It’s the final time the NFL will grace our shores this season as London game number 3 is upon us. This week began with the Cleveland Browns handing it to the Cincinnati Bengals, their contemporaries in the AFC North. First up on the hallowed Wembley turf, the Dallas Cowboys take on the ‘home’ team, Jacksonville Jaguars (18:00 Sun – C4 / Sky Sports) – Tony Romo’s back may still cause him problems so if he plays watch for the Jags’ D-Line targeting him. Next the New York Giants play the Seattle Seahawks (21:25 Sun – Sky Sports) – the Hawks will have a chip on their shoulder after a couple of weeks of below par performances, although they are now without much of a passing game. The late kickoff pits the Chicago Bears against the Green Bay Packers (01:30 Mon – C4) – the Bears need a win to stay in the playoff race, but it’s the Pack who are the in-form side coming into this matchup.
NFL Week 10

TD Jags: now lead 7-3 midway through the first
Dallas pulled back in front after a fumble on a punt return. TD to Witten
TD Dez, eating up the Jags with some good YAC
Fins and Lions trading picks
Cowboys fumbled on a crossing route - Jags' ball
DEZ!! TD
Man vs Food in the studio again
Dallas 31-9 midway through the 4th
Cowboys D playing dirty today. Two really bad hits on defenceless receivers who didn't even have the ball.
Will, are you the only guy not at Wembley?
Looks like the Wembley game was a little one-sided
The score doesn't lie, it's true.
I saw one TD where the defence had three attempts to stop it but each time created a huge hole for the ball carrier to run through
Seattle making easy work of scoring against the Giants
31-17.in the end
Saints 9ers into OT
Seahawks already a TD up against Giants
Seems so, just me holding down the fort.
Wilson turns it over, Giants take 7
Was hoping for a big Saints win. Picked up Graham as my kicker this week. Also managed to get the Patriots D. They might be on a bye, but crazy to get rid of them, surely?
I saw that and cursed you - I had my eye on them!
If you don't have a spare roster spot for a second D then I can see it, but the Pats are worth dropping a 5th WR UN order
*in order to keep
Russell Wilson using his wheels on 2 consecutive plays
Giants TD : should be 14-7 after the Xpt
Seahawks cough the ball up...
...they didn't lose too much: Giants went 3 & out
Old school Raiders defence players must be thinking they could easily make the team still
Russell Wilson being selfish, keeping the ball for himself, a lot
I was determined no-one else was getting them. It was difficult determining which defense to get rid of though!
the first one, on hitchens, wasnt dirty, that was just a football collision, nothing he really could do but hit him, cant just jump out of the way, shouldnt have been a penalty even. the second by wilcox was way out of line, he should cop a fine for that, totally unnecessary.
Week 11 starts here:
Forte's 30 yard run was his first run over 20 yards this season - Bears penultimate team to tick that stat off.
Which team is left?
Vikes-Bears to start with I think
I'm watching 49ers-Giants.
Any particular reason you're keeping tabs on that game?
Bad DPI flag thrown in New York on a pass to Crabtree. Defender wasn't looking, but he didn't do anything wrong either.
Bears miss a longish FG.
JJ Watt scores another TD as a TE!
I need to keep track on my RB points ;)
Fake punt Vikings goes for 52 yards
Looks like my iPad is doing a great job of posting, but not receiving your posts - hence not seeing you
Denver 10-0 down to the Rams
Ah. I'm resigned to losing this week. Star players are on bye weeks.
I'm still not comforted by that... Should still be a shoot out.
The Giants have clearly never heard of the two minute drill. Some terrible decisions at the end of the half.
Eli's face is a picture - the type of the picture that you never hang on a wall!
Yep. Dalton's having a good game and Eli's gone bad. Of course, it would happen the week I swap them.
Well, Sanders might have been taken out of the game.
Peyton looks to have the rest of the game with Brady-level weapons
Sanders
I don't think Brady's receivers really match up.
Eli threw another pick.
Cam Newton has been dire too.
The other Manning pick!
Panthers posting up some comeback points.
Seahawks turn it over on downs, but I think there should have been a flag for DPI.
What is it today with all the potential upsets?...
I think I'm less than .500 on my picks this week.
Carolina tie it up with the PAT to come.
I think I'm heading that way as well...
Another Peyton pick!
The Rams are going to win this...!
I'm 4-8 on the first 12 games.
Manning just got picked off again.
Panthers miss a FG, trail by 2. Two timeouts remaining, 1:22 on the clock.
Chargers-Raiders for me next!
Probably Lions-Cards for me. Maybe redzone too.
I want to watch ALL of tonight's 4 games, but will probably only listen to the one, and maybe not even all of that
Currently only got '9ers and Bears correct tonight
Raiders' O already loses the ball!
TOUCHDOWN CHARGERS
Panthers 64-yard FG try to win is tipped.
What is going on tonight?
Just got in to find out Seattle and Denver both lost and Denver only scored 7 points
Sanders got smashed, Julius Thimas was injured, Manning threw two interceptions, they only ran for 28 yards and their running back who was coming back from injury got injured without even getting the ball!
...and to add to all that, Peyton doesn't like it when it's cold out
Me neither. Playing in Denver is not a great idea if you don't like the cold
I think the game was in St. Louis though.
It was snowing in Chicago earlier.
Bad day all round then. I could just about understand Denver losing if they scored 24 points and lost a blow out but I don't get how they only scored 7
I know that. Just seems odd to go to Denver if you want sunny weather. I wonder what his career stats would be like if he had played in Miami with all the players he had in Indy and Denver
Can't be the best ever if you're only a fair weather quarterback. Just another reason why Brady's better!
(Although Aaron Rodgers rises above them both, I'd say. Phenomenal.)
Rodgers just put his hands in his pockets, casually pointed to his running backs telling them where to go, then launched it 50 yards down the sideline. Incredible.
I think his stats suggest he does OK in all weathers
8-11 below 40F. Brady is 40-6.
Strangely, Brady is better in cold weather on the road than at home.
Snowing in Indy. Obviously, they're closing the roof tonight…
I am surprised Peyton has played so few cold games
Rodgers has passed Brady's record of home passes without an INT. Currently 292. Brady had 288.
Those are crazy numbers
i have nothing to do but drink beer and watch football this evening. a weird prospect.
Look at the protection Rodgers is getting
Heaven - I have nothing to do but ironing and listening to football :)
By good luck you just happen to be in the right place for that
:) :) :)
Excellent!
Yeah. And he, like Brady, has often had a very suspect offensive line. Probably worse, actually.
Lost your starting QB? No problem. Andre Ellington for 49 yards.
Not making much headway on the ground, try throwing the ball instead.
A Raider just let a sure fire pick drop because the ball hit him so hard in the stomach/chest
Probably more accurate
Matt Prater in-off from 50 yards.
Packers have started well!
Green Bay return a punt 75 yards and get a penalty for over-celebrating
Who was the flag on though? 33 did nothing wrong that I could see.
Not sure
Great job by Jordi Nelson
huh, great placement.
I menat great job of getting his feet in the end zone when he was stumbling out
me too. amazing awareness.
Just noticed Rodgers has an old school chin strap on his helmet. That is taking old school uniforms too far.
I know I am spending too much time on twitter when I am typing a comment and thinking I will need to edit to get down to 140 characters
♥
The strap might stay on better!
Novak misses a 48-yard field goal. Ends a run of 48 successful home field goals, if I caught where the comms was going with that correctly.
('cos he's definitely not hit 48-straight with no caveats)
The Packers are looking unstoppable right now.
They look a lot better than 6-3
Yup, that sounds like what they qualified it with
I know he's not 100% this season, and they're at home, so I guessed it was, since it wasn't a particularly short kick.
That's Green Bay's worst first half defensive performance in the last four games.
Life's hard, eh?
That's probably it for me today. Night all.
See ya Will.
see ya!
Night Will^
...Rivers got flattened - knee sounded painful
Now I'll go ;)
He's still on the field, so it can't be too bad.
Packers are totally destroying the Eagles. Snap goes over Mark Sanchez's shoulder and gets run back for another TD
Eagles 13 Packers 53 and still 10 minutes to go
Week 12 starts here:
Evening all. Welcome to the NFL lock-in comments ;)
Lock in comments?
pub's "officially" shut ;)
Shhhhhh ;)
I had no idea there were going to be lock ins
just until our license is taken away (next weekend)
;)
In Chicago: bucs with an INT, now bears with a fumble
Philly already up by 14
At the same time the next batch of games kick off there is a Soyuz launch tonight. I need less stuff to happen
Green Bay punted twice already :O
The Lions defence spotted something they didn't like and while they were passing signals round Brady threw a TD pass
notGRONK scores for New England!
I passed by Tim Wright in favour of Rivera at TE this week...
Surprised they knew what to do.
Bad plan by the looks of it
Mike Evans scores again
Blount was released by the Steelers on Tuesday, signed for the Pats on Thursday and just scored a TD
Back in NE, back in the endzone!
Josh Gordon sighting
Darn it, knew that would happen. Was really tempted to get him. Trouble is, he'll be a one week wonder. They'll barely have him in at all next week.
Gray last week, Blount this week, Vereen next week?
Tim Wright again?!
Tim Wright and Richard Rogers just scored the most wide open TDs possible. Rogers' was insane.
Pats go in at half time leading 24-6
What is happening between IND and JAX - 6-3 at the half
Bears will go in 10-0 down at the half. At home to Tampa.
To the Succaneers?!
Trent Richardson does something! TD Colts
Andy Dalton doing Andy Dalton things - pick-6!
Bears are on the board - TD Jefferies
Blount in beast mode.
What a fantastic catch attempt by Edelman
Lions have finally found a way to stop Gronk. It involves officials throwing flags.
TY Hilton celebrates his TD by dedicating it to his newborn daughter (IIRC)
Sanchez still winning.
TD Crowell! That's two today. Great FA pickup.
Edelman returns a punt a mile for a TD but there was a flag at the scene of the catch
With Tate gone, he's the man!
Bears recover the fumble!
How'd he pass the punter *and* the two in front of him?!
Less a fumble and more a pass from the defense!
Forte TD - Bears are back in the game
Fortuitous lead, that.
He seemed to pass about 19 players to get to the end zone. He went past two who were within a yard of him when he was grazing the line. Slightest shove and he was out.
I don't think I entered any Pick 'em picks this week. At least I haven't got any wrong yet.
Hahaha - last week was a total bust for me!
I've never done so badly as last week. It was like the Monaco GP in FantasyF1 every year.
Complete opposite of shooting fish in a barrel!
Is that meant to be easy or hard?
Bears INT inside the Tampa 15
shooting fish is supposed to easy - last week was HARD
Fish shooting back is hard
I'm amazed Arizona - Seattle isn't the Sky game tonight. Surely the top pick of the later games?
Another Forte TD!
VJax fumble (unless he was down)
Bah, bench player TD.
I don't think I have seen an Arizona game all season
Marino and Elway chatting on the pitch at Miami. Shame they are too old to play
Stafford has 34% pass completion
INT-bowl in Atlanta. Hoyer again.
VJax making catches
3 point game over in Green Bay
Ooooh.
Lowest completiom % of Stafford's career.
*completion
Crazy timeout call in Atlanta.
Patriots just delivered their 14th consecutive winning season
Switched from the Soyuz launch just in time to get the last line of the anthem and the flypast at in Denver
Broncos kick off and Miami get the ball at the 20
Von Miller down injured after one play
Chargers
3 up against the Rams
TD Miami
Lunches made - time for the ironing while following the football
Penalty against Miami for a head butt
Seattle play blown dead because the officials "weren't in the correct position for officiating".
That is a head butt from someone who took till Thursday to get clearance from concussion
That's different
Did they throw the flags on themselves?
Rivers picked off - Rams go 99 yards for the score
The Rams then get flagged for a choreographed celebration
I forgot to check if JT was palying.
*playing
Nope - ruled out hours ago
Oh. NFL.com a bit slow on that one then.
Says inactive on the Fantasy site
Denver lose a challenge
Yeah, that's very recent :-)
You managed to bench him though?
I benched him so as not to take the risk. Meant to check shortly before the game.
Tannehill takes it in for the TD.
Chargers block a FG
Seattle and St Louis both have field goals blocked
I really, really don't see it happening, but it would be awesome if Miami won today.
Miami and SD win and there is a 3way tie at the top of the AFC West
And the Patriots would pretty much have the AFC #1 spot sown up.
Which would be *insane* given how badly they started the season.
Then GRONK got healthy, and they never looked back
They are looking good for their lead so far
Do the Broncos have Hillman playing? Any of their wide receivers out? Sanders?
I think CJ Anderson is playing at RB (although I'm not watching the game)
Haven't seen Hillman. I think the commentator said he was out. Sanders paying now
He is
Just broke off a 25-yarder
Broncos keep using a run straight up the middle
I should say, I'm still planning on the week after next for migrating to my site… having a few issues at the moment!
If we are cunning we should be able to get a couple of the Thanksgiving games in on Thursday
Broncos just had a TD turned into a 10 yard offensive pass interference penalty
Rams had a TD brought back for a facemask
Oooh, forgot about that.
Redskins level the score in SF
Great catch by Demaryius Thomas
TD Denver
5:30pm Bears @Lions
9:25 Eagles@ Cowboys
1:25am Seahawks @ 49ers
Sunday
5:30 Saints @ Steelers
9:25 Patriots @ Packers
That could be an epic.
It is the pick of the bunch.
That could be the Superbowl
4 out of 5 are excellent matchups! And the other should just be a great game.
TD Miami
Peyton has to go 80 yards in 2 minutes
Possible
Outrageous pass and catch
Peyton to Sanders
That was on 3rd and 20
TD Denver with 12 seconds to spare.
Denver get the ball first in the second half
Stanton's looking like a liability today.
TD Chargers
Ryan Mathews on the ground, into the endzone for the Chargers.
Rams fumbled after a blitz, touchdown - pending review.
Rams weren't interested in the ball at all.
Probably stands as call.
Confirmed - TD
Those 2 TDs were within 12s on the gameclock.
Can they do 3 in 27s like the Patriots last year?
Oh no, it was 52s.
Weird watching the Broncos play ground and pound. Peyton just got the biggest jump ever on a hard count
Oh, wait, 3 in 52s against the Bears, 3 in 65s against the Jets last year. Basically, don't play the Patriots.
Chargers muff the punt - urgh
Wilson to someone I've never heard of for the score!
Peyton slips and is sacked leaving a 33 yard field goal attempt which the kicker misses. Crowd sound distinctly dischuffed
Should've kept Prater…
Would be better to have Billy Cundiff
When Billy Cundiff is the answer, you're in massive trouble.
But they need all the salary cap they can to pay for every other position on the roster
:)
Tannehill sacked as the Denver D finally wakes up
I've heard their QB is expensive, and doesn't like it when it's cold in January.
Denver punt return just went very wrong. Miami get the ball
Denver's punt return is weak against AFC East team :-)
Keenan Allen just fumbled too.
That Denver game is wild right now.
Returner caught the ball clean. Tried to steal a few yards and found out there were about 10 Dolphins around him. They knocked the ball out and recovered it
Wow, RGIII just got smashed on a sack.
TD Dolphins
He is only just back about two weeks from injury
Like Gronk, I think he'll be injured his whole career.
Redskins - 49ers tied at 10.
Except Gronk will play till his body gives out, whereas RGIII will play until teams give up on him.
Jamar Taylor off injured for Miami. Looks like his left arm is bashed up
Manning tries a huge long pass which Sanders almost caught. Good case for an interference penalty against Miami but they get away with it
Manning overthrew Sanders again on third down. Broncos go for it on 4th
Made about 12 yards on 4th and 2
Keenan Allen 29 yard TD
Decent games Arizona-Seattle aside.
TD Denver
Wonder if he will be able to kick the PAT
They are going for 2 points
And they make them
Peyton doesn't trust McManus
Now Dolphins have a 3 point lead
I'll say bye before I fall asleep and drop my phone in my face. Night.
Night Will^
Ominous.
Washington lead.
13-10
Rams fake punt pretty much in their own redzone. It works.
Seahawks win.
Rams TD wiped for hands to the face.
TD Rams.
Boldin took in a reception, got absolutely smashed. Ref threw a flag. Boldin carried on unphased. The DB is down injured.
Niners TD.
Denver TD.
That's two trailing teams no longer trailing.
Penalty call in the Rams-Chargers game has taken about 5 minutes to resolve.
Who's around for tonight's NFL?
Evening. Ultimate comments (if week 12 was the penultimate).
Dalton's already been picked off. First play.
Doing Dalton things!
Redskins in the redzone.
Redskins will have to settle for three.
Tampa in the redzone, and play bowls. They also have to settle for a FG.
Ravens in the redzone.
Luck fumbled on the first play in Indy.
TD Ravens. Torry Smith.
TD Texans. Griffin.
TD Vikings. Rudolph.
TD Rams. Mason.
Luck intercepted now...
ultimate live commenting :)
Rivers intercepted.
Ohh dear - he never plays up to scratch behind an iffy OLine
4th centre this year IIRC
Exactly :)
Titans intercepted.
Flacco seemed to ask the ref if he should take a timeout. Looked clueless.
Ravens FG. Lead 10-0.
I made a lot of changes to my fantasy team this week. Half my team are out, the other half have bad matchups. Could be looking iffy...
Texans TD. Foster.
Steelers FG. 3-0.
Vikings TD. Blocked punt.
Rams TD. Hill.
Rams looking good these days.
Colts TD. Fleener.
Browns FG. 3-0.
TD Giants. Jennings.
TD Chargers. Keenan Allan. Rushed throw, good catch,
Saints should've had a pick 6.
Carolina FG. Trail 14-3.
The most important question of the night... How much of the Pats Packers game do I stay awake for?
Teehee - I have a old /comments page open on the iPad, and it's still receiving new posts.
*sneaky*
super impressed ipad hasn't force-reloaded the page. seems to do that hourly for me.
I know right :D
All of it!
Even when it stays open?
Tampa now 10-0 up against the bengals
when flicking between tabs.
TD Giants. Flag pending.
Flag is on the defense. It stands.
I've not touched this page for a week as well
Colts TD. Herron.
You have a lot of tabs open?
ten or so usually. not masses, but more than ye olde mini can handle i guess.
Fair enough. I have iPad 3 and it generally copes without too m any reloads, as long as I don't open Twitter too much. Twitter is a massive memory hog on iOS.
Bills intercepted in the endzone.
Chargers D called for PI in the endzone - ball on the 1
It's open in chrome if that makes a difference
It wasn't, unless they've done it again. Illegal contact - ball went to 7.
Dalton… picked off in the endzone.
Threw it into really tight double coverage. Muppet.
Vikings TD. Blocked punt. Panthers have punted twice. Both blocked for a touchdown.
Ahh ok - guys on the radio either told me the wrong thing, or I wasn't listening. FG only
Yeah, it definitely would've been a rough DPI call.
Coby Fleener was wider open that Eric Pickles' mouth, certain TD, ball right in his chest. Dropped it.
Tre Mason - TD machine!
Rivers to Gates never gets old! (Just a 3rd down conversion this time)
TD Giants.
My Pick 'em for the Jags is backfiring.
Saints TD to the TE... notGRAHAM.
Chargers fumble.
Chargers fumble deep in Raven's territory
Cundiff missed a field goal. Surprise!
Sounds like it was caused by the Bolts' own RT.
Colts TD. Hilton.
it was
Dear ohh dear
Justin Forsett running like a beast
Big Ben INT
Dalton ensuring he doesn't make another mistake - keeps it for the score
TD Rams...
TD Saints - Drew Brees is just making these WRs up - who are these guys?!
McCown throws a pick. Next play, Dalton throw a pick.
3rd Dalts pick - why is Sanu not under centre?
'Cos Dalton can't catch.
TD Texans, TD Redskins.
TD Vikings. Jennings.
Rams intercept Derek Carr.
Rams have set a franchise record for most points in the first half. Even Warner-Faulk didn't score 38.
Erm, wow! I used to play as them on Madden IIRC.
In the Chargers game, that can't be a flag...
And they pick the flag up.
Chargers FG 52 yarder with 2s to go before the half
Good start to the 2nd half fore the Chargers.
Locker comes in for the Titans. First play… intercepted.
Good, Texans D for me this week
Still Philly for me. And slapping the Patriots on the bench just to spite everyone (although maybe less appealing this week!)
Andre Johnson stripped, Titans TD.
Bills TD/ Hogan. 7-3.
Redskins TD. Paulsen.
Pats D vs Rodgers is a risky play any day
Bengals can't even get a surprise onside kick right.
Yep, but after this week, there's three AFC East games coming up :-)
Bungles
Bills TD.
Browns getting hammered now.
JAGS LEAD!
I really have no luck with Tight Ends. I passed up on Fleener this week, because he's been useless...
JJ Watt strips and recovers a fumble, then scores the TD on offence.
I'm still here - also building+decorating a Christmas tree
Chargers again getting penalised on 3rd down
Flacco on the sneak = TD
Jonathan Football scores a rushing TD
Rams hit 50 points.
Chargers score. 3 point game
12 men on the field is reviewable. I had no idea.
Commentator on CBS just asked "why did the clock stop?" when the Bengals failed on 4th down.
If everything else goes to pot today, at least I picked the Jags would win.
I can't remember who I picked - probably not the Jags
94% picked the Giants when I looked earlier. No idea why people were so confident about Eli!
Hahahaha - Eli
Chargers down by 6 with the ball and 2+ minutes left
Ravens PI - ball on the 1 - chargers close to the W
TD, but 30+s are in the clock.
The PAT was actually tipped too!
Jones bobbled it - that will help!
67yards to go 7s
Bolts win!! Bolts win!
1st 2 drives: Pack FG, Pats punt
Fantastic interception return for Arizona. TD.
Is Jordy even playing? ;)
Pats rush it in for the TD
There he is! With a TD
That was a nice play.
Julio Jones is going off against Patrick Peterson in the battle of the birds.
As this is likely my final comment, I'd like to say thanks again for letting us hijack sidepodcast for the NFL on such a regular basis over the last few years :D So this is goodbye to The Comments...
...So long, and thanks for all the fish!
cheers sir! wonderfully poetic that the last discussion on sidepodcast was about... football :)
[subtext] sidepodcast has and will always be so much more than just another F1 website
Yes, thanks for letting us ramble on about football in amongst everything else :-0
(Last comment?)
Wait, no I need to gloat that Crosby missed a field goal!
