whatnot and it's been a bit of an overload since for me
would have been a great end to the series, or something along those lines
I've never liked how smug she was, knowing everything that was coming. Being a bit more vulnerable now helps me like her character more, but she seems a bit... pointless.
no probs :)
Feels like that was the finale, oddly
it really does, so does that mean at some point in the future (when they move that far into the doctors lives) the doctor will be a little girl? because if so they had better be filming those episodes now....
I assumed it related to the doctor's daughter from previous series but you just never know with Dr Who, it could be his friends dog's uncle's sister's brother's sister in law for all we know
when was there a 'doctor's daughter'? I was hoping Time Lordism was passed through the mother to stop all of that business, however we do not know if the doctor is a man *down there*
he could be like a frog, or a slug or whatever it is which has both all of the time
A series or two ago, with Tennant's doctor.
Awww, I liked Jenny.
Who is now Tennant's wife, incidentally
#confusing
well blow me down
And really the daughter of a previous doctor. Weirdness!
Rumours are that MAYBE River is tied to Aimee (child? or mother?)... who knows! Obvious some TimeLord stuff going on here...
So the Doc 'dies' 200 years from now? (since he couldn't/didn't regenerate?) - Timey, whimey, blimey!
even timey wimey couldn't explain this one :)
oh, they got rid of the doctor 'dying; and having a set number of regenerations running into this series.
I presume to protect themselves when each actor moves on. TBH I like it that way, then we can have a new doctor every now and again and give them a chance to take the programme with them
Thanks for commenting with me, everyone. It was lots of (rather confusing) fun :)
Off for some rugby... Stormers spanking the sharks... ;) F1, to Doctor Who, to Weddings... Diverse!
I found the whole episode incredibly confusing. I hope they know what they're doing with this story arc because I can see it ending in a big ugly heap if they're not careful (and I don't just mean the characters)...
I would have liked a coherent "in-universe" explanation though.
I watched the Doc while eating a couple of little minted NZ lamb chops and a glass of red wine. It felt a bit confusing but it didn't seem to matter because it was fun.. a bit like the Chinese GP.
The amusing bits definitely made up for any confusion.
the lamb would help too. Mmm, lamb
River was quite obviously nicked from "Serendipity", the very excellent film from the Firefly series. The last scene of Serendipity was the last action scene in Dr Who (much watered down) where River killed all the Silence. Come on, even the name is the same as in the film. Mind, I think Summer Glau has it on points.
Serenity, and yeah I see the similarity now you say it.. Next week, Pirates of the Caribbean..
Of course it was Serenity, just wanted to see if anyone was awake.
Have written up my review: http://mrschristine.com/2011/04/30/doctor-who-series-6-episode-2-day-of-the-moon/
Just caught up with this. I loved that you could hear "Hail to the Chief" every time the President arrived somewhere even though there was no band. Interested to see how the whole story arc pans out until the summer break.
