It's back! There were over 200 days between the Super Bowl and Thursday night's kick-off spectacular, and the Seattle Seahawks started the season as they'd finished the previous one as they took care of the Green Bay Packers. Tonight our games kick off with a pair of AFC East rivals; perennial contenders the New England Patriots travel down the coast to the Miami Dolphins (18:00 Sun - Sky Sports) - the Pats are favourites but this matchup does have a strong sense of an upset about it. Up next, the San Francisco 49ers, with their depleted defence, are hosted by the Dallas Cowboys, who may just have the worst defence in the NFL this season (21:25 Sun - Sky Sports) - this one screams shootout! The late game pitches the Denver Broncos' Peyton Manning against his former team the Indianapolis Colts (01:30 Mon - C4) which could also be a high scoring track meet!
NFL Week 1
Published by Will Davies on
Right, who's around for the NFL tonight? I'm taking requests for non-Sky games, as my Patriots are live on Sky, so I'm not able to watch them. Happy to keep track of other matches for you. And I have to say, as a Patriots fan who always sees how easy it is for New England to lose, I really don't sense a whiff of an upset tonight. Sorry guys, but with Gronk, Amendola and a mean defense, a Dolphins win is a big ask tonight, even in Florida.
Evening all. Dunno which early game I'm following yet.
Pats: Brady has a sore ankle, Gronk will be limited, Dobson is out - I'm sensing a heavy night on the ground.
I won't be around for the early game as the Yankees are on TV and it's Derek Jeter day. Will watch 49ers - Cowboys later
Saints - Falcons to start with I think, maybe with a bit of da Bears on the side.
Gronk will only play a few snaps, but they seem very unconcerned about Brady. He practiced on Friday. Dobson out is no big deal. Ridley won't get a whole lot of work because he's been fumbling.
Wow, Brady is 6-6 in Miami, according to Redzone.
New Orleans get the ball first in Atlanta.
KC start with it against Tennessee.
hence a wiff of upset in the air ;)
And Dalton has it in Baltimore,. Already has a first down.
Steelers in Cleveland territory.
Brees with a deep pass to ATL 45.
First flag of the day goes against PIT - flase start.
PIT into the redzone.
Patriots punt.
Pittsburgh 1st and goal.
Dolphins blocked the Patriots' punt!
Touchdown Steelers.
Touchdown Miami.
Steelers touchdown came back for holding...
Shayne Graham FG attempt is good.
Pittsburgh FG is good.
Touchdown Bears
Bengals FG is good. 49 yards.
Vikings FG is good - 52 yards.
Jets FG is good - 44 yards.
Chafd Henne throws a TD. Jags lead vs Eagles.
Hello all, made it a little late. Watching my Saints @ ATL.
Heh, I just noticed my Saints feed had stopped!
I didn't do it, I swear!
EJ Manuel runs in for a TD.
Pats TD - Vereen.
Browns FG is good - 39 yards. Holder nearly muffed it/
Jags TD - that's TWO in the first Quarter.
Shayne Graham FG is good. 6-0 Saints.
Woodson just picked off Geno Smith.
Raiders TD
So far, Derek Carr is better than David Carr.
Washington's punt returner just smashed into his own teammate.
Saints challenge!
Miami have fumbled, apparently, but I've not seen it/
Looked like the receiver's second foot tripped over his first and doesn't actually hit the ground...
Bengals in the redzone, but Eifrt down, looks like a game-ender for him.
Exactly what I thought too.
Washintton challenging a no-catch call now.
TD Steelers.
Not managed to find any pictures yet and the recent updates to TuneIn means I'm unable to find local broadcasts from across the pond, so I'm relying on this thread mainly ;)
Washington lost their challenge and punt. What happened to the Saints' challenge?
Falcons fumble! Saints recovery but Jones thinks he's down...
lost it, but doesn't matter now. Ball looks out but ATL haven't challenged the ruling.
Oh, and are we not saying 'Redskins'?
Yeah, ball's out. I couldn't care less about the whole 'Redskins' debate to be honest.
Bengals double their lead with another FG.
NE FG is good, 10-7 NE.
Cool. Just that you called them 'Washington", so I was wondering.
It's not deliberate, just what comes to me as I type.
Atlanta fumbled confirmed after review.
Brees makes a good pass to Graham on 3rd & 4, at the 43 yard line. End of Q1.
Redskins get a first down - their first. Ends 1st quarter.
Cool. I'm about 1 minute behind.
Rams I think just levelled it up at 3-3.
Ah, no Rams trail 6-0.
Two big runs take the Saints to the 18. REDZONE BABY
Geno SMith fumbles at the 3. Raiders' ball.
Bills have the ball vs Bears. Fumble, I think.
(Watching four-up is exhausting - I'd forgotten that)
I was considering getting a Gamepass sub this year -- worth it?
Does the sidepodcast font look different to anyone else?
Totally. You get every game (Sky games 24 hours after game finishes), Redzone, NFL Network, all the other NFL programming too. It's INCREDIBLE value.
Nope. TD Saints. Not sure who but it was a run.
Fingers crossed for Ingram!
Robinson.
Damn!
I'll go sign up now then. :D
There's honestly no better deal in sport/
Tannehill threw a pick.
I would get it in a second, if only I had enough seconds spare to actually use it ;)
RGIII sacked for what seems like -45 yards.
Looks like 14 yard sack.
Some weeks, I see 10 full games :-) Although some are in side-by-side mode.
and I found a code for 15% off so I'll be paying £101.99. boom!
Chiefs' FG attempt comes off the post. No good.
Ravens' D is getting killed by penalties.
Three late hit/roughness penalties already.
Bills FG is good. 10-7 vs Bears
Must be great to be able to do that...
I watch five on Sunday night, the others I watch at lunch at work, or on the way to/from work, usually.
I can watch a full gmae in 30 minutes :-)
Steelers TD
Really nice throw on the run from Big Ben. Deep into the endzone.
Matt Ryan is under duress from the Saints' pressure
GRONK SPIKE
Yeah, two runs in a row.
Watching on GamePass now. Was a bit of a hassle signing up for it, the website's a bit buggy, then decided to charge me in dollars... I'm there though. Obviously it's a bit further behind than an illegal stream but that quality. Might double-box just for fun.
I quad-box, but it requires insane concentration.
My favourite was 2x games, RedZone and an IndyCar race
Although these weren't through the app
I'm going to try quad-boxing now. It's crazy seamless. Is there a way to temporarily blow up one of the games to full screen?
Yes. Hover over the game and click the bottom-right arrows that appear in that portion of the screen.
You can also slow games down, rewind individual games, start them from the beginning too
TD Redskins.
Falcons TD - Roddy White
Can I have a timeout? I'm done, already!
Wow - that Steelers punt return - karate kick to the face!
At least there's only two games later.
Both should be wide open :D
Baltimore miss a FG.
Didn't see it.
I'm finding quadboxing very overstimulating. Is it true there are 30-min condensed highlights of every game on Gamepass too?
Steelers TD?
Yes.
Yep. Not good for one of my fantasy teams as Big Ben hasn't thrown any of them.
Yeah, it's intense.
Antonio Brown tried to hurdle the punter... just ended up kicking him right in the facemask - unnecessary roughness called.
Le'Veon Bell
Foles intercepted in the endzone.
Houston TD.
76 yards, Hopkins.
It's nice to be able to watch constant football and not suffer through ads though. I couldn't do this with a sport like soccer but the stop-start nature of NFL makes it ideal.
Oh, wow. I missed this - Redskins had their PAT blocked by Watt, so they trail 7-6.
Earning his new contract!
Awesome. I'll definitely be taking in some of those. Don't need to miss a minute of football this year!
Revolutionary Chip Kelly looking pretty clever at the moment... 17 points down!
I'm seeing Matthew McConaughey very regularly in all four corners of my screen. How odd.
Wait what, Vick is under centre for the Jets, already?!
HOU TD
Eagles block a FG.
Scobee FG blocked.
Steelers punt return: https://twitter.com/willbuxton/status/508679926359527424
Ouch!
TD Jets.
Bengals have 4 FGs now.
He didn't seems to have enough jump to get high enough
Brandon Cooks TD - burning a hole in my bench!
Clowney headed to the locker room
Bengals get a fifth FG.
new offence working wonders
Flags everywhere in Huston.
Sanchez apparently readying himself for the Eagles
RGIII flagged for grounding. Watt mashed him anyway.
what the?
https://vine.co/v/Oza1K63wXpd
hi all.
Evening Mr C!
just popping in really. am mental busy until after the apple thing. probs join next week :)
ello! Big Ryan -> White pass play, again ruining my fantasy team, White might be hurt, 4 secs left in the half.
is it allowed? like, surely that's for video games only?
Vikings TD. 13-0
what?
Ryan not targeting Julio after his fumble, so maybe that will change things
He got penalised 15 yards, he'll get a fine in the post this week.
Know how you feel - I'm only here for the first 2 games probably
oh, he thought I was talking about the video. should've been clearer i guess.
The second HOU TD was from a blocked punt.
Washington special teams having a nightmare
Pats FG good.
Pats decline a penalty that would have given them a first down.
ta.
heheh!
Steelers twisting the knife, going for a FG with 3s left in the 1st - would put them 24points ahead at the half
on Gamepass, why do they show me some of the ad breaks and on other times show me the "we'll be right back after this commercial break" screen?
Foles' Hail Mary is incomplete in the endzone. 17-0 JAX at the half, ridiculous.
ST Louis are onto their 2nd QB of the night
And he's their 3rd...
I'm starting the Vikes' D :D
Not sure. I think it may be that sometimes they go back to local stations.
Apparently Shaun Hill is questionable with a thigh injury
John McEnrow has just appeared on the CBS coverage of Bengals vs Ravens
*McEnroe
Rams score 3.
Adverts on all four of my boxes right now. Nightmare.
Redzone solves that problem.
Newton inactive tonight.
Finally an Eagles TD.
Sproles.
SPROLES 49 yarder on 4&1
Ravens block a Bengals FG. Good riddance. I'm bored of Bengals field goals.
The field goal was missing anyway.
Matt Ryan turns himself into an edge rusher, and luckily steps out of bounds before the ball was stripped
TD Miami
I thought I saw a glimpse of a Flacco INT
I missed it. I was on Instagram.
Miami have scored off two turnovers today.
Brees picked by McClain in the endzone!
Brees picked off in the endzone. He's tyhrown some terrible throws in the endzone today.
Vikings TD.
Falcons take the lead with a long TD run
Saints HC Payton has his angry face on!
@RavensInsider: Joe Flacco 13 of 31, 95 yards, no touchdowns, one interception, 36.4 quarterback rating
ouchie
Pats losing.
Saints winning.
Jacksonville throwing away their 17-0 lead too...
Derrick Johnson has torn his achilles.
The Browns' comeback is on!
Brady sacked
Awful, awful pick thrown by Cutler.
So, it sounds like NE's offensive line needs some work. I know they shuffled it around in the first quarter.
Also, Vollmer picked up an injury, I think.
Philly are level.
And Buffalo now lead Chicago.
J. Rodgers in for the ATL TD. Saints on the ropes.
This would be an upset!
Well, it is in Atlanta. Saints don't travel well and Atlanta strong at home.
Falcco threw a great TD pass there.
True, but the Saints are a popular pick to get to the big game.
80 yards.
Ravens go for two, get zero.
Go big or go home
Chicago go level with the Bills.
Three tied games at the moment.
Bengals TD.
Chances of bonus football look reasonable
Bengals going for two.
Get two, lead by seven.
Ingram score for the Saints
yesssssssssss
Houston beat the Redskins, 17-6.
Jets beat Oakland, 19-14.
FREE FOOTBALL IN CHICAGO!
Bears' + Bills' fantasy owners rejoice!
Unless they;re on your bench.
Minnesota beat the Rams, 34-6.
Brady fumbled again.
Yeah, hate that happening - I wish for them to score minimal so I don't feel so bad!
The same Brady that went #1 overall in our league.
Did he? WHY? Who does that?
He's not even the #1 QB! And you don't even pick QBs first!
Shhhhhh ;) It helps everyone else
EAGLES TD! THEY LEAD THE JAGS!
Come on Jags, where was the coverage?
Steelers FG to win it...
Steelers win.
What if Johnny had played?...
Jags went 3 and out.
Miami now lead by 13...
Patriots have lost 17 points on turnovers. Easy to see where the game was lost.
Falcons will now have to try for a FG with the last play to tie the game and for OT
Kick is good
OT in Atlanta
FREE FOOTBALL IN ATLANTA!
Gronkowski played 2 of 20 snaps while the Dolphins turned a 20-10 deficit into a 30-20 lead.
Saints + Falcons fantasy owners rejoice!
Philly in the redzone. Poor Jags :-(
Woohoo!
Bills in the redzone.
Fred Jackson looks to have the game won for the Bills (almost)!
Remember, it has to be a TD to win.
I'm on board with this one forsure!
FG gives the opposition a chance
Bills won with a FG - must've not been the 1st possession
Bills win. Bears must've had a possession already.
Pats are bottom of the AFC East
Bengals win vs Ravens.
Saints fumble
oh saints cmon
That's their possession - FG for the Falcons wins it
Colston is FURIOUS.
Philly TD. 34-17 now. HARSH.
Woah, did the Jags not come back out after HT?
FG - Falcons win
Not their offense, no. Henne brought his hand forward to throw, but it was empty.
Saints lose.
booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
BortlesTime
i am going to go and cry now. laters all.
laters!
'9ers Cowboys time!
I'm not going to cry over the Pats' result.
And Carolina at Tanpa!
*Tampa.
KC lost to the Titans.
The Chiefs were always going to come back to the pack this season - esp when their best WR was missing today (and Bowe isn't really that great)
WFCowboys fumble already?!
So, err, who has Murray on their fantasy team?
Would that be you?
You follow that division more than me :-)
Oh, yes, that would be me.
That is quite likely ;)
I'm glad I started Dalton.
Over Cam? I'd say!
I had him in before today, though I saw at about 5:30 that Dalton was likely to be inactive.
Josh McCown is having a nightmare under pressure
Yeah, he is. Wasn;t sure how much you're seeing on Redzone.
Kaep shaking of a tackler to throw a TD
I've got both games tiled in front on me
Cool. I have Redzone and the Tampa game.
He's down.
Knee looked down
I'm sure I said this game wouldn't be close.
Romo's getting the bad throws in early.
Offensive shootout I said
Big kitties score against the Buccs
AWESOME!!!! The NFL mobile app is letting me listen to the '9ers game, and I think it will work for ANY GAME!!
For free? Cool.
Huh. I just got the weird bug again, where Redzone rewinds to 10pm randomly after 10pm. It happened every week last season too!
Cam Newton seen on the pitch in Tampa.
For free :) Is a play behind the tv, but who cares, it's free ;)
Plus I'm using it to fall asleep to. Night. School in the Moro. Enjoy Colts Broncos if you make it!
I won't watch that, but I'll finish these matches :-)
Cowboys get to the QB? Wow!
Hi all. Finally settled down to some NFL after baseball Germany - Scotland and dinner
First thing I saw was Romo getting intercepted with two wide open receivers
Romo intercepted again. I will never understand how he has lasted anything like this long with Jerry Jones
The daft thing is, when he throws that, it looks for a second like it's triple coverage,
Sometimes he looks really good but far too often he looks out of his depth
His problem isn't his arm. He can throw it. His problem is he can't read coverage.
Problem is his head.
Dallas: Fumble, FG, INT, INT, INT, PUNT. Almost impressive.
Anderson to Benjamin for a TD, with DPI all over the play. Amazed he could see the ball to catch it.
From @PatriotsInsider:
That's the worst ever in a Patriots game with Tom Brady.
WOW
Touchdown Tampa.
Touchdown Dallas
Touchdown Tampa. Off a tip. But he might be OOB.
Yep, he's out. He didn't get touched out, so I don't think he's allowed back in.
TD Tampa on the next play anyway/
what a nightmare start to the season, romo had a shocker, probably the worst game of his career. over his career he ahas been so good for most of it but lets himself down at crucial stages. believe me its so frustrating that someone who can be so good can undo all the good work in just a couple of poor plays.
