Twickenham plays host to the England and Wales rugby players, as they face off against each other in the latest bout of the Six Nations Cup. Both are on equal footing when it comes to the form guide, but Wales have always struggled for luck at the Twickenham Stadium. The game will be live on BBC One, following coverage of the Ireland versus Italy game. Who will you be cheering on?

There is already some rugby on. The people, they seem to be run, run, running and then deliberately falling over. This is something I usually try to avoid when I am running.

  • Christine25/02/2012 at 15:16

Italy have played three and lost three. Doh.

  • Pat W25/02/2012 at 15:16

Hello. Will be here properly in a bit.

If they fall over after the sticks when carrying the ball they get points and the chance to kick it for more

It's the same as a Touchdown in NFL.. except they actually have to touch it down on the ground :)

There are touchdowns where you don't have to touch down? Sport is weird. :)

  • Lukeh25/02/2012 at 15:28

Today it appears to be law to wear a Welsh top in Wales as everyone appeared to have them on earlier. I had a red jacket on. I feel I did my part.

American sport especially, it's called football, but you carry and throw it!

Good to see BBC's dramatic openings aren't just saved for F1!

Sad to say that my knowledge of rugby is mostly that bloke that did Strictly and A Question of Sport, and then Charlotte Church's ex. It's a start, I suppose.

What about dwarf tossing players who are married to royalty? You must've heard about that!

  • Lukeh25/02/2012 at 15:30

Also a local radio station asked 100 people what was more important - beating England or winning the 6 nations. The result was 74-26 I believe, I'll let you decide which was in favour :)

  • peteS2K25/02/2012 at 15:33

So what's actually happen in the 6 nations so far then? I've paid no attention to it and, if I'm honest, I'll be mostly watching England v Pakistan in the cricket!

Wales have been awesome, France has been too cold to play, and everyone else keeps falling over.

  • peteS2K25/02/2012 at 15:37

I did hear about the France gaming getting cancelled, that was a bit of a farce!

I used to really enjoy rugby, played a lot, but got frustrated by the dominance of the kicking game a slowly stopped caring. Coincidently the further a got a way from Wales, the less it mattered to me!

I think if the 6 nations wasn't every year, I might care more about it. It was mostly getting kicked in face too much and hands in painful places in the scrum that put me off playing. North East Wales is a bit odd for rugby anyway, torn between Union and League being so close to the League powerhouses

  • Lukeh25/02/2012 at 15:41

    Predictions, everyone?

  • peteS2K25/02/2012 at 15:43

England have been bad with a new lineup but somehow getting through it. Scotland fighting well. Wales are good. Ireland reasonable. Italy better than usual but still worst.

  • Lukeh25/02/2012 at 15:52

  • CAMikaze25/02/2012 at 16:21

  • Christine25/02/2012 at 16:27

There were few long periods with no chance of scoring, a sign of a more evenly matched team.. or maybe the style of play with all the tackling.

If you watch France they pass the ball a LOT more, more flowing, great to watch.

  • peteS2K25/02/2012 at 16:47

  • Christine25/02/2012 at 17:32

Mr C is impressed that play mostly keeps on going. He is too used to NFL I suppose.

  • Christine25/02/2012 at 17:33

Is it bad if they draw?

  • Lukeh25/02/2012 at 17:33

  • Christine25/02/2012 at 17:44

The transparency between the ref and his people advising him is mindboggling.

  • Pat W25/02/2012 at 17:44

only saw a few minutes, but enjoyed everyone of them.

It really came alive in the last 15 mins or so

  • peteS2K25/02/2012 at 17:44

  • peteS2K25/02/2012 at 17:44

The transparency between the ref and his people advising him is mindboggling.

  • Christine25/02/2012 at 17:44

So.. you know it was a good game because half the people are being helped off the pitch by medics?

  • CAMikaze25/02/2012 at 17:44

Pretty exciting ending, that's for certain.

  • Pat W25/02/2012 at 17:45

The transparency between the ref and his people advising him is mindboggling.

Brilliant stuff. The only people who can't hear it are the fans in the stadium.

If the NFL were to have a team in London, would Twickenham be that teams home stadium?

  • Pat W25/02/2012 at 17:47

If the NFL were to have a team in London, would Twickenham be that teams home stadium?

It would be Wembley where the annual London game is held, but it SHOULD be Twickenham, better suited to it IMO

  • CAMikaze25/02/2012 at 17:49

It would be Wembley where the annual London game is held, but it SHOULD be Twickenham, better suited to it IMO

I gather that's because of the difference of ground conditions between the two?

  • Pat W25/02/2012 at 17:49

I gather that's because of the difference of ground conditions between the two?

Yeah the NFL teams always complain about Wembley and I think in fairness so do the footie teams..

  • CAMikaze25/02/2012 at 17:50

Probably could have used a deeper dirt bed for the field.

  • peteS2K25/02/2012 at 17:50

I gather that's because of the difference of ground conditions between the two?

spot on, longer grass, and a pitch that isn't used or Bon Jovi!

  • CAMikaze25/02/2012 at 17:53

If things continue, 2012 may truly be the year of the Welsh Dragon. :)
