This time last year we live commented the rather fabulous tale of Doctor Who taking on A Christmas Carol. This year, it appears that Matt Smith will be taking on the world of Narnia - with a wintry world available through a piece of household furniture. At first glance, it looks odd, but that is always the way with Doctor Who and we must put our trust in Moffatt and co!

There are guest stars aplenty in the hour long special including Claire Skinner from Outnumbered, Alexander Armstrong from a lot of other things, and Bill Bailey from generally being very funny. I can't wait to see what they have Bailey doing. There's no sign of the Ponds, just like last year, and fans will be coming to terms with the news that they are on the way out next series.
But that is then, and for now we can anticipate the gloriously snowy and no doubt magical world awaiting us later today. I'll let Steven Moffat tell you when and where it's on.
In case no one's mentioned it - Doctor Who, 7pm, BBC 1. And a merry Christmas to all of you at home!
I can't wait.
I'm annoyed at the girl in this before I've even seen her. She was in Casualty and sulked around for episode after episode.
Much excitement here as we wait for the Doctor.
Woot, it starts!
There's a ship blowing up in the middle of space. What are the chances the Doctor's involved? Always!
It's making a noise though.
Hehe, helmet on backwards.
Because that's what caused the war. Reading about it.
Armstrong as a pilot in a World War? We've been here before, I'm sure.
Mr C is checking the items off the list. Doctor, check. Widow, check. Just need a wardrobe now.
Ha!
wait... you have a thread?
i can comment!
That kids glasses are ridiculous.
kid's
That looks like a West Ham scarf as well, I've decided I don't really like him.
A lemonade tap is brilliant.
"that's a cooker... probably"
#affinity
It could be Aston Villa?
Sciencey-wiencey!
I'm going by the theory that especially as London was blitzed severely during the War, it's more than likely going to be a London-based team.
Plus the producers of Doctor Who tend to like London more than Birmingham.
Ah ha!
I want a tree like that one. Perhaps a bit smaller.
he's sleeping with his glasses on. they'll last about as long as a pair of christine's headphones.
Trouble with hammocks is they don't have a bedside table.
Funny looking wardrobe. Still they say kids prefer to play with boxes
I thought you were happy without a tree :-(
That tree has trains, planes and rocketships.
The old bear and duvet trick.
There's due to be stuff uploaded to the DrWho website straight after the show as well. They've trapped web geeks in the office to do it live, and everything 0-0
It's like a lighthouse in the middle of a forest.
like stepping into an episode of grand designs.
whoa.....
It is a lighthouse.
Its the silver chair...
The tree things are very well done.
That looks a lot like Arthur Dent's dressing gown. The tradition of Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy references in Christmas specials continues. :)
These feel like the slightly cheaper version of the Weeping Angels...
heheehhe!!
Baubles and lights :)
That rescue could have gone better.
There's 20 minutes left of the story, what did you expect?
"Hold tight and pretend it's a plan."
Now we're getting into Scientology territory...
well i wasn't expecting that!
he's flying through the intro...
and now a hefty dose of Frank L Baum...
Not forgetting the Glass Elevator
Oh and now some Flash Gordon.
"...didn't like to make a scence"
:)
lovely garden ornament!
If that stays there, they can play at the Crystal Maze.
:) :) :)
world's most awesome stalker.
"It's a long story but they all think I'm dead."
YAY!!!
♥
Hugging standoff!
Awkward
I think I got something in my eye.
awesum!
loved that.
Ooooooo
awwwww
thanks you for the thread mrs c.
you should tell me next time ;)
I liked that episode, so much better than last years! :)
Very much enjoyed that. Easily the best Christmas special since 1965 ;)
8/10
I won't lie, I spent most of the episode thinking about the Crystal Maze from the moment I saw the tree tower. Then it flew away :)
Not a bad Christmas episode though!
Written my post: http://mrschristine.com/2011/12/25/doctor-who-christmas-special-the-doctor-the-widow-and-the-wardrobe/
Uh... I thought this was for people to watch this live from their computers... whatevs, liars. You people REALLY hate Doctor Who, don't you?
Uh... it says that I posted this on boxing day, but, uh, I live in Washington State, in the United States of America,so, what time zone is this website in? It's still Christmas for me!
a bit harsh nikolai.
our timezone is GMT and we watched the programme hours and hours ago.
i didn't realise it was being shown outside the UK to be honest.
i guess this gives an insight into f1 live commenting in 2012. half the audience watch it at a certain time and the rest many hours later.
interesting.
YAY!!
Here's mine :) http://toata.co.uk/index.php/2011/12/242-doctor-who-watch-the-doctor-the-widow-and-the-wardrobe/
